Meet the family

Everyone was exhausted, the last few days had bean none stop battles but they still had to train, Zane harder then the others but Wu reminded himself not to go to far with him. Maya made sure of that.

But she be needing to see her family soon since it bean a while, she decided to call them and tell them she was visiting but was not ready for what they asked.

"You want him to visit?" Maya looked shocked as she talked over the phone with them.

Maya's family was shocked about knowing how close she was with Zane, to the point that they were meant to be.

"It's only right, you two are basically together and I want to meet my future son in law." Maya's mother, Lea, said with a smile.

"I guess I can bring him along on this trip. Who else is going to be there?" Maya seemed curios.

"Everyone has free time so we can all meet him at once." Lea smiled.

"Meet all of us at once, that's a lot, well except dad he already met him." Maya chuckled.

"Yes I'm glad he got to meat him. And he was impressed, that's not something easy to do with your dad." Lea chuckled.

"No I guess not, he can get along with anyone but be impressed, that's a different matter." Maya thought on that a bit.

"So tomorrow it is." Lea said happily.

"Sure, just let me tell him and we'll be there at the usual time." Maya said happy, she did want them to meet though she was a bit nervous "Just all of you be nice, he can be a bit sensitive."

"Well he'll have to get used to how load we are." Lea huffed.

"That's not what I'm talking about. You'll see when we get there. Bey love you." Maya hung up as she heard her mom say the same thing.

Maya thought 'Oh boy I better get Zane ready for this.' She walked to the deck to see Zane sparring against his brothers. Wu had decided that fighting against him wasn't fair just yet so he thought going against his brother one at a time for now would do.

Maya couldn't help but stand for a bit and stare as they worked out, she loved seeing the way Zane moved so gracefully and strong when fighting. 'Oh that man.' Maya sighed.

Jay tried to fight Zane with speed but Zane froze the grown with his now green ice to make him sleep.

Kai got up and melted the ice as she rushed at Zane, but Zane began dodging and weaving as he let a current of energy flow through him to block Kai's fire power.

It seemed Zane was getting used to his new abilities but at the last moment Zane felt the earth rumble and turned to find Cole stomping in on the bounty. Zane tried to jump over but sadly he slipped and was piled on.

"Come on Zane you got to be better then that." Cole chuckled as he helped his brother up.

"For some reason it is hard to keep balanced in the rumble of the ship." Zane sighed.

"It's hard for anyone. Don't sweat it." Kai smiles.

"But I must sweat on this, if I don't then how will I ever defeat Garmadon?" Zane looked worried.

"Zane you can't beat a villain in one day. We've all learned that already. We just have to get you stronger." Jay smiled patting his back.

"I suppose that is right." Zane smiled back.

"How about a break Icy." Maya chuckled as she came up.

"Hey Maya where you been?" Cole asked.

"Family call. I'm going to see them tomorrow." Maya smiles.

"That's great. I should probably go and visit my folks soon as well." Jay thought of his own family who where probably worried.

"Oh Zane my family wants you to come with me to visit." Maya looks over shy.

"Is there a special occasion gong on?" Zane looked confused.

"No, they just wall want to meat you. It's kind of important to meet your girlfriend's family. Just like a girlfriend would for a boyfriend family." Maya explains.

"It is a tradition then. I would be happy to come and meat them." Zane smiled.

"Great. Let's go in casual cloths, and you'll be meeting all of them so get ready for it to be load." Maya chuckles.

"I am already used to load living with my brothers." Zane chuckles.

"Hey!" the other shouts and pounce on him.

"Okay, okay, leave him in one piece okay. He has to make a food impression tomorrow." Maya chuckles as she walks off.

At that Jay jumps "Ah, she's right guys get off him."

As they all get up Kai said "Oh come on Jay she didn't mean it like that."

"Of course she did. Every girl wants her boyfriend to make a good impression on her family." Jay glares.

"So when will you do that for me." Kia smirks as Cole laughs.

"Very funny. Now come on this is serious." Jay glared.

"Is this truly such an important event." Zane looked worried a bit.

"Well yeah, at least you know Maya's dad like you. So that two out of one of the most important people you have to impressed, the other will be her mom." Cole smiles.

"No, Zane met Maya's dad when they where not dating. This time they are so he still has to make a good impression." Jay scowled.

"How do I do that?" Zane looked at Jay, who seemed to know most on the subject.

"Okay first you have to clean up, Maya said casual, but you should go in something a little nicer. Like maybe instead of the usual outfit put on something if you where going on a casual date with Maya." Jay smiled.

"You mean a polo, jeans, and tennis shoes?" Zane asked, thinking of the picnic he had with Maya.

"Good but instead of jeans where kakis. You have to look presentable. Now about a gift flowers or candies will do…." Jay puts an arm over Zane and walks him off.

Cole and Kai looked on worried "Should we stop him?" Cole askes.

"No he does have a point but we should fallow them so he doesn't overdue it." Kai and Coel rushed to keep up with the other two.

Maya was in her room and looked at her cloths, she was going to go with casual but thought 'No your presenting your boyfriend, wear something nicer.'

She went in her closet and took out a button up sleeveless shirt. Her black leggings, and purple flats. 'That will do. Maybe we can go on a date after.' Maya smiled at the idea, they hadn't bean on a date since the feral incident. She shivered at that.

"Hey Maya you okay?" Maya turned to see Nya looking a bit worried.

"I'm fine just thinking about how bad my last date with Zane went." Maya sighed.

"Yeah that was rough. But I'm sure you're next one will go well. Is that what you're doing, picking an outfit for a date." Nya looked at the outfit.

"Not exactly, my family wants to meat Zane and since I'm visiting tomorrow I'm bringing him." Maya smiled a bit nervous.

"Meating the family, sound nerve wrecking." Nya smiles.

"At least Jay's parents loved you from the start. You don't have anything to worry about." Maya chuckles.

"I guess not but I should visit along with Jay next time. If we're going to be dating his parents probably want to know more about me." Nya thinks on this.

"I think they like that especially since they can't get enough of Jay." Maya chuckles.

Nay joins in and says "So how are you going to introduce them?"

"Nothing special, we're meeting at our home. My siblings, parents, and nephews will be there." Maya smiles at the thought of everyone.

"That's a lot of people. Hope Zane can handle all that." Nya sat on the bed.

"Me too. Especially when they get crazy." Maya sighs.

With the boys….

"Okay when you meat them what do you say." Jay asks Zane as he sat him on his bed.

"Greetings Mister and Misses Wilder I am Zane and I am happy to be in your home. Here are some sweets." Zane holds out an empty box.

"A little formal but it will work." Jay nods.

"Don't listen to him Zane you did great." Kai smiled.

"Yeah if I ever brought a girl that polite to my house my dad would have started talking wedding right away." Cole shivers.

Zane jumps "Do you think they will ask about such things at Maya's home."

"Zane when it comes to parents they don't just want anyone for their little girl, they want the best." Jay frowns.

"Which won't be hard to do. I mean he is the green ninja." Kai smiles.

"I do not feel like using my statues is a good way to fall in their graces. Pluss they already know. May tells them of everything and the fact that we are in a way bonded is probably why they want to meat me." Zane frowns.

"Then yeah their going to talk wedding man." Kai nodded.

Zane jumped.

"Dud don't scare him." Cole glared.

"I'm just saying that if you two are bonded, and living on the same ship they're going to want to make sure nothing happens. That means no fooling around till you two are married." Kai explains.

Zane flushed "I would never…."

"We know Zane but Maya's parents are still going to be worried about that stuff. So just remember to take it in stride okay." Jay patted his back.

Zane nodded, this was going to be harder then he thought.

As the girls worked on lunch that day Maya couldn't help but say "I think my parents are plotting something."

"What do you mean?" Nya asks.

"They've bean wanting to meat Zane for a while but with all the crazy they haven't had the chance, but something's telling me that this whole bonded thing is going to make them even more worried. Like, get prepared for something big ready." Maya frowns.

"Are they really like that?" Nya looked uncertain.

"Our parents are very protective of us. They've just barely accepted the ninja thing. So living on the same ship as my boyfriend an supposed other, well that's going to put them on a whole no level of worried." Maya frowns.

"I guess I can see that. But I'm sure you all will figure something out." Nya smiles.

"Hopefully, first I have to get everyone's approval." Maya nodded.

Later…

At dinner as they all sat down Maya said "Sensei Zane and I will be going to my home tomorrow. My parent want to meat him."

"Ah of course this is an important event. Your parents should meat the man you love and see how they approve of him." Wu nods.

Zane flushes and Maya snuggles him "Sensei don't make him nervous."

"I apologize, just be yourself Zane and everything will turn out fine." Wu smiles.

"And remember what I taught you and you'll be great." Jay smirks.

"Oh no what did you teach him." Nya looked worried.

"Don't worry we supervised." Kai smiled.

Maya groaned, now she was even more worried.

"Maya, my I know your families favorite candies. I wish to bring a gift to show my respects." Zane smiles.

"What oh Zane that's sweet but…" She was going to say he didn't have too 'Well if it will get him on their good side' "Chocolates will be fine."

Zane nodded and went back to his meal. Maya ate and thought 'Though if you cooked dinner, they be even more impressed.'

The next day….

Maya and Zane had finished training and got cleaned for the day. Zane wanted to go into the city for a bit before heading to Maya's house and she agreed, thinking it be good to spend time together before the big event.

Nya had to land the bounty since they no longer had the golden weapons to help them travel. So the two walked into town and looked about, they found the sweat shop and Zane grabbed a box of chocolates he thought the family would like.

Then they walked toward Maya's house. "This city is quite small compared to most. But much larger than any village." Zane looked around excited.

"It's a nice place, you got your usual stores and parks. Even theaters and such. Hey I was thinking, after seeing my family how about some alone time." Maya smiles with batting eyes.

Zane flushes and says "I would like that. We have not bean on a date for a while. How about a movie. That is a very regular dating activity we have not tried yet."

"That be fun, something peaceful for once." Maya sighed.

"Are you still upset about last time." Zane frowned.

"It was embarrassing." Maya flushes.

"I understand. It was not an easy day." Zane flushed as well.

The two shook that off as they suddenly saw Maya's house coming up. "Looks like the family really is all here." They saw a few cars parked outside.

"You have quite a large family." Zane looked on curios.

"I told you and this is just the immediate. All my other relatives are spread out in Ninjago so it be hard to get the all in one place." Maya chuckles.

"That is quite large. How many are you in total?" Zane asked.

"I don't think I can even count us all. Accept for the ones in here today. But you'll meat them soon." Maya smiles as they get to the door.

Maya rings the door bell and soon someone opens, it's Victor "Hey Maya you here, and Zane good to see you again."

"Hello Mr. Wilder. Thank you for inviting me to your home. Here a box of sweet for you and Mrs. Wilder as a thanks for inviting me to your home." Zane nods politely.

Victor chuckles lightly and says "Still polite as ever. That's good, that will get you far in life."

"He's already the green ninja dad. It will be hard to top that." Maya smiles as she snuggles him.

"Right you told us about that. Must be a big honor. You have to show me your powers sometimes. Maya's already shown them off and her nephews love them." Victor chuckles.

Before Zane can say anything he hears "Maya!" And Maya is tackled by a women with brown hair and green eyes.

"Mom too tight." Maya squirm.

"Sorry just missed you so much." Lea smiled.

Then she turned to Zane and said "Oooh and this must be Zane. He's so handsome."

"Mom." Maya smiles embarrassed but happy.

"Thank you for the complement Mrs. Wilder you are quite lovley yourself especially with your green eyes." Zane smiles with a nod.

"Aw stop I know I look horrible." She waves him off.

"I do not lie Mrs. Wilder you look quite nice in that outfit." Zane smiles.

"Look he brought chocolates." Victor smiled.

"Zane wanted to thank you guys for inviting him." Maya smiles.

Lea looked a the chocolates and looked back at Zane "So when's the wedding."

"Mom!" Maya jumped.

Zane began to stutter.

"I think they can wait." Victor didn't looked pleased with that "Their still young."

"Their older than we were when we got married and close Flo's age when she got married." Lea huffs.

"Mom, dad, stop you're making him shut down." Maya tried to help a hyperventilating Zane.

"Oh come in get some water." Lea drags them in as Vic gets some water.

As they sat down and Zane had some water he calmed "I am sorry about that, I am still not used to the idea of marriage just yet. Maya is my first girlfriend and…."

"She's your, that's sweet." Zane looked up to see a women with tan skin, brown hair, and green eyes sitting next to a tan man with brown eyes and a toddler and baby with tan skin, brown hair, and brown eyes.

"Aunty Maya!" the toddler ran up to Maya and hugged her.

"Oh my little Asher. How are you." Maya cuddled him.

Asher laughed as he then looked at Zane "Who you?"

"Oh sorry my name is Zane and I am dating your aunt." Zane smiles.

"Date?" Asher tilted his head.

"He's four Zane he doesn't know what that means." Maya smiles.

"Oh, I am a close friend then." Zane shrugs.

Then they heard a yell. They looked at the baby who was begging to be picked up "I'm coming Lee I'm coming." Maya chuckled a she picked up the baby. "Ooh I missed you too." She blows on his tummy making him laugh.

"Now me!" Asher called, Maya laughed but loved the attention of her nephews.

Zane looked on with a happy smile as he watched her play and thought 'That would explain why she is so good with Lloyd. She will make a wonderful mother someday.'

"Hey I'm Mark." A skinny tan teen with brown hair and green eyes came up to shakes hand. He did so and then another young man with thicker features and brighter eyes came up and said "Names Rick. Nice to meat you. So you're the ones Maya's bean talking about."

"I suppose. I do not know any other Zane." He shrugged as the boys laughed finding him funny.

"See how he dresses now that how you should dress when meeting your girlfriends family." Lea tells her sons. They sigh but just agreed.

"I almost came in jeans, but my friend Jay suggested kakis, I am glad I took his advice." Zane smiled.

"So your friend helped you. That's nice of him. I'm Ran, Flo's husband." The man with black hair shakes Zane's hand.

"It is nice to meat all of you. Maya was right about having a large family. It is as big as the one we have on the bounty." Zane smiles.

"So you consider your team family?" Flo asks.

"They're the only one I've ever known besides my father but he passed some time ago." Zane frowned.

"Oh, where so sorry." Lea frowned at that.

"It is okay, his teachings and love are still in me." Zane smiles kindly.

"He's sensitive. Keep him." Flo smiles.

Zane flushes and Maya glares "Stop doing that."

"Well we have dinner set up, we made your favorite Maya." Lea smiles.

"Meatball stew yes!" Maya cheered.

"I did not know this. May I have the recipe so I may make it for her." Zane smiles.

"So you cook. Welcome to the club. The men cook in this family." Ran chuckles.

"So the women in this family are attracted to men that can cook. That is interesting." Zane smiles.

"He learns fast." Flo smirks.

"He's also the best chef I've ever met." Maya smiles.

"What no way." Ran looks surprised.

"He can make a whole duck dinner in under an hour. Trust me he's that good." Maya smiles holding Zane's arm. Making him flush in pride.

As they sat down to eat the family converse loudly about almost anything, daily life, politics, food, and even just chatting about a small event. Or big. Even the children gave their points of view loudly.

"Hey did you hear about the Ninjago twisters." Rick smiles.

"Oh yeah I heard their…." Mark talked went on as the tow walked on sports.

"What do you think Zane?" Rick asks.

"I am actually not that all informed on sport, just that that Ninjago twisters are a basketball group." Zane shrugged.

"Oh that's cool so your into other stuff." Rick asked.

"I like playing video games with my brothers. But I am not as into it as they are. I rather like reading more to tell the truth and I like looking at anything Maya has created." Zane smiles.

"Your too sweet Icy." Maya kisses his cheek.

"So the ninja thing how long do you think this is gong to go on?" Vic asks.

"I am uncertain, probably till Garmadon is defeated. But I still need to keep training before that battle is over." Zane thinks on this.

"That mad man on the loos. And those snakes, I can't believe you have to fight them." Lea looks on worried.

"Don't worry mom I'm fine. And Zane and I have each other's back." Maya's holds Zane's hand and he holds back tight.

"I would do anything to protect you." Zane smiles.

"What about convincing her to come back home." Lea begs.

"Mom…." Maya starts.

"She has a point, if he love you he wouldn't want you in danger." Vic adds.

Maya looked upset now but Zane spoke up "While that is true that I cannot stand for her to be in danger. It is not fair that I go into battle and Maya not choose her own fate on what she wants. I can never tell her what to do as she has her own mind and passion to protect. How can respect and love her if I do not let her be herself." Zane nuzzles her hand.

Maya calms at this thinking 'I love this man.'

"Yes that's what I'm talking about, Maya do not lose this one he is one of the few good ones out there!" Flo cheered.

"I know and no way anyone's taking him from me." Maya smiles.

Zane flushes with a smile, glad they were all so approving so far.

"Well if that's how it's going to be, I'm just glad you found someone who treats you right." Vic smiles.

"While I want you home at least he loves you." Lea sighs.

"Now we have to talk about what comes next." Vic raises a brow.

"Dad no. We are not ready for that step and Zane and I agree we will not do anything till after marriage. We wan to enjoy dating for a while." Maya tells him.

"You say that know but when the heat comes…." Lea starts.

"Mom! Seriously we have separate rooms and everyone can hear what's going on in the other room, nobody wants that. Also, Sensei pretty much knows everything that goes on, on that ship. He's even interrupted us when kissing." Maya groans.

"What kind of kissing?" Lea asks.

"Mom!" Maya flushes.

"Mr. and Mrs. Wilder I promise form the bottom of my heart and on my honor that I will never dishonor Maya in any way and will wait for after marriage to be with her. I promise you that, and we have never done anything inappropriate. And I promise to continue to be respectful. Please believe me that I will never do anything to hurt Maya." Zane bows his head.

The whole family was impressed by this, everyone shocked at what they saw this young man proclaim.

Vic then said "Okay we'll trust you for now. But one slip up and you'll have to take responsibility, got it."

"I promise." Zane nodded.

"Good now let's get back to other things. So Zane, besides cooking and reading what other hobbies do you have?" Flo asks.

"Training mostly and sometimes even doing research…." Zane talked on about his life and Maya smiled.

She was so happy to hear him say he respect her and how he never hurt her. While she knew that all couples had their issues, she at least loved the idea that Zane meant it what he said and how respectful he was.

The rest of dinner went well, Zane even played with the children a bit and was dragged into a video game conversation with Maya and her brothers. He had no idea Maya knew so much on games.

After dinner was over Maya and Zane did go to the theater, on the way there they ended up talking a bit.

"Zane, thanks for that." Maya smiles.

"For what?" Zane looked confused.

"For everything, dressing up, the chocolates, being so polite, defending my interest in being a ninja, and even about how you would never take advantage of me. I…I feel proud to have you as my boyfriend." Maya smiles.

"Because I am the green ninja." Zane looked consumed.

Maya shoved him a little and said "No because your just Zane."

"And I am proud to have just Maya." Zane smiles as he holds her close the rest of the way.
