Warnings: This story may contain material that is not suitable for all audiences and may offend some readers. There's also a teeny bit of threat to a child. Please exercise understanding of personal sensitivities before and during reading.

Author's Note(s): So my friend Gwen has a fic where Theo almost gave birth at a pride event and Harry teased him that they needed to get him out of there before he was obligated to name the kid "rainbow". It was hilarious, so I kept it. Also, just as a head's up, because of Theo's transness, there's blanket feel of "mpreg" throughout the fic. After all, Theo's a man who gave birth to a child.

Over the Rainbow

Luna chased after her godchild through the meadow. Their blond hair flowed behind them like the tails of comets as they ran. The wild grasses and even wilder flowers shook at their passage, catching on their brightly colored skirts and loose-fitting blouses. A murder of ravens took to the air with outraged caws. Iris echoed the cries when Luna scooped her up.

"I got you, little one," Luna announced as she spun them to bleed off the inertia. The little girl laughed as she fought for freedom. Luna countered with tickles that set Iris screeching again.

"No fair," Iris complained, still squirming. "No tickies allowed, Auntie Luna!"

"Do I look like a blood-sucking bug?" Luna asked. She tickled the five-year-old harder even as she mock-nibbled at her neck. "Still gonna gobble you up!"

"No! No eats me!" Iris jerked to protect the spot, nearly catching Luna's jaw with her head. "I taste horrible! Fumble-worms taste better!"

"Fobberworms," Luna corrected automatically, "and you taste delicious, little one. Like candy and Auncle Harry's pancakes."

"Auncle Harry makes the bestest pancakes," Iris said. "I don't taste that good! Nothing tastes that good!"

"Oh, I could think of a few things," Luna muttered before she thought better of it. Thankfully the innuendo went over the little girl's head. She would hate having to explain to Theo and Justin why their precious child had questions about sex. For some reason, she doubted they would appreciate her matter-of-fact approach to the topic.

They certainly hadn't liked her explanation about why it was okay for her to pull Harry's hair when they had already spent so many months trying to get Iris to stop yanking on people's hair. It had led to the girl asking permission before she grabbed a handful, so Luna really thought that Theo should have been thanking her instead of lecturing her. Justin giggling like a third-year in the background had probably not helped Theo's mood.

"Their cookies," Iris agreed sagely. "The shal-co-let covered ones with the blackberry jam! They're the bestest cookies in the whole wide world!"

"A very good choice," Luna agreed as she set the girl back on her feet and began guiding them back towards the picnic blanket, where Theo was supposed to be setting out their lunch. "Do you think they packed any in our basket for today?"

"Maaaaaay-beeeee," Iris said, making the drawn-out syllables into a slight singsong. "May-be they did, because they loves us so much."

Iris hopped over a gopher hole that they had luckily missed while running through the field. That would have been a twisted ankle and an unpleasant time until they managed to get back to Harry. Theo was even worse than she was at basic healing charms. The only one he excelled at was the one to sap heat out of burns so that the standard burn paste wouldn't melt when it was applied.

"First one back—"

"A snake!" Iris yelled. Luna swirled around in a panic. Snakes were rare enough in this area of Wales that seeing one in the wild was nowhere near a good thing. Sure enough, the one that had appeared in front of the little girl had the distinctive green of an adder. Luna felt her heart skip before taking off like a hare before the fox. A single bite would be enough to finish Iris, so small for her age already due to unforeseen complications from Theo's charmed binder on his pregnancy with her.

Without processing more than that, Luna leapt into the air. She landed on the snake's back with all four of her pale paws. Her teeth slid through the adder's neck like a charmed knife through bread. A hard shake of her furred head snapped the snake's neck, making it fall completely limp in seconds.

"Iris!" Theo called from nearby. He shoved through the last barrier of grass. His gray eyes assessed the situation immediately, taking in the lack of danger as well as Luna's transformation into her animal form. Then he grabbed his daughter into a hug and pressed a desperate kiss to her forehead. "Oh, baby, you scared me when you yelled."

"Auntie Luna killed a snake," Iris announced, completely unphased by her close call. "Do you think it would be good for potions?"

"Uh, well, yeah," Theo agreed as Luna transformed back. Luna could hear the odd pitch in his voice that meant she probably should get him back to Justin before the panic attack set in properly. "It probably—probably would be good for potions."

"Now that I think about, honey," Luna said, "I think all Auncle Harry packed was their triple-berry cobbler. I think we'll have to go home to get some of his blackberry jammy dodgers. What do you say about that?"

"Cookies!" Iris screamed. Over the girl's head, Theo mouthed a simple 'thank you'. Luna nodded.

What were zucchinis for?
