Mouse was lay in bed with Quinn stroking her hair. Cami's school was on a teacher training day and her Grandma had taken her away for a long weekend. They had both managed to get the Friday off work and were making the most of the alone time. He knew it was only because Hank had a soft spot when it came to Quinn that his request had even been approved.
"What are you thinking about?" She asked looking up at him.
"That this is a perfect day" He replied kissing the top of her head.
She nodded closing her eyes as she rested her head on his chest. His stomach grumbling made her open an eye. She looked up at his resting her head on her elbow.
"I guess we shouldn't have left breakfast so late" She smirked as the alarm clock was flashing 11am.
Her curls were all mussed up falling over her bare shoulders.
"Yes, we should have" He nodded pulling her on top of him.
"Hey" She squealed surprised giggling as he put a hand on her cheek pulling her down to kiss him.
"We can't stay in here all day" She said biting her lip.
"All weekend?" He asked.
"Greg Gerwitz I'm going to start thinking you're only after one thing" She teased.
"Just making the most of alone time" He replied kissing her neck.
"Maybe a little longer wouldn't hurt" She said as he rolled them, so she was underneath him.
Quinn couldn't keep the smile from her face as she put on a pot of coffee. She stood barefoot in the kitchen wearing Mouse's t-shirt.
She jumped as he placed his hands on her hips.
"So, what did you want to do today?" She asked turning around and leaning against the kitchen counter.
"Well" He said stepping forward so she was pinned between him and the counter "I thought we could spend the day here"
"All day?" She asked as he fingers ran higher towards the hem of the t-shirt.
"All day" He nodded "And then I would like to take you to that restaurant you have not shut up about since it opened"
"You got reservations?" She asked throwing her arms around him "The waitlist is months"
"I can be persuasive" He shrugged.
"You've got some secret side I don't know about?" She asked raising an eyebrow.
"A lot more" He nodded leaning into kiss her.
Quinn groaned as her phone started to ring but it was Gabby's name flashing on the screen. She mouthed 'sorry' before picking it up.
"Hey Gabby" She said, "Is everything ok?"
"I know it's your romantic weekend alone" Gabby said "But I wouldn't ask if I wasn't desperate"
Mouse's face dropped as he heard Gabby on the other end of the phone.
"What is it?" She asked.
"My babysitter dropped Louie here, she apparently forgot she had an appointment but I'm on shift until tomorrow" Gabby said "Is there any chanceā¦"
"Of course," She replied "I'll head right over"
Gabby had fought hard to foster a little boy she had saved in a fire. Quinn had helped her get Herrmann's apartment ready and she had fallen in love with that little boy as well. It was impossible not to. She knew Kelly had moved out of the apartment with Matt so that Gabby and Louie could move back in. She was so happy that Gabby and Matt had worked things out to be a family. There was no doubt that Louie belonged with them.
"No perfect weekend?" Mouse asked as she hung up the phone.
"It's just one night" She replied "But it means no restaurant, I'm so sorry"
"You help your friends" He shrugged "It's one of the things I love about you"
"Love about me?" She asked with a smile as he looked awkwardly around the room "How understanding you are is one of the things I love about you too"
"I'll drive you" He said.
"You don't have to spend the day with us" She said "I'll understand"
"It's our weekend" He pointed out "I'm not going anywhere"
Quinn got showered and dressed and Mouse drove them over to firehouse 51. He took her hand as they walked inside.
"Hey" Kelly said as she walked in "What are you doing here?"
"Looking for Gabby" She replied, "What happened to your hand that looks nasty?"
"It's nothing" Kelly said shaking his head "Gabby's through in the common room I think"
Gabby was in the office with Connie and Louie. Louie was happily playing with his firetruck. Gabby sighed with relief when she saw them both.
"I am so sorry" Gabby said "You two are lifesavers really"
"Anytime" She replied putting her hand to her heart as she looked at Louie's little face "He's almost too cute to even look at, is that thing?"
"He's amazing" Gabby agreed.
The look of love on her face was undeniable.
"You look really happy" Mouse told her.
"So, do you both" Gabby said "I am very into this whole thing"
"Hey little man" She said walking over to Louie "How would you like to come to a sleepover at my house, we can go to the park and feed the ducks"
"Cami?" Louie asked.
Quinn and Cami had visited Gabby and Louie a few times. Cami loved reading Louie stories and spending time with him.
"Not today she's at her Grandma's, but you can come and play with me" She said, "Does that sound good?"
"Ok" He said.
"I'll see you in one sleep ok?" Gabby said kissing his head "Thank you again"
Gabby walked out with them to give them the car seat from her car and to say goodbye again.
"Everything will be fine" she reassured her "I promise not to leave Greg alone with the baby"
"I would argue with that but it's true I will not be left alone with the baby" He nodded "But that vase breaking was all Cami"
"Yeah blame the 8-year-old" She teased "You should know better than to play football in my living room"
"Soccer" He corrected "Different shaped ball"
"I'll be by in the morning" Gabby laughed "I finish at 8 I'll be straight over"
"No rush" She told her "We are going to have a great day, right Louie?"
Louie waved goodbye to Gabby as she strapped him in his car seat. Quinn gave her a hug goodbye and reminded her that they needed a night out with Sylvie soon.
The picked up some bread on the way and went to the park to feed the ducks. Mouse pushed Louie on the swings and Quinn took him down the slide.
Later than night Mouse watched Quinn on the couch with Louie snuggled up beside her clutching his blanket as she read him a bedtime story. She was stroking his hair as his eyes slowly closed.
"You're a natural at that" He said quietly sitting on the other end of the couch.
"Well I have done it before" She pointed out "And he is one of the best behaved 3-year old's I've ever met"
"He's pretty cool" He agreed.
"But kids still freak you out?" She teased.
"Only if I'm responsible for them" He said with a smile.
"I'll put this little one to bed" she said getting ready to lift him.
"I'll help" He said picking up Louie and following Quinn into Cami's room to set him down.
Quinn tucked him in and kissed his head. She left the door slightly open and the hall light on incase he got up in the night.
"I'm sorry about tonight" She said as they sat down on the couch.
"Don't be" He said putting an arm around her as she put the tv on low "It was a good day"
"And this morning was amazing" She nodded.
"You were making amazed sounds" He joked.
"You're such an idiot" she laughed hitting him in the chest "Don't make me take it back"
"Is that one of the things you love about me?" He teased.
"We're comparing lists?" She asked, "What things do you love about me?"
"I just love you" He told her honestly taking her hand.
"I love you too" She said softly.
Mouse couldn't remember the last time he had said that to someone, but he really felt it with Quinn. He was fairly sure he loved her from the day he met her, and he had been completely aware of it when he spent the whole night with her when Nadia had been taken.
"Move in with me" He said.
"What?" She asked surprised "Are you crazy, don't you think that's a little fast. I come with a lot"
"I know that" He told her "But I know being with you is the happiest I've been in a long time"
"I need time to think" She said "I'd need to see how Cami feels, but you make me really happy too, I do love you"
"Thinking about it is good enough for me" He said "I know I sprung it on you"
"If it was just me I'd say yes in a heartbeat" She reassured him.
