Watching Revenar leave Lucivar breathed out a sign of relief. He would need to work with his nephew to really test his skill. As much as he looked forward to those sparing matches there was some much warranted dread.

Stepping into the Keep with the children behind him Daemon waited for any sound. Lucivar's family was here. Lilly was here as was the entire first circle yet…
Ravenar kept his voice low. "What's wrong?"
Wrong? "For everyone in the family being here, with all of the children here…" he paused, "Does it seem quiet to you?"
Jillian smiled, "Marian says the children … all of them … are playing in the nursery wing. The adults that are not hourglass are in the family parlor." She paused, "I'll go help Marian with the little ones."
Jillian had just disappeared down the when Revenar doubled over. Two breaths and Daemon roared *Gabrielle!* it didn't matter which healer he had called for his son would be tucked into a bed soon.
XXX
Several hours later Daemon was beyond edgy but was sitting in the parlor where he was told be. Told not asked. Not a request. Told.
When Jaenelle he queen was pissed she forgot that she didn't have a court. When Jaenelle the healer was pissed… being a warlord prince and yielding was a very good idea.
Lucivar slipped in a moment later. "Is father joining us?"
"You're sister wants to skin you."
Pausing Lucivar took a deep breath, "Why?"
Her son was in a fight while still wrapped in healing webs and spider-silk."
Two breaths and , "She'll remember that the boy is eyrien telling him to leave the fight before it began would have caused more problems then tight muscles."
The parlor door shut with a quiet click. Turning Lucivar smiled, "Revenar tucked in?"
Crossing her arms Jaenelle took a deep breath, "You are both idiots. Mostly forgiven since telling a trained warrior he wouldn't be helpful would have caused him to for your throat. But yeah Revenar is tucked in."
"Sweetheart why don't you sit down and tell us why you're really mad?"
Taking a seat on the long couch next to Daemon she closed her eyes. "Payton is finally home. Revenar is missing. Papa is torn between happy to have his son home and the strong desire to destroy the entire realm looking for his nephew. Reven … he asked for the family to start calling him that… is sore but didn't damage anything and every excited to train with other eyriens."
"Who said anything about training with other eyriens… right now."
She looked blandly at Lucivar, "He saw them fight and decided he wanted to learn their way of fighting."
"Their way? Damn it Jaenelle what way did he think he was learning…"
"Whatever kept him alive. But he wants formal training."
"Prick?"
Lucivar squeezed the bridge of his nose. "He tore apart 5 of the winged bastards apart, and he wants formal training." A tickle scrapped his throat. "Yeah, I think that can be arranged."
XXX
Formal training that is what Jaenelle had said. Damn her. The boy didn't need formal training he needed a leash. He had been fine before Jillian had entered the communal eyrie then it had gone wrong.
Jillian was use to warming up with Tamnar. Had been doing for a few years now. The boy knew the last stretch then would move into a easy 10 minute sparing match. Itt should have been just another easy drill.
He should have explained it to Revenar. That was clear the moment His attention had sharpened from polite interest to waiting for a word to attack. Knowing one here was strong enough to handle sparing with the boy he had to.
"Come here boyo, let's see what exactly I need to work on ." and if public training would be done in the foreseeable future.
Revenar had taken one last look at Jillian then had given him a bone chilling smile just before the first clash of sticks.
He had been focused on the boy he hadn't watched Jillian and Tamnar. Hadn't been worried about either. A startled squeak from Jillian. A move that had left him kissing dirt and Tamnar pinned to the wall by a two prong staff.
The speed and instinct needed to pull that off… it was something to discuss with Daemon and soon.
Xxx
"Revenar Enough." He growled as he got to his feet. The anger in the boys eyes.
Then Jillian tugging on Revenar's arm, "It was an accident. I lost my balance."
Lucivar watched as Revenar escorted Jillian out of the eyrie before calling in his practice stick to lean against it. Didn't say anything when Hallevar came up behind him. "You have something to say?"
This was the second time the old arms master had seen the boy fight but the first time he had seen the anger. "The boy has skills. More then you did at his age. In fact I think he can quit sneaky when he wants to."
"He spent the last two hundred years living under a damn good illusion web. One that made him look like an adult."
"So… he.."
"Grew up fast and everything he knows he taught himself. Some by mimicking and some by learning what worked for him."
Hallevar turned, "Shit." A moment later, "He went after Tamnar."
"No he warned the boy. Jillian is holding Revenar's leash so for the moment so he won't hurt the boy. You might want to warn him what he thinks as appropriate behavior… hell what I think is appropriate behavior might not set well with Revenar."
Narrowed eyes then, "You need a healer?"
Since it was said just above a whisper he knew he hadn't fooled anyone that his side was bothering him. He had it shielded then an black shield over his entire body thanks to his brother . "I'm fine. The boy was trying to pound me into a mushy pulp be he wasn't going after an injury he knew about. I think he's finally starting to warm up to me." Or a more scarier thought the boy was trying to get him to belief that he could be trusted before he struck.
"What injury?"
Surreal gliding up to him kept him from answering anything else. "Surreal?"
"Daemon wants to know if you need a healer."
If his brother really wanted to know he would be standing here. Hell he would have called out to him. "No I don't need a healer."
"Good. Then I suggest if you don't want one you get your nephew into a warm bath before his back seizes up. Again."
Meaning it already was. "Damn it Surreal…"
She put her hand on his chest before he could move, "Chaosti found something. After the boy is tucked in you and Daemon as well as uncle Saetan need to see."
Tucked in. Sedated. That was what she was saying. "While I'm dealing with that would you mind watching the children?"
"I'll keep Marian company."

Revenar looked around the room. Looked at the pool of water. "Why am I here?"
Lucivar took a deep breath. This was going to be a joy getting this boy in this pool. Calmly he leaned against the door, "Because your father wants your muscles blissfully numb. And soaking in this pool if the first part of doing that."
His eyes closed as he fought the internal struggle with himself. "Jillian will coat my wings with the balm?"
"If you want her to. But I would like a good look at your back. Jaenelle wants someone to make sure everything is healing properly."
A slow deep breath, "Can you do that in the water?"
Taking his nephew's arm he led him to the steps, "Come on boyo the sooner you get into the water the sooner you'll be tucked in."
"I'm fine." It was a weak protest since his back was starting to seize up again.
XXX
The water was warm and didn't hurt like he thought it would. "This would almost be enjoyable if it wasn't in a cave."
"It's part the eyrie not a cave."
Revenar kept his eyes closed as Lucivar took a soft cloth to his back. "The only difference between a cave and an eyrie are the windows on the outer walls."
Lucivar paused, "Never thought about it like that." Another pause, "I'm going to remove the mesh. Your aunt wants to clean it." With Revenar's nod he vanished it then called it back in outside the door where Marian was waiting. "I never really thought about an Eyerie as a cave before. This one belonged to Uncle Andulvar so I always knew this place was safe."
Looking around the room again it took on a whole new meaning. "Andulvar Yaslana built this."
While uncoiling Revenar's wing Lucivar answered, "He did. Now can you hold your wing out or should I help you?"
"I can. Hurts a little but it's not bad."
Which meant it hurt more than a little when he had wrapped his wings around Jillian the first time. And worse when he wrapped his wings around himself to feel the mesh. Something else he would need to talk to his brother about… or one of the healers.
"Do you know if my namesake ever lived here?"
"I would imagine but I can ask the High Lord. In fact he might now where his eyrie would have been. Can't say for sure if it's still standing but I can find out."
"I would like that. Revenar Yaslana was very vague about his upbringing."
That made him stop cold. "I beg your pardon?"
"In his journals. Didn't Jaenelle tell you about them?"
"She mentioned one but not more than that." So what had Jaenelle really been pondering? And what did Daemon really know? And why hadn't either said anything to him. *Bastard?*
Amusement flowed back on the thread *Prick?*
*We need to discus the journal* Acknowledgment and the link closed.
"Oh. I guess it would ok if you read them."
Since his nephew was not only relaxing but talking he decided to probe where he could. "Your father left you're the journals?"
"No. Revenar left them with my mother right before I was born. He was gone before she had me."
Pieces slipped into place. His cousin had been alive at least five hundred years ago. So why hadn't he come home? "Gone as in…"
"Gone. Left. He stayed with mama for a little while. Long enough to leave his journals and put some things into words. He stayed a little longer I think so he could rest. Since the cottage was on the property that belonged to the Keep he could feel safe at least for a little while."
When the High Lord found out about this he was going to explode. Too bad not telling him wasn't an option. "Is that why you like to be called Raven?"
"Hmm. I always thought it would easier when I met him if we both didn't answer to the same name."
When not if. "You know where he might be?"
Slowly Revenar folded his wing and turned to face the man who sounded like he was losing the solid ground beneath his feet. "An Island somewhere in Terreille. Not many people. He comes to the main land every so often. It's in the book Jaenelle read."
He was going to kill her. First he had to deal with whatever Chaosti found… then he was going to kill her. "You need to soak for another fifteen minutes. Then I want your ass in bed." He paused, "And before you argue about not needing a nap I will remind you that Jillian will be coating your back with the healing salve."
"Lucivar?"
"What?"
"If you see him, you may want to have blood wine with you."
Another warning. "You know…"
"Grandpa is a guardian so it stands to reason that my namesake might also be."
