AN: Hey guys. Here's another update for you all

Disclaimer: I do not own The Amazing World of Gumball, nor do I own Alaska who is the character of Amethyst Wereraven. This story is adopted from her own "Dragon Rider" story.

The first thing that Yuna could feel was something sticky wrapped around her. Like a blanket that was covered in melted glue yet felt as cold as ice. She tried to open her eyes, but something was also keeping them from fully opening. All she could see was darkness. She tried listening in with her coyote ears to make sense of where she was. Dripping. Rats scurrying around. Muffled voices.

By God, where was she? She tried to think of what happened. She and her friends had been biking when they came across one of Elmore's more infamous landmarks: The Gate of The Devil. The gate was really a tunnel near an abandoned factory that had been a town legend for years since her great grandfather's time. It was said that it led to a series of underground passages and sewer systems that eventually led to the lair of the lord of darkness himself.

It was practically a rite of passage for the young to see how far they could go before chickening out. Yuna had never done it, but the rest of her friends wanted to go in and so she followed reluctantly. With their cellphones lighting the way, they passed numerous graffiti that ranged from strange gang logos to satanic worshiping symbols. Yuna didn't know if they were a joke or not, but after twenty minutes of walking in she just wanted to leave.

That's when they heard that noise. The noise of something scuttering slowly around them. Yuna thought it was one of her friends trying to scare her, but then she felt something grab her and before she knew it she was being dragged into the darkness. She barely had time to scream before she felt something pierce her side and she lost all sense.

Now she was here, unsure of where she was or what had happened to her. She tried moving but whatever had her wrapped up was tight. She could barely even move her legs, hands or tail. Her eyes were still unable to open and she couldn't scream due to her jaw being shut tight.

Then she heard it again. That noise. That skittering noise. It made her freeze up and hold her breath. She started praying that whatever it was would ignore her. That her friends had escaped and went to get help so she could be rescued. It was getting closer, Yuna could hear it breathing as dread filled her heart. A small stream of her urine began to streak down her leg, but Yuna didn't care. Wetting herself seemed trivial compared to the fact that the thing was inched from her face.

Before she knew it, she was picked up and being dragged in the air. She wiggled and tried to scream, but it was futile. The trappings had Yuna at its mercy. She felt her back land on something soft and bounced for a bit before becoming still. The stream was no longer small. She had lost full control of her bladder.

The wait seemed to be like hours, but Yuna knew it was just seconds before it would happen. She had seen plenty of horror movies only she wasn't the last girl that survived in the end. She was another victim about to meet her end. The knowing that you were going to die and yet wanted it to hold for as long as possible was nerve wracking. She could have done anything in her final moments: find peace, think of her life, pray to whatever god was out there. But all she could do was just wish for more time before it came.

And then it did.

Like two hot daggers, dipped in acid, she felt them piercing her stomach. Yuna screamed from the inside as it began to suck her dry. She felt bile and blood drip down her mouth as her stomach was torn open further. She could feel her organs being ripped apart and swallowed like spaghetti while her blood was the sauce. Finally, Yuna's eyes rolled to the back of her head as the pain began to slowly fade into a cold feeling of nothingness. Her last thoughts before she passed on was realizing that it was the devil.

The devil had killed her.

It had already been two weeks, but Gumball was starting to see some results of the training E-4 and his mother were providing for him. He actually could start running faster without coming out of breath, and he felt his limbs getting a bit more stern every morning. A lot of changes had to come with his new exercise plan. For one, he was being forced to eat a lot of healthier foods which forced him to cut down on the sugar, soft drinks, fatty meats, and take out food. Of course, Gumball did manage to convince his father once and awhile to share some of his food every so often when his mother wasn't looking.

However, the one thing he really hated was the fact that he was so bored of pretending to be dead. There was nothing on TV and watching the news talk about him as the Dragon Rider got boring after the first three days. All his video games were beaten. Nothing interesting on the internet save for more boring let's plays, Kpop videos, and people complaining how much the year sucked. He couldn't even chat online due to him being "dead".

Going outside, except to train and play with Alaska, was also a chore as he had to do his best to not get noticed by anybody. Often this forced him to wear a disguise or hide in the trunk as his mother or father drove him to get training done with E-4. But that was all he could do. He couldn't go to the movies. Or hang out at the arcade. Or shop at the mall. He was even starting to miss attending school!

Still, if there was one thing that kept him amused it was Alaska. Now that she was able to be small again, she wanted to know and see everything she could around the house, on TV, and online. He spent hours going over various things that she wanted to know or see. It was kind like raising her as a kid again all those years ago. Alaska had also been doing well with E-4's training. She was flying faster and managed to increase her fire breath by a few inches. Still, they didn't know if the results of their training were working out or not as there wasn't really anyone or anything they could spar against.

"So Carrie suspects...still suspects that I'm not dead...but can't sense me?" Gumball asked, doing pushups as E-4 applied more weight with his gravity beam. If he had been outside of his Dragon Rider armor, Gumball was sure his back would be broken in half. "99...100!"

Throwing the heavy weights his mom had lent them, Gumball stretched his back and moaned before shaking his head. "Man, I hope by the end of all this training I end up getting a six pack. I feel more buff than I ever have in my life."

"Probably because it's the only decent exercise you've ever gotten," Anais pointed out. "Anyway, back to the matter at hand. We're lucky that so far she still thinks you've been kidnapped or whisked away. She has no idea of you being the Dragon Rider."

"Yeah, but I would have thought she would have found me with some ghost magic thing or something," Gumball asked as he turned to E-4. "Got any ideas?"

"It's possible that since you've activated your Dragon Rider abilities for the first time, the magic inside you is protecting you from any outside magic sensing you. Not that it will protect you from true masters or a high level Evacuatur," E-4 answered.

"So then we have nothing to worry about, right?" Gumball asked, as he transformed out of his Dragon Rider armor and back into his normal clothes.

"Maybe, but what if she starts becoming desperate or starts spreading such information to others?" Darwin asked, crossing his arms. "Plus, I hate lying to my girlfriend and everyone else we know that your so-called death is a giant lie."

"Yeah..." Gumball whispered. He took out his phone which showed the screen saver of him and Penny, smiling cheek to cheek, while next to the park fountain. "How's...How's Penny doing?"

"She's finally back in school," Anais said, frowning. "Her friends are trying to help, but she quit the cheerleading team and is eating lunch alone most days. I think she's looking at photos of you two on her phone most of the time."

Dammit, I really really hate this, Gumball thought as his heart felt like kicking him in the face for doing this to his girlfriend. If we ever figure out how to get out of this I'm going to make it up to her...hell, I'll make it up even if the truth gets exposed and she gets angry at me.

You know...we could tell her the truth? Alaska said to him in his mind. Gumball looked up where Alaska was flapping her wings as hard as she could while two large boulders were strapped to her back. I can feel just how much it's hurting you to do this to her. I don't mind telling the truth to her if you want to.

Gumball thought about it, but shook his head. No, it's already a risk with the entire family knowing and Carrie suspecting. I don't want to suddenly risk it. No matter how much I want her to know.

"Kids! Lunch time!" Their mother cried out from a few feet away. Growling at the thought of food, Gumball whistled for Alaska to come down for dinner. Since it was a weekend, Nicole thought it would be best to spend time together while Gumball trained while supporting him as much as possible.

The three teenagers arrived at the picnic sheet with their father already going through his sixth sandwich while Nicole started making more. Alaska landed a few feet away before turning small again to join the rest of the family. Handing her three children, and Alaska, their sandwiches with some potato salad, Nicole looked over to the floating E-4 and asked, "Sorry, E-4. I don't have anything for you since well..."

"Yes, I suppose that, being a floating robot, I am unable to eat organic food," E-4 sighed as his eyelid lowered in despair. "You'd think our advanced society would have come up with something like that."

"Eh, what can you do. I'll have his please!" Richard cried out as he took another sandwich.

"So, how are you kids doing with your training?" Nicole asked.

"Well, they've stopped complaining for the most part," E-4 said which earned him a glare from Gumball and Alaska. "And they still have a lot of work to do, but they are proceeding well with the basics."

"If this is the basics then I hate to see the hard stuff," Gumball groaned. "Just how long will it take before I'm the same strength as a normal Dragon Rider?"

"Most riders start when they are very young. Around six to eight years younger then you are now," E-4 pointed out. "It will take you years, but hopefully experience will-" E-4 then paused as he froze in the air. His eye suddenly made a big red exclamation mark followed by a danger sign. "Warning! Sensors detect Evacuatur activity!"

"What?!" Everyone shouted as fear gripped their faces.

"Another one of those monsters is here?! Where?!" Darwin asked.

"Should we fly over and fight it?!" Alaska asked.

E-4 didn't answer at first, but then his eye returned to normal and he sounded confused. "Huh, that's funny. Now it's gone..."

"Oh, phew! So false alarm, right?" Richard asked, wiping sweat from his brow.

"No, it's still in the Elmore area, but I can't sense it. It must be hiding itself, but where?"

"I didn't even sense anything," Alaska said, scratching her head. "When I sensed the first one, I felt a primal rage and desire to tear it limb from limb. Like I could sense the danger it represented...but I'm feeling nothing right now."

"I take it, that's bad?" Anais asked.

"Very. This one could be at a higher level then the last one. It could have some special abilities or it could be of higher intelligence," E-4 warned.

Gumball bit his lip before looking at his family. "Alright, so we got another Evacuatur alert. We should head home and watch the news."

"Why?" Darwin asked.

"Because if it's going to be just as bad as last time, then we're going to see people missing...or worse..."

Penny had been surprised when Leslie and the girls came to her home for a surprise sleepover, but she supposed it was to be expected. She knew that she had been keeping herself distant from her friends at school, but it was hard to accept that Gumball wouldn't be there to kiss her good morning or do something crazy to make the day interesting. She could still remember the memorial ceremony Principal Brown held for Gumball with everyone laying a flower at the photo of her sweet cat. Well, except Ms. Simian but what else did anyone expect from the bitch?

She smiled as Teri took her turn in charades by manipulating her paper body into the form of an animal, a bird, but the others were trying to guess what it was. Just as Molly was about to say it was a turkey for the third time, Penny cleared her throat and said, "It's a peacock."

"Correct!" Teri said, turning back to her normal form.

"I've always wondered, Teri, does folding up like that ever hurt?" Masami asked, eyebrows raised.

"Nope! Don't feel a thing," Teri replied while spraying her cushion seat with disinfect before sitting on it. "Who wants to go next?"

"Nah! Let's do something else!" Carmen said, with a smile. "We could tell ghost stories, or summon Carrie to do one. We could play Truth or Dare. Or we could talk about boys-" She was suddenly silenced by Molly and Leslie putting their limbs on her mouth only to yelp from the thorns.

"Carmen!" Masami hissed.

"S-sorry," Carmen muttered, lowering her face. "I...I didn't mean to..."

Penny sighed as she saw everyone eyeing her. "Girls, it's fine. You don't need to do that. I...I'm coming to terms with it." She put her knees closer to her chest and sighed. "I miss him. I really do, but mourning for him isn't going to bring him back. I'm...just slowly dealing with it, you know?"

"Well, we're here for you, Penny," Teri said, patting her on the back. "We know how much you two cared about each other."

"Thanks, but we shouldn't stop having fun because of me," Penny said, getting up. "I'm going to get some popcorn. Be right back."

The girls waited until she left the room. Once they were sure, Penny wasn't listening in, they all sighed. "Well, that kinda killed the joy," Leslie muttered.

"Sorry," Carmen apologized again. "Me and my big mouth."

"I really wish there was something we could do," Teri whispered.

"It's not going to go away any time soon, girls," Masami whispered, shaking her head. "I know what she's feeling. That monster also killed my Dad. I'm still finding it hard to move on without him."

"At least its gone for good, thanks to that Dragon Rider," Molly said, before wondering out loud. "Say, who do you think he is anyway? And where did he get that dragon?"

"Yeah, I thought dragons were myths," Leslie said, leaning forward. "I even asked Hector if his mom knew about anything regarding dragons. He did ask, but even she has little to no knowledge of them. Only that they died off years ago to the point where some magic users don't think they even exist anymore."

"Well, I think it's strange that he appears out of nowhere," Teri said, folding her arms. "Plus, he kinda didn't seem like he knew what he was doing half the time based on the videos I saw."

"Yeah, but still this raises more questions," Masami grumbled. "Where had he been all this time when that monster attacked? Why didn't it appear before? And where did he get that dragon? More importantly, where did he go?"

"To the Dragon Cave?" Leslie joked, earning a glare. "Sorry."

"I'm serious, girls," Masami said, glaring at them. "There is more to this story than meets the eye. If this Rider person knew about the monster why didn't he stick around to talk about it? What if there are more out there, waiting to strike? Why didn't he act sooner when people were already dying! Like my father..."

The girls were quiet as Masami took a few breaths. Her voice had echoed a bit down the hall at the end, and none of the girls knew that Penny was outside; listening in with a bowl of popcorn in her hands. Truth was she had questions about the Rider too. Like why couldn't he save Gumball...

"You can't blame the Dragon Rider for your father's death, Masami," Molly pointed out with a small glare. "He did save so many lives and he did avenge the ones that did die. The monster is dead because of him."

"I know...I am grateful, but I still feel like that we're missing something," Masami said, narrowing her eyes. "Like something big is happening and we don't know what it is..."

Penny took this moment to open the door and look at her upset friend. "Masami, I feel the same way." She knelt down and put the popcorn down before gripping her hands. "This monster...it didn't just come out of nowhere...and I worry that there are others like that in the world. Will this Dragon Rider save the day like last time? Can he save the day like last time?" Closing her eyes, she thought back to the fight where she saw the heroic knight fight against the monster. A monster she was too weak to do anything out of fear and despair. "I'm scared. I'm scared of losing someone else I love. I'm scared that I cannot do anything to stop it."

The girls were quiet until Penny looked at them with fire in her eyes. "That's why we have to be strong. Together. Maybe we can't do much for the events to come, but we can work together to at least prepare for it. I don't want to deal with this alone so that the pain I'm feeling returns or affects others. So that's why I want to find out what's happening. So at least we can prepare for it."

The girls nodded as Leslie put his leafy arm out. "All for one?"

One by one the girls put their hands in the middle.

"And one for all."

Just as Gumball suggested, the family did head home and started watching the news to see if there was anything to suggest an Evacuatur had arrived on their world. However, after watching it for five hours, and through dinner, they didn't see anything noteworthy. Everyone had gone to bed save for Gumball, Alaska, and E-4 who continued to watch the news. Since he was technically "dead" in the eyes of society, there was no point in going to bed early for anything.

Ignoring a commercial for an explosive new deodorant (one that actually left off small nuke shaped explosions when it killed BO), Gumball turned to Alaska who was resting by his side with her eyes closed. He smiled as he rubbed her gentle, wondering what she was dreaming.

He then looked at the Dragonizer which had come into his life and began to wonder what would have happened if he had gotten it earlier, along with E-4. Could he have really kept Alaska a secret then? Or trained sooner to prepare for the future? Here I am, a normal kid-well okay not really normal-whose now training to be a savior of the multiverse. If it wasn't for the fact that I could get killed doing this, I'd be pretty into it.

A question then came to Gumball's head which made him turn to E-4 and ask, "Hey, E-4?"

"Yes?" the eyeball robot asked.

"I'm curious...was I always destined to be Alaska's partner? Or was it just because I touched her egg first?" Gumball asked, turning his eyes back to her. "Ever since I got her, she's been such a big focus of my life. I've cared for her. Raised her. Now I can say I fought side by side with her. But...is it just destiny that's made it happen or just luck?"

E-4 was silent for a while, but he eventually answered. "Honestly, Gumball, that's a question no dragon rider can answer. Even after all these years we still don't know how or why dragons and their riders are chosen. There are families of dragon riders out there whose children never became riders or bonded with dragons not connected or related to their parent's dragons. Some argue destiny. Others think it's something genetic. Regardless, I can tell you that despite the truth, I can see that you and Alaska are meant to be together."

"Really?" Gumball asked, smiling.

"Yes," E-4 said with a happy and proud tone. "You both may not have the fighting skills of a proper dragon rider team. But you have something perfected that is just as important: the bond. I don't have to be an all scanning robot to know that the love you two share for each other is strong and true. That may be your advantage in your efforts to defend your world. Never forget it."

Gumball smiled and was about to say something when he saw something on the TV. Quickly, he grabbed the remote and increased the volume as the news anchor, who was literally an anchor, stated, "Authorities are still on the lookout for four missing teenagers, all age sixteen, who have been missing now for about ten hours. This is only the latest in a strange number of disappearances that have been happening around both Elmore and other local areas. Are these connected or not? More news at eleven."
