Chapter 23: Super Moves!

Deku's P.O.V

We were in class listening to another one of Mr. Aizawa's lectures.

"As I mentioned earlier, the goal is to earn your provisional hero licenses," Aizawa said, "This gives you the right to hero work legally and work with pro heroes, and also is a big responsibility. To prepare you for that, we have something special."

Midnight and another pro hero approached us.

"You're gonna be creating your own special moves!" Midnight said.

"SUPER MOVES YEAAAAH!" Kaminari shouted.

Jirou giggled to herself.

"These are techniques that are sure to help you achieve your victory," said Ectoplasm, one of the pro heroes.

"They are deeply ingrained and define the heroes," Midnight said, "Nowadays, those without special moves are endangered."

"Change into your costumes and meet at the gym," Aizawa said.

It looks like the gym also got a bit of a makeover.

The pro hero with the quirk of stone manipulation made obstacles for us.

"This was my idea," he said, "Now I can prepare terrains and other things to keep you on your toes."

"Question sir!" Iida said, "Are these special moves essential to helping us obtain our licenses?"

"Chill out Mr. Secretary," Aizawa said, "The exam tends to change from different attitudes such as rescue, fight training, leadership, etc etc."

"However," Ectoplasm said approaching us, "Not all special moves are for offensive measures either."

He brought Iida up.

"His quirk enables him to move at fast speeds, allowing for more of a defensive measure."

"This is gonna be fun," Bakugo said.

We started our training.

Ochako was able to lift objects and keep them in place.

From then she could use them to attack her opponent and keep them at a distance.

I was amazed at how far everyone was progressing.

"You seem to be troubled young man," Ectoplasm said startling me.

"Well, its because I don't really have a clear vision of how I should make it," I explained.

"Well, maybe it's best to focus on developing your quirk and making it stronger."

I did as he told me.

While we were working All Might approached and came to see us.

He noticed I was still doing moves similar to his.

"I think this requires a hands-on approach," he said.

He approached me personally.

"Yes All Might?" I asked.

"It seems like you're still trying to imitate my style boy," All Might said, "Maybe try to develop your own."

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"It's best for you to figure that out," he said, "You won't learn if I just give you the answer."

Ochako and I were walking to the development lab for costume upgrades.

"I'm just used to always using my arms," I said, "I don't understand what he meant by saying I was still trying to imitate him."

"Well I know what you mean," Ochako said, "EArlier I was told I was trying to imitate 13, but I was convinced to make my styles my own thing as well."

"That's nice," Iida said, "I also noticed you could make yourself float as well."

Hatsume opened the door and was covered in grease.

"Hi Tenya-baby," she said kissing his cheek.

Ochako and I were shocked.

"Tenya…."

"Baby?"

Iida chuckled.

"Something may have happened….. over break," he said.

We explained why we came to the lab.

"So you're trying to make costumes upgrades for your special moves," Maijima stated.

"That's right," I said, "I assume Aizawa already told you."

"Yes sir," Hatsume said.

They both looked at my costume.

"I think I have just the thing for you," Hatsume said, "Seeing as your fighting style is your fists and at certain times, your fingers.

She also made something for Iida.

"You do realize that my quirk comes from my legs right?" Iida said.

"I know but the way I see it if you wanna give your legs a break, then why not use your arms," Hatsume said.

Hearing them talk suddenly gave me an idea.

"Wait a minute….." I said.

I thought back to the times where I was using mostly my arms, and realized I had another weapon; My legs.

"Iida!" I said, "Can you teach me something?"

"Sure, what is it?"

A few days later we went back to super move training.

Mineta noticed my costume change.

"Changed your costume again?" He asked.

"Yeah, I wanted to make something that could help with my special move," I explained, "I even got some advice from Iida."

"Why?" Todoroki asked, "You're the class president, meaning you're beyond him."

"Well he's still smart when it comes to techniques and all that jazz," I stated.

Iida gave me a thumbs up.

Bakugo was working on his move and accidentally made some rubble fall.

All Might was right below it.

"Oh shit!" Bakugo said.

I used this as an opportunity.

I jumped into action.

"Here goes nothing," I said.

Using my legs I kicked the rubble into small pieces giving All Might time to evade.

I was showing off new kick attacks and my legs were glowing with aura.

I was also able to blow gusts of strong wind without damaging my legs.

"Aura Arts, Shoot Style!" I said.

Ochako was amazed.

"Dude!" Kirishima said, "That was more manly than what I got."

"I thought you were the punching type," Kaminari said.

"Well its thanks to the soles that Hatsume came up with," I said, "Figured it'd be best to change my style."

"Well I think it will be a useful skill in the license exam," Aizawa said.

Shouto noticed Momo struggling a bit.

She was creating new weapons for offensive and defensive measures.

She failed to notice she was at a cliff and then she slipped.

"Yaomomo!" Mina cried out.

Todoroki swooped in and caught her just before she fell.

"Are you alright Momo?" He asked.

Momo was blushing while still looking at him.

"I'm ok," she said.

Todoroki's P.O.V

The rest of the guys were talking about how their special moves were coming together.

Midoriya of all people has gotten the most praise for his change of fighting style.

I was still thinking about what happened today.

"Todoroki!" Bakugo said startling me.

I turned to face them.

"Do you have anything new?" Midoriya asked me.

"Sorry, I guess I was just lost in thoughts," I said, "I've been thinking about something recently."

Midoriya grinned believing he knew what I was talking about.

"Is it love?" Mina asked.

I blushed dark red.

Eri approached me.

"Its Auntie dolly isn't it Mr. Frosty?" She asked.

I looked at her and was surprised.

A 6-year old kid guessing.

"Is it that obvious?"

"Um…. yea," Uraraka said, "You two may not have had as much interaction together but I can tell you have a thing or two for her."

I sighed knowing they were right.

"I don't know," I said, "She probably doesn't feel the same way about me."

Eri yawned and rubbed her eyes.

"Papa, I'm tired," she said.

"Well, you don't know until you ask," Midoriya said as he picked Eri up, "Come on sweetie, let's put you to bed."

Later that night I was thinking about what the others told me.

I was walking around campus when I heard noises.

They sounded like Momo struggling.

I rushed over to the area where she was and saw she was just training.

Momo noticed me and blushed.

"Todoroki?" She asked.

"I thought you were in trouble," I said, "But I guess I was wrong."

Momo chuckled.

"Well, I'm just trying to work on making my quirk stronger," she said, "It does take some serious focus to make exactly what I'm looking for."

I approached her.

"Something's bothering you," I said, "I can sense it."

She looked away.

"I don't want to trouble you with the drama I have going on," Momo said.

"Why not?" I asked, "Friend talk about their troubles all the time, but a true friend would take the time to listen."

She looked at me.

"So please, don't ask me not to listen."

She smiled and nodded.

We spent the next few minutes sitting and she was talking to me about what happened.

"I see," I said.

"My mother was all about me wanting to be a pro hero, but my father…. He'd rather I use my quirk to help with the family business, and sees pro hero duties as a waste of time," Momo said, "He's always had these expectations for me, believing I had to be what the world wanted me to be."

I couldn't help but feel sorry for her, as I went through something similar with my father.

"My parents divorced and I went to live with my mother, who was nothing but supportive," Momo admitted, "But every now and then I have the flashbacks of my father."

She remembered a time when she was a little girl. Her father tried to make her move away to another school.

She talked back and defied him, and he retaliated by slapping her in the face.

Her mother was furious and packed her stuff taking Momo with her.

"And I hadn't seen him since then."

"I gave up a long time ago trying to please my father," I admitted, "He was dead set on making me the next number one hero, but that honor goes to Midoriya. After all, he's the one who defeated All For One."

"Sometimes I like to think back and remember the people who inspire me to keep trying," Momo said.

"Midoriya?" I asked.

"No, well yes but someone else other than him," Momo said, "You."

I blushed.

"Momo, instead of worrying about the things you need, maybe you should…. Worry about the things you want." I said, "Tell me. What is it that YOU want?"

She sighed.

"I just want to be accepted for who I am, and not be tied down by expectations," Momo said, "I also want my father to understand me."

"Well if your father doesn't understand you so what?" I said, "You have dozens of people who are accepting of you and care about you. Don't let your father try to bring you down."

Momo smiled.

"Listen to what your heart says, and be the person you wanna be."

"Thank you…. Shouto," she said, "I feel a little tired from training but, I think I have enough energy for this."

She cupped my face and kissed me.

The kiss lasted a few seconds and she pulled away.

"I should go," she said heading back in.

I was shocked by what just happened.

"Could I... be falling for Momo?"
