When I woke up that morning to see that Sam had texted me. My heart beated a little faster as I pressed the home button to go into the text app to see the full text.
"Hey Jake it was really great meeting you yesterday. You seem like a really cool sweet guy plus you are also very hot and beautifully built. I'd really like to see you again are you free tonight by any chance?" I was very flattered by what he wrote. I was so happy to get a compliment from someone whom I could tell liked me for more than just my body. I was surprised he wanted to meet again so soon but I couldn't wait to see him again and he didn't seem creepy.
"Sure where would you like to meet?" I replied eagerly awaiting his reply. A few moments later he replied with "can meet me in the square outside the Plaza Hotel around 7?." That wasn't too far from where I was based on what I had learned about the city in the short time I had been here.
"yes I will see you there." I replied to which he sent back a thumbs up. I was beyond elated.
What would I tell Josh and Quil though? Would they think it safe for me to go somewhere myself? From what I remembered it didn't appear to be too far. I got dressed and headed into the main living room. Josh happened to be there already and to my surprise he wasn't wearing black leather pants. He was shirtless wearing red leather pants instead. His full physique was a sight to be behold. He was truly jacked.
"Good morning Josh. " I said as he looked up from his book and he replied with the same greeting and I continued with " I got a message from Sam. He's the guy I met at the bar last night. He wants to meet with me tonight by something called the Plaza Hotel." I was a little nervous to continue but I figured I should just be out with it no use in hiding it.
"I already told him I would." I was anxious that Josh would be mad at me or say I shouldn't go out. The council was certain Ivan and his goons would be coming here and it was only a matter of time.
"well sir you're an adult and neither I nor the rest of us can keep you confined here. Im a little weary of you going somewhere yourself but if you feel comfortable meeting him go ahead but allow me to give you some advice. You stay in a public place and you don't go to a private setting. Be alert as well. When are you meeting him" Josh asked.
"730." I told him and Josh responded with "I also have an idea. How about I'll take you over there and watch from afar until he arrives. Trust me neither you nor he will know I'm there. Im like a secret agent when it comes to this stuff. Sound good?" He asked.
"That works for me." I told him.
The rest of the day wasn't very eventful. I checked out more of Jin's library and got to know more of the Ember Ruset members. Before I knew it the time to meet Sam came.
As me and Josh left the building and heading to the meeting site I was in awe yet again at how bustling this place was. It would take some getting used to but I was already beginning to like it and it had only been one day. I already felt a sense of community and belonging something I hadn't felt in a long time.
A few moment after we began walking Josh spoke "Im going to leave you in the middle of the Plaza and then head off to where I can observe you. Once Sam arrives I'll head back. As a precaution since you don't know the city well have him bring you back here."
I was a little puzzled by his statement and immediately said "Why there and not HQ?" to which he replied "You don't need the attention or questions that come from you staying with the Ember Ruset plus when you have a stalker you never know who one might know and word could get to them where you are. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying he knows Ivan but someone could have a connection to him and let slip where you are. Best not take that chance." Josh explained which made prefect sense. He pointed out some things along the way and within a few minutes we were at the square.
"All right sir I'm going to head to a place where I can observe you until Sam gets here. You'll be able to see me the whole time and I you. I'll be over there." He said pointing to a bench by a large fountain.
"Ok sir Josh." I said to which he got a good laugh. "I appreciate being you in a bit " he replied as he walked over to the bench and stood there myself with my phone out to make sure I didn't miss a message from Mr. Uley
I was not waiting long before he showed up and in his deep voice said "Hello again Jake. Good to see you again." He said as he reached out his hand and I shook it. Even as a werewolf I could feel his strong grip. Sam was wearing a leather jacket with a silver stripe and jeans similar to the last time I saw him.
"Same here mister. What would you like to do?" I asked. I thought I sounded weird but this was the first time meeting anyone on my own without Quil or anyone else I knew with me. I knew it would take time to get over my anxieties but I was already on the right path I thought
"I was thinking since your new to the city I could show you Central Park." Sam said. He knew the city better than so I wasn't going to question him and i replied with "Sure that sounds great. Lead the way."
We crossed the street into the park and I was taken aback by this enormous greenspace in the middle of this concrete jungle. How was this preserved I thought and not built over? Then I thought what a great way to make conversation.
"How did this park get here? Is it natural?" I asked to which Sam replied "No its almost all man made but it looks like its always been here doesn't it?" He asked. Gosh his voice was so sexy. I could listen to him speak all day. I wonder if he's considered voiceover work.
"What do you do for work? You have a great narration voice." I told him trying to flirt as I began to think what his answer would be. I was expecting radio or something.
"I'm a firefighter." He said. This got me a little excited down there and what a perfect profession for a werewolf. Not only is he a hot fireman but he's also literally hot given our body temperature and with our abilities it would certainly be an asset to the job.
"That's awesome. I bet our abilities come in handy doing such a job." I told Sam as he gave me a puzzled look but then gave a wink. It couldn't have be hard for him to have figured out I was a werewolf too and like me knew it probably wasn't a good idea to say that out loud.
"Yeah it does and you're not the first person to say I should do voiceover work." Sam replied. "I love my job though and can't imagine doing anything else. I knew I wanted to help people."
"That is wonderful and I applaud you for that. How long have you been with the fire department?" I asked merely trying to make conversation.
"A number of years now." Sam said as we continued down the path past some statues and another question popped into my mind. It was little awkward but I couldn't think of anything else to say.
"Our kind doesn't age though. Has anyone noticed you not aging?" I instantly regretted what I said as Sam didnt answer immediately so I immediately followed up with "Where are we heading by the way?"
Sam then responded with " If they have they haven't said anything and besides this is New York no one notices anything. A four foot tall green alien could walk up to someone in the middle of the street and say take me to your leader and they'd think nothing of it." Sam said as he got a slight chuckle as did I. Was that really true I thought but did know the city far better than I did.
"Im taking you too one of my favorite spots in the park a rock formation by 72nd street. You get an amazing view of the city from there." Sam explained.
"Sounds awesome. I replied as I continue to revel in the sexiness of his voice. I had an urge to want to just get in bed and cuddle with him but I had to behave. This was only our first date. I didnt want to mess anything up.
After a short while of walking and we even held hands at one point we reached a small pavilion and a path through the trees. I was amazed to see there were turtles at the edge of the lake. This city was more amazing than I ever imagined.
"Where are we heading?" I asked Sam wondering where this path could lead. It didnt seem to go anywhere from where we standing.
"You'll see. Its a surprise." Sam replied as he lead me along the path to a beautiful rock formation.
"Wow." Was all I could think off as I looked upon it and the view of the skyline was beyond spectacular. It almost didn't look real. Sam helped me up to the top and I took in the view for all its glory.
"Everything the light touches is your Kingdom." Sam said as he gestured around with his hand.
"What a fantastic domain it is, I never imagined myself a city person but I have to admit it's grown on me. I already love it and can't see myself moving anywhere else." I told Sam feeling a large sense of contentment and joy. I didn't think I'd come to enjoy the big city so quickly.
"Well this is the greatest city in the world and I have the greatest job in the world. A perfect combo if you ask me. I can't imagine living anywhere else either." Sam explained with a sense of true contentment. It was wonderful to have met a werwolf using his powers to help people on a daily basis.
The moment was so wonderful I wish it would have never ended. I know it sounds odd because I had only been here for about two days but I felt in that moment that this my city and even though we only just met I'd be sharing it with someone very special.
