Jaiden

Chares had a fever while we exited the central field, Alger said it was because of the weather, at first I didn't understand, it was a beautiful day, but, I remembered he was a Twili, the sunny days he had spent affected him, even with his disguise. That's why he also crossed half of the southern field on horseback until we stopped to have some rest. Thankfully, our trip was undisturbed by no monsters or creepy Ganondorf followers. With the resources we had, we prepared a nice meal and lit a small fire. I thought we were going to eat together, but Ilaria and Carter said they had to talk. Some minutes later, I noticed Chares had woken up, so I decided to take some food for him.

"Hey there!" I yelled, he didn't answer. 'Perhaps he's just tired' I thought.

Chares just looked at Ilaria and Carter, making me turn my gaze that way. They kissed. My first reaction was... shock. "Dude, tell me you saw that! Our boy Carter is so lucky isn't he?"

Chares took a shaky breath, "Yes. He is"

I furrowed my brows. "Do you still feel sick?"

He shook his head, but his movements were still weak. "N-no, I-I'm ok"

I hugged him, and asked him what was bothering him, but he couldn't hear me as he fell asleep again.

...

Chares

...

I woke up to the fresh smell of pine trees and the sound of running water. I sat up and fixed my hair. The walls around me were wooden, colorful carpets and curtains decorated the space. For some reason, the cozy and welcoming room made me homesick. Not because of the style, but because it had an air of family love that couldn't be ignored. I sobbed. Looked at myself. I missed my life, my appearance, my realm. Maybe I was delirious, these things made me so sentimental all of the sudden.

A guy entered the room, he was maybe in his twenties. "Oh no, no, what is it? Does something hurt?"

He had straight blonde hair and blue eyes. His stare was kind and his voice was smooth. I took a big breath and tried to calm myself. "I'm sorry, I'm never like this, it must be the weather or... I don't even know what happened to me" he listened to me all of my nonsense babbling. "W-where am I? Who are you? Wait... where are my friends?"

He placed his hands on my shoulder and I looked at his eyes. His stare made me feel calmer. "It's ok. My name is Colin. I protect the village"

"Ordon village?"

He nodded. "We met Ilaria, Jaiden, the princes, their father, but you were sleeping, so we brought you to my house" he sighed. "Very unexpected. We hadn't had royalty here for a long time. Actually, it was just Queen Zelda who came some years ago"

"So, you never met Midna?" I asked curiously.

He widened his eyes. "Link's wife? No, never. We heard the story from him, it was hard to believe, well, I mean the whole magical things in his quest. I never doubted of his capacities, he was one of the strongest here in the village and I really looked up to him. Every once in a while, my dad and Link would teach me how to use the sword" he pointed at the sword attached to his belt. "Thankfully, things have been calm around here and I just use it to train"

I shook my head. "I hope we can find definitive peace, Colin"

"Yes... Ilaria and Alexander said something about that too. But anyways, I don't want to overwhelm you. Do you want to come outside?"

I nodded. "Thank you"

...

When I opened the door, I noticed we were some feet above the ground and the house looked as if it was built inside a tree. Green vegetation happened to be all over the place, giving the house a very calming vibe.

"It's relaxing" I said. "I'm not used to this much peace, Colin"

He laughed. "Well, make yourself at home, it's only early morning, maybe you want to come for a walk?"

"Yes, that would be great" I said.

We emerged to an open space, there were some houses around, all similar in style and material, which kept that welcoming appearance. Streams of shiny clear water mixed their sound with the wind and leaves. Pumpkins grew on dirt patches scattered around the houses, wooden bridges connected the roads so that nothing was left isolated. Far away, a gate with some goat horns could be seen, nearby the biggest house of them all. It looked as if nothing but peace had touched this land.

"What do you think?" Colin asked while we headed to a boat.

"It is... very pretty" I said. My eyes inspecting every detail of the place.

"Well, come on in" he signaled the boat to me.

I sat and we paddled to the centre of a small lake.

"So, Chares, you are a Twili aren't you?" he asked as he took out a fishing rod.

"Yes, I am" I said looking at the fish in the water.

He smiled. "That's cool. I had never met someone like you. What is it like? Do you have special powers and abilities?"

'He may look serious, but his curiosity takes over some times' I thought. "Well, I do have a power, some of us in Twilight are born with powers, others, are just common Twili. The ones with power have the duty to protect those who don't have special abilities, so it's quite a responsibility"

Colin nodded and continued fishing. "Have you had the need to protect those who don't have any powers?" he asked.

I shook my head. "No, not yet. Although, my parents say that somehow a boy found his way into Twilight and tried to kill the princess- Ilaria, some years ago, but Link defeated the beast the boy created by using the power of sol, the source of life in the realm. Not a lot of Twili people were injured during the battle, but those with power had to jump into action to avoid destruction"

"That's how he died, right?" Colin asked carefully. His eyes focused on the water.

"Yes, but, he died a hero, of both realms, and I have always admired him. I hope I can help people the same way he did"

Colin looked happy all of the sudden. He grabbed my hands. "I think exactly the same thing, Chares. I'm glad I met you"

I grinned after a long time of not doing so. "I'm happy I met you too, Colin"

His fishing rod fell to the lake, apparently a fish had pulled it hard. "Oh no!" he complained.

I used my power to bring his rod back. "There you go"

He took it and looked at me with stars in his eyes, making me smile. We spent some time on that boat, until danger caught up on us.

Leader vs hero

...

Ilaria

...

I woke up to the news that Chares was alright and that he was with Colin, paddling in the lake. The news calmed me a lot, but also made me feel responsible. Had I pushed them too hard? All of them? I went outside of the house I was staying in and took a big breath. 'Ordon is very pretty, dad' I thought. However, the voice stayed silent. "Strange" I mumbled.

"What's strange?" Alexander hugged me from behind.

I jumped. "Don't scare me like that!"

He giggled. "Good morning, Ilaria"

"Good morning, Alexander" I said smiling.

He gave me a kiss on the cheek. "Want to go have breakfast?"

I nodded. "Yes, let's go-"

Christopher appeared out of nowhere, his sword in hand. "Ilaria! We have a problem!"

"A problem? Where?"

"The entrance" he panted "Jaiden, he is holding him back"

I looked at Alexander, we ran to the gate.

...

My heart skipped a beat. Another follower. This one looked incredibly powerful. I suppressed a gasp. "The leader" I whispered.

Alexander prepared his bow, ready to shoot. "Hey, you! What do you want!?" he shouted.

Jaiden struggled while he blocked a hit from the leader. "Shut up, Carter" he coughed "He is way... too strong"

The leader threw Jaiden to the ground, and he did not get up.

"So pathetic. Are you sure you have the same powers than our god?" the leader said. "Don't make me laugh"

Alexander started mumbling strange words, a strange golden glow surrounded him.

"Ah, the prince. I would want to stay and play, but I have direct orders to kill you and the hero, let me do my job, yes?" he said as if he was asking for a small favor.

Alexander did not stir.

"Hey, I'm talking to you!" the leader yelled.

"Release" Alexander whispered.

He fired. The arrow was covered in light, and it was fast. It pierced right through his chest.

"Agh!" the leader shouted. "You brat!"

I looked at Alexander, completely stunned. "What was that?" I asked.

He smiled slightly. "A light arrow"

The leader stood up and took the arrow out of his chest.

Alexander's smile wavered.

"You have become powerful, your highness" he said approaching him. "However, not powerful enough!" the leader was gone in a flash of purple light.

I unsheathed my sword and protected Alexander. "Stay back!" I yelled.

He did as I said, but he also prepared an arrow to fire.

I heard a small groan. "Where are you looking at, hero?" the leader taunted.

I turned my gaze. He was holding Christopher, and he had disarmed him. 'How was I so foolish?' I thought.

I prepared to attack long-distance with one of my shadows.

"I wouldn't if I were you" he said. He took a black knife out of his pockets and placed it above Christopher's throat. "Now, we are talking" he laughed.

"Leave him out of this, he isn't who you came for!" I shouted. Anger crossing my veins like fire.

He hummed. "Maybe I did come for him" he said. "He is alive thanks to our god" he looked at Christopher. "The least you can do is praise him"

Chris gritted his teeth. "Never"

The leader clicked his tongue in disappointment. "Well, well, then I suppose I must kill you. To give our god his power back. No point in wasting it on you"

"HOLD IT!" Alger shouted coming out of nowhere. "Give me my son back"

The leader laughed. "Do you think I will reason with you?"

I took the opening, and hit the leader with one of my shadows. Straight at the face. He released Christoper and he ran to Alger's side. Sword in hand.

"Enough games! Leader!" I shouted. "You want to kill me? Then try!" I shouted.

"Well, well" he removed his mask. "Then, no more games"

He was...

He was...

"Lane" Alexander said.
