AN/ Hello! Today was the last new episode of GH. I really hope this story helps your upcoming and lengthy drought.
Also I'm apologizing in advance. I am NOT a medical professional by ANY means. Most of my medical knowledge is from GH itself. Some things might no be 100% medically correct. Tried my best, if not pretend it does.
I did some research so. I hope that helped it work.
Also this is a tiny bit shorter than usual. Just worked out that way, but don't worry as always I plan to post often. Maybe in the next few days i'll be able to post twice in a day even.
Please review :)
-AN end-
Nikolas doesn't wait to be dismissed. Chas doesn't try to stop him. It was an unspoken agreement nobody would ever try and disagree with. Nik needed to be elsewhere. In this case that meant talking with the doctor.
He'd normally wanna be alone. Liz was a nurse though, she'd understand what he couldn't and make it make sense. So when she led him to the doctor by the hand he didn't let go, a sign of needing her.
He also knew Franco and Julian- who he saw had managed to get here- would want to know what's going on as people who truly cared for her. There weren't too many, but they were here, which showed the quality of friends of quantity.
"Hi," The doctor spoke, a familiar face. It was Lucas, or in this case Dr. Jones the trauma surgeon. Nikolas wondered why Liz didn't say it was him, maybe not wanting to waste any time? Probably. "I'm sorry that this happened and I-"
Nikolas didn't dislike Lucas, but nobody was going to stop him from having a small fit as his anxiety and impatience finally came to a boil. "Please cut the whole sympathy speech, and for the moment skip the details, I need to know if she's alive!"
Lucas was used to hysterical outburst from people. He however wasn't expecting this from Nikolas. His aunt and him weren't close, but he as everyone thought the marriage was fake. Maybe they were friends despite it all?
"Yeah, for the time being she's alive." Lucas stated keeping his calm and hoping that Nikolas could keep calmer now he had taken the worry off his shoulders.
She's alive. Those words a sweet symphony to Nikolas, the first good thing he's heard in a while. The first thing that makes him feel any ounce of calm. Then the rest hits him. Still a thousand times more relived from when his mind filled with images of her dead, wonder what that means.
"What does that mean?" He asks seriously, feeling Liz stoking his arm as a way of showing she was here and supportive, and that this was good news they could get through. She couldn't know it was good news, but she knew it was better than the news of her passing.
"Ava's stab wound, it caused a lot of bleeding." Lucas begins to explain. "The jacket I assume Liz tied was able to use to help stop the bleeding definitely helped a lot. With the timing and all had it not been done, Ava would have bleed out before the paramedics even got to her."
Nikolas squeezes the hand he still clung to as a silent thank you, no time to stop Lucas to do so, this would have to do. She would know what he means, know that he owes her the world now. She saved Ava. A woman she didn't always like. He knew Liz by no means hated Ava though, and as a nurse would never want anyone dead. Liz was just the type of person that you could always count on, and he was so lucky she chose to forgive him.
"We were able to treat and suture up the stab wound after cleaning it to hopefully avoid any infection, we have no idea what she was stabbed with so we have no idea what entered her system from that or other things."
Good news. This is all good news. Nikolas can breathe again.
"She still lost a lot of blood, too much." Lucas continued. When we finally got her into surgery her body was in shock. We started pumping blood into her just in time as she went into shock from the lack of blood in her body. Pretty much as soon as we noticed symptoms of brain ischemia we were supplying her with blood. The lapse of time without oxygen to the brain were mere seconds, luckily. Enough for us to be able to save her."
"Thank goodness." Liz softly speaks, more to herself than anyone else.
"Were still gonna eventually preform a brain scan to make sure there was no tissue damage. In cases of longer time there usually is, but we are confident it's unlikely, and if so then i'd be minimal." Lucas says to them. "But we don't need to get ahead of ourselves, as I said we are confident in it. But the problem is that even a few seconds can cause other problems."
"Like what?" Nik demands.
"Ava's in a coma."
