Chapter 25

The girls were all in Mal and Evie's room getting ready for the party that evening. While Evie was working on Lonnie and Jane, Mal was uploading her pictures onto the girls shared laptop. Flicking through them she decided that perhaps Mrs Fitz had a point, she did really seem to have an eye for picturing people.

She pulled up one of Jane flying in mid-air performing one of the numerous tricks. "Jane, come over here - this is the one" she said indicating towards the screen. The smile on the girl's face was worth having to suffer through the performance a couple of hours earlier.

"You've got to send that to me!" Jane almost squealed. "Thank you so much, I swear the official school photographer has been paid off by Audrey's grandmother to only take her picture."

Mal decided she'd make a folder for each of the girls. Each of them had a few group shots from the match. Jane's had additional ones off the cheer teams and some Carlos shots, Evie's had some of Doug playing the trumpet and Lonnie's had some of Jay. Mal mused that Jay really was rather photogenic, she'd have to try and paint pictures of them from when they were younger to try and capture what couldn't have been then. She created a fourth folder for Harry and Gil, if they wished to share any with their family. A final folder was made to be sent to Mrs Fitz, she'd showed her earlier where to put the folder to allow the teacher access to it.

"Mal, your turn" Evie called to her, pulling her attention away from the computer screen. "Do I have to?" she practically whined.

"Come on, Harry will like it - I promise" Evie smiled trying to encourage her friend.

The other three were already dressed for the event, with Jane and Lonnie wanting to look through all the other photos while Mal was getting her makeover. Jane was in a cobalt blue skater dress with a funnel neck, it really highlighted her doe like eyes. Lonnie was in a light pink floral wrap dress, almost oriental in style.

Once Mal was sat at Evie's dressing table her blue haired friend began working on her hair. Soon she had loose curls flowing down to her shoulder blades, with the front pinned back to keep it off her face. Thankfully Evie only applied fairly light makeup with a slight smokey eye effect being used.

Once her makeup was complete Evie went to her wardrobe to pull out her designated dress for the evening. It was gorgeous, but not far off being scandalous. It was made of leather, the colour was such a deep purple that in certain lights it almost looked a midnight blue colour. Thankfully the heels were more of a wedged design than Evie's usual stiletto style.

When she put the dress on it ended only a couple of inches below her bottom, with slits out of either side - only just covering her Hook tattoo. "E, while this may be the norm on the Isle I'm not too sure it's acceptable here…" she said, eyeing her friend. Her comment caused the other two girls to look over from the computer.

"My god Mal! Harry won't be able to keep his hands off you dressed like that!" Lonnie exclaimed, being far more comfortable talking about relationships.

"That's the plan Lonnie" Evie responded while smirking at her.

"Jane? Your mom won't be there right?" Mal asked the other half-fairy, slightly apprehensive about the potential trouble.

"No, this is the one thing she turns a blind eye to. Plus there will be some Auradon girls dressed similarly as tonight is one of the only chances they get to drop the 'perfect' look." Jane responded, managing to settle the other girls nerves.

Lonnie quickly glanced back at the pictures on the screen, it was an action shot of Harry running with the ball on his stick, look of deep concentration on his face. You could clearly see the war paint he'd put on his cheeks and Mal had to admit he did look absolutely gorgeous in it.

"If this picture makes it into the general school population he'll be glad he's already taken, as otherwise there would be a queue" Lonnie said to Mal causing the purple haired girl to laugh.

"Sorry but he's taken and I'm hooked" she said with a smirk, knowing that Lonnie was only teasing. She'd raised her arms at the end of her statement in an exaggerated shrug, enough to move the position of her dress exposing the top of her tattoo.

"Mal, what's that on your hip?" Jane asked, having spotted the top of it. Despite knowing exactly what Jane meant she still had to look to double check.

"It's just a tattoo" she responded, momentarily forgetting they were not the done thing in Auradon and you had to be 18 to get one.

"You have a tattoo?" Jane almost shouted in shock, "how on earth did you get that done?"

"Jane, it's not so unusual on the Isle - Jay, Gil and Harry all have them." Evie responded. "Although Harry's are the best as he had as artist do them" shooting her friend a look.

At this Mal changed the position of the dress to fully reveal it. It was the hook that Harry always wore with the slight difference of having both her and Harry's name on it in place of some of the Gaelic text on the real one. "Is that Harry's?" Lonnie asked, recognising the weapon. "Yes, it is, had it done when I was 13 or 14" Mal completed.

"Who did it?" Jane asked, appearing to be genuinely curious.

"I drew it but Harry was the one to actually ink me. He's got way more than me though - he became my personal easel."

"Does he have any for you, like you have for him?" Lonnie asked. There was something she found romantic about the pair having something so permanent shared between them.

"He's got my dragon form on his left shoulder blade, if the team do their normal topless brigade you'll get to see most of them, and Jay's" she finished with a smirk in Lonnie's direction.

"I've seen most of them by now I think" she admitted with a small blush.

This cause Evie and Mal to laugh, Jane just looked marginally uncomfortable. Her relationship with Carlos was still at the very sweet hand holding with small pecks stage.

By this stage Evie had put her dress on that she would be wearing - thankfully the style wasn't too dissimilar from Mal's, just the colour scheme was more Evie-esque.

Unfortunately, Ellie wouldn't be attending the victory party as her mother had requested an evening with her. Apparently, they were going out for dinner and staying in one of the towns' hotels.

The four girls left the room and headed towards the party's location - the main ball room. When they arrived, someone had clearly been decorating it for most of the afternoon, it was decked out in the teams colours with pictures of the team around the room. A bar and food area had been erected against one of the rooms walls. Mal and Evie suspected there would be alcohol stored under the table, if the male VK's had anything to do with it.

"Hopefully they've got the good stuff" Mal said to Evie eyeing up the drinks table. They'd come to the realisation that when alcohol made an appearance in Auradon it was the fancy stuff - champagne and fine wines. However alcohol was a staple at all Isle parties where the teens were involved and was normally a mixture of rums, whiskeys and vodkas. Mostly from the ships stores. If they were lucky some cider would occasional come on the supplied barrage from the mainland.

"They'd better do" Evie responded, "I miss the wild parties." Mal just nodded in agreement knowing what her best friend meant.

The room began to fill up with other students, and true to Jane's earlier words there were a few other girls in scandalous dresses. It was an odd sight when you thought about the preppy look they would usually sport. Once the room was full of mingling students the victorious tourney team made their grand entrance.

They were all wearing tight black jeans with their letterman jackets, although it was clear there was nothing under those jackets.

The team were at the far end of the room on the makeshift stage, all smiling at the awaiting crowd. Jay started proceedings by giving a quick thanks to his team mates and also to everyone for coming out to support.

Once the 'formalities' were done the party truly kicked off, the team dispersing amongst the crowd getting many gestures of congratulations as they passed through. Music started playing from the edge of the room, the sort that would normally be found in a night club.

Drinks had begun flowing, it was clear most weren't used to holding their liquor. The four girls had been dancing as a group, knowing the boys would catch up with them. Doug had already managed to find Evie, his stuttering mess of a reaction to seeing her in the dress causing the other three to burst into giggles.

Suddenly Mal felt an arm snake round her waist, the hand coming to rest over the exposed skin, just above the tattoo.

"Would the most beautiful wee princess in attendance like a drink?" A voice greeted her, followed by the other arm of her captor appearing from around her other side holding a red plastic cup.

Taking a quick sniff of the offered liquid, a wicked grin appeared over her face. From what she could tell it was the same whiskey they'd drank on their first 'date'.

"Harry, you remembered!" she said while turning round to face her favourite tourney player, "where did you get this from?"

"Turns out those sisters of mine are scheming romantics - Harriett sent me a bottle" he smiled, giving her a small kiss. "By the way, you look amazing - although I'd rather it was on my floor" he said wiggling his eyebrows in a suggestive manor while running his thumb over her own hook.

"Not as good as you look right now" Mal replied, admiring his body on display under the jacket.

She took the opportunity to take a sip of the whiskey offered to her, she could tell from his breath that the boys had probably began drinking before they arrived.

From the corner of her eye she could see Jane gaping at Harry's exposed chest. "Is there anyway you could just submit Harry for your art course work?" She asked Mal, clearly impressed at the level of detail in the designs.

Harry shot her a funny look, not quite sure what was going on.

"I wish! It would make life easier." Mal replied knowing her class and teacher would appreciate the work, perhaps she should show them the sketch book with the various designs in it.

"GIL, CARLOS, HARRY" Jay shouted over the music to grab their attention, "IT'S TIME."

With that comment the boys headed off, rounding up the rest of the team on the way, making their way towards the stage - it must be time for The Challenge.

The Challenge was devised by the school's first tourney team, it basically consisted of the team stripping down to their boxers and undertaking a serious of challenges that on any other day of the year would get them suspended or potentially expelled.

Pretty much the entire rooms attention was on the two pirates. It made sense as the previous year the eyes were mostly all on Jay due to the shock his two relatively small tattoos caused. Harry briefly turned around to say something to Gil, exposing his left shoulder blade just long enough for almost all the students to get a good look at it. The biggest problem was that the same students had seen that exact dragon up close and personal only a couple of months earlier - not something you were likely to forget.

The girls and Doug could already see Audrey talking to Ben, firing a dirty look in Mal's direction. Whispers were also whipping around the room - they'd have to keep a close eye on the schools social media to see what was being said.

"Perhaps we should get some fresh air" Evie said to Mal, sensing the brewing storm. Mal just nodded and the two began to head to the corridor

Unknown to the two girls they were being followed by a certain King and Princess - neither particularly happy about the revelation, not that the alcohol consumed was helping.

"You ruined my life for a lie!" the Prissy Pink Princess snarled at Mal.

"What are you on about Audrey?" she responded, not quite sure what the other girl was on about.

"You stole MY boyfriend, then couldn't handle it and ran away, almost getting him KILLED!" Audrey raged, indicating towards Ben at the same time. "That lame pirate literally has you on his body - and that's not happened since he arrived here!"

Ben cast the two VK's an apologetic look, not really knowing what to say.

"So Harry has a tattoo of a dragon - what's the big deal?" Mal said rising to the challenge, knowing Audrey would most likely have no memory of this come the morning, although Ben, Evie and herself would. Ben would rarely drink more than a glass as part of a toast, and both herself and Evie could handle it.

"You're the only dragon round here and you look exactly like the one on him." said Audrey thinking she'd won the verbal sparing.

"Fine, that was his 14th birthday present from me. Why do you care? Is it because no one's ever loved you enough?" Mal retorted ensuring she got a good view off the hook on her hip.

"E, when the boy's get back from their 'adventure' tell Harry to bring the good stuff and come find me" she said and began to saunter back in the direction of the dorms. Evie nodded at her friend, knowing she'd text her the location the pirate was to be dispatched too.

Audrey just huffed and stormed back off towards the ball room. Evie could tell that Mal had hit a nerve with her words and was proud of her friend for not resorting to magic or violence.

Ben and Evie were left in the corridor. Breaking the forming silence Ben spoke up, "It explains why she never took me up on the swimming lessons" he said smiling at Evie.

"Thank you Ben, for being so understanding" replied the blue haired girl, amazed at how the King was handling everything going on.

"To tell you the truth Evie, the love spell was the best thing Mal could have done - she managed to do what I'd been struggling to for weeks. Get rid of Audrey! I can now see the damage I did to her, and she was never this happy before Harry" he shrugged not really knowing what else to say. "Although if I'd seen that before she ran to the Isle, it probably wouldn't have gone down well" he trailed off.

"Come on Your Majesty - there's still a party going on" Evie said and led the King back to the celebration.
