AN: Hello readers!

I have returned a little later than I expected. I've been going back through to fix some grammar and structure issues with the earlier chapters of this story.

I think I've gotten to a point where I like the style I've been currently working at for the last couple of chapters, so I've just been going back to fixing errors here and there for my first story done on this site (notably the horrendous amount of ellipses and commas I had)...

Well other than that, I hope you enjoy this chapter!

Please leave a review on anything you liked, think I should work on, or just any questions in general! I enjoy reading them and I will answer them at the end of the next chapter:D

Chapter 18: Our First Mission?

Hage Village

Normal POV

It was morning when Sister Lily was hanging the clothes to dry before seeing a carrier bird appear out of a spatial gate and drop one lone letter in her hand.

She looked down at it in surprise before smiling slightly at the name written upon it, immediately gathering all of the children and Father Orfai to also hear about what was in the last letter they had all been waiting for to see.

It didn't take long to gather everyone into the church as Sister Lily herself tore open the seam and unfolded the paper inside, seeing the neat and nice handwriting of the lightning mage they all knew and love.

"Is that from Skylar, Sister Lily?" Recca asked in anticipation, feeling happiness rise in her chest from seeing her nod her head.

"She's a little late don't you think? I'm surprised she sent one even later than Asta did." Nash stated as he crossed his arms, trying his best to look disinterested even though he was about as happy and excited as Recca was.

Even if she was a little sarcastic and hot-headed at times, Nash had always looked up to Skylar in some form or fashion just as much as he had with Yuno and secretly with Asta to some extent. He had practically known her his entire life, so it didn't take long for him to find some connection to her to see her as a sometimes stern but kind older sister.

"Even though her mother had a knack in writing, she never really developed a good hand in it, so I'm more surprised that it got here in the timely fashion as it did." Father Orfai remarked jokingly, causing all of the kids around him to laugh as Sister Lily skimmed the letter.

"What does it say!? What does it say!?" Aruru and Hollo asked excitedly, hearing Sister Lily chuckle under her breath.

"It reads…

Hey guys, Skylar here and sorry for how long it took me to send this. Don't worry, I haven't gone and got myself kicked out of the kingdom for my "temper" as Father Orfai put it a couple days ago.

Well, sort of. But never mind that as it's nothing to worry about either.

I've already heard from Asta that he sent his, meaning you all know that we are on a team together, the Black Bulls.

I know. Shocking isn't it? I find myself being surprised every hour that my nerves haven't been destroyed by him since I've been here. I haven't even shocked him one time at this place, but since it's been only a day, it should be taken in stride as you all know that will change eventually.

The people on this squad are quite odd to say the least as they nearly or more accurately do compete with Asta's loudness, making me wish at times I was kicked out of the exams for me to avoid ever finding such a thing. But after being here the short amount of time that I have, it isn't really all that bad.

Sure, I clash with some of them. The captain here is much up to the standard that my mother set for him but even more so from being in talking distance of him. He honestly scares me enough to not chastise him for his words, while also makes me admire and respect him to some degree. I also had a hard time trusting them, since I'm not one to easily do that which you all probably know so I don't have to go much into that.

Just know that I'm fine and actually kind of like it here. My head still aches at times from being around this much mana at any given time, but I've been getting more and more used to them so that will go away soon.

I know I had my doubts on becoming a Magic knight before. I didn't want to out myself for the whole kingdom to know that I'm a royal from House Misuteru and Zeel and have been living within the Forsaken Realm all this time.

But I don't regret it and will probably never regret my decision as it feels almost like the village feels to some extent.

Well, that's all the sappiness you're getting from me in this letter. But there will probably be more in the future.

I love and will be thinking about all of you during my time here as you've gotten me to the point I am now in my life. I will always appreciate that fact and never hesitate in saying that you're my family.

Love you all and until next time,

-Skylar"

After reading that aloud, she heard sniffles coming from somewhere in front of her, seeing both Father Orfai openly crying tears of happiness as Nash tried to hide his own from being moved by the letter, hearing Recca laugh at the sight itself by wiping her own tear coming from the corner of her eye.

"I shouldn't have doubted her!" Father Orfai comedically wept aloud, blowing his nose in a tissue that Recca had handed to him. "I've never heard such touching words come from a sarcastic girl like her."

Sister Lily laughed at the sight as she looked back down at the letter, knowing that the girl probably put all of her time and energy in it to let them know she was okay and content with where she was.

Even though I was concerned for a minute there when I didn't see your letter with the boys, she thought as she hummed in happiness.

It's good to know you've found others where you can be comfortable with just being yourself.

Black Bulls Hideout

Ughhhhh, what the hell did that woman give me? I feel like I'm going to throw up my breakfast when I haven't even eaten it yet… Skylar thought as she laid her face on the table with the other Black Bull's members eating around her in the dining hall as she cradled her stomach.

She had one of the latest starts to her morning than she had ever had in a while with her only reason being able to wake up was due to hearing Noelle knock on her door for breakfast downstairs.

She was currently sitting between her and Asta as the other Black Bulls sat around them, eating away at their meal as she just wanted to puke at the sight of it.

My stomach…body….even the entirety of my mana hated that Elixir, Tonic, or whatever she called it…I'm even more exhausted than I was without even getting any sleep! And feel about as sick as getting food poisoning…when I have never even gotten food poisoning before!

The people around her didn't seem to take notice or care with Asta being his usual self as his voice seemed to be ramped up too much for her to take when he was just talking to people right next to him.

"Hey, Noelle! I've got a question for you!" He said over her, not paying any attention to notice that she wasn't in the mood for it right now. "Why is it that you never help out with the cleaning?"

"The cleaning?" She heard Noelle reply, for some reason feeling her irritation rise even more when they still hadn't caught the hint. "I'm royalty you know..."

"And a new recruit!"

Stop…

"I've never done any of that in my life. Why would I start doing it now?"

Stop it…

"Are you bragging about being lazy!? And I thought Skylar was lazy at times but at least she picked up the slack when she had to!" He exclaimed as veins notably began popping on Skylar's head. "Come on! We're on the same squad here! Ever heard of 'team effort'?"

Before Noelle could even retort back, each of them (Asta especially) felt a chill go down their backs as violet lightning sparked momentarily around Skylar.

"And have you ever heard the word SHUT UP!? Jeez, Asta and you too Noelle, you're both tearing up my nerves into pieces over here!" Skylar remarked as she raised her head to glare at Asta, before her face turned green as she lowered her head back onto the table. "Damn it, I feel so sick to stomach."

As Asta went on to ask Magna a question, Noelle looked down at Skylar with one of her eyebrows raised. She had been acting like this basically all morning, completely on a short fuse more so than usual while it almost looked like she had a brush with death as it seemed like something wasn't agreeing with her at all.

"What's wrong with you? Got sick, have you?" She asked, hearing Skylar wince a couple of times under her breath as she pointed in the direction of the woman guzzling down wine.

"Ask that woman over there what she gave me to go to sleep last night. I don't think I've ever tasted something so vile in my life or take me out so quickly that I don't even remember falling asleep until I woke up even more exhausted than I was before. And my body f-feels like it wants to reject it but can't at the same time." Skylar groaned as her arm fell limp on the table, residing back to her suffering as her insides felt like they were eating itself.

"Ummm, Vanessa?" Noelle asked, somewhat interested on what was given to her. "What did you happen to give Skylar to cause her to be in such the dreadful state she's currently in? She can't even control that short temper of hers…"

"Shut…u-up…nnnghhh…." Skylar barely got out before she was unable to hold back a moan as her stomach lurched out of nowhere.

"Hmmmm, well it was just a small Elixir that someone made that's potent enough to knock even the toughest one out." Vanessa remarked as Noelle blinked at what was used as its name.

She seemed to stop listening the moment she had said "Elixir" as that immediately sent alarm bells in her head from apparently knowing a guy who professionally dabbled in this sort of thing on another Magic Knight squad.

"This Elixir wouldn't happen to have the name of a 'Tonic' now would it?" Noelle asked hesitantly, feeling her own irritation rise slightly when she nodded her head.

"Yeahhhh, the mage happens to be on Yami's younger sister's squad, the Celestial Rays. He's their main healer there." Vanessa said amusedly, not seeing Noelle's eyebrow twitch slightly after her concerns were confirmed.

"The mage doesn't happen to be named Cassius Itori?" Noelle pressed further, seeing Vanessa's head nod again as she let out a sigh. "You would give her something from him of all people."

"Ohhhh, are you acquainted with him as well?" Vanessa asked as Noelle deadpanned.

"Sadly and not by choice. I'm quite familiar with how those concoctions of his can react with certain people's mana. With some said people getting side effects from having it in multiple ranges of severity, even leaving some on the brink of death from such a bad reaction to it." Noelle stated as she crossed her arms.

Skylar heard most of this and got the overall gist of it, sending a look over at Vanessa who just sent her a wavering smile from seeing her annoyed expression.

"And you didn't warn me of all people that this could happen, Vanessa? You probably know better than anyone how someone with my condition is sensitive to mana…with whatever you tainted my body with putting my stomach through a relentless hell."

"Now I think you're being a little overdramatic kiddo." Vanessa said with a smile, ignoring the grumbles from the violet-haired girl a little ways from her. "I thought you would be able to handle your drink and didn't think to tell you of the overall side effect since the one you're having right now seems to happen to most people when they have it. You just kind of get used to it after a while when it goes away…"

"You make it sound like I'm going through a hangover when you're the resident alcoholic in this squad and the person who just decided it was best to leave the tiny details of this apparent side effect out and that I could have just flat out died from having it in the first place." Skylar remarked only to be taken aback as Vanessa began laughing under her breath.

"That's about as accurate it gets!" Vanessa said proudly as she poured herself another glass of wine.

Noelle sweatdropped as she witnessed this interaction between these two, with Skylar wanting to probably scold the woman into oblivion but too sick to while Vanessa herself seemed too drunk to care.

She sighed at that fact, resigning to tune back into the conversation with Magna as he explained what a Magic Knight Squad does for the kingdom…

A little while later…

After the Black Bulls dispersed to go on and do whatever they wanted to as Yami and Magna went out to do something both mysterious and suspicious, Skylar and Noelle followed Asta down into the beast room where he was nearly eaten on sight…

Skylar's stomach had calmed down enough for her to be able to function, mostly just uncomfortable from how much it was still twisting and turning. She wasn't as irritable as before, though, with Noelle assuring her to some extent that the side effects would lessen overtime, prompting her to casually talk to her as Asta was fighting for his life from being devoured.

"Well that's good to know that I won't feel this sick all day." Skylar said with a groan as Noelle sent her a sideways glance.

"You seem to be relatively better in comparison to this morning. I'm guessing your stomach has settled enough for you to finally notice." Noelle remarked, ignoring the shouts of the boy as he forced the jaws of the best wide open.

"Yeah, I think I won't lose any of what little I ate this morning as long as I don't see anything revolting." Skylar replied.

Asta looked back at the two girls behind him annoyed, grunting in both frustration and strain as he tried to prevent himself to be some animal's next meal.

"HEY! Don't just be standing there having a conversation with one another! I could really use your help!" Asta exasperated.

"Do you I look like I feed animals?" Noelle remarked as she crossed her arms and turned away from him. "You're lucky that Skylar convinced me to come down here with her. Probably to supervise her from getting annoyed with your antics. So you should be thanking me as I'm most likely the one who's sustaining your life from her wrath."

"Not gonna happen!" Asta yelled as he looked over at his long-time best friend. "Skylar tell her that's not true!"

"Even though me and her clash at times, I find you to be a little more annoying than her on occasion. Don't think I wasn't listening or forgot how you called me lazy before. I probably did more chores than you and Yuno did in an hour let alone the entire day." Skylar deadpanned, seeing Asta sweatdrop. "So for once she actually isn't wrong. While like most of the time, you were completely wrong. And I'm also not stupid enough to use my magic on monstrous pets belonging to a man who woud kill me quicker than I could even get away from him, so your own because of that as well."

Why are girls so high maintenance and get annoyed so easily!? Asta thought as he was finally able to get out of the beast's grasps.

"Mannn, I thought I was dead for sure!" Asta said in disbelief.

"I hope you learned your lesson and next time use that head of yours before you insert your whole hand into a cage with beasts about 20X's taller than you." Skylar said under her breath as she leaned her back on the wall behind her.

"Hmmm, you truly are pretty strong." Noelle said aloud, seeing Asta get right in front of her with enthusiasm radiating in his eyes.

"That's because I train extra hard every day!" He shouted.

Before Skylar or even Noelle was able to say anything, they all heard laughs echo off of the cave walls, turning and seeing Magna and Yami walking towards them.

Each of the rookies looked up towards their faces at first glance as usual.

But…

Noticed that when they happened to look lower than they should have…it wasn't the best sight to see for any of them.

Asta was taken aback in shock enough him into silence, something quite rare for the boy to even do in short spans at a time like this.

Noelle gasped as a blush immediately fell on her face, turning away from the sight as she found the cave wall in front of her a more interesting sight to see.

And well Skylar…

She was blown away more than the rest of them. Her face heated up as red hot as it possibly could, seeing the revolting sight that sent her stomach in even more disarray but also nearly caused her to stop functioning entirely as she felt hot enough that her nose was going to gush out blood any second and couldn't keep her eyes from looking at what any 15 year old girl shouldn't have seen so early in their lives.

Why the heck aren't they wearing anything!? Each of them thought in shock as the two naked males in front of them had no shame in it whatsoever.

Skylar was too far gone to even notice or hear what they were talking about as her red face gradually became green in color, feeling like whatever was in her stomach was about to make an appearance. She was hopeless to do anything to prevent it or streak herself somewhere to do it out of view, unable to even get herself together enough to really breath all that much.

She was sweating bullets as she tried to hold herself back and no one seemed to notice what was potentially or more specifically going to happen.

"Hey there Rasta, No-No, and Miss Non-Rule Follower!" Magna shouted passionately as Yami and him stopped right in front of the surprised teens, with Magna himself stopping right in front of Skylar. "We're back!"

"I got some news I think you're gonna like!" He continued. "It's time for your first mis-"

Before he could fully get it out, Skylar kindly relieved all of the contents of her stomach on Magna's feet as Yami remained unscathed with everyone else shrieking at the sight.

"AHHHHH! What the absolute Hell Skylar!? That's so gross and wrong to do on your superior!" Magna exasperated as Noelle sweatdropped from remembering the girl's words from before.

Y-Yeah, that definitely falls in the revolting category….

"Well damn kid…I didn't think you weren't going to like it that much. I thought it would excite you to some extent in comparison to the other assignment you're going to have with it." Yami said aloud, with Skylar too nauseous to really understand what was going on around her.

"S-Sorry Magna, but maybe next time don't go showing off what you should keep hidden in those pants of yours that you're supposed to have on, especially when I'm sick as I don't know how my body will react to seeing a sight like that at random." Skylar said meekly as she deflated.

At least my stomach doesn't hurt anymore….

After they got cleaned up and dressed back into their regular clothes, Asta, Noelle, and Skylar stood across from Magna and Yami on the couch as they explained what Magna was going to say to them earlier.

"Our first mission?" All of the said together as Magna smirked at them from across the room.

"Yeah, we've decided to put you out in the field." Magna replied, sending their anxiousness into new heights.

Each of them tried their best to not show how nervous they were, waiting as calm as they could be to hear what their mission would entail.

"So, what are w-we doing?" Asta asked in anticipation.

"I bet it's fit for royalty such as myself." Noelle remarked as she moved her hair off of her shoulder.

Skylar remained silent as she crossed her arms, tapping her finger on her arm faster and faster as time went along.

"Yeahhhhh, it's a real honor!" Magna said, hiding the sarcasm in his voice that caused Skylar to sweatdrop when hearing it. "Go to Saussy Village to go and do some boar hunting."

Silence fell in the room as the teens stood there in shock as they each stood there having their own imagination on what they were going to do.

"Boar hunting?" Asta said mostly to himself. "Coool!"

"Wow. That's a terrible mission." Noelle deadpanned as Skylar did it along with her.

"Yeah, it's probably the dumbest thing I've ever heard…" Skylar agreed along with her as multiple veins popped onto Magna's head as his face darkened.

"NO IT"S NOT!" Magna shouted. "THE BOTH OF YOU, TAKE THAT BACK!"

"I can take out a boar with my bare hands!" Asta said confidently.

"NO. YOU CAN'T! DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!" Magna yelled again, causing all of them to cringe at his volume. "Those things are pure evil with those beady eyes and huge tusks! And they also charge for no reason!"

"Can you please stop yelling for once in your life, fire maniac?" Skylar asked, pressing into Magna's nerves as he took an aggressive foot forward.

"CAN YOU PLEASE STOP CALLING ME THAT!?" Magna exasperated as Yami let out a sigh from next to him as smoke came from his mouth.

"We lost to the chief of Saussy Village, so now we gotta pay the price for that fact." Yami casually explained.

"Wait, you two lost in a fight!?" Asta asked in disbelief.

"How powerful was this man?" Noelle asked along with him as Skylar released a sigh.

"I can't believe you two actually believe what they're saying to that extent." Skylar said under her breath as they both sent her a glance. "I can call a bluff when I see one."

"Skylar you should-" Asta began to say before Yami spoke up again.

"We lost at poker…"

Noelle and Asta went silent in shock as Skylar felt vindicated in her belief that the men in front of them had a few screws loose.

"Did you really go off on your 'manly adventure' to bet all of your clothes away?" Skylar asked aloud, seeing the smirk return on Magna's face.

"Along with a half a year's worth of wages!" Magna said with confidence in his voice.

"Seriously?" Asta asked aloud, still in shock of what fight they had actually lost.

"I don't understand why you would even brag about that…" Noelle remarked.

"Well that's not all." Yami began as he crossed his legs. "We promised him we'd do any one thing he requested of us. And it turned out that he wanted us to rid him of some boars."

"Apparently there's a herd of them near the village. Trampling their fields and causing a whole load of trouble." Magna added as Asta raised his hand for a question.

"OH! OH! Can you explain what this has to even do with us!?"

"I would actually want to know the answer as well. We didn't go off and get our butts quite literally handed to us in some card game." Skylar remarked with a deadpan.

"Right, exactly." Noelle added, slightly annoyed. "You were the ones who lost, so why are you putting your burden onto us?"

"Idiots! Do you really expect Yami to clean up his own mess!?" Magna asked as they each nearly sweatdropped of that fact being obvious. "Yami isn't the one to deal with these things as that's what he's got us for!"

At that moment, they saw Yami stand to his feet as smoke rose from his mouth. A chill even greater than the one Skylar did earlier settled in the air as he looked down at the three of them.

"You either go or die. Your choice." Yami said darkly as an angered glint appeared in his eye.

"Okay! We'll go!" They responded in fear as Noelle herself shook in her boots.

This man is supposedly Demetria's older brother? She's so warm and nice while that glare of his can terrify anyone in an instant without him even trying… she thought as she saw him walk over to Skylar.

"Hey kid, I have some things I've been needing to tell you. But first, you know where Saussy village is don't you?" Yami asked as confusion came across Skylar's face.

"I've been there a couple times before since its located in the Forsaken realm like Hage is." Skylar responded as she quirked one of her eyebrows. "Is there a reason why you need to know that?"

"I actually have a personal assignment that I need you to do before you go with the others." Yami explained. "It shouldn't take ya long and you should be able to catch up with the others easily with that magic of yours, right?"

She sat there to contemplate it for a while before looking up at him with her silver eyes.

"If I widen my sense enough, I should be able to track Magna's or Noelle's magic to reach wherever they are. I've never traveled that far with my magic before, but I haven't ever really tried to, so we'll see I guess." Skylar stated as Yami turned to go towards the door.

"Alright, well follow me so you can do this real quick and then get on your way."

Even though she was hesitant at first, she followed him towards the door before stopping right at the door way.

"I hopefully won't be gone long, but don't do anything stupid until I get back." Skylar said over her shoulder, hearing a resound 'Okay' from Asta as Noelle 'Hmphed' and turned to look away from her.

As soon as she was out of sight, Asta pumped his fist in the air in excitement for their first mission.

"So what if it's boar hunting? We're finally going on our first mission!" He said excitedly as he yelled aloud.

Noelle felt a little nervous at the thought of her going due to her inability to really use her magic at a safe and stable level.

"I still don't see why he would be sending me and decide to instead take Skylar out of the equation for right now…" She stated, voicing her frustrations in which caused Magna to get irritated with her lack of resolve.

"Come on! Do you ever do anything but complain!? He asked as Noelle turned away from him.

"It actually wasn't supposed to be a complaint. I just don't understand why he would take her when she has more control over her magic than I do, since….I can't even control my magic power." She said as her face fell slightly. "Should I really be going on this mission at-"

"Hey dummy! That's the whole point! How do you expect to get any better with your magic if you don't even have the patience to try?" He asked. "The only reason why she's not here right now is because Yami has a special assignment for her to complete real quick and then join US when she's done since I will be going to keep an eye on you new recruits!"

"Wowww! You're such a manly man Magna!" Asta gushed before he realized something. "Wait special assignment? What is Captain Yami having Skylar do?"

"Aw stop that Rasta, you're causing me to blush. But in terms of that hardheaded girl, I don't really know what he's having her do. If I had to guess, it may have to do something with the Celestial Rays' Captain, since he's having Finral port her there for a little while before meeting up back with us." Magna stated.

"Ohhhh, okay!"

"Hmph, well. If you insist then I suppose I'll be willing to accompany you for the time being." Noelle said with a huff.

As they discussed over some of the aspects of the mission itself and how they were going to get there, Noelle couldn't help but get curious as to why Skylar was the one singled out among them.

Wondering what Demetria Sukehiro herself had in store for the lightning mage…

Celestial Rays Hideout

Eyasei's POV

Eyasei was sitting on her bed looking down at the robe in her arms of the Celestial Rays squad, sighing aloud as she narrowed her eyes at it slightly.

After the events that occurred last morning, the day proceeded somewhat normal as Hikairi had shown her and Rubi around the hideout. They were then brought into the room with Demetria where she just went through the typical do's and do not's of the rules with them being threatened into submission by Chikajo herself to try and be on their best behavior.

Even if she wasn't used to these surroundings yet, she didn't have a usual urge to just get up and leave like she usually did before she got here. She hadn't met all of them yet, since most of the members were out on missions or just on leave, not really allowing her to get the full picture.

But…

From the people she had met so far such as Cassius, Tetra, and Hikairi, she found herself already familiar with the scents of their magic even if she hadn't been that long.

And with Chikajo here along with Demetria, she knew that those two were trustworthy since they have been one of the first people in her life to openly welcome her in the first place. With her odd bout of amnesia, she didn't have much to go on with who she was before or who she was even related to. Even though she searched for days on end to find that answer, it never came to her, leaving her a sense of being alone in a world that she just couldn't find her place in.

However, that all changed when she met…

A girl was stumbling on her feet with multiple scratches and cuts on her body as blood fell and dripped onto the ground from her wounds. The outfit she had been wearing was torn to complete shreds, leaving her injuries out into the open for everyone to see.

She had been roaming around this place for days now, an area within the Clover Kingdom she knew to be known as the Forsaken realm. She didn't know why or how she knew that since it seemed like for whatever reason she was coming on a blank on basically everything. She only knew her name to be Eyasei Kemono, that she was currently 10 years of age, she had something called Chimera magic, and as she had said previously, some knowledge regarding the Clover Kingdom.

When she had awakened, she found herself amidst a town full of destruction and completely deserted, finding herself alone as she bore a variety of wounds on her body. She knew that her magic came with a sort of healing factor, though, for some reasons it wasn't working as she tried to endure the constant pain in her body.

She had recently been having multiple blackouts throughout the spans of days she was here, finding herself each time she awoke from them covered with more and more injuries as even more destruction was located around her.

Right now, she was regretfully trying her best to look for someone to help her as she knew her body was starting to reach its limit, trying her best to ignore the constant blurring in her vision as she felt overwhelmingly hot. Every time she had tried to get help, however, it seemed around the same time her blackouts would occur but still in most instances that whoever she would ask didn't even try and help her out.

'Damn…w-why am I so hungry? And really h-hot and…th…irsty?' she thought as her head kept dipping down, trying to keep her yellow eyes open to be able to see the path in front of her, using her nose to follow a mana trail and hoping she would find someone soon.

At some point, she tripped over a tree root, falling and crashing hard against the ground's surface. The wind had been knocked out of her during that fall, finding herself having a hard time breathing as her eyes fell into slits.

'N-No…I have to k-keep going….I d-don't want to d-die out here…' She thought as the scene in front of her began to grow dark.

'I haven't….found my…..m-my….'

She fell into unconsciousness soon after…

It felt like her mind was caught in a fog, seeing images here and there that didn't make any sense to her as she felt her consciousness just continuously slipping through her fingers as she felt multiple sensations until those fell through the void as well. Her entire body felt numb to the world as she fell in the darkness of her landscape, just patiently waiting to return to the waking world.

After what felt like an eternity, she began to regain her bearings, cracking her eyes open as she looked around the room that she was residing in. Before her vision could fully clear out, her well attuned hearing came in first as loud voices had filled the room.

"Chikajo, please reconsider this!" She heard a male's voice say angrily, hearing a crash off from the side as if he punched a wall or table. "That girl is dangerous! We are risking our lives of having her here! I can't believe that Captain Dinah actually agreed to this…"

"For the last time, Alexei, I am not going to change my mind! She's only a kid that's at least 9-11 years old. We couldn't have just left her to die out there! You and even Demetria saw how badly hurt she was. Isn't it our duty as Magic Knights to make sure that everyone in this kingdom is safe?" a woman from around the same area of the room asked.

"Even if she's that young of an age, she nearly killed us when we let out guard down as we transported her here a week ago! You were the most injured between me and that foreigner after you naïvely tried to talk her down. You even got in the way of one of my attacks to recklessly risk your life for a beast of a girl you don't even know!"

In the instant he had finished that statement, it almost like the air began to vibrate as a massive heaviness settled in, hearing the male wincing multiple times under his breath.

"I've told you so many times to stop calling Demetria and the kid that! If you don't respect my decision, then take it up with Lady Dinah, even Julius for all I care, but I already know what they'll say and if they were to somehow in your wildest dreams agree with you this time, I honestly wouldn't give a damn." The woman said with vigor in her voice. "I don't care what she did since she wasn't in full control of her actions. She was also completely out of it due to the severity of her injuries as she had multiple infections already settling in. With Lady Dinah requesting and gaining the aid of Lady Kiyomeru, I don't think she'll be as dangerous as you think her to be when she finally regains consciousness, so stop sitting here trying to convince me of something that you know I won't back down for!"

At that point, the door within the room slammed as she heard heavy footsteps get closer and closer until whoever it was sat somewhere to her left with a huff.

"Ughhhh honestly, I can't believe I ever had the nerve to date that arrogant jerk…I would have possibly entertained marrying Damnatio if I had to choose between the both of them." The woman said under her breath.

Eyasei's vision began to clear enough for her to look over at the mage next to her, seeing her reading a book in her hand. She had shoulder-length dirty blonde hair and vibrant light green eyes.

The scent of her mana filled the room, meaning she had most likely been here multiple times before. For some reason, she found herself unnaturally drawn to it, sensing the pureness of the woman sitting right next to her.

'Is she who I've been looking for?' she thought to herself. She found herself trying to reach out to her but noticed at that instant, it was not the best idea to do so as her body had finally let her know how much pain she was in. She immediately clamped her eyes down in pain, openly wincing as she heard the woman shift over next to her.

"Oh, you're awake! Kid, you shouldn't try and move all that much right now. You're still recovering." The woman said trying to keep the panic out of her voice. "The pain should pass, so just keep your breathing controlled."

Even if she couldn't respond to her, she did her best to listen as she managed to prevent her breathing from getting too bad.

After the pain was able to pass, she cracked open her yellow eyes as she met the warm green eyes of the woman above her, seeing an equally warm smile come across her face.

"Well good morning, sleepyhead." She greeted as she sat down in her chair. "You were starting to worry me that you weren't going to wake up anytime soon. You were about to go into your second week without a single peep from you."

"Wh-Where…a-am I-I?" Eyasei rasped as her throat felt like she had ate sand for the entire week.

The woman seemed to notice this, reaching over to the side table next to her to pour a glass of water for her.

"Oh somewhere safe, I can assure you so don't worry. You're currently in the medical bay of the Hideout of the Azalea Rays." She explained, going over and helping her finally quench her thirst. "I along with 2 of my other squadmates found you completely unconscious in the Forsaken Realm littered with various injuries. You've been out basically that entire time as we treated and healed you to the point you are now."

"Y-You helped me?" Eyasei asked in surprise as she saw the woman nod her head to confirm. "Most people never did when I asked….you're probably the first who did without me having to do that s-so….thanks."

"You're very much welcome. Well before we go any further, mind telling me your name? I may still call you 'kid' from time to time, but I'd still like to know the name of our lovely guest." the woman asked.

Eyasei hesitated for a few seconds before finding the confidence to tell her, knowing that the woman who had saved her was trustworthy.

"I-It's Eyasei….Eyasei Kemono."

"Well Eyasei, it's nice to make your acquittance. I can already tell I'm going to like you for some reason or another. You seem to have an interesting shine about you that I can't quite put my finger on." The woman stated as she put a hand on her chest. "Well anyway I guess it's my turn…"

"My name's Chikajo…Chikajo Ishitoya."

Present…

Normal POV

Eyasei smiled at that thought, putting the robe on top of her casual clothes until she was able to wear the new ones that had been requested for her to wear during actual missions.

Even if she's a pain at times and actively teases me to end, I can say she's always been there one way or another. And I can always say that it makes me happy when she does…but I'm sure as hell not going to show it all of the time as she'll end up ruining the moment…

As she laid her back onto her bed, she heard a couple knocks on her door, already knowing who it was from distinguishing the Silverlight mage's mana.

"It's open, Hika." She announced, hearing the door open moments after.

"Good Morning, Yasei!" Hikairi said happily as Eyasei just felt the mage rolling off with an overwhelming bunch of energy.

"Morning," Eyasei said aloud as she released a sigh. "You sound more chipper in comparison to yesterday. It also seems that mana of yours has risen a lot higher than it was as well."

"Oh wow, thanks for noticing. From not really doing anything that strenuous yesterday, I feel a lot better." Hikairi remarked as she leaned on the door. "Though, I'm still on bedrest until Captain Demetria takes me off of it."

"Figured, Sukehiro isn't one to change her mind that easily it seems, even with that nice streak of yours." Eyasei stated as she brought her gaze to look over at Hikairi. "Is there a reason why you're here?"

"Yeah I actually I am. Vice-Captain just wanted to me to tell you to stay in your room for the time being." Hikairi stated as Eyasei looked over at her in confusion.

"I'm not opposed to doing that but did she say why I need to be confined in my room?" Eyasei asked, sensing that the silver-haired girl was growing tense.

"She just said that it's in your best interest to stay in here. We happen to have a visitor coming any minute or so from what I've heard." Hikairi explained as she shrugged her shoulders. "Said person is going to meet up with the Captain for some reason or another that involves something going on between the Black Bulls and Celestial Rays. But that's all I've been told so far…"

"Alright," Eyasei said somewhat on edge from thinking that Hikairi was holding out on her for some reason. "Can I get a name?"

Before Hikairi could say anything, Eyasei's eyes widened when she caught onto a familiar scent that overwhelmed her in an instant, causing her to stiffen immediately.

That smells like…hehe, so she's here and that woman was trying to hide her from me. she thought as a smirk began to grow on her face as a wild glint fell in her eyes.

What's the fun or harm of just going to say Hi to Sparky, Ishitoya?

Hikairi noticed the shift in mood of the mage from across from her, watching on as she slowly rose up from her bed and began walking towards the door with an unfocused look in her eyes.

"Eh, Yasei, I thought I said-"

"Move out of the way Hika or I'll give you hell!" Eyasei threatened as she bore down on her sharp canines. "I want to fight her….I want to do it so badly and you're getting in my way! I NEED to fight her!"

Hikairi sighed at that as she moved off of the door frame and stood in the center of the door way.

"No you don't Eyasei. What you need to do is calm down or I will be forced to do it for you." Hikairi warned, resting her hand on her grimoire at her side. "I really don't want to knock you out. But from what it sounds like when you get triggered like this, you're not the best in seeing reason."

"Oh, you think you're going to stop me that easily?" Eyasei asked darkly as her smirk widened. An orange aura began to grow on her arms, bearing beast-like projections as she knelt towards the ground to launch herself towards the mage in front of her.

"Don't make me laugh!" She yelled, seeing the usually laid back girl have a serious expression on her face. "I guess you can entertain me before I go, so let's see what a noble of your caliber can really do!"
