Nightstorm trekked through the forest beside his Clanmates, who were discussing the new system Addertail put in place. "It's a great idea, actually. No more favoritism from Yellowstar…" said Graycloud to Leaffall and Sunfur.

Nightstorm knew he was talking about Sandfur. With no Yellowstar to protect her from her fellow Clanmates Sandfur would have no chance to escape their hatred towards her. Leaffall shot a glance back at Nightstorm. "Is the favoritism really over though?"

Nightstorm hung his head down. Surely Addertail doesn't like me more than the others. A black and white warrior named Tinysnow spoke up. "I agree, Addertail seems to like Nightstorm for no reason," muttered Tinysnow under his breath, "I mean, who becomes deputy without an apprentice? And why make him deputy, we all know what he did."

Nighstorm sighed sadly. Will they ever think I'm normal? Addertail saw Nightstorm with his head down so he walked back from leading the Clan to comfort the black tom. "Don't let the other cats get to you," said Addertail, "you're very special, they're just jealous."

Nightstorm looked back at Addertail. "But what if I don't want to be special? What if I don't want every cat acting like I did something horrible! I'm tired of living like this."

Nightstorm started to side with Stonepelt's idea now. He's right, I want the Clans to forget about me, forget about what I did.

"Sometimes Nightstorm," replied Addertail, "We have to accept the past and move on, even if that means ignoring what we did wrong. You have a gift, and you must take responsibility for that gift, otherwise, StarClan wouldn't have chosen you."
"I suppose…" Nightstorm trailed off before speaking again, "Can you stop showing so much favoritism towards me? I know I'm the 'chosen one', but I'm turning into the next Sandfur."

"I thought you liked Sandfur?"

"I guess, but I don't want to end up like her. Not to mention every cat already thinks I'm weird, so it wouldn't help my current status."

"That is ridiculous. I shall address that at the Clan meeting tomorrow, you shouldn't be antagonized by the other warriors for being special."

"Um, no, don't bring that up, it's fine really…" said Nighstorm, not wanting to have the situation escalate.

"No! Enough is enough, the next cat who antagonizes you will be punished, and that is final," hissed Addertail before stomping back to the front of the Clan.

Nightstorm wanted to run away from the rest of the Clans and never come back. Somehow, nothing got fixed, nothing got better, and it all just got worse. Even if every FireClan warrior was nice to him he wouldn't feel comfortable with them, if they were just acting like that because they didn't want to be punished.

"I'm glad Addertail is actually fixing the Clan bullying you, Nightstorm."

Nightstorm spun around to see Mintbreeze trudging along behind him. "I thought you weren't coming?" asked Nightstorm.

Mintbreeze chuckled. "I decided to go anyway."
Nightstorm sighed and caught up to her pace. "I did want every cat to think I was normal, but not like this, not being forced to."

Mintbreeze shrugged. "I don't see the difference. You got what you wanted, why are you complaining?"

Nightstorm realized she was right. "But what if I become another Sandfur?"

Mintbreeze chuckled again. "I doubt you'll ever be as hated as her, but I see your point. Especially if you become mates with her, that would really dig you into a hole."

Nightstorm rolled his eyes. "I'm not mates with her Mintbreeze, though I think she might think we are…"

Mintbreeze gave him a concerned look. "You should tell her to clear it up, every cat around FireClan thinks your mates."

Nightstorm sighed. Cats are always jumping to conclusions. I mean, we're friends, right? I never felt anything for her…

Nightstorm and Mintbreeze now we're stuck in awkward silence. Nightstorm opened his jaw to speak. "So you're not mad about Sandfur anymore?"

"No," replied Mintbreeze, "I was just an irritating apprentice."

Nightstorm chuckled. "Well, at least you got something right."

"All cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather around for a Clan meeting."

Nightstorm was already at Addertail's side when he called out the Clan meeting. Nightstorm shuffled his paws nervously. I really don't want this to happen.

Nightstorm spotted Featherheart, a gray she-cat, Snowwhisker, a white tom, Eagleclaw, a cream tom, and many other Clanmates all ready to hear what Addertail would say.

"It has come to my attention that some cats here think I am favoriting Nightstorm over his gift…" Addertail spoke.

Nightstorm winced. He spotted Graycloud giving a confused expression to Addertail. "It has also come to my attention that you antagonize him for no reason… from this day onwards any antagonization towards Nightstorm will result in punishment."
The crowd of cats were clearly unsure about this new rule. Featherheart stepped forward. "We don't care for Nightstorm, no cat here likes him except for you."

Nightstorm cringed. This is going worse than I thought. "It's fine Addertail, let them speak their mind." meowed Nightstorm, hoping Addertail would stop this.

Feathertail looked grateful for Nightstorm doing something about Addertail's rant. "I can't have every warrior here distracting you from your visions because they have a personal grudge against you," argued Addertail.

Eagleclaw bristled his fur. "No cat here has a personal grudge against Nightstorm and you know that! We should keep an eye on him at the very least, he's unpredictable. Now that I think about it, we can't have him possibly be leader, that would be chaos."

Nightstorm winced again. He thought that this was a bad thing for Addertail to do but now his Clanmates were being harsher than he had expected.

Addertail bristled his fur and gritted his teeth. "I don't think you understand what's happening, Eagleclaw. StarClan chose Nightstorm to speak through, and if StarClan chooses him then he is fit to be leader."

Graycloud hissed. "Nightstorm, under no circumstances should ever be leader, there is obviously something very wrong with him. 'Chosen One', sure, leader, no."

Addertail dug his claws into the ground out of frustration. "Fine, Nightstorm is no longer deputy. From this day forward Sandfur will be deputy."

Addertail gave a smirk, knowing he had just made the angry cats annoyed, but not as much as they were with Nightstorm.

Addertail continued talking. "Nightstorm, please step down. I know Sandfur hasn't had an apprentice, but she is clearly the most fit for leader out of all of you. She has even taken leader training, so she is our best bet."

Nightstorm actually agreed with this. He's right, no other cat should have the job. "But then again, I will speak to Snakefang. If he wants to come back to be a deputy in a Clan that isn't broken apart then he can," said Addertail.

This time Firepelt stepped forward to speak. "Maybe you should make Snakefang leader, you have no idea what you're doing."

Addertail gave a quick hiss at him. "I gave you what you wanted, didn't I? Just don't mess with Nightstorm and for that, you now have a chance at a better deputy."

The crowd seemed satisfied as they dispersed.

Nightstorm sighed in relief and walked back to the warrior's den to relax from the tense meeting. He flopped down into his nest and tried to ease his mind. Addertail did say he needed no distractions."Hey Nightstorm," said a familiar voice from ahead of him.

Nightstorm peered open his eyes. Sandfur. Nightstorm now felt awkward around her now that he knew she liked him. He started the conversation as best as he could do. "Er, hey… I thought you would be sadder about you possibly not being a deputy?"

Sandfur shrugged. "I could care less honestly… I was never fit to be leader, even if Yellowstar always wanted it."

Nightstorm felt bad for Sandfur. He couldn't imagine having that much weight to bear on his shoulders. I would never want to be a leader… I couldn't ever bear to watch my Clanmates die because of me.

Sorry Crystalshine but Sandfur x Nightstorm is gone... reduced to atoms...

Mintbreeze x Nightstorm is more on the rise I would say... mayyyyyaaaabbbeeeee
