TWENTY-ONE

There was a shift in the wind as if telling him that there was something wrong with his business. Slowly he nudged the black stallion that he was on up the hill and towards town. The town seemed to bustling not like he expected it to be. He had received a call that someone had spotted a vampire here.

"What do you think old buddy?" the rider asked the horse. "Yeah... me too." The rider nudged the horse forward softly knowing that it didn't take much to move the beast. The black stallion moved forward being wary not to trample anyone underfoot. The rider and his horse stopped at a stable where the horse could rest for the night. The rider got off saying goodbye to his friend before he moved through the town. The rider stopped at a few stands asking people if they had seen anything unusual. Only when he got to a fruit stand did he find out anything.

"You are a hunter... Aren't you?" the man at the stand asked earning a nod from the stranger. "There's a count who lives by himself up over the hill. He only comes down every once in a while."

"What exactly does he do when he's down here?" the hunter asked as his gray-blue eyes were shining with interest.

"He sells animal skins, animal bones transformed into certain accessories, and their meat. He doesn't bother anyone. I haven't seen him in a while. But last time he came, he had a boy with him. He was an old one with white hair and a weird scar on his face. But he was very friendly as he performed tricks at the counts stand. We don't bother him as he doesn't bother us. He only comes when he needs to sell his wares."

The hunter played that thought through his mind what the fruit stand owner told him. The people here weren't bothered by the fact that there was a bloodsucker that lived not so far away. It was if the people in town wasn't aware that the count was a vampire. The hunter walked away from the stand heading up the hill. His mind drifted to the boy that was seen with the vampire. Was he a vampire too, a different supernatural, or a human kept hostage? But what he had heard, this vampire seems more of a loner more than anything. The hunter reached the top of the hill as he stood in awe of the sight of Kanda's mansion.

"Well I will be damned. This one's got taste at least. I can practically feel how strong he is." the hunter sighed to himself as he pushed up a pair of glasses that sat on his face. His blond hair blew wildly in the wind as he wore what looked like standard hunter's gear and outfit. His boots hit the gravel as he moved up to the front doors as he watched as they opened on its own. The hunter continued in as the foyer was beautiful, well kept, and obviously lived in. It was decorated in royal blues, blood reds, rich golds, and raven blacks. The scent of lotus flowers drifted through the home along with the smell belonging to a wolf. 'A were? What is it doing here of all places?' the hunter thought to himself. Slowly the door opened revealing a young man from what the hunter assumed was the kitchen. This young man looked no older than maybe eighteen years old. His white hair stood out from his pale skin as he seemed to be only wearing a white long sleeve dress shirt that looked to be two sizes too big for him. The boy stopped in front of the stairs as he paused sniffing at the air before he turned towards the hunter. He had large silver eyes as an odd scar raked down from his left eye with a branded star at the top of the scar. He had a piece of bread hanging out from his mouth.

"Howdy...…." the hunter greeted. The boys eyes got wide as saucers making him look cuter somehow despite the scar on his face.

"Oh my god...…." the boy mumbled through his food before it dropped to the floor. "A hunter?! What are you doing in here? How did you even get in? Wait...…. Where's Tim?" Allen asked. A golden half demon flew into the boys sensing his master's distress.

"What the hell Allen?" asked a darker voice. Standing at top of the stairs was a tall male who looked to be in his twenties. He had long black hair up into a high ponytail. The opposite of the werewolf named Allen. The older male skin was pale though that didn't hold back the vampire's beauty. He had on a black shirt and gray sweats. His feet were bare. The vampire was instantly in front of the werewolf glaring daggers at the hunter.

"Why have you come uninvited into my home, hunter?" snarled Kanda.

"I came because I was called. But the people in the nearby town don't seemed to be bothered by your presence. I was going to leave it be but then he was human being held captive. But it turns out what he's a werewolf." stated the hunter.

"If that is all you want please leave now!" hissed Kanda causing the hunter to shake his head.

"Sorry I can't do that. After all its my job to deal with your kind. Besides you are no legal vamp."

"Is that what this is all about? Sorry but to tell you that I have lived on this land and owned this mansion for thousands of years. I think that should qualify for something." Kanda replied.

"Kanda? What's going on?" Allen asked behind him in a worried voice.

"I'm not saying that you can't be here. I'm saying that I have to put you down."

The hunter whipped out a riffle shooting it at Allen. Kanda moved blocking the shot with his shoulder. He hissed as the silver dug into flesh.

"Kanda!" Allen yelled out. He went to move close to the vampire but froze when he heard the riffles hammer get cocked back again. Silver and werewolves don't get along. Subconsciously Allen wrapped his arms around his middle, feeling the cub stir because of his stress.

"I am sorry for your pup too!" the hunter stated. Allen looked at him with wide silver eyes. The door suddenly flew open as a black wolf flung himself at the hunter/

"Komui…" Kanda breathed out in a sigh relief. Allen rushed to his mate's side looking him over. Kanda's shoulder was mauled by the bullet as he had no choice but to pull it out. Allen set Tim down who immediately went up to the rafters. Allen took his hands lengthening his nails into claws and began to dig out the bullet. Kanda cringed but tried his best to otherwise not move. As soon as he got it out, Allen watched as Komui dragged the hunter out of the mansion. Allen sighed looking at his mate.

"I need peanut butter after this..."
