Lois takes a pregnancy test [Post-JL].
After a long time of thinking I was going to do an entire separate fic for a Clois pregnancy, I've finally given up. Especially now that the Snyder Cut of Justice League is coming out in 2021, I'm running short on time for speculations.
P.S. I love Zack, but if the rumors are true, and he makes them name their baby Bruce, I will seriously lose my shit.
Surprise!
Lois stared at the shelf of pregnancy tests. She didn't know which one to pick. Which was the most reliable? What if the result was a fluke? She grabbed one and stared at it for a few seconds before grabbing two other brands.
After paying for her items, she headed straight home. The apartment was empty. Clark was out with the League. She went to the bathroom and unboxed all the tests. When she was done peeing, she lined them up on the sink, washed her hands, and paced the room.
She doubted that Clark had suspicions yet. Her only main symptom was a late period. Besides that, she'd been having mild cramps occasionally, and she felt a little more tired than usual. She didn't want to tell him until she was sure. She knew what his reaction would be. Overwhelming happiness, quickly followed by anxiety and overprotectiveness. As much as they discussed having a family, he was always one to worry, especially over her safety.
As she came around to the sink for the umpteenth time and looked down, her heart leapt. Two of the tests were done. One read "pregnant." The other had a red plus, which she was pretty sure meant the same. She read the box instructions to make sure. She reigned in her elation until the third one finished. After all, there was a 1% margin of error.
Only thirty seconds passed before the little screen changed to show a plus symbol. She leaned against the sink and stared down at it. Then, she sighed and grinned up at her reflection in the mirror.

She couldn't keep her face straight when he flew into the bedroom. She was already sitting up in bed.
"What are you smiling about?" he asked.
"Nothing much," she said coyly.
He raised an eyebrow and started peeling off the suit. "C'mon, what's up? Is it a surprise?"
"Oh, it's a hell of a surprise."
"The suspense is killing me."
He was already in his pajamas. She was planning to make him guess, but she couldn't hold in her excitement anymore.
She jumped up onto her knees and blurted, "I'm pregnant!"
He stared at her in shock.
"Really?" he murmured, eyes on her belly.
"Yes," she said breathlessly, "I took three tests, and they all said the same thing."
"You're really pregnant?"
A smile was pulling at the corners of his lips now. It broke into a dazzling grin, and he scooped her into his arms and spun her around. She felt kind of silly, giggling like a character in a romance movie, but she couldn't help it. He set her on the ground and leaned back to look at her. She beamed up at him, and he kissed her.
"Lo?" he said at last, in a mellow voice.
"Yes?"
"Do you think it'll be safe?" He quickly continued, "I'm sorry for ruining the moment. I don't want you to think I'm not happy. This is the happiest moment of my life. I've always wanted this with you."
"I get it," she said and caressed his cheek, "It's not like there's a manual for What to Expect When You're Expecting a Half-alien Baby. I'm willing to take the risk. We have the data files from the scout ship. But, remember, this baby is human, too. Everything might be totally normal."
He nodded and grinned again. "We're gonna have a baby."
"Congratulations to us."
"Thank you," he said as he kissed her again.
It was hard to keep their lips locked when they were both smiling so much.
"Who are you thanking?" she murmured, "It's for me, too."
"You're amazing."
"Ok, I can't argue with that."
Thanks for reading! Comments are greatly appreciated, as always.
