"Guess what?!" Zed said excitedly as he dropped his bags at the door.
Coach's froyo business is doing so well that he's been approached by a franchisee! "
"That's awesome! We'll have to remember to buy him a gift the next time we're out." Addison said
"There's more ..." He said as he paused for dramatic effect
"You're looking at Seabrook Hugh's new head football coach next year!" He said
"Oh my gosh ... Zed that's amazing! If I could jump up and hug you, but I can't, so get over here!" Addison said as she beckoned him excitedly with her outstretched arms.
He happily obliged.
"It's a good gig, too imagine that ... a zombie coaching football!" He said excitedly as he pulled back from his embrace and studied her face
"Addy, do you feel okay? " he asked
"Yeah, just tired, being pregnant will do that to you." She said
"The doctor said to take it easy and stay off your feet." He reminded her
"Yes, but three is a lot to do, there's car shopping, and I'm cheer captain, Zed, I can't just flake out, there are people who depend on me." She said
"But you also have this little dude depending on you, too." He said as he tested a hand on her stomach
"Zed, I'm fine, I promise. " She assured him as she placed her hand over his.
Zed didn't reply, he merely studied her. It bothered him how tired she looked, but he decided to drop the topic for now ... but that didn't mean he stopped thinking, or worrying about it.
"I think I've decided where I want to have the wedding. " she said, changing the subject
He brightened immediately
"Oh?"
"I want to have it in Zombietown, in unity park, I think it would be perfect, especially since our relationship was the thing that kicked this whole change off." She said
"Addy, I think that's a great idea!" He said excitedly
"And we can have Mazy's cater it." She said
"Even better!" He replied as he promptly scooped her up off the couch into his arms
"And now, little miss Cheery McCheerstein, you are going to go to bed." He said as he stood, easily cradling her in his arms.
"He never ceases to amaze me how strong you are." She remarked as she wrapped her arms around his neck.
His eyes sparkled as he grinned at her
"Oh, really?"
"Really." She said as she kissed him passionately.
"Addy, if you don't stop right now, we're not going to make it to the bedroom. " He said as his eyes began to take on their red tint.
"Well then you better start walking. " she purred at him as she ran her hands through his hair the way she knew he liked.
Zed vaguely remembered walking to the bedroom and gently placing her on the bed, he grabbed his shirt and yanked it over his head, not carrying that he almost ripped it in half in the process
"You're so beautiful, Addy ... I can't believe how lucky I am. I feel like I need to keep pinching myself to make sure I'm not dreaming. " he said as he slowly and carefully crawled on top of her.
"That's funny, because I find myself thinking the same thing. " she said as she cupped her hand around the back of his neck and pulled him down for a kiss.
"Oh hell!" Zed said against her mouth as with a herculean effort, he pulled away from her.
"Should we even be doing this? Will it hurt you or the baby? I never even thought of that! Oh man, I'm such a jerk!" He said as he practically leapt off of her.
"Zed whoa! Calm down! We can ask the doctor at my next appointment this Friday."
Zed blew out a breath as he relaxed
"Okay... but no love making until we talk to him." He said sternly
Addison pretended to pout as she crossed her arms in front of her
"Meanie." She said as she stuck her tongue out at him
He looked at her for a moment before he burst into a fit of laughter.
"I'm sorry, I just find it so ironic and funny that most often, I have been the voice of reason and logic in this relationship. That's Definitely not something I saw coming." He said, chuckling as he shook his head.
"Shut up." She said playfully as she tossed a pillow at him.
"All joking aside, I really want to make sure everything is okay before we ... You know." He said, trailing off as he rubbed the back of his neck, something he always did when he was embarrassed, it was one of the main ways she could tell, especially since zombies didn't have the ability to blush.
"Well, then I guess we'll have to just cuddle." She said as she beckoned to him with her outstretched arms.
Zed grinned at her
"I'll take it."
"Okay, let's see this little guy." Doctor Henley said as she put the wand against Addison's stomach.
"He sure is an active one!" She said as she followed him around with the wand.
"Soon he won't have the room to run from us as easily though." She said with a laugh
"That's actually something I was concerned about. I still have two more months to go and already I'm almost wearing end of third trimester size maternity clothes!"
"That could be due to your size, every woman, and every pregnancy is different, even subsequent pregnancies in the same parents can be different ..."
"It is? Wow I didn't know that, good thing to know for our future kids." Zed said
"Excuse me, FUTURE kids? We haven't even had the first one yet!" Addison interjected
"Yeah ... Sorry ... I guess I'm getting ahead of myself." He said with a bashful grin
Doctor Henley laughed in spite not herself as she continued.
"Like I was saying, it could be both due to how petite you are, and the fact that it looks like this little guys going to be a tall one!" She said
"Well of course he is, look at his dad!" Addison laughed.
"What can I say? My genes are strong." He said with a wink
"How's your diet, Addison?" Doctor Henley asked
"Ravenous! It seems like I've been eating everything in sight!" Addison replied As a nurse entered and handed Doctor Henley a printout.
"Okay, I'm going to print you out a nutritional plan that I want you to follow." She said
"Why, what's wrong? Is something wrong with the baby?" Addison said as she and Zed exchanged a worried look.
"No, it's you. Your blood pressure is rather high, and I am concerned that you might be starting to develop a condition called preeclampsia, which is a fancy word that means high blood pressure during pregnancy. It goes away when the baby is born, but it can be very dangerous.
"What should we do?" Zed asked as he took hold of Addison's hand
"Before I try any medications, I would like to try to control it with diet, and some lifestyle changes. I know this is going to be hard for you, Addison, but you're going to have to get off your feet more and take it easy. By the way you talk, you've been carrying on like you're not pregnant, and you have to remember that your body is making a whole new being in there and that you need to take care of it. There will be plenty of time to be a go getter once the baby is born." Doctor Henley said.
"Ha! See? I WAS right! That's what I've been telling her since we found out we were having a baby! That she needed to slow down and take it easy!" Zed exclaimed
Addison shrugged embarassingly
"I guess old habits die hard. But if it's for my son, than I'll do it, I'll do anything for him." She said
"There is something else we had a question about ..." Zed trailed off as he met Addison's gaze and she blushed enough for the both of them.
"I'm a doctor, remember? There is no such thing a question that is too embarrassing, and what you do share is confidential.
"Well ... We were wondering if it was ... Okay to ..." Zed trailed off
"You know ..." Addison finished for him
A look of understanding crossed doctor Henley's face as she smiled kindly at them
"You mean is it okay have sex?" She said factually
"Well ... Yeah." Zed said
"Usually I advise couples to abstain during the first trimester, because that is when the risk of miscarriage is highest, but after that, as long as the baby is healthy and the pregnancy is normal, which you pass with flying colors on both accounts, I see no reason to abstain from intimacy provided that you are careful."
Zed visibly deflated with relief
"Good." He said as another nurse handed Doctor Henley another printout
"This is the diet plan, and the exercise plan I want you to follow, because yes, you should be getting exercise, but being on your feet for hours at a time running cheer practice, and then running around doing errands all day has got to stop, at least for now. I am going to be straight with you, Addison, if you don't listen to me, you could be put on bed rest for the remainder of your pregnancy, or worse, you could do damage to yourself, or the baby." Doctor Henley said
Addison felt a heavy feeling of dread settle in the pit of her stomach at the very thought of something happening to her son.
"Whatever you tell me to do, I'll do it." She said
"And I'll be there to make sure she does it." He said with a wink
The doctor have them a satisfied smile
"Good, here is the plan I want you to follow, if you start experiencing any dizziness, verdigo, or feeling faint, I want to see you back here immediately." She said as she handed her the printouts
"Will do, thanks, doc." Zed said as he helped Addison off the bed
"Damn ... I'll have to lay off the pizza." Addison said with a laugh as she read over the printouts on the drive home.
"I have to admit, I am looking forward to not having to use my dad's van anymore, I am almost desperate enough to buy one of those hideous pink monstrosities we saw at the dealership." He said with a laugh as Addison's phone rang.
"Hello? Right, we'll be right there." She hung up and turned to Zed with a big smile
"We won't have to worry about that anymore, let's stop off at Eliza's house."
