"This photo is going to look amazing on Christmas cards." Lucas looked at the image on his phone screen before looking back at his wife as she sat on the dead tree stump near the lake.
"Are you sure that's the picture you want to use?" She watched her husband look up, "I just have another shot in mind. Set the phone back on the tripod and set the timer."
"Okay, we've got all afternoon so we can take as many pictures as you want. I know you want to get our first Christmas card as Dr. and Mrs. Friar right." He set everything back up, and went to set the timer before getting back into place.
"Ready?" Riley smirked as she flipped over the chalkboard that had said Merry Christmas, and now had a new message.
Lucas didn't look down, kept his eyes forward afraid he would blink during the moment the photo was taken.
"Let's see it." Riley had put the sign down before Lucas saw it as he moved back over to the tripod. She watched as his brow knitted with confusion over the sign, "Lucas, honey, you okay?"
"You're not holding up a Merry Christmas sign in this last one." He kept his eyes on the screen of his phone, "It kind of looks like a sonogram picture, like blown up."
"Yeah, that's what it is." She picked the sign up again, her fingers drumming along the edge as she waited for him to look up, a smile on her face.
Lucas slowly looked up to his wife, seeing the large sonogram photo with his own eyes. "Riley" he took a few slow steps towards her.
"This is a picture of our babies." She watched his eyes grow even wider.
"Babies, as in multiple?" His breathing was fast and deep as he processed the new information, 'When did this happen?"
Riley took his hand in hers, as his green eyes fell upon her brown ones, "Well not our Honeymoon, but not long after we moved down here. You know, once we got away from my parents."
"He's going to kill me." Lucas gasped.
Riley shook her head, "My Dad is not going to kill you, we're giving him grandchildren, better yet, we are going to be parents."
"This is real, we're having twins?" He sat down on the stump next to her.
"Yeah, I was trying to figure out how to tell you. Are you okay with this?"
Lucas was silent for a moment, twins, not just one baby but two, at once. "When are they due?"
"April, they'll probably be Aries like you." She watched him crack a smile.
"You think so?"
"Yeah, I mean looking at when they're due, most likely."
Lucas tentatively reached over, "So, you know its twins, but do you know if they're boys or girls?"
"Not yet, we can find that out later, right around Christmas."
"Wow, twins, good thing we have a lot of room."
"Yeah, we're ready for the Lucas, it wouldn't have happened if we weren't."
He smiled, "I know, I can't wait for this adventure."
"I'm glad to hear that," she gave him a quick kiss, "so, should we take more pictures or go back to the house and celebrate."
"Celebrate" he said without hesitation.
Riley laughed as they began to pack up, "I had a feeling you would say that."
"Oh, did you?" He lifted her in his arms, kissing her deeply as she draped herself around him.
"I did, it's the perk of knowing you as long as I have." She giggled when he pulled her into a fireman carry, "Lucas Friar what are you doing?"
"Getting you to bed." He chuckled as they got closer to the house.
