hello hello hello!
alright the reviews are broken again, so it's back to copy pasting the full review. Yayyyy.
qotd: Do you want to write as a profession?
My answer: I really want to go into journalism, though obviously if i could become a published author i'd prefer that.
Review Replies:
ReadingEevee: Yay, Sparrowthorn and Moonscar have smoothed things over!
Oof, that conversation between her and Sheepfur was awkward for a minute, but she un-awkwardified it!
I have a weird feeling that something really bad is going to happen eventually...
(Also, as you know, I have seen the reviews now, and thank you for them, along with the follow and favorite!)
They have! I just really wanted to make them properly interact lol.
I am the ceo of writing needlessly awkward conversations.
And heh, yep. :D
And yay! And no worries :)
SomeStormLeaf: Aw this was great! Moonscar is developing into a really great character! And Berryfoot is in love~ so cute!
The kits' names are adorable, can't wait for them to be apprentices! And sparrowthorn gets a voice! He seems quite alright.
Have fun eating that hare, guys
Thank you! And yeah, i've loved watching her develop :D
And she is! I just wanted to add that because it wouldn't be one of my fics without random gay cats lmao
They are! Everyone suggested lovely names. Here's their apprentice ceremony, I needed a timeskip lol and this was the best way to do it.
He does! Yeah he's not as bad as moonscar thought he was.
I had to google "cat compared with hare size" to write that chapter lol.
Honeyferns: i think my favorite character from this fic is emberlight, i've really liked her since the beginning of the fic!
also this chapter is sooo cute and i'm so happy that moonscar's getting some happiness omg, we've come so far!
I really like Emberlight - also love that you still like her even if moonscar is out to get her lmao.
And thank you! I love writing moonscar being happy it gives me serotonin.

Hey!
Thank you so much :D and yeah ! that's my usual intention lol. And yeah - i'm working out an allegiance for driven apart rn so i can add them to that, can't promise they'll pop up in the actual story though. And thank you :)
Crsystalshine of Lightclan:
SUNKIT!
At last, some Sparrowthorn!
I can't wait to see Moonscar and Sheepfur's kits!
Sunkit!
And yep! Sparrowthorn finally speaks lol.
And same! I have a name idea for one, anyone got any more?
Actually - that reminds me. I'm not too sure if i'll be able to put your oc in the actual story, but i can defo add them to the allegiance! I just need a name, and a description + some kind of idea of family ties so there's no accidental incest lol. Thanks a bunch in advance :D
As always - feel free to review and pm me. You can also chat to me on insta, the user is the same as on here!
"What do you think our Warrior names will be, Moonscar?" Mewed Sunkit, with a tilt of his head.
Moonscar smiled down at the four kits playing at her paws, and pretended to think. "Let me think about it…" She answered, pretending that Emberlight's kits hadn't asked her this every day for the past four moons. She switched up her answers as much as she could, but it was hard. She scanned the kit's faces. Sunkit was grinning up at her, his amber eyes shining. Finchkit and Dawnkit were engaging in one of their many mock-battles, and Bramblekit was quietly sitting by Maplethroat's kits. Once of the kits had been born deaf, they thought, and Bramblekit had taken it upon herself to guard the tiny tom. The rest of the kits were absolute nightmares - they'd clearly picked up Smokeshadow's traits. Dovefoot's calm demeanour didn't overpower that.
Moonscar turned her attention back on Sunkit. "Suntail." She mewed, touching her nose to Sunkit's shoulder. The tom laughed happily, and Moonscar smiled. She supposed that one day she'd have to perform that ceremony - even if Foxstar seemed immortal. She turned to Dawnkit, who had paused his attack on Finchkit to grin at her. "Let's go with Dawnstrike." She purred, and Dawnkit squealed with excitement.
She looked over at Bramblekit. She suspected that the she-cat wouldn't ever have a warrior ceremony - she seemed more invested in looking after her fellow cat. She'd mentioned it to Daffodilheart a half-moon ago, and he'd nodded. He was getting on in the seasons, and it wouldn't be too long before he would have to retire. Still, she humoured Sunkit's request, as she always did. "Brambleleap." She mewed. Finally, she turned to Finchkit. She didn't know what it was about her sister's smallest kit- but she'd always felt a connection to her. She supposed it was the she-kits resemblance to her sister. Finchkit had a soft brown coat, flecked with darker dots. And the same amber eyes as Emberlight, much brighter than Sunkit's. "Finchpounce." She decided on. It was the name that never usually changed, not that Finchkit ever noticed it.
It wouldn't be too long before the kits were given their actual warrior names, she thought as Dawnkit begged for a badger-ride. They were almost ready for apprenticeship- she'd offered to take any one of them a few days ago, and Foxstar had agreed. Moonscar was surprised at her compliance, it wasn't too common for relatives to mentor kits. She supposed it was because of the lack of mentors; really - Maplethroat's litter was three kits strong, and they'd be made apprentices not too long after Emberlight's kits. Maplethroat had chosen excellent names for her litter, she thought. Fogkit, Smokekit and Mistkit. Mistkit was the name of the deaf tom, Moonscar believed. They all closely resembled Smokeshadow, with Smokekit being named in his honour. (Moonscar suspected it was part of the deal ,and Smokeshadow's idea.)
Today was a very important day for two other cats. They weren't aware of it just yet, but today was Berryfoot and Sheepfur's Thunderclan ceremony. Their Thunderclan training had gone on longer than usual, because they'd insisted on it. Berrysong had wanted to learn how to climb trees, and Sheepfur had wanted to 'catch a rabbit on Thunderclan territory' before they were made Thunderclan warriors. Berryfoot had mastered the tree climbing not long after she'd started, and Sheepfur had apparently caught a rabbit yesterday. Moonscar hadn't seen him catch it but she'd seen his proud expression when he'd returned to camp with it. And that was enough.
Sure enough, when she managed to slip out of the nursery, she spotted Foxstar on the highledge, her greying muzzle raised to the sky. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather here!" She called out, and warriors began to emerge from the den. Sheepfur bounded over to her, with Berryfoot and Heatherskip in tow. His eyes were shining. Moonscar wondered briefly how he would know what was happening, before realising he probably thought it was Emberlight's kits' ceremony.
He sat down next to her, and she leaned into his soft white fur. He grinned down at her. Berryfoot slumped down on the ground- she looked like she'd been woken up from a nap. Heatherskip chuckled and laid down next to her. Moonscar glanced fondly at her friend, and back up at Foxstar. She should really be sitting at the foot of the highledge, but Foxstar hadn't glared at her to move yet. Come to think of it… Foxstar appeared to have zoned out. She was staring dead ahead of her, gazing into space. Moonscar sighed, looked around, and coughed loudly. Foxstar started, and her gaze seemed to focus.
"Today, I will be performing a ceremony of great importance." Foxstar mewed. "Sheepfur, Berryfoot - would you step forward please?" Foxstar asked, and Sheepfur turned to stare at Moonscar.
"Why do I need to go up?" He hissed, and Moonscar rolled her eyes.
"Just do it." She said, and Sheepfur awkwardly pushed his way to the front. Berryfoot followed after him, walking straight through the crowd. She sat down next to Sheepfur, and looked up at Foxstar.
"I, Foxstar, leader of Thunderclan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on these warriors. They have trained hard to adjust to their new clan, and to look away from their old clan. Sheepfur and Berryfoot - do you promise to protect and defend Thunderclan, even at the cost of your life?" Foxstar called out, and the camp fell silent.
Sheepfur and Berryfoot exchanged a glance. "I do." They both mewed, Sheepfur's rough mew rising above Berryfoot's soft purr.
"Then by the powers of Starclan, I welcome you to Thunderclan. Berryfoot- I see no reason to change your name. Starclan honours your speed, and your determination, and I welcome you as a member of Thunderclan." Foxstar mewed, dipping her head to Berryfoot.
"Sheepfur, your name does not represent you, and as your leader I can change it." Foxstar mewed sharply, and Moonscar flinched. "Do you have any objections?" Foxstar asked stiffly.
If Moonscar was in Sheepfur's position, she would have objected immediately. Sheepfur's name was given to him by Slatestar; his old leader and his grandfather. But he didn't object. He stood up a little straighter, cleared his throat, and mewed "No." in a clear voice.
Foxstar dipped her head to Sheepfur. "Then I rename you Sheepskip. Starclan honours your optimism, and kindness, and I welcome you as a full member of Thunderclan." Foxstar mewed, and Sheepfur- No - Sheepskip smiled up at her happily.
"Berryfoot! Sheepskip!" Began echoing around the camp, and Moonscar joined in enthusiastically. Sheepskip was an excellent name, and it suited him well. Sheepskip smiled through the crowd at Moonscar, and she felt her heart melt.
"I have another duty to perform." Foxstar called, once Sheepskip and Berryfoot had returned to their places in the crowd. Moonscar looked up, puzzled. "Emberlight, could you get your kits to come up here, please?" Foxstar asked, and Moonscar gasped.
Of course! She thought. It's their ceremony today.
Emberlight brushed past her, the kits in tow. She'd clearly been told about it in advance - Sunkit's usually unkempt fur was neat and tidy.
"Bramblekit." Foxstar mewed first. Bramblekit skipped forward, her eyes wide. "Daffodilheart had decided to take you on as an apprentice." She explained, and Daffodilheart stepped forward.
"I have chosen Bramblekit to be your next medicine cat, for her clear skill with herbs and her kindness towards her fellow cat." The aging cat mewed. "Do you accept?" He asked, and Bramblekit shivered.
"I do!" She exclaimed, and Sheepskip laughed, low in Moonscar's ear.
"From this moment on, you will be known as Bramblepaw, and you will learn the noble ways of a medicine cat." Foxstar mewed. Moonscar winced. She was fairly certain that Foxstar had just messed the words up, judging by Daffodilheart's expression. Still, he padded forward and touched noses with Bramblepaw, who was practically bouncing with excitement.
"Finchkit" Foxstar mewed, and Finchkit walked forward. "You have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Finchpaw." She declared, and Finchpaw looked up at Foxstar, pleased. Foxstar scanned the crowd.
"Your mentor will be Moonscar." Foxstar said, and Moonscar froze up. She heard Sheepskip gasp next to her, and Berryfoot looked up from grooming Heatherskip long enough to grin at her. "I hope that Moonscar will pass down all she knows to you."
Foxstar then turned to Moonscar, her eyesight unsteady again. "Moonscar, you are ready to take on an apprentice. You have received excellent training from Smokeshadow" -Moonscar thought she heard Smokeshadow mutter 'hear, hear' at that- "and you have shown yourself to be an excellent fighter, and resilience. You will be Finchpaw's mentor, and I expect you to pass on all you know to Finchpaw."
Moonscar stumbled forward, in a daze. She bumped noses' with her sister's kit, and smiled at her. Finchkit grinned back, and they broke apart.
The rest of the ceremony passed by in a blur. Moonscar was aware that Sunpaw was to be mentored by Dovefoot, and Dawnpaw by Nightlark. Why those mentors had been chosen, she had no idea.
She'd broken every rule she'd put up to protect herself, and she felt amazing. Why hadn't she just let herself care? Nothing had happened. Nothing but happiness, and love had happened since her decision. It seemed foolish, in retrospect.
I will teach you everything I know, and then some. She vowed to Finchpaw. She would allow herself to grow to love her new apprentice. It was the least she owed Emberlight.
i hope u guys enjoyed this chapter! it was kind of fillery- but hopefully you'll see where i'm going with it in a few chapters :D
btw i really hope me changing sheepfur's name was alright, i just,,, didn't like it anymore. also the reason heatherskip has the same suffix is because foxstar is Getting Old.
