Isabella - IPOV
Aro is the first to congratulate me and as soon as he lets go, I'm hugged by Jane and Heidi, who start claiming that they never saw anything so romantic in their whole life. Then Caius, Marcus and Athenodora move over to give me hug too. I see Aro handing Demetri an envelope and I make my way over to them. Inside is a travel itinerary for our surprise honeymoon. I hug Aro and rush over to Marcus and Caius to thank them as well.
Demetri walks up to me and says that we need to leave if we want to catch our flight. We quickly say goodbye to everyone and I throw my bouquet into the squealing group of ladies. Heidi catches it with ease, what makes Felix look like a nervous wreck.
When we reach our quarters we find our bags packed and ready on the living room floor. I take a look at my beautiful wedding dress and try to decide whether I'm going to wear it on the plane or not. When Demetri tells me that he wants to take the dress off himself when we reach the isle; there's no way I'm changing into something else now. I can't wait till he undresses me and sees what I'm wearing underneath.
Demetri drives us to the airport and the plane brings us to Santorini. A speedboat is waiting in the harbor and before I know it, I can see the beautiful isle in the distance. I look in awe at the beautiful villa that sits on the beach and follow Demetri onto the dock. We walk over to the house and I'm so lost in the beauty of this place, that Demetri totally surprises me when he picks me up, bridal style. I yelp:
"Demi, what on earth are you doing?"
"What does this look like? I'm carrying my beautiful bride over the threshold."
Oh my god, can a man be any more perfect than my Demi? That's completely impossible, he's perfection and he's all mine. Demetri carries me straight into the master bedroom, our bags and shoes somewhere on the beach, completely forgotten. He puts me down in the middle of the room and I love how his hands linger on my hips.
"I love you, Mrs. Demetri Volturi."
"I love you too, Mr. Demetri Volturi."
He starts to move around me, slowly, trailing his fingertips up and down my arms and kissing my neck. He pulls the hairpins out of my hair and I shiver in anticipation as curl after curl falls down my back. Then he pulls me close against him and kisses me so passionately, that I can't help myself from saying:
"Oh god, Demi, I want you so much."
He takes it slow and reminds me of the fact that he was going to unwrap me like a present while calling me his wife. The slowness, with which he is opening the zipper of my dress, has me so aroused that I'm certain he can smell it already. He pushes the dress off my shoulders and it falls down on the ground.
Demetri's eyes turn pitch-black when he sees the lace lingerie I'm wearing and his growling is almost enough to make me cum. I start undressing him, slowly and I can feel Demetri shivering in anticipation. I unbutton his pants and he takes them off, the whole floor is now covered by our wedding clothes.
My hands keep lingering at the edge of his boxers and Demetri's hands are drawing small circles on my back, near the closure of my bra. The feeling is almost driving me insane with want. I can't say who moved first, but the next moment we're both completely naked, wrapped in each other's arm, kissing like we haven't seen each other for centuries. I let Demetri carry me to the bed and whisper:
"Make love to me, mio marito."
And he does, we make love to each other, the first time as husband and wife and it feels like our first time all over again. It is perfect in every way. The days pass by and we can't seem to get enough of each other. I don't think that will ever change, I will always want my Demetri this much.
The fourth day we leave the isle to see Athens and to feed. I love this country; it's vibrant and colorful and has a rich history. Demetri shows me a typical spice market and tells me that the scent he remembers from this place is what I smell like to him. I love that I remind him of his home country.
When we return to the isle, we block reality out by staying in the bedroom. My favorite moment is definitely when Demetri marks me as his, while growling 'my wife'. I never came harder in my entire life, instantly marking him too. Now we're on the beach, watching the sunset. I love how Demetri is constantly kissing and nipping the new mark in my neck. I giggle because he keeps repeating 'mine' over and over again, before I say:
Previous chapter:
"Are you afraid that someone is going to steal me away, Demi?"
Demetri - DPOV
My head snaps up and I let out a ferocious growl. The thought of someone taking my Isabella is enough to awaken the monster inside me. I pull her closer instinctively and start listening to the sounds around us, as if there's someone out there wanting to take my mate. Isabella lets out a small giggle, turns around in my arms and says:
"Easy there, tiger, no one will ever take me away. I'm yours and you are mine."
She starts kissing my mark and stroking my hair, and before I know it, I'm lying in her arms, purring like a giant kitten. God, I love my wife so much. I pick her up and carry her inside the villa, which has Isabella purring in my arms. It's the most beautiful sound ever.
"That's right, gattina, purr for me. I'm going to show you again that I'm completely yours and that you're totally mine, just to be sure." *
The next morning arrives much too fast and I find Isabella on the porch looking at the sea, with a bit of a sad look in her eyes. I pull her in for a hug and kiss her softly. I hope that the masters will let us come back here next year to celebrate our one-year anniversary. I take her hand and we walk out to the dock together. With one last look at the villa we speed off to Santorini, where the jet is waiting to take us back home.
We make it to our quarters unnoticed and start unpacking our bags. We're almost done when someone knocks on our door. Damn it, no rest for the wicked so it seems. I open the door and find Jane standing on the other side.
"Demetri, Isabella, I'm glad you're back. Aro wants to see the both of you in his study."
I nod and Isabella slips past me to give Jane a hug. We step out and make our way down the hallway. Jane and Isabella walk in front and are talking about our honeymoon; I trail a bit behind looking at my beautiful wife with a smile on my face. How did I survive those 3000 years without her? I really don't have a clue. We knock and enter Aro's study.
"Ah, the lovebirds have returned to the nest. How marvelous! How was the honeymoon? No, never mind, don't answer that, I think I know. The reason why I called you in here is the following: the Cullens will be arriving in a few hours and I expect it to be a long and intense meeting. I want the entire guard present, spread out across the room with their hoods on, except for Demetri, Renata, Jane and Alec, who will join me and my brothers on the dais.
That means that you, Isabella, will have to endure everything they say or do, without revealing who you are and without Demetri by your side. You will also have to shield our whole coven. Will that be a problem?"
Isabella looks straight at Aro and I can see the determination in her eyes when she, clearly states that it will not be a problem. Then Aro turns to me.
"Demetri, I expect you to stand with me. The Cullens are bound to say things that are going to trigger the protectiveness you have for your mate. You are one of my best guards, son, I expect nothing less from you than total control. If it comes to a punishment for the Cullens, I'll make sure Caius gives you the honor of carrying it out."
"Thank you, Master, it won't be an issue."
"Perfect, now run along, change into the proper attire and come down to the throne room, it's time to let Caius loose."
We snicker as we hear Caius growl from his study next door and run back to our quarters. I change into a black jeans and a black shirt, before putting on my cloak. Isabella puts on a long black dress, that looks stunning on her, and her cloak, carefully fixing the hood to keep her face shrouded. Suddenly she pulls me to her for a hug and our lips meet for a kiss, filled with love.
"I love you so much, Demetri."
"I love you too, amore mio, more than life itself."
I take her hand in mine and we make our way to the throne room. I see that everyone is already there. Isabella takes her place by the left wall, in between Felix and Heidi. I give her a reassuring nod and move to stand by Caius. Alec and Jane are standing next to Marcus. The other guards are evenly spread out along the right wall, except Renata, who is standing behind Aro as his personal shield. I keep looking at my beautiful wife, until my focus is pulled to the big wooden doors that swing open to reveal Gianna and the Cullens. Aro jumps up to greet them.
"Carlisle, my old friend, it has been too long! I'm so glad you could join us on such short notice. Please, come in and introduce us to your lovely coven."
"Aro, it indeed has been a very long time since I had the pleasure of visiting Volterra. We were quite surprised by your invitation. Please let me introduce to you: my wife Esme, our daughter Rosalie and her mate Emmett, our daughter Alice and her mate Jasper, and my son Edward."
I hear Caius mutter something by himself while Carlisle is talking, but I keep my eyes fixated on the seven vampires in front of me. They all look incredibly nervous; all the males are standing slightly in front of their mate to protect them. Aro doesn't seem to notice and carries on:
"Wonderful! Now Carlisle, a little birdie told us that you've been very naughty. Care to explain?"
"Are you referring to the newborn army, Aro?"
With that remark from Carlisle, Caius jumps to his feet and takes a few steps toward the Cullens. He smirks, before saying:
"No, I'm quite certain Aro is referring to the human. Did you or did you not, leave a human that knows our secret, behind alive?"
Carlisle looks at Caius, shocked but collects himself rather quickly.
"I can imagine that an outsider would see it that way, but I can guarantee you that it isn't like that. Please give me the time to tell our story."
"Why do you think you should get the chance to explain yourself? You and your coven broke the law. You know that we don't give second chances. You lived with us for decades, Carlisle! What on earth could be so important that you believe we should be told about it? You are not above the law!"
Caius looks murderous and Aro is definitely enjoying all the drama. Marcus keeps looking at the Cullens; I suppose he is checking their bonds in case Aro wants to know later on. The female Cullens all moved behind their mate, when Caius started yelling. Carlisle stands tall and says:
"Because that human was my daughter and nothing you can do or say to me, will ever give me more agony, than knowing I left her behind, when she needed me most!"
What the fuck did he just say?! Caius's eyes flick to mine and I know he is as surprised as I am. I want to run to Isabella and pull her close to protect her, but I can't break rank. Caius opens his mouth to respond, but Aro beats him to it.
"Caius, please let Carlisle tell his story. You know how much I love a good story and I've got a feeling this one is very much worth telling."
Caius scowls and moves back to his throne. He waves his hand to Carlisle, indicating he can tell his story, faking indifference but I know he wants to hear this story just as much as the rest of us. I know my Isabella would never lie to me, so there must be more to this whole story then we first thought. Carlisle looks at Aro and starts to tell the story.
He tells us about how they met Isabella and how they came to see her as a part of their family. Carlisle's story is almost identical as Isabella's, he even tells us about James. Caius growls, when Carlisle comes to the part where he let Edward suck the venom out, and he yells:
"Why would you do that? You said she wanted to be like us, so why would you stop the change? Really Carlisle, I never thought you were that stupid. Did the squirrels finally fry your brain?"
I can see Marcus smile in the corner of my eye and notice a few other guards smirking as well.
"It was Edward's call to make, Caius. Bella was his mate and he wanted her to enjoy her human life for a while longer. She was only seventeen at that time; we would be taking so much away from her. Bella was adamant that she wanted to be one of us, but she would have missed her parents so much. We couldn't do that to her, she needed a chance to say goodbye."
Caius huffs and dismisses the topic with a wave. Carlisle continues his story and tells us about the summer and the eventful birthday-party they held for Isabella. I can see Jasper lowering his shoulders when Carlisle comes to the part where Isabella cut her finger. The guilt is written all over his face, he definitely still blames himself for what happened.
Then Carlisle starts talking about their decision to leave Forks and how Emmett and Jasper fought against Edward's decision to leave, how Carlisle had reasoned with Edward that Bella should come with them and how they eventually agreed to leave for a short time. That way Isabella could live with her dad for a few more years and have the chance to really say goodbye.
He mentions a letter that Esme wrote to explain all this to Isabella, and states that they loved her as family and that she would have never told anybody about our existence. The family left and Edward stayed behind to say goodbye to Isabella and deliver the letter. Well, we all know how that went. I quickly look at Isabella and fight the urge to whisk her out of here. She's mine, I don't care that the Cullens still seem to love her, they can't have her. I'm never letting her go. Carlisle takes a deep breath and continues:
"We travelled to Alaska and I hoped that Edward would feel the mating pull the moment he left Forks. I never expected him to really leave her… I travelled back to Forks a few months ago, I just had to check up on Bella, and I needed to make sure she knew we were coming back for her. That's when I found out about Victoria and Laurent, and I called the family back to Forks.
I also found out that I failed my daughter in every way possible; she died two days after we left in an explosion that burned down her house. She never made it out alive. If only we hadn't left, she would probably still be with us. So you see, Caius, there's no punishment that you can think of that will hurt me more than knowing my daughter died because I wasn't there to safe her."
By now, the female Cullens are all sobbing and the males look devastated, all but one… Edward looks sad and very guilty. Aro seems to notice that too. He makes his way over to Carlisle and says:
"I'm so sorry for your loss, my dear Carlisle. Would you do me the honor of seeing everything that happened with my own eyes?"
Carlisle nods and offers Aro his hand. Aro closes his eyes for a minute and looks at Carlisle with a strange look on his face.
"I could almost feel how much this pains you, Carlisle. Why on earth did you let a seventeen year old boy change your mind like that? It's not like you to go against something you feel so strong about."
Aro turns to Edward with a devious smile on this face and sticks out his hand:
"Edward, you seem to play an important part in this story. Please, humor me and let me see your thoughts on the matter."
Edward steps forward and puts his hand in Aro's. Aro gasps and turns to address all of the Cullens with a smirk on his face.
"I don't think you will have to ask the Volturi to kill you, Edward, not when your family finds out what you did. They will surely kill you after the stunt you pulled."
Carlisle - CPOV
We walk into the throne room and I see that the whole guard is present. This is definitely not a courtesy meeting; we're here for a specific reason. Aro welcomes us and I introduce my family, none of them have ever been to Volterra before. When Aro asks me to explain things, I assume he's talking about Victoria. Caius takes me by surprise when he says:
"No, I'm quite certain Aro is referring to the human. Did you or did you not, leave a human that knows our secret, behind alive?"
Oh no, how did they find out about Bella? Did Victoria tell the guard? We broke the law and he knows it. But still, our Bella was not just any human; she was my daughter, if he just will let me explain. Caius directs his anger toward me, stating that they don't give second chances. Aro interrupts our discussion and asks me to tell my story. I nod and tell them everything; I don't leave out a single detail. I'm certain Aro will check my story by reading my thoughts, so there's no need to keep things hidden. I ignore Caius's remark about the squirrels; I know how he thinks about our feeding habits. I'm not having that discussion with him right now.
I almost crack when I tell them about Bella's death. Aro comes over to check my story with his gift. When he lets go, I pull Esme closer to me to comfort her. I see that Emmett and Jasper are also trying to comfort Rosalie and Alice. I turn when Aro asks to read Edward's thoughts and gasp when I hear Aro say:
"I don't think you will have to ask the Volturi to kill you, Edward, not when your family finds out what you did. They will surely kill you after the stunt you pulled."
I look at the rest of my family, who all look at Edward in shock. What did Aro see?
Edward - EPOV
I can't read the mind of the Volturi; every single one of them has a silent mind. It reminds me of Bella and how perfectly silent her mind used to be. I listen to Carlisle as he makes introductions and am a bit shocked when Caius mentions the human. How did they find out about Bella? Did that bitch Victoria tell them?
He rages at Carlisle, who seems unfazed, but I know better, because not a day goes by without him thinking about her and regretting his decision to leave her behind. It's my fault and I'll take the blame for everything. I'll ask for my death so that the rest of my family can go home. Every thought, that my family member are having right now, revolves around Bella and I try to shut them out. I'm pulled out of my trance by Aro, addressing me:
"Edward, you seem to play an important part in this story. Please, humor me and let me see your thoughts on the matter."
I put my hand in his and wait. The smirk on Aro's face makes a shiver run down my spine. I pull back my hand in shock, when he says:
"I don't think you will have to ask the Volturi to kill you, Edward, not when your family finds out what you did. They will surely kill you after the stunt you pulled."
