Forks, Washington.
A couple months after the Cullens had left Forks, they had moved back after Edward had attempted to kill himself believing that Bella was dead - no thanks to Rosalie. Emmett had told Rose that what she had done was not right and that they almost lost a brother as a result of it, Rosalie tried to explain that she didn't have bad intentions when she told him about Alice's vision of Bella jumping off the cliffs, just that she felt he had a right to know and hoped he would return home to them to move on. Emmett quickly forgave her, especially when he saw how guilty she felt over it, and the family moved back to Forks. That same night Bella had gathered them around to vote on whether or not they would want her to join their vampire coven, with only Rosalie and Edward voting no. Rose wasn't so impressed with Emmett not siding with her but respected his choice and said nothing, she felt for her brother though, she could see the pain on his face that his family aside from her had voted this life for Bella, he knew only Rosalie would truly understand his reasons - thus making them a lot closer.
Life had gotten back to normal pretty quickly for the Cullens, Jasper continued his studies in Forks but this time online, whilst Emmett and Rosalie decided to just enjoy life for now rather than focusing on another college degree, which meant occasionally living away from the family for some time, although not far enough that they couldn't see them everyday - if anything this time had made them all realize they needed each other more than anything.
Alice had sensed that Victoria was hunting in their area and so the Cullens had gone to their woodlands to hunt her and try and stop her before she brought any pain to their family or Bella. In the second Alice directed them of Victoria's whereabouts, the family had sped off quickly catching up to her. Although Emmett was not the fastest, his strength in his legs and strides forced him to go faster and with his determination motivating him more he was only focused on one thing - catching Victoria. He almost had her though, at one point he grabbed her and she had launched him straight into a tree, Emmett grunted at the force and fell to the floor, this pissed Rosalie off and she began to get faster, however, Emmett had quickly stood back up and began running once more. When she had jumped over to the Quileute territory, they grew concerned that they wouldn't catch her, "She'll get away!" Esme yelled as they ran on the opposite side, "No she won't!" Jasper yelled back, keeping an eye on her as they ran too. Eventually Victoria had crossed back over onto their territory and Jasper almost had her, but she got lucky and escaped causing him to fall to the floor. This was pissing Emmett off and his determination took over, almost flying past his family with his speed, Rosalie tried her best to keep up with him, she had seen that Victoria had once more crossed over to the wolve's territory, but seeing Emmett's determination concerned her. "Emmett no!" She yelled out knowing her husband's intentions, but Emmett didn't listen and jumped across - or at least attempted too, he wasn't even in wolf territory before Paul in his wolf form had snatched Emmett mid air launching him into the water, this infuriated Emmett who stood back up soaking and standing defensive towards Paul. Whilst the other Cullen's stopped, this caused interaction caused quite the reaction from Rosalie, she would defend her mate no matter what, jumping into the water herself, knowing that they weren't in Quileute territory, she defensively stood in front of Emmett, projective, strong, "Back off dog!" She hissed at Paul who growled at her and attempted a step forward, Rose did not flinch or back down, but Paul's movements made Emmett slightly step in front of Rosalie to protect her. As the three of them stood protectively over their mates and their land, it almost broke out into a fight - breaking the treaty, but Carlisle and Jasper jumped down and broke it up, "I think it is best we go." Carlisle said, taking Rosalie's arm, who didn't take her eyes off Paul, he led her back to the other women whilst Jasper pushed Emmett back to make him leave before something terrible happened.
Emmett had gone straight into the shower, to clean up from the dirty stream water, despite the temperature not affecting his body temp, he could feel the heat, just like he could feel the cold, it just didn't change his body temperature which remained - dead. He relaxed under the water, letting it run down his body and over his face, cooling off from his run in with Paul, before feeling hands come around him, resting on his chest he smiled softly turning in her arms, seeing a naked Rosalie joining him, the water soaking her hair - she was so beautiful. "Hey." He said softly, moving his hands to her lower back as her body pressed against his, "Hey." She said with a smile, "Thanks for defending me." He teased, he hated the idea of needing to be defended, it hurt his strength, his pride but he knew that his wife would always have his back, just like he would have hers, "Always." She said with a smile, "We could have got her...if that mutt hadn't gotten in the way." She spat slightly, obviously no surprise that Rosalie hated the wolves too. Emmett looked at her, "Don't worry about it, it's done now and we'll get her next time." he said with a grin, before pushing her against the wall, "Hmmmmm." Was all Rose could say as Emmett took a little control over their naked shower situation.
After their steamy shower session, they had cleaned up and headed downstairs when they heard Carlisle talking with Bella and Edward. The Rest of the Cullens had gathered around to listen, "I can't believe you almost had her." Edward said a little frustrated that his family hadn't caught her, because he knew it meant Bella's life was still at risk. Rosalie arched her eyebrow, "Well we could have had her if your little dog friends didn't intervene." Rosalie spat, looking to Bella not appreciating Edward's attitude towards their efforts. "It was just a misunderstanding, I will settle it with the packs in the morning." Carlisle said simply, "Bella's life is at risk, we can't let silly rivalries get in the way." Edward said protective over his girlfriend, Rosalie folded her arms and looked to him, "Well where were you when we were out risking our lives to protect hers?!" Rosalie asked frustrated, "A little thank you wouldn't hurt!" She added, Edward just sent her a look as if to tell her to 'piss off' which made her roll her eyes, Emmett moved his hand to her lower back, "She has a point Edward." Emmett said defending his wife, whilst Edward was with Bella they were out putting themselves at risk, and whilst he loved the thrill of it, to not seem appreciated for it was a little bit of a kick in the teeth. "I really appreciate everything you do.." Bella said to Rosalie, Rose just smirked and took a step forward, "Just tell your mutts to mind their own business next time, and if they dare sink their teeth into Emmett again I will-" Rosalie threatened but Esme cut her off, "Rose, enough!" Esme said, Rosalie looked to her before rolling her eyes and giving Bella one last look, then to Edward, shoving passed him and heading out onto the balcony. Carlisle sent Bella a reassuring nod to remind her of their conversation at her birthday.
As the night progressed, Rosalie had stayed in her room reading her books or writing her diary, not really wanting to be around Bella - or any of them expect Emmett. Emmett was downstairs with Jasper just discussing a few things when Bella had come over, "Hey Emmett..can I talk to you for a second?" She asked, shoving her hands in her back pockets, Emmett looked up and nodded before getting up and walking into one of the offices so they could talk privately. "What's up Swan?" he asked playfully, leaning down on the desk folding his arms. "It's Rosalie actually, I know she's mad at me for what happened...I just.." Emmett cut her off before she could finish, "Don't worry about Rose." He said with a soft smile, "Well I do...I want a friendship with her, if I'm going to be a part of this family. Everyone just seems to defend her and I don't know what to do...or how to act...what to say." She said honestly, Emmett just sighed with a slight laugh, "Okay first of all...they don't always defend her, and second of all, she's my wife, I love her, she saved my life. So, I'm always going to be on her side, I'll always protect her, defend her...but I do tell her Bella, when she's out of order, I tell her. I just do it behind closed doors." Emmett reassured her, Bella nodded, "I get that, I do...I just...I guess I don't know what more I can do." She said with a shrug, Emmett looked at her, "She's not all that bad Bella, really. She's just super intimidating because she cares, I mean even after 72 years she still scares the shit out of me." He laughed softly, "She's difficult, I know...but the more you're around the more she'll let you in, it'll take time for sure, but she has a good heart and you'll see that she's not this terrible human everyone thinks she is." Emmett said softly, Bella just nodded swallowing hard, "Put it this way, If Rose didn't care she would have not defended you so much - as much as she denies that she did it for you, if she really hated you, she wouldn't have done what she's done." Emmett added once more, Bella nodded fixing her hair. "Yeah, I guess so." She said softly with a small nod, "What do you mean she saved you?" Bella asked, curious. Emmet leaned his hands down on the table and swallowed slightly, "In 1935, Rosalie was hunting in the mountains in Tennessee, where I lived. I was hunting too, I needed to provide food for my family, but a black bear had taken me by surprise and just went in on me. I mean, he literally tore me to shreds, thought I was going to die. Rose had smelt the blood and somehow, I don't know where she found the strength, but she resisted the urge to feed from me, fought off the bear and carried me over 100 miles to Carlisle. He turned me and she was by my side through the entire process, helped me through it and I've never wanted to spend a minute without her since...she's the best thing that ever happened to me Bella, I owe her everything." Emmett admitted, Bella smiled softly. "I can see how much you both love each other. I admire it." She said softly, Emmett smiled at her, "Couldn't imagine a life without her." He said standing tall, "But like I said, don't worry about her. I've got it, and I don't mind the wrath of Rose for you, when I tell her she's being a bitch." he joked nudging her playfully, "She just needs time." He added, Bella nodded, "Thanks Emmett." She said with a smile walking out with him, "No problem." He said with a smile before they parted ways.
