Hey everyone!
Happy 5 years of Miraculous! Can't believe it's been five years of Marinette, Adrien, and the entire cast being in our lives.
And on another note, Happy 4th anniversary of this story being around! I wrote this idea way back in 2016 and it has been an incredible journey to flesh out all these characters. Sure the story isn't over yet, but I do have an ending planned. Just trying to get all the plot down and written up is the hardest part. Thank you all my readers, guests, and others just wanting a good story to read.
Marinette, Bridgette, Marin, Jeannette, Marie, and Glasses Mari thank you all for reading.
So...I thought for the anniversary of the story, I do just a little break chapter from the main plot. Just a warning for the future plot, there will be betrayals, shocking twist, and even a few deaths. You'll see a side of these characters that none have seen before and the real villain will reveal themselves. Felix will have to sort out these feelings he now has for Bridgette and Marinette and Adrien will sort through their own.
You can turn back now because this is where the plot gets serious.
A Quick Break
"So...multiverse theory exist now?"
The Ladybugs, separate from their teams, were hanging out in a small room that Tikki Prime had set up for them. They sat down at a round table, full to the brim with some lunch. It was just a little after their recent training session and the lot of them were exhausted from the work that Tikki Prime and Glasses Marinette had put them through.
Marin was slumped over the table, his cheeks pressed against the cool wood. Marie was sipping juice, eyeing the sweets at the center of the table. Marinette was snacking on the sweets, giving some to the now active Bridgette. Glasses sipped some tea that she had requested, wanting to feel some sort of calmness before the ensuing battle. Jeanette had been the one to pop the question, finding it surreal that she was surrounded by Ladybugs from other universes.
"I would've never thought I would be sitting at a table with other versions of myself." Marinette admitted, popping another muffin in her mouth. "I just read about other Ladybugs before me, but the book never said anything about multiverse."
"Tikki does call herself the Prime though." Bridgette's bangs formed question marks. "Does that imply that Tikki Prime is from the first universal timeline that Ladybug existed in?"
Marin rubbed his forehead. "This is all insane. How is this even possible? I rather not go into the details about how we aren't creating time paradoxes or rips in the fabric of the universe from just sitting at the table."
"I'm curious though..." Little Marie piped up, placing her juice down. "What are your worlds like? Do you guys live in the future or something?"
Glasses gave her a surprised look. "I keep forgetting that not only are you the youngest of the group, but the oldest in terms of time frame. I suppose all this talk about cellphones and tablets are beyond your comprehension."
Marie huffed, turning away. "I may be small, but I don't need a miraculous to cast spells. Mistress Tikki teaches me how to use my magic for the sake of the world and saving mankind from the Akuma."
The rest of the gang leaned forward, eager to hear more of the little mage's world view.
Marie, noticing that the spotlight was on her, smirked and decided to talk more. "In my world, those who have magical abilities go to a prestigious school in order to hon their magical potential. They have to be born in families that have magic in the veins or be of nobility. Another way for someone to be granted magical powers is through the rite of the Miraculous. I just happened to stumble upon a the ritual place of the Ladybug, where I met Mistress Tikki. Seeing how young and manageable I could be, she took me under her wing to learn the ways of luck and light."
"Wow, she must be a great witch." Jeanette gushed, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
"A great and powerful witch to be exact. Legend has it that she was able to slay the Akuma with her most powerful spell, the Miracle Burst. Using her staff, Mistress could summon a bout of magical energy in the form of Ladybugs and heal just about anything. I heard that spell could even bring the dead back to life!" Marie took another sip of juice. "One day, when I can control the amount of magic coming out of me, I will be able to use the Miracle Burst."
Glasses smiled at her determination. "Sounds like you have your work planned out for you."
Marie pumped her fist. "I can do a few simple spells at the moment. When I return back to my own world, I'm going to learn those advance level spells."
"Speaking of our own worlds, I can't wait to get back to my own town of Neo-Paris." Jeanette swirled the liquid in her cup with a wistful look in her eyes. "I quite miss my robotic partner and my besties."
"Wait...you have a robot partner? What happened to the Black Cat Miraculous?" Marinette asked her predecessor.
"Locked away with the rest of the miraculous. Ever since we lost the moth miraculous once more, you became more paranoid with whom you gave the miraculous to. Mom once said you gave her a chance to become Ladybug, but she declined." Jeanette's eyes widen as she stopped. "Are you sure I should be telling you this? I recall my training with the Rabbit Miraculous that I'm not supposed to reveal the future."
"Hey, we probably aren't going to remember much about what happens here. Why bother freaking out about the potential to break time." Bridgette shrugged, sneaking another slice of cake.
"Guess not! So, instead of multiple people using miraculous at once, you just have me as Superior Ladybug to patrol the city. My partner, the robot one, is from a lab somewhere in the city and helps me with my missions. He's quite the charmer, that one is."
"A robot partner, now I've heard everything." Marin snarked, pouring a cup of coffee. "The future seems wildly unpredictable if only one person uses a miraculous."
Jeannette sighed. "I've tried to get grandmother to let more people use miraculous like she used to do in the past, but every time I bring that up she always talks about the "Miracle Queen" incident." She turned to Marinette with a stern look. "Promise me that you'll never become as neurotic and paranoid like she does in the future."
Marinette held her hands up in a surrendering motion. "Okay!"
Glasses chuckled. "At least you just have to be responsible for just one of them. I have four in my custody and I constantly feel tired every time I have to be a superhero. Living alone in the big city with no family or friends does get boring, but it's the life I chose."
"Why do you choose to live that way? What about friendships, relationships, or even just basic companionship?" Marie asked the older counterpart.
"My parents are dead, I've never stayed with a friend longer than a few months, and I was in love once." Bitterly, she sipped her tea to keep down the bile. "He was a sweet guy, but a terrible liar. I saw him kiss another girl right in front of me and that was the end of that relationship. He accused me of being an ice queen and turned the whole school against me. I don't really mind that he did it either, the surprising part in this whole scenario."
"Woah...what a jerk." Bridgette replied, rolling her own eyes. "Reminds me of a certain black cat whom I tried to get with. Maybe I should take a page out of your book and swear off men forever."
"Not all guys are bad and I won't sit here and let you bad mouth them." Marin stood up, fully alert and glaring at the two. "So a couple of jerks break your hearts and now you want to go off men entirely? That has got to be the most asinine thing I've ever heard!"
"You've never had your heart broken before Marin?" Marinette asked the male.
"I've been saving myself for a very special lady. In fact, I plan on asking her out the second this whole event is over." Marin gave Glasses and Bridgette a look. "I just can't stand girls who get their heart smashed and want to denounce the entire male race. Look, I can't say all men are perfect, but even we are human and make mistakes. If it's too hard to forgive males, then that's on you, not us. Plus, if that man was such a jerk to you, but you didn't notice since your infatuation was high, that says a lot about you."
Bridgette turned away, slightly embarrassed by the way she acted. Not her fault that the boy she loved only loved her for her powers. It just hurt that he chose to ignore and ridiculed her for just having a small crush on him. Perhaps Marin was right, maybe she let her crush on him cloud her judgment. This was her break from men, a chance to find herself without having her defining trait be just a fangirl.
Marinette saw a little of herself in Bridgette, pining for the affections of a boy who would never notice you. Unlike her, Adrien acknowledged her and sees her as a friend at least. Bridgette had great friends unlike Felix and it seemed that one of them liked her the way she liked Felix. She rubbed her hand on Bridgette's, making the anime girl smile softly.
"You're right Marin, I guess it is quite unfair for me to blame everything except for myself. I fell in love with a guy who had no intention to date me." Sighing, she leaned back on her chair. "I think my attention for love stems back to the fact that my father left my mother when I was little. Never saw him again afterwards and the divorce was messy enough for me to forget. Having my grandfather around helped, but it's not the same. Then I lost one of my closest friend two years ago and I'm still mourning her loss to this day. Maybe if I had been just a little faster, maybe if I had told her how much she meant to me..."
There was silence as the others stared at Bridgette. Even Glasses could say she had both parents at one point. To think that one of them had been suffering so much loss in her life...
"Enough of this negative talk!" Jeanette exclaimed, snapping everyone out of their stupor. "We have a mission to do and several worlds to save. Ladybugs are lucky and bring hope for the future. If we give into despair and negativity, then we are no better than the Akuma we fight! The time for action is now! So let's end the pity party and get back to training!"
The others stared at Jeanette before smiling contently. Something about Jeanette was so charming and passionate that they believe she was a leader. Everyone agreed with what she had said. It was time to go back to training and get things done so they can go back home.
Tikki Prime smiled to herself from her spot at the door. Truly she did pick the best team.
