The thing about life is that things always took a turn for the worse, it wasn't necessarily Peter this time it was more Carla, she had another scare, she was bleeding and she was convinced that she was losing her daughter, the stress of Peter being in a hospital and not with her, the stress of the world around her made her daughter struck her down with another bout of realisation that it was time to start looking after herself. She was released from hospital after a couple of weeks stay on the maternity ward to monitor her baby, she had numerous visits from Michelle, Frank and Maria all trying to support her and telling her information about Peter whilst she nursed herself up to full health again. She was finally able to go home today and that was something which she was thankful for, she begged Michelle to take her to Peter but Michelle said no as Carla needed to rest as she had been forced on another two weeks of bed rest at home.

"Come on into bed" Michelle sighs, Carla, rolls her eyes dramatically sliding into bed "Do you want anything to eat?"

"Hmm," she hums "Is there any barbeque sauce?"

"You just want a bottle of barbeque sauce?" Michelle questions pulling a face, Carla bites her lip "You're weird you are"

"No" she defends herself "Speak to the baby not me if you want to know about my food habits"

"Yeah I'll have words with her when she comes out the womb" Michelle chuckles, Carla looks sad all of a sudden "Oh Carla"

"Sorry" she sniffles "It's just everything which had happened the last two weeks, it's just I miss Peter I want him to be ok but when I think about Peter I get stressed then it affects her" she rubs her bump, Michelle sighs slightly "I don't know what to do for the best"

"Oh love" Michelle bites her lip "She's ok now though isn't she? You hear the midwife, you just have to take it easy"

"I know and I will" she sighs slightly before smiling "It would just be different if Peter was here, it's not the same, I just want to see him and hold his hand and tell him everything will be ok"

"I know but he's getting better, slowly, it's just going to take time" Michelle smiles, Carla nods defeatedly

"I just worry, I'm giving birth in almost three months time and he's still in a coma, he's going to have to learn how to walk again"

"I know" Michelle doesn't know what to say to make her feel better "Why don't I get you some food, with barbeque sauce and you can get some sleep in your own bed which will probably do you both the world of good?"

"Yeah ok" Carla nods watching her friend leave the room, she sighs picking up the ultrasound photo which was in a frame on the bedside table, she traces one of her fingers around the profile of her baby just wishing she could have an easy pregnancy for once…

She slept and that was ok because she was tired even though she had spent three-quarters of her life the last two weeks on a bed and sleeping. She was thankful for her pregnancy pillow though which lulled her into calmer serenities. Michelle left her to it saying she would be back later to check on her, Carla was watching TV and she couldn't describe how bored she was, she managed to have a shower to rid of the clinical smell off her body, her hair was wrapped up in a towel and she was lounging out on the sofa, she was soon interrupted by the buzzer. It was Frank so she let him up.

"Michelle didn't send you did she?" Carla sighs sitting back down on the sofa, Frank just rolls his eyes handing her a paper bag "What is this Frank?"

"That is what you call a takeaway, they are sometimes called takeout in America and most of all-"

"I get the idea" she smirks taking the polystyrene container and opening it "A kebab?"

"Is that too masculine for you?"

"No" she whimpers, Frank pulls a face watching the tears trail down her face "It's just so nice, you put barbeque sauce on it and…yeah it's just sad"

"Why are you crying though?"

"Because of the sauce, I love the sauce she loves the sauce" she whimpers eating her kebab "Are you staying?"

"I can go if you want?" he offers, she shakes her head, he smirks

"I've been so lonely in hospital it'll be nice to have some human company other than the nurses checking the baby's heart rate, my heart rate, her movements"

"Well I promise you I won't talk about the factory for the time I'm here if that helps?" he suggests she grins slightly eating her kebab like a ravenous animal "You need to slow down on that kebab, Carla"

"Dont tell me what to do" she snaps, he raises his eyebrows "Sorry it's just yeah you're right I'll probably get really bad heartburn after"

"So how has your new lease of life been going?"

"I'd hardly call it that" she scoffs "I'm getting there, we're getting there it's just been difficult being bed-bound but I guess she keeps me company, all the same, it's not the same without Peter either"

"I guess so" he smiles glancing to her hand where he noticed the engagement ring "That's a nice ring"

"Yeah it's the engagement ring Peter used to propose with" she smiles glancing down to the ring "I guess I just think that if the worse happens I know he was committed to me even if I didn't want to marry him"

"Do you want to now?"

"I dont know really" she admits because she was very unsure "Maybe I do now I dont know but I know I want to have the baby first because even if Peter was going to make a miraculous recovery I dont want to be looking like a whale on my wedding day"

"You won't look like a whale, you're carrying a baby" Frank chuckles, Carla just playfully rolls her eyes finished off her kebab "That soon went"

"Well we were hungry" she shrugs placing the rubbish in the bag "So how are you and Leanne, I bet she isn't happy with you being here?"

"What she doesn't know won't hurt her" he smirks, Carla raises her eyebrows

"Great way to start off a relationship Franky" she giggles, Frank just laughs slightly

"You can't exactly stand on your high horse" he shoots back, she raises her hands either side of her head in defence "I'm glad you're ok, really"

"Yeah I'm more worried about this little lady in here" she pats her bump "She'll be fine though, her mother just needs to chill"

"I'll second that and dont you worry the factory is in good hands with me and Michelle"

"Yeah you've actually had your uses" she grins, Frank chuckles passing her a glass of water, she frowns looking up at him

"You need to keep hydrated" he states, she just rolls her eyes sipping on the water "Do you want anything else whilst I'm here?"

"Umm" she hums before shrugging "No I dont think so, this water will do me fine ta"

"Alright then I'll leave you to it" Frank smiles, Carla turns to him and nods "I'll see you when I see you"

"Alright bye Frank!" she grins watching him leave the flat, she sighs again and glances to the ring which made her smile, only if Peter was here then things would be different

She managed to get herself off to bed that night, she was curled up in her pregnancy pillow unable to sleep due to her daughter being a pain and moving which made her irritable. She reached the end of her tether and decided she would just stay up as being in an upright position seemed to settle her. She clicked the TV on and ended up watching teleshopping channels and drooling over shoes and other various items of clothing until the early hours of the morning until the phone rang which brought her out of her thoughts, she picked it up and answered the call. The tears soon started to fall, but they were happy tears, Peter was finally out of his coma...
