A few hours later Maura and Jane leave the party early to spend the rest of the time they had alone together. Once back at Maura's Jane couldn't hold back anymore. She pressed Maura against the door as soon as it closed.

She kissed and nipped at Mauras neck working her way to her lips. As there lips clashed together in a heated but passionate kiss which induced a moan from Maura.

She stopped the kiss momentarily. "Jane." Maura rasped between breaths. "Are you sure?" She asked searching those deep brown eyes for any sign of regret.

Jane kissed her again before answering. "I've been thinking about this since we talked this morning Maur...I've never been more sure of anything in my life. I want this...I want you"

That last sentence was all Maura need to hear before melting into Jane's embrace and kiss.

In one fluid motion Jane picked Maura up causing a giggle to escape the blonde, instinctively she wrapped her legs around the thin waist and allowed her girlfriend to carry her upstairs it wasn't the easiest feat for Jane but she didn't care she wanted to end this night, there last night together wrapped up in each other.

As the time passed they made love to one another, taking turns exploring each other until they were both spent.

As Jane laid beside the beautiful woman watching her cheat rise and fall until her breathing became normal she smiled to herself. Maura was drawing lazy circles on Jane's forearm with a content look on her face.

"Jane?" Maura said into the darkness.

"Yeah Maur?" Jane replied opening her eyes to look over at her naked girlfriend.

"I love you." She said rolling onto her side to look at Jane.

She placed her hand to the side of Maura's face affectionately. "I love you too Maur."

The blondes eyes started to fill with tears as the thought of leaving this all behind even if it was just for a year came crashing down on her.

"Aw babe don't cry. Everything will be okay. This isn't goodbye its see you later."

Maura was quiet for a moment. "Will you take me to the airport?"

"Of course love, me, frankie, ma and tommy we are all taking you to the airport." Jane said wiping away the few tears that streamed down her lovers face.

"Am I making the right choice? A year is a long time to be away...what if..." she paused a moment to collect her thoughts. "What if you get tired of waiting for me and find someone else?" She said looking away.

"Maur, I've told you before...you are it for me. I don't want anyone else you have my whole heart. You are the reason I breathe, you are the reason I wake up every morning. You don't have to worry baby I don't want anyone else...ever."

Maura smiled at the loving words. She knew in her heart she didn't need to worry she needed her brain to catch up.

"Let's get a little rest before we have to get you packed and to the airport." Jane says pulling Maura to her snapping the blonde from her thoughgs. She rested her head on the brunettes strong chest and breathed in the smell that is Jane.

"I'm going to miss your smell." Maura says sleepily.

Jane smiled, she knew Maura well and so Jane had already packed one of her favorite Boston Red Sox shirts into Maura's suitcase. She wanted the blonde to have something familiar because otherwise she wouldn't sleep.

Jane kissed the top of Maura's head. "I'm going to miss yours too Maur." She whispered. She knew by the even breaths Maura was taking that she had drifted off to sleep. Jane laid awake just holding her girlfriend tightly against her, she didn't want to sleep, she just wanted to hold her until she wasn't able to anymore.

4 AM came faster then either woman would have liked. Maura was up and out of bed before Jane. She wanted to quickly pack so she could have just a little more alone time with the brunette. She made her way into her closet and pulled out a large suitcase, luggage bag for her dresses and a smaller suitcase for her carry on.

As she opened up the large suitcase she noticed Jane's shirt and smiled. She couldn't believe how amazingly sweet Jane could be. She placed the shirt back inside and start filling it with the clothes she wanted to take. She knew to leave some extra room because she was sure she would shop while away and Jane would flip if she came home with more suitcases then what she had left with. After packing up all her bags she sat back on her heels and sighed.

"Already done?" She heard the tired, raspy voice say from the closet doorway.

"It would seem that way. I wanted to do it quickly to have a few more minutes alone with you before everyone arrived." The blonde stated looking up into big brown eyes that held so much love. She wasn't even sure why everyone wanted to ride to the airport but she figured it was because they knew Jane would need the comfort but also because she was considered family.

Jane reached her hand out and Maura took it. She quickly wrapped around the tall brunette. This was going to be more difficult then she had anticipated.

Jane cleared her throat to try and rid herself of the treating tears.

"How about we head downstairs and make breakfast one more time before you go? She asked rubbing up and down Maura's back in a soothing manner.

"That sounds great my love."

Downstairs in the kitchen Jane had Maura sit while she made breakfast and coffee. As they sat at the table enjoying their breakfast the doorbell rang.

"That's gotta be them, I'll get it babe you stay." Jane said excusing herself from the table. As she opened the door Frankie, Angela and Tommy stood waiting to come in.

"Morning guys, come on in."

Before Jane could make it back to her plate Tommy had already sat in her chair and was eating her bacon.

"Sure Tommy you can have my breakfast!" Jane said amused.

"Sorry Janie, Ma wouldn't stop on the way here."

"S'okay, I was done anyway." If she was telling the truth she wasn't all that hungry. Her stomach was in knots over the departure of her girlfriend that was fast approaching.

"Maura, sweetie we are going to miss you. We will keep Janie here in line until you come home." Angela says with a smile wrapping an arm around the blonde tightly.

"I'm going to miss all of you as well. Did you hear that Jane?" Maura asked rasing a playful eyebrow at her girlfriend.

"Um what was that?" The brunette remarked as if she hadn't heard a word.

"Your mother and your brothers are going to keep an eye on while I'm gone so that means no unhealthy eating all the time." Maura said with a grin.

Jane laughed. "Maur, I promise to watch what I eat and I will drink plenty of water."

"That's my girl." The blonde said back with a full smile.

Maura looked down at watch it was just passed 5:30 am she sighed looking around her kitchen at the mess from breakfast.

"Maura don't worry about the mess Janie and I will take care if it but I'm guessing that now we have to leave and get you to the airport." Angela said looking at Frankie and Tommy. "Why don't you two be gentlemen and grab Maura's bags."

"Sure Ma." Frankie replied.

On the way to the airport the mood in the car was surreal for everyone Maura was leaving for a year. Everyone in the car was wondering the same thing. How would Jane handle this? But each knew they would be by Jane's side until Maura returned.

The time had finally came for them all to say goodbye. Angela went first trying her best not to cry, followed by Tommy and then Frankie.

"Take care of yourself while you are gone we all need you to come home in the end because let's face it Jane is going to be a mess while your gone." Frankie said with a crooked smile.

Maura smiled back but she knew the words he spoke were true. Jane would be a mess but she was grateful that the academy would keep Jane's mind busy for most of their time apart.

When it was time for Jane to say goodbye the brunette shifted from one foot to the other.

"I'm not very good at goodbyes Maur. But I love you and I will be waiting for you." Jane said finally stepping forward to hold her girlfriend.

"I'm not going to war my love, I will be home before you know it. And this isn't a goodbye, it's see you later. Remember?" Maura said kissing Jane softly. She spoke those words, but little did she know just how soon she would be returning.

The final boarding call was made. Maura reluctantly pried herself from Jane's arms. "I have to go now love but I will call you as soon as I land."

Jane took a deep breath trying to fight her emotions she pulled Maura back in tightly not yet ready to let her leave. "Stay." Jane whispered...the single word broke Maura's heart.

"Jane baby, look at me. I love you, I will be fine and so will you. We will be in each others arms again soon. But I have to go I've already committed to this." Maura said wiping away her own tears and then Janes.

"I know Maur, I just couldn't let you leave, not without atleast trying to make you stay. I love you so much and I'm going to miss you like crazy."

Maura smiled softly. "I'm going to miss you too Jane more then you know. She leaned in closing the gap between them. The kiss was unhurried and sweet.

Jane pulled away slightly placing their foreheads together. "You better go before I have to stow away on your plane." She says with a chuckle and half smile.

"Jane." Maura says with a smile. She leans in one last time kissing the brunette deeply. "I love you."

"I love you too Maur."

With that Maura grabs her carry on hands her ticket over. Before the door could close behind her she turns to get one last glimpse of her beautiful girlfriend. She smiles and blows Jane a kiss. She chuckled slightly when Jane grabbed the unseen kiss and placed it to her heart before blowing one back. Maura turned and headed to the plane letting the door close behind her. Before the plan took off Muara sent Jane one last text before having to turn her phone off.

"Remember Jane I love you, my heart beats for only you. I will be back before you know it. I will call when I land." Xoxo M. She sighed to herself before turning her phone off and placing it back in her purse.

Jane stood at the window and watched Maura's plane take off. She pulled out her phone to see a text from the blonde. She smiled to herself. She knew they would be okay and that she would be home before they knew it but it didn't mean it didn't hurt any less.
