I don't own the characters

"Hey, Himawari," Kagome shook the blonde woman. "I need you to wake up"

The other female stirred and looked up at Kagome dazed. Slowly wiping the sleep out of her eyes. Once the blurriness was gone she looked the miko in the eye, wide awake.

"I need you to break the chains."

"Kagome I told you I can't," Himawari shook her head, a look of fear smeared across her face.

"If you don't do it now we won't have another chance."

"No! What if I hurt you?" Himawari cried.

Kagome bent down and gave her a smile before stretching her hands. Placing the chains on her wrists in front of her new friend she spoke. "Look me in the eyes."

The grey eyed female did so.

"I trust you."

Himawari's eyes widened at the honesty and sheer kindness in Kagome's voice. She practically glowed in the dark and dirty dungeon. A smile was unconsciously placed on her lips.

"Alright."

~~~
"Kabuto don't play with me," Sasuke yelled.
Said male stayed quiet. He was still trying to process as to how his prisoner's prediction came true. Stuck in his thoughts he failed to see that the Uchiha started to walk away.
"That's it."
"Sasuke! Wait!" Kabuto ran to catch up with the hot headed teenager. "Where are you going?"
"To Orochimaru! He should be able to tell me where she is, since it seems your too incompetent!"
"Sasuke wai-" But it was too late.
Sasuke had kicked open the door to Orochimaru's throne room.
"Where the hell is Kagome!"
~~~

"This feels so good," sighed Kagome. "Those chains were tight."

She rubbed the purple marks that chains made on her skin softly. She then turned to the bars that restricted their exit and transformed. Her hair turned silver, eyes golden. Silver hair, doggy ears, and a fluffy tail sprouted from her body. After her morphing was complete she took hold of the bars and pulled them away from each other.

The two females then slipped out of the cage. The miko then took hold of the bars once more and bent them back to their original position.

"W-what are you doing?" Himawari asked.

"Just gonna mess around with Kabuto. He'll have no idea how the hell we got out," the miko laughed in response.

As Himawari shook her head Kagome morphed back into her human state. Then taking the grey eyed woman by the hand she dragged her along. Quickly busting through the large metal door they made their way up the stairs and to where the three ninjas were currently at.

~~~
"What do you mean you don't know where Kagome is?!"
"Sasuke, I didn't even know that the girl had come to my lair." Orochimaru hissed sending Kabuto a glare.
"I thought that out of everyone here that you would at least have some control." Sasuke remarked.
"Calm down Sasuke. When was the last time you saw her," the long haired ninja hissed again.
"About 3 days ago. Kabuto told me she had caught a fever," Sasuke said.
"Kabuto apparently your the only one who knows of the girl's whereabouts. Where is she? Tell me now!" Orochimaru glared at the ash haired man.
Before Kabuto could even get a word out the trio heard thumps and heavy breathing coming their way.
"What the hell is that?" The Uchiha murmured.
Then a blur jumped into Sasuke's arms making him stumble at the unexpected impact.
"Kagome?"
"Hey," She looked up and smiled at the teenager. "Did you miss me?"
~~~

"I'm going to kill Kabuto!" Sasuke growled.

"Calm down. Karma is coming and it's coming fast this time." The miko responded. "But now that I'm free let's get out of here." The miko grabbed the Uchiha's hand and started to pull him to the door.

Sasuke pulled his arm away making Kagome turn to him with a confused look. "I'm going to stay here."

Kagome gave him a look that basically asked if he was stupid. "If you stay here you'll die. Orochimaru will take over your body."

"Then we'll have to kill him before he does." Sasuke smirked and turned to the bed before taking a seat. "I know that you want to kill him. You made it very obvious."

Glaring at the other teenager, Kagome, she spoke. "Yes I have to kill him. But not at the cost of your life." She tried to reason with the Uchiha. "What if we are not successful in our assassination and he takes over your body? Then what?"

"That won't happen. He has to train me in order for my body to get stronger. When my training is done he will come for my body and that is when we will kill him." Sasuke pulled the miko onto his lap. "Even if it is unlikely that I will win, I'll have you by my side." He then kissed the girl's wrist.

Closing her eyes in thought, she started to contemplate on what the Uchiha had said. Killing Orochimaru would definitely be easier if she had help. He would weaken by the time Sasuke finished training. Also, Sasuke will be stronger so she wouldn't have to worry about protecting him all the time.

"Alright. Let's do it."

~~~
"Goodnight, Kagome."
"Goodnight, Sasuke," the miko murmured before drifting off to sleep.
"Kagome," a booming voice called out from within the darkness.
"Where am I," said girl called out. "Is that you, Lady Midoriko?"
The ghostified priestess then appeared before Kagome.
"You have failed your mission," she spoke glaring down at the other confused miko.
"How?" Kagome asked. "Sure I may have not done the best job but Naruto and Sasuke are alive. We're all gonna team up and get rid of Orochimaru and the Akatsuki."
"You let the young Uchiha get bitten by the evil sannin, lOrochimaru. You sent the rest of the InuTachi back to the Feudal Era against my will."
"Yeah, well it's not like they can't come back," Kagome rubbed the back of her neck sheepishly.
"You abandoned Naruto Uzumaki."
"No I didn't! The village can protect him! It's not like I can look after Naruto and Sasuke at the same time when they're in two different places." Kagome argues.
"You have failed your mission." Midoriko's voice continued to boom in the endless black void.
"I didn't even get a chance to find the Akatsuki yet. The only person I found was Itachi and he's innocent!"
"You let Sasuke seep into darkness. You left Naruto. You are letting Orochimaru live. You cannot find the Akatsuki," the old miko readied an arrow and pointed it straight at Kagome's heart. "You are useless. You are unfit to be the Shikon Miko. Lady Fate may have let you go but I have not. You were unable to complete one task and now you shall perish."
The dead priestess shot her arrow. With amazing speed the arrow went straight for Kagome's chest. But it was blocked. Bringing down her shield, Kagome glared at Midoriko, tears streaming down her face.
"I never asked for this mission. I never even asked to be the Shikon Miko," Kagome yelled at Midoriko, ignoring the look of surprise and fear on her face. "You didn't even lead me to the Akatsuki . I had to find them all on my own!"
"If you can kill me. Then you could've done this job yourself." Kagome sneered and readied an arrow. "Now you perish like you should have all those centuries ago."
The amethyst eyed miko's arrow glowed brilliantly. Putting all her power into that one shot she looked the dead priestess in the eye. The fear on Midoriko's face almost made her feel bad.
Almost.
"Rest in peace." With that Kaome released her arrow and shot Midoriko in the head.
The old priestess shrieked and yelled in agony as her ghostly body degenerated right before her eyes. Her body glowed like the arrow. Her soul slowly began to become purified once more before finally it was gone.
~~~

"Kagome!"

Said girl jumped up from her sleep, still drowsy.

"You looked like you were having a nightmare." Sasuke said.

"I wouldn't call it a nightmare. I'd say it was a bitter sweet dream." Kagome replied. "Would you like to know what it was about?"

"Enlighten me."

"Well, the bird finally broke free from it's cage. It got its first taste of freedom." Kagome smiled brightly before making her way to the bathroom, leaving behind a confused Sasuke shaking his head.
