Twenty Three – Tomorrow
A few days passed before Adrien approached Nathaniël at school. Adrien, of course, didn't know that Nathaniël was Renaise, but he did know that Nathaniël knew about Lila's lies.
"You've said multiple times that Lila is a liar," he began. "And I'm ready to believe you…"
Nathaniël nodded. "But the rest of the class doesn't."
Adrien looked away. "I'm… friends… with Chat Noir. I've asked him to drop by the school tomorrow and expose Lila."
Nathaniël grinned. "Tomorrow? Sounds great!" He wanted to hurry and tell Marinette the news, but he didn't know how she'd react. After all, she'd wanted him to give up on this. Finally, he decided that he'd keep it a surprise until tomorrow.
However, he had one other thing to fix.
Heading to M. Damocles' office, Nathaniël shoved the door open. "Monsieur Damocles?" he asked. "Can I have a moment?"
The principal nodded, and Nathaniël stepped inside. "Um… this is concerning Lila. You already know she's lying, why isn't Marinette back in school?"
"Marinette?" he asked. "Oh! Um… well…" he looked around guiltily.
"Did you forget?" Nathaniël demanded.
"What? No!" the principal covered. "I'll just need time to sort out the paperwork. She can come to school whenever she gets out of the hospital."
Nathaniël nodded. Marinette was due to be discharged tomorrow. It was all perfect timing. If all went well, she'd return a hero.
He couldn't wait until tomorrow.
