Once Katara was seated, Azula decided to have a little bit of fun with the peasant.
"Peasant, the Earth King has invited you to Lake Laogai."
The peasant's pupils widened. "I am honored to accept his invitation," Katara said.
"Wake up, peasant."
The peasant's pupils went back to normal. She shook her head, and regained her bearings. "Huh... what?" she said. Then she saw Azula. "I should've guessed," she spat. "No way the Dai Li would be running around without their crazy Azula now, would they? Those spineless cowards need someone to stand behind, no matter how crazy they are. And I thought Long Feng was a bad enough leader."
"Oh be quiet, you peasant."
"Don't you dare call me that! My name is Katara! Apparently your head is too bloated to recognize any of your mistakes! I bet I'd be able to take you down in under a minute, like I did last time. Think about it, you're calling me a peasant and yet I beat you in a fight in which you cheated. I'm not afraid of you. Come on and fight me now, unless you're too scared and prissy to make a move against me."
Azula smirked. It looked like her plan was working so far. "It looks like my plan is working, peasant."
The peasant snorted. "What are you talking about? Your plans to brainwash me have failed," Azula grinned, knowing that the post-indoctrination suggestions had done their work. "And what's more - you didn't even restrain me!" Katara made a sudden movement, but was held in check by a firewhip to her throat.
"Silence, peasant!" Azula flared. "Now, there is no water that you can safely bend. And if you try one more funny thing, make one false start, and I will make sure your worthless life ends in a miserable catastrophe of fire. Understand, peasant?"
Pale though she was, Katara refused to look Azula in the eye. Azula stepped forward and pulled Katara's chin up. "Did you hear me, peasant?"
Katara glared at her, and then spat on her. Azula stepped back, revolted. That revolting watertribe peasant! Then she composed herself. "Normally I would say that you would pay for that, peasant," Azula smirked as Katara shot daggers at her. "But the thing is - I think you have already paid it back handsomely."
The peasant's face looked confused. As to be expected from an inferior mind. "What are you talking about, Azula?" the peasant asked.
Azula walked around a little before whirling around and shooting the peasant a grin. "Well, let's just say you've been a very loyal servant lately, peasant..."
"What are you talking about?" Katara widened at the implications. "Wait... are you saying..."
Azula studied her fingernails. "Yes, peasant. Even your shockingly strong mind couldn't resist the power of oblivious, blissful submission," she said to Katara's sick expression. "However... I have noticed you slipping lately. You seem to... hesitate... whenever you let your feelings dictate your actions. So... I've called you here again to rectify that mistake."
"How do I know it's true? How do I know you really brainwashed me? You can't prove it!" the peasant said desperately.
Azula leered at her. "Well, you'll see soon..." she started the indoctrination process once more. "Now... do you remember being brainwashed, peasant?" she grinned.
"What are you even... talking... about..." Katara's pupils shrank once again.
"Don't make me repeat myself again, peasant. Do you remember being brainwashed."
This time, it took almost no time for Katara to be brought under the influence again. "Yes... I remember now, Firelord..."
"Good girl. Now, watch the lamp as it moves..."
"Yes Firelord," Katara's eyes dutifully kept its gaze on the hypnotic lamp.
"Now.. go deeper into your submission..."
"Deeper... submission..." Katara's eyes widened and her pupils shrank even further...
"You have no will."
"..." Katara could not even speak of her own accord.
"You have forgotten your old orders, peasant...
"You will receive new orders now, peasant...
"And you will repeat them after me."
"I will repeat them after you," Katara repeated dully, pupils now enlarging.
Azula's eyes glinted in malicious satisfaction. "When you hear the phrase 'You filthy slave of a water tribe peasant' you will be receptive to my orders."
"When I hear the phrase 'You filthy slave of a water tribe peasant' I will be receptive to your orders," Katara said, eyes never leaving the lamp.
"The Avatar and his friends are your enemies to the last."
"The Avatar and his friends are my enemies to the last."
"I am your Firelord."
"You are my Firelord."
"You are a simple, pathetic peasant."
"I am a simple, pathetic peasant."
"You will always follow my orders."
"I will always follow your orders."
"You are my slave."
"I am... your slave." By this point Katara's gaze had latched onto Azula.
Azula cocked an eyebrow. "You idiot girl. You have no free will. You do not have a mind of your own. Say it without hesitation, you pathetic peasant. You. Are. My. Slave."
"I am your slave, Firelord Azula."
"You will die for me."
"I will die for you."
"You are mine forever."
"I am yours forever," Katara murmured, eyes never leaving her master.
Azula grinned under the sickly green light. "Very good..." She was only getting started.
