Chapter 18
Mobilization
"Alright! Give it to me!" Alex exclaimed. He and Ivan had practiced all day yesterday and he had managed to redirect a few of his attacks. This morning was the big test
"Ok, this is a fully powered one, be prepared" Ivan warned.
Alex took his stance, feet apart and hands at the ready. He gave Ivan a nod, ready for anything.
The mouth on Ivan's stomach opened and fired a shadow ball, Alex held out his hand and stopped it, controlling its energy to prevent it from detonating on impact, he then pushed away into a nearby rock, the shadow ball detonating in the center of the target.
"Well done, you learned far faster than I thought possible" Ivan praised him.
The two of them were about to head to lunch when a Pokémon arrived, it looked similar to Uxie.
"Where is my sister!" Mesprit demanded, her voice full of concern.
"In there…" Alex answered nervously.
As Mesprit rushed inside the tent, the realization came over Alex. If Uxie's sister was here then that could mean only one of two things, Nigel was captured or another time gear was stolen.
Alex and Ivan has no time to consider the possible outcomes before Blaze, Tesla and Lana walked up, sand still coating their bodies and a look of pure and utter despair on their faces.
Alex didn't even bother asking, he knew what had happened.
"So now what!" Chuck shouted as Wallace tried to calm the assembled crowd.
"There's only one time gear left, how are we gonna figure out where it is?!" Carver asked.
Alex just then noticed a crystal necklace on Carver's neck. A souvenir from his team's assigned time gear search. Thanks to Lana's studies they knew a time gear had to be in the southern corner of the continent, and Crystal Cave was a likely hiding spot.
"Could we ask Mesprit?" Larry suggested.
"She's too busy healing her sister to be disturbed, I'm at a loss for what to do" Cleft admitted.
"I have an idea, Carver, let me see your crystal for a moment" Alex asked.
"What, why?" Carver asked.
"I just need to see it for a moment, you can have it back afterwards" Alex assured him.
Ivan's eye socket curled up into a smile, he had a good feeling of what Alex was thinking.
"The dimensional Scream is worth a try, give it to him Carver" Ivan requested.
Carver jumped at Ivan's voice and said "ok"
"Dimensional scream, what's that?" Ned asked, causing everyone to look at the usually silent Croagunk.
"It's an ability Alex possesses, when he touches something he may see a vision of the past or future" Blaze explained as Carver took his necklace off and laid it in front of Alex.
"This ability has never been wrong, trust that what Alex sees is very real" Ivan assured everyone.
Alex sized up the crystal in front of him, just slightly bigger than an apple, a pit formed in his stomach.
Everyone, Ivan, Wallace and even Cleft were staring at him, waiting for him to produce a solution out of thin air.
"I've only been able to cause a vision on purpose once, everyone is watching, but I need to concentrate" Alex thought before touching the crystal and running his hand along it, feeling the sleek surface, trying to sense something.
It happened just as he was about to give up, his pupils dilated and he saw a blue flash, amid a cold stone floor, a Pokémon that looked very similar to Uxie and Mesprit was lying defeated in a pile of blue crystals.
"Now for the time gear, the last one!" Nigel said triumphantly.
"No, Nigel, you'll never get it!" The smaller Pokémon said just before the vision ended.
When he could see again everyone was still staring at him, he forgot that almost no time passed for an outside viewer.
"I saw something! Nigel had just defeated a Pokémon that looked like Uxie and Mesprit, it was in Crystal Cave!" Alex yelled, unaware of how loud he was speaking.
"Then we gotta go!" Cleft said frantically, causing everyone to panic and head to the stairs.
"WAIT!" Wallace yelled to get everyone attention.
Everyone stopped in place and turned their attention to the Guildmaster.
"Crystal Cave is massive, we can't go rushing in there with no plan. We're gonna split off into teams to cover ground. Everyone pull out your explorer badges" Wallace requested.
After everyone pulled their badges out, Wallace ran into his room and returned with his own explorer badge, it had the two stars on the wings like other master ranked badges. The difference was the black orb in the center was now a beautiful blue gem with a black outline instead of the third star. No one besides Cleft had ever seen a real guildmaster ranked badge. The badge wasn't simply given to someone when they started a guild, only after you had proven to exceed even 3 star master ranked teams would you be given a badge that showed you were worthy to be a guildmaster.
Wallace held his badge forward and said "on my mark, hold down the center button until I say so"
Everyone present, including Tesla, Lana and Team Go Getters got ready.
"Three, two, one, mark" Wallace said as he held down the button causing his blue gem to flash repeatedly.
Everyone's badge flashed blue for a moment before returning to normal.
"We're all linked now, press the center button to communicate between each other and the left button to send an SOS" Wallace explained.
The room's mood became more tense, it was clear the Guildmaster was more serious than he had ever been.
"Ivan, Cleft and I are Team A, Tesla, you lead Team B with Geo, Chuck, Serena and Grant" Wallace ordered, getting a collective nod, no one was questioning team assignments at a time like this.
"Team C will be led by Lana and consist of Her, Blaze, Alex, Ned and Carver" Wallace continued.
"Team Go-Getters will be Team D, This is now or never, If you see Nigel, report it but DO NOT LET HIM GET AWAY" Wallace finished.
Crystal Cave was about an hour away, the Guild traveled in a unit before splitting up at the cave's entrance. This was do or die not only for the Wigglytuff Guild but the entire world...
Author's note- Explorer badges have three buttons in my story, one for sending someone to the guild, one for restraining criminals and calling the officers and the middle one can act as a comunication device between people. The next chapters will be a massvie action scene in crystal lake, the logest most involved fight I've ever written! See you all for that two weeks from now!
