The night was silent. The only thing breaking it was the sound of footsteps on the concrete floors. Two hours and nothing had been found. Every building that had been searched thoroughly, and there was only so much to go.

"We have to be missing something," Mary muttered.

"It is also possible that Sam was wrong," Cas replied.

"I don't think so. There's just something not right with this picture. Do you have a phone by any chance?"

Castiel took a small device from his pocket and held it out to her. After fiddling around with it for a while, she figured out how to call Sam.

"Cas?" came from the other end of the line after a few rings.

"No, Mary. I was just wondering if you had found anything."

"Not really," Sam replied. "Just empty building, but we don't have a good feeling about whatever this is."

"Same here. It feels like it is just too quiet. There should be people around here, right?" Mary questioned.

"Unless word got out that something weird was going on around here."

"We need to meet and come up with another plan."

Mary and Sam coordinated where they were going to meet as Mary and Castiel walked out of the building and through the streets to meet up with the boys.

"That seemed like a waste," John immediately brought up. "Maybe we shouldn't have listened to them."

Mary, ignoring the man, asked Sam "Were there other areas that looked good for this?"

"There were a couple. Even with those, this is the center of the activity," Sam answered.

"It's possible that she's taking people from her and then leaving," Dean inserted. "And then coming back to get rid of the bodies."

"She would still need to do it in a way that she wouldn't be noticed," Mary said. "I noticed that there are cameras everywhere in this town."

"Driving wouldn't be an option," Sam muttered.

"Her operation could be underground. East to make your way around the city and no one would notice you coming and going from areas."

"In older cities, the sewer systems are either simple or the older ones have been completely decommissioned, and no one goes into them anymore."

"It's worth a try," Mary told them.

The three of them took the lead in trying to an entrance into the sewers. After a couple of minutes, they found a manhole in the center of the street. Sam and Dean both leaned to pick it up before lighting the hole with flashlights.

"Looks like we found a dry one," Dean told the group behind them.

Dean climbed down first quickly followed by Sam. Mary turned to go in next, noticing that the angel was gone. Assuming that he was already underground, Mary climbed down as well, John trailing in the back.

The cavern they were all now standing in was wide and spacious, leaving enough room that they didn't have to walk in a single file line. As the tunnel only went in two directions, the group went in the direction that led toward the center of the district.

Staying quiet, animals were the only ones that were heard. After a while, they could hear the whispering of voices. Coming to a halt, they tried to make out what was being said.

Noticing a slight bit of light coming from around the corner, Sam and Dean turned off their flashlights and readied their weapons. Slowly inching up, the voice from around the corner became clearer.

A young feminine voice was muttering about how she thought she could trust someone. Inching around the corner some more, they could see what looked like a hospital ward. White beds covered the room, most of them were empty besides one in the far corner. A blonde woman was leaning over a smaller girl who was strapped to the bed lying still. As soon as they were in the archway of the room, the woman spoke out loud.

"Well, I was wondering when you people would show up." The woman turned around as she said this. She was an average looking woman with a calculating look as she looked them over. "I wasn't expecting this many of you though."

"Yeah, this is a new thing," Dean said with snark.

"It's no matter to me. I'll deal with you quickly enough."

The woman lifted her hand with a smirk on her face. The group tensed, waiting for something to happen. When nothing did, the woman across the room looked at them with an angry look on her face.

"Seems like you couldn't get it up," Dean said as he walked further into the room.

Sam tried to keep his sigh to himself at his brother's antics.

"How?" the woman screamed at them.

"Well, we had a look at your book," Sam said. "It had a lot of information in it."

"Ahh, so you have my book. If you don't mind, I would like it back."

"Unless you can figure out how to it back from ashes, that's impossible."

Her face twisted in anger. She muttered words under her breath, but as time went on they could see feat slip onto her face as she realized that she was powerless against them.

The hunters were soon surrounding her. "What did you give her?" Mary asked the woman.

"As if I'll tell you anything." The woman looked at the angle cautiously as he walked over the girl tied up. He hovered his hand over the girl's body, and a white light shown out of his hand. "What are you?" the witch asked, fear breaking into her voice.

There was no answer for her except for a groan coming from the table. The woman tried to make a break for it before a gunshot filled the room. The woman fell immediately, and blood pooled under her.

"That's it?" John asked.

"Seems like it," Sam said. "These bullets haven't failed us with other witches."

"I say we keep up with these charms. I've never seen something work so well before," Mary mentioned.

Dean had bad his way to the medical bed where the girl was lying and starting to free her.

"Who are you people?" the girl asked, confused as to who her saviors were. She slowly sat up and looked at the group more closely.

"We're the good guys," Dean replied.

The girl stood up, wobbling on her feet. After taking a few experimental steps, she was able to see the body that was now surrounded by blood. "How could I have been so stupid?" she muttered. "I would like to get out of here if you don't mind."

"Think you can walk by yourself?" Mary asked her.

"I think so."

Mary walked beside her, being a crutch it the girl needed it. The walk back was slightly slower than the one there, but the group was relieved it was over. Over back at the manhole, they allowed the girl out first before following after her.

Once everyone was out of the sewers, the girl turned toward them. Before you say anything. I know I was stupid. I thought she was trying to help, but then I found that book. Looking back on everything, I saw that everything was weird, but I just wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt. Sorry, you had to come to rescue me. Now, you can yell at me."

"Need a ride home?" Sam asked her.

The girl was slightly surprised that the five people in front of her weren't seething in anger at her. Well, one looked especially angry, but he didn't say anything.

"If you don't mind, please."
