Kyoka Jiro was incredibly worried for her safety. She was almost sure that someone was manipulating the emotions of her friend, making him lash out like this. It had to be the case. This was far too out of character for him. He frowned as he stepped into her room, closing the door behind him as he continued to glare at her. What was it? Some kind of hypnosis? Or mind control? Could it be some illusory suggestion?
"What's wrong with you?" she asked, her posture slouched defensively. She couldn't lash out against him, because his Quirk could counter anything she came up with. Even if she tried to stab him with her earlobes, he could simply overload her with electricity in the time it'd take her soundwaves to reach him. It was a lose-lose situation. She had to talk her way out of it.
"Me? What about you? Parading yourself around worse than Ashido." he snarled out, and she narrowed her eyed. He knew that Ashido was a bit more comfortable with her body than some girls, but she had good reason. She was blessed with good looks and a Quirk that made her look even more interesting and alluring. But parading herself? That was a bit of a stretch.
"That's ridiculous. All I do is what I'm supposed to." she said. He grit his teeth. She kept staring at him, looking for some evidence that his actions weren't his own fault. Some kind of marking, an object sticking out of his body, some kind of unusual sound that came off of him. She couldn't hear anything if there was, because his body continued to cackle with sparks and flecks of electricity.
"Those foreign bastards got you convinced that there's nothing wrong with letting some guy in a gimp suit sleep in the same room as you!" he shouted, and Jiro recoiled a little at the volume of his voice. Maybe if he was loud enough, someone would open the door and stop him. Hopefully.
"There's nothing wrong with doing my job! Since when is talking to a victim's friends and family a crime!?" she shouted, hoping that the volume of their debate would attract attention. She watched a bolt of electricity fly across his body, the sparks cackling around his arms increasing in intensity.
"Since when was harboring a foreign terrorist not a crime!?" he shouted, and she frowned. He had a point, sure, but she was put in charge of Eros before she was aware of that. And, even if that was true, Principal Nezu must have been alright with it because he agreed to the whole debacle in the first place. She did nothing wrong, no matter how Kaminari's mind, or whoever was manipulating him tried to twist it.
She realized that the distance between them kept getting closed step by step. She had to defend herself. To either escape or at the least make more space to have for herself. Her hands quivering, she took a shaky, deep breath. She moved as fast as she could, bringing her balled fist up and trying to strike Kaminari. If she could punch him, she could at least get around him or tie him up with her earlobes.
Her thoughts stopped there, her mind blanking for a second as pain shot through her frame. It was minor, like bumping into a wall, but the focal point of the pain was her left temple. Her vision was blurred, her body crashing into something that made a noise she couldn't focus on. She felt something against her body, and realized from her position that she must have been struck, hit in the temple and knocked to the ground. The tingling feeling that spread through her limbs must be from the electricity.
"What kind of Hero would strike down a friend!?" he shouted, and Jiro shook her head. She tried to move, but the tingling feeling in her body from the electricity had her a little more numb than she'd like. Her vision slowly started to clear, her ears coming back as she heard more noises. Were they voices? She couldn't be sure. Everything was so fuzzy, hazy even.
The commotion did cause a bit of worry throughout the dorm, even in the added wing where the Ritter resided. Bodies, few at first, began to congregate on the scene, moved in silent, hushed pairs and trios. The first on the scene was Jebediah, who was ahead of his brothers because of a noise that upset him. It was an elevated heartbeat, frantic enough to tell him that someone was in trouble. When he opened the door, his heightened senses, the metaphorical ones that detected evil, were assaulted.
His initial instinct was to grab Kaminari, catching him in a Full Nelson Hold and dragging him backwards, a crowd already forming around him. "The fuck happened!?" Raphael asked, his concern causing his tongue to slip. Jebediah grit his teeth against his struggling captive, his body being sieged by an electric shock that loosened his grip slightly. "Sons of Sodom!" he shouted, Kaminari coming free of his grip.
Both Tenya Iida and Ojiro grabbed him, holding him back while a few of the female students went into the room to check on their friend, who seemed dazed. She was somewhere between electrocuted and concussed, her body functioning but her mind elsewhere. It was an odd sight, something that was made even worse by the slight burn across her temple. Along her eyebrow and beneath her eyelid were markings, almost like the kind of mark you'd see on someone struck by lightning.
"What's gotten into you!?" Ojiro shouted, Kaminari's struggling and shocking continuing despite their stalwart efforts to restrain him. Till frowned, a stench coming from Kaminari that was actually familiar to him. "It's Rusalka." he said, and Raphael frowned. "How the hell did she get to him?" he asked, and a few of the gathered students focused on the conversation.
"Her range is great enough that all she had to do is be in the same city. With his mental state, he'd offer no resistance." he mused, Kaminari finally breaking free of his two captors before taking another step towards the room. Everyone took a defensive stance, or made to move in between them, the Ritter still trying to wrack their brains about how he was afflicted.
A green light blasted pass them, a scarred fist striking Kaminari in the jaw and knocking him back, right into the grip of Bakugo, who wasn't too happy with the unconscious body being essentially thrown at him. He looked to Deku, who stood with an incensed look on his features. "What's wrong with you Kaminari!?" he shouted, his grit teeth matching his tense muscles.
The glowing boy looked to the room, seeing the mark on Jiro's face and the girls huddled around her, coddling her like some kind of domestic abuse victim. It was incredibly upsetting to him, and he turned his growing anger on Kaminari, who was still unconscious.
"You better have a good explanation when you wake up!" he shouted, his hands quivering before he sped off, his arrival and departure only a minute or so apart. It was odd to most of them, but the Ritter were fully aware of why the green haired student fled from the scene so suddenly.
With Kaminari in the infirmary, and Jiro in a separate location, the Ritter sat with the rest of the students, along with Captain Ezekiel and their homeroom teacher, Mr. Aizawa. Ezekiel looked to his students, who all nodded silently as they decided to take turns speaking.
"Kaminari's actions were due to the Quirk of a member of the X-Force." Till explained, frowning as he realized that they'd be unable to deflect blame for drawing these people to their host's country. To them, it was only a matter of time, but Till personally doubted that.
"Her name is Vanessa Baptiste. She's a half-French member of the X-Force. Her code name is 'Rusalka', after tales of a dancing ghost woman." Jebediah continued, realizing that with Rusalka and Psylocke in the area, that they'd be less safe than initially anticipated.
"Her Quirk is called 'Triumvirate'. It allows her to manipulate three of the seven sins, as long as those three sins are all present in her target at once. Her range is at least that of a large city, and she can affect up to two people at once." Raphael finished, his explanation confusing a couple of them.
"Wait, how do you manipulate a 'sin'? That doesn't make much sense to me." Kirishima stated, and Jebediah sighed, scratching his head as he pulled his hair back. "I hate to break someone's confidence in the Lord, but I pray he'll forgive me for this." he mused, more to himself as he tightened the ponytail he tied his hair in.
"Triumvirate works by manipulating three Sins, as Raph stated. First, she targeted his Gluttony. His desire to have Kyoka Jiro to himself." he explained, a few whispers breaking out. With his enhanced hearing thanks to his Quirk, Jebediah was able to make out Ashido saying 'I knew he had the hots for her but geez', something that made him almost laugh.
"Second, she targeted his Envy. Now, Triumvirate is so effective because of how similar some of the seven sins are. By manipulating someone's Gluttony and Envy, you by extension rile up their Greed and Lust, and sometimes Pride. In this case, she took shots at his Pride by making him jealous that the girl that was the subject of his Gluttony and Lust was the sole female in her group. Using one Sin to manipulate others is what makes her dangerous." he continued, a few nodding heads and narrowing eyes showing him that they followed him, if only barely.
"Finally, the end result was that all of those sins being poked and prodded at was that his Wrath flared up, leading to him growing violent. We were only able to identify Rusalka's involvement because we knew not only her, but Kaminari as well. Unfortunately, unless you have the ability to… detect, or measure someone's sins, you wouldn't be able to discern Rusalka's Quirk from a psychotic break."
A few questioning glances were sent their way, for varying reasons. "We assumed initially that Rusalka was involved to keep tabs on Eros. However, we found Eros interestingly absent from Frau Jiro's room. Did she inform any of you of his whereabouts?" Till asked, his gloomy gaze weighing on all of them. Silence reigned over the room like a plague, Aizawa glancing to Ezekiel, who closed his eyes when he realized what the scarf wearing man was implying.
"Her target was Kaminari for the fact that his sins focused around Frau Jiro. This is all a means of controlling Eros by threatening her." he stated, the other Ritter looking to their captain confused. "Controlling him? Why would they need to do that?" Momo asked, rather interested in how her classmates tied into this bad blood between European factions.
"Because they want to assure his compliance. We weren't planning on sharing this information with all of you, since it was only meant for faculty to divulge when necessary during combat." he explained, and Till's dead gaze moved to their captain. He was the most intelligent of the three remaining Ritter, and he wasn't surprised that it came to this. If Ezekiel was asked to give his 'word' or make a 'promise', he'd be unable to share with them. The Lord would not be willing to forgive a man that goes back on his word.
"So what are our orders? Do we act like glorified police, or are we acting as the Knights of God we call ourselves?" he asked, Ezekiel sighing as he looked to Till, Jebediah and Raphael slowly understand what was going on. The pieces were all coming together in their minds, a metaphorical lightbulb dinging and shining like a halo.
"All of us have the same orders. We are to capture any Villain that attacks the school. It does not matter if it's Rusalka, Psylocke, the League of Villains or a pickpocket. They are to all be taken in alive. If Eros confronts any of you, please do what you must. In this land, he is guilty of at the very least assaulting Frau Joke."
