HEY, Y'ALL! So... Wizards has taken over my life and I had so many ideas after it that I had to flush those out before heading back to this story. LIKE HOLY SHIT that was good.
Oh, also, it has been about three or so years since I've studied Spanish in high school so if I'm a bit rusty or what I state doesn't make sense, I'm sorry in advance. I kind of refuse to use google translate because that bitch be crazy sometimes, not gonna lie. Just so you know, the idea I had with Miss. Janeth having Jim jog in place reciting his lines actually came from when my director in high school had us do that if we missed too many rehearsals near the end of the production lol.
Anyway, I hope y'all enjoy this long-ass update!
"So. What's the plan?"
"To be honest? I have no clue." I chuckled at myself as I closed my locker with an anxious smile. "Doesn't help I still have lines to memorize for the play."
"Oh yeah, that's the end of this month, right?" I nodded my head as I scratched the back of my neck.
"Yeah. I almost forgot with the adventure we had last night." I held my history book tight in my left hand as my right one laid back down to my side. "Wait, wasn't there something that Blink gave us to help with the situation?" Tobes nodded his head as he rummaged through his bag that he dropped it to the floor for a quick second. He pulled out what looked like a horseshoe out, but I knew better from what Blinky explained last night.
"This is a Gaggletack. This is used to force a changeling into their real form." Blinky placed it into my extended hands, making sure I had a grip on it before letting it go. "Now, be very careful with this totem. It's rather rare due to how they are usually destroyed once a changeling finds them." I eyed what was basically a stone horseshoe as I twisted it around in my hand.
"How does it work?"
"To be blunt, Master Jim, I have never used it personally. I believe if you touch the changeling with it, it'll force the changeling into their real form." I nodded my head as I handed it over to Toby to keep it safe.
"Oh! I also found this when we were out last night." He put the totem back into his bag as he pulled out a small stuffed bunny. "I have no clue what it's about or anything. Have any idea?" I took the bunny from his hand and weighed it within my own.
"I have no clue. Probably from whatever," I looked back and forth in the area before whispering towards Toby due to the small number of people around us. "Victim the goblin brought there." I looked at it once more as I realized it had some age to it. "Maybe we should figure out who it's supposed to be? It could lead us in the right direction." I handed it back to Toby so he could place it back into his bag. "Whose ever it is, we got to figure it out. Whoever else is behind this could be anyone. We need to be careful." Toby gave me a determined nod.
"You got it, Jimbo. Let's find some changelings."
Most of the school day passed by with ease as we tried to compile a list of as many possible members of the Janus Order as we could. I tried my best to remember as many figures as I could that were there beside Strickler and Nomura, but it was rather hard when I couldn't see anyone's face when I was eavesdropping on the crowd.
Well, it's not really eavesdropping is it when you can't hear anything.
I pushed my locker shut with a sigh as Toby and I grouped up once more after having quite a stressful history class since we knew of our teacher's secret. With me trying to remember anyone else that seemed familiar in the crowd I saw, Toby took it upon himself to try to figure anything out about a missing child.
"Well, I can say without a doubt that trying to figure out who I saw based on their figure on clothing is a lot more difficult than I thought it would be." I rubbed the back of my neck as I looked at the small list I had compiled throughout classes. Still, only two names were for certain with stars next to them as the rest were questionable beyond belief.
"I still think Dr. Muelas is one, but whatever you say, Jimbo." I rolled my eyes at the idea as we walked to our next class.
"I don't remember seeing him. Or well, what I could guess was him." I shoved the paper into my jeans pocket as I spoke again. "What about you? Any updates on your end?"
"To be honest? I have nothing. Either no one is missing anything or I'm just not listening enough." I sighed as put a hand through my hair.
No leads. No ideas. Nothing. Just wonderful.
When I put my gaze forward once more, I was welcomed to the sight of a small group of girls together huddling around someone. It looked as if they were trying to console the person in the center. Without a second to reconsider, I found myself going over to the group to try to see what was going on. Seeming to read my mind on the idea, Toby joined along. With closer inspection, I knew some of the girls by name. Mary, Darci, and Shannon were the ones I knew well off the bat.
But once I got close enough, I realized that the girl in the center of the group was not other than Claire.
"I'm sure he'll show up at some point. Just gotta have a bit of hope, C-Bomb." It was obvious by how Claire wrapped her arms around herself that she wanted to believe Darci's words, but wouldn't allow herself to.
"He's been missing since this morning and even though mamá insisted on me going to school today, I know she's just as worried as I am due to how she took the day off of work." I watched with a heavy heart as I saw her sigh as she closed her eyes. "I just wish she would let me help instead of having to act like everything is okay. He's my hermanito. I should be out there helping them. I feel terrible going through the day is if nothing happened." I looked over to Toby with an extended hand, as if knowing what I was thinking, he dug out the small stuffed rabbit he found outside the museum and gave it to me. I looked over to Claire once more, not really knowing what to say but knowing I had to say something with the knowledge I knew. So I placed the stuffed animal behind me as my mind decided to speak on its own accord.
"Sorry to interrupt," All of the small group looked over to me instantly as if I had shattered glass to gain their attention. "I heard what you were saying about your brother and I wanted to say I'm sorry for what you're going through." Claire gave me a soft smile as she lowered her arms a little from the small hug she was giving herself.
"Thanks, Jim. It means a lot." I smiled as I noticed I made a small improvement in her mood, deciding to continue with my half thought out idea.
"I also wanted to ask if this belonged to your brother possibly." I held out the small stuffed animal towards her as I rubbed the back of my neck with my free hand. "Toby and I found it on our way to school and we were going to drop it off at the police station later." Her eyes went wide as she almost shot up off the bench she was sitting on.
"Snoozy Snooze! That's the bunny I gave him when he was born." She took it out of my hand as if it was glass, delicately weighing it in her hands as I brought mine back down to my side. She looked up to me with a soft look as it was obvious in the corner of her eyes that she near her emotional limit for the day. "Thank you." I gave her an honest smile as I put my hands in my pockets.
"It's no big deal. Just happy I found who it belonged to before having to drop it off at the station. Would have hated if it had gotten lost in translation. Right Tobes?" I looked over to my friend as he gave a wide smile in response.
"Hey! Would have been a bummer." Claire looked between us with a happy smile as she took the plush in her arms.
"Well, thank you. To the both of you. Maybe they could use this is to figure out where he went. Where did you say you found it?" I looked over to Toby, trying my best to stay calm as my mind was freaking out trying to come up with a reasonable answer.
"Where did you first spot it, Tobes?" Instantly catching up with my loss for an answer, Toby perked up as he rattled off his own reasoning.
"Oh! It was over by the empty canal! It was rather weird, to be honest. Didn't think it was anything at first until I took a double-take." I looked over to Claire with a smile as it seemed that she took it as the truth.
Another lie to the list. Thank God she took it though.
"I'll text that to my mom. She should still be with the officers on the search."
"Perfect idea." The bell rang, signaling for us to start scurrying off to class. I took the moment to give Claire a sincere look before speaking once more. "If it means anything, I'm sure everything will be alright." This pulled a wide smile from her as she pulled the plush close to her chest.
"With your help, it might just be."
"Okay. So Claire's brother is the one that was kidnapped by the Janus Order." I sighed as I leaned against the island in Blinky's library. The training him and AAARRRGGHH put me through had nearly brought my body to the point of exhaustion. It didn't help that I was already tired as it was after play practice today.
Miss one rehearsal during the last few weeks of production and Miss Janeth loses her mind to the point you have to prove you know your lines by reciting them while running in place.
I sighed at the memory as I placed my hands on the counter behind me.
I won't say I didn't deserve it, but it didn't help with the fact I already had to deal with PE and Trollhunter training every day, to begin with. Add in running in place on stage under stage lights while reciting the "O, she doth teach the torches to burn bright! It seems she hangs upon the cheek of night!" lines were pushing me near my body's limit.
"More than likely." I closed my eyes as I took in a deep breath before releasing it slowly.
Dear whoever the fuck is in charge of my life story: Why bring her into this? It's bad enough I worry for Toby's well being, I don't want to worry for Claire's as well.
"Should we double-check in some way?" I looked over to Toby only to be welcomed with his 'Seriously? And I'm the stupid one?' look on his face.
"How? Breaking into her house when we don't even know if the changeling replacement is there?" I shrugged.
"You have a better idea?" Toby sighed as he walked up beside me, leaning up against the counter as well.
"To be honest, not a single one." He crossed his arms over his chest as it was obvious he was pondering on the idea. "I guess we could do that. Dress up in baggy clothing. Have you sneak in once we know the Not-Nuñez is there. Tap him with the Gaggletack, see if he changes, and then get the hell out of there." I took in a deep breath once more, letting it go slowly as I leaned my head back.
Dear whoever the fuck is in charge of my life story part two: Why do you do this to me?
"I guess we can do that. Unless a better opportunity arrives."
"Well, if you could somehow babysit for the kid at some point, maybe. But even then, do we even know how a changeling would react if they knew someone was up to them? Could be a shit show if you ask me." I nodded at the idea.
True. We have never dealt with an actual changeling yet. We have little to no clue how they react or even what else they do with their lives besides the whole 'Free Gunmar' thing. They could be territorial. They could be aggressive. We already know that older changelings are deadly, but a brand new one? It's like a Joker in a card deck. Anything could happen.
"So. Wait till we hear that her 'brother'," I used arm quotes respectively as I continued. "Is safe and sound. Then we sneak on through, find out if it's true, then we're in the clear."
"Hopefully. This is a council woman's house who had just had her kid kidnapped. They could have security measures." I looked over to Tobes for a second before pulling myself away from the counter.
"Let's hope it's too soon for that. If not, I need to cover up as much as possible."
"How are we supposed to know where to go?" I shrugged to Toby as we walked towards the gym after school the next day. My mind was rather perplexed as I was flipping through the massive math packet I had due on Monday.
"Never been there before." I knew exactly what he was talking about. We have both been aware of Claire's brother returning home without a scratch the night before.
"It was rather weird, to be honest." Claire gave me a wide smile as she held her history book close to her chest. She was on her way to class when we realized we were not too far ahead of her when she decided to let us know the update on her brother. "There was a knock on the door around seven and when we opened it, there he was. All wrapped up in a basket of some kind." She looked off into the distance for a moment, as if she was contemplating something before looking back towards me and Toby. "I keep thinking of why they would have just dropped him off like that, but as my mother said, nunca es bueno mirar a un caballo dotado en la boca." I nodded, knowing enough Spanish to understand the old saying she was referring to. She put a hand to my arm as a softer look danced across her face. Instantly, a burning feeling could be felt against my skin from the crystal that was desperately screaming out what I already knew I was feeling. "But thank you for bringing me what you found. It gave me a lot of hope that I definitely needed." She looked over to Toby with the same small grin that was on her face as she retracted her hand from me.
I felt a delicate half-smile place itself on my face at the memory from earlier within the day. The crystal once more warmed at the thought as I stopped right in front of the gym doors.
"To be honest, I have a little bit more worries about this algebra packet than anything." I waved the thick packet lightly. "I think Miss. Janeth is trying to teach me a lesson from missing that rehearsal the other day. Mix this in with the jogging she had me do and you might have to be at my funeral next week." I laughed a little as Toby tried his best to stifle a small snort that came out of him. I felt a small tap on my shoulder which caused me to turn my head to my left to be greeted by a Claire holding the straps of her backpack after retracting her hand once more.
"You know, I could help you with that so no one would need to write you an obituary. I did take honors algebra last year so I have already been through the torture." She gave me a playful smirk as kept her hands holding the straps of her backpack still. I felt the crystal warm once more as it was obvious it was changing colors in its hideaway under my shirt and jacket. I rubbed the back of my neck as I gave Claire what I was hoping was an easy smile.
"Oh, I don't want to be a bother or anything. Especially with what you went through recently."
"It's not a problem at all. To be honest, it'll make everything feel a little bit more normal." She crossed her arms over her chest with a smile. "Also, I wouldn't take a no for an answer after how you and Toby helped me out."
"Yeah, I think you're stuck with that one, Jimbo." I rolled my eyes jokingly to Toby as he gave me a knowing look.
I know what he's saying in his head. "One: You want to. Two: You need to. Just accept it fam."
"Well, I would appreciate the help." I turned to Claire, feeling a lopsided grin on my face. "When should we suffer?"
"I can after rehearsal today if you want?" My smile deepened at the idea.
"Sure thing. My mom has a late-night shift anyway so I can stay out a bit longer than normal. Might as well put it to good use." Claire smiled at my answer.
"Perfect! I came on my bike today so we can ride together there." She looked at her phone for a second before looking back up. "I need to go put some props together that Miss. Janeth wants me to section out. I'll see you in there." She gave me a wave with her right hand then she gave one to Toby. "Thanks for backing me up, Toby." With that, she slipped into the gym without a second word. I gave Toby a jokingly annoyed look as he had a cheeky grin on his face.
"What? It's two birds with one stone."
"At what? The expense of my embarrassment?" He slugged me lightly in my arm before placing his hands in his pockets.
"You act like I didn't just help you get some one-on-one time with your dream girl." I rolled my eyes once more with a sincere smile hanging off my lips.
"Whatever you say, Tobes." I looked towards the gym doors that Claire had just gone through before looking back towards him. "Guess I should get ready. Talk to you later?"
"Oh you better, buddy! You gotta tell me how everything goes!" I laughed a little at his response as I opened the gym door and walked on over to the stage like I have multiple times before.
At least one thing can be said, Toby has never changed through all of this and I'm beyond grateful for it.
The rehearsal was done before I knew it and as we wrapped up everything, I found Claire by my side who was slipping her script she kept backstage into her backpack.
"Ready for our adventure?" I felt my lips turn up at her question as I placed my bag's strap over my shoulder.
"Definitely. Thanks again for the help, by the way." We started walking out of the gymnasium side by side as we headed towards the bike racks.
"It's no big deal, seriously." She gave me a side glance as we walked together. I could tell by the corner of her lip curving up that she had a smile on her face. "I want to help you out. No thanks needed."
"Well, just so you know, I'm kind of a lower learner."
"Perfect. Give me a challenge." She turned her head towards me to give me a playful smirk as she had before.
Thank God for these shitty street lights and setting sun or I would be dying of embarrassment right now with how much my face is burning.
As if to mock my thoughts, the crystal made its presence known as it felt as if it was trying to warm me in the middle of a winter snowfall.
Not to self, if it ends up snowing as if hell had frozen over, since, you know, we're in California, the crystal can be a lifesaver.
Once we arrived at the bike rack, Claire put on her blue bike helmet without a second thought as she unlatched her bike from its resting place. I followed suit, putting on my own helmet that was black and white before releasing my own bike from the rack. I flung my leg over the side of the bike, sitting on the bike seat as Claire gave me a wide smile, already set and ready to go.
"Ready?" I gave a quick nod in response.
"Lead the way."
Even though where she lived wasn't more than ten minutes away by bike, it felt as if it was only a few minutes with how we found ourselves enjoying a little race we unspokenly had together. In the end, I let her gain a decent lead on me even though I knew I could catch up with her if I truly tried.
Reason number one: Chivalry isn't dead.
Reason number two: I have no clue where to stop.
Reason number three: If I go any faster, I might need to get swept to stop.
I found myself laughing a little at myself as we stopped in front of the Nuñez estate. Claire hopped off her ride and leaned it up against the staircase leading up to the front door before taking off her helmet. I took off my own helmet before jumping off my bike and leaning it up against the opposite side of the staircase. I hung my helmet off my handlebars like always as Claire started her way up to the door.
"My parents are home for a little bit, but they're getting ready to leave so something for the council so they won't be for long. They might annoy us a little bit before they leave but it shouldn't be anything beyond liveable." I laughed a little at her as I jogged up the steps as was unlocking the front door.
"I think I can handle it." I gave her a determined smile before she entered the house.
"¡Mamá! ¡Papá! ¡Estoy en casa! Traje a alguien." She took off her shoes before she placed her bag next to the couch that was almost instantly to my right. "You can take a seat over there on the couch if you want. My mom's a stickler for her 'Shoes at the door' policy so you might want to kick those off before she sees them." I nodded, taking them off and placed them neatly next to hers before walking over and taking a seat on the couch. I took my bag off my shoulder and placed it in between my feet as I noticed a small blonde haired infant set up in a bouncy seat next to the kitchen. Claire kneeled down to the little one, giving him a loving pat on the head before rising back to her feet. The little one reaching out to her as she walked away.
"So that's your little brother?" I gave her a grin as she sat down beside me, now noticing the two water bottles she had grabbed for us that she placed on the coffee table.
"Yep! His name is Enrique. Want to meet him real quick?" I shrugged with what I hoped was a joyful smile.
"Sure. I have a good track record with little ones anyway."
Not a complete lie. Add that to the white lie list.
We got up together without another word and Claire led the way slightly to her little brother. I knelt down almost instantly as I gave the baby a soft smile.
"Hey there little guy." Instantly, I seemed to amuse the child as he tilted his head at me before giving a toothless smile while he held out his hands towards me.
Be careful, Jim. You understand what he could be. Don't let him think otherwise.
I held out my open hands to him which he instantly grabbed my pointer fingers on each hand.
"You're a happy little one, aren't you?" I chuckled as this drew out a happy little coo from him. I looked up to Claire who had a soft look on her face as she watched the little scene unfold. The necklace that was still hidden away from view started to burn as if it was trying to brand me as I knew it was changing color. A little gabble from Enrique drew my attention back to him as he was now trying to grab for my chest. I looked down to see a slight tint of purple coming from where my sweatshirt was a little open. The thin t-shirt I wore underneath not giving enough coverage to completely snuff out the brightness. Without a second thought, I used my free hand to pull the necklace out from under my shirt, the heartstone glowing lightly now as Enrique looked entranced by it.
Huh. If this kid is a part of the Janus Order changelings, it seems they have no clue of what this necklace means.
That or this kid is an actual infant and I'm too far gone into Trollhunter mode at the moment.
I felt a hand place itself on my shoulder, I looked over to see that Claire had joined beside me. She was trying to keep Enrique from reaching out for the necklace.
"I would put that away if I was you." She had a small laugh as she spoke. "He likes to teeth on anything dangling. I would hate it if he ruined it at all." I nodded my head, putting the necklace back under my shirt and zipped up the jacket a little to keep the color from being seen through it. Enrique's answer to this was a saddened whimper as I shot the infant a smile.
"I know buddy. The colors are enticing, aren't they?" I reached out and allowed him to grab my finger once more. "I promise I'll show you it again sometime, alright? Just, not when you can grab it." This gave me a small coo from the infant as footsteps could be heard behind me. Claire rose to her feet first as she gave a wide smile to those behind us. I got to my feet and tried my best to give an easy smile as I was met with the sight of both Mrs. and Mr. Nuñez. Mrs. Nuñez looked me over for a second before giving me a smile.
"When you said you brought someone I was expecting Darci or Mary, but this is a nice surprise. What's your name, young man?"
"I'm Jim Lake, ma'am." I gave her a nod as I addressed her, hoping I was coming off as polite as I could. "It's nice to meet you." The wide eyes she gave me for a moment before she settled down to an impressed gleam in her eyes told me enough that it worked.
"A boy with formalities? Here I thought those teachings have died." She laughed at her own joke for a moment before speaking once more. "You can call me Mrs. Nuñez or Ophelia if you wish."
"I try my best." I gave her a toothy grin as I spoke. I looked over to her father who was looking me over as he stood beside his wife. "And you must be Mr. Nuñez? It's a pleasure to meet you, sir." His wife gave me a look I couldn't read as he held out his hand toward me.
"It's just Mr. Nuñez. No sir needed." I took his hand, trying my best to follow the few steps that I was taught as a kid as I tried to give him a firm handshake. He gripped my hand a little tight, but I could understand why. From the look in his eyes, it was obvious he didn't like the idea that his daughter brought a boy home. After he released my hand, it throbbed a little but I ignored as Claire joined in.
"Jim is in the play with me and I overheard him saying he was struggling with an algebra packet. I offered to give him some help since I'm babysitting tonight anyway." I smiled toward Claire, feeling a bit of nervousness enter my system while the necklace made it physically known as well.
"That's fine." It was Claire's mom who spoke first with a wide smile. "With how Enrique seemed to enjoy you, I think it'll be fine. Baby's have such a good judge of character at that age anyway." She looked over to her husband as her hand reached out to place itself on his shoulder. "What do you think, honey?" He looked over at me for a second before looking back to his wife.
"I agree, but not for too long. We can't have your parents worrying about you." He gave me a half-smile as I placed my hands in my pockets.
"I only have a few hours before my mom wants me home anyway so I won't be here for too long anyway."
"What does your mother do?" I smiled at Mrs. Nuñez before I answered her question.
"She's a trauma doctor." This rewarded me with a large smile from the councilwoman.
I guess the idea my mom's a doctor makes her trust me a little more. I have no clue how that works out though.
"What about your father?" I was stunned for a second, even though I had a feeling that the question was going to present itself.
"Um." I nervously pulled my right hand out of my pockets and scratched the back of my neck. "He's not really in the picture." This caused a pause in the conversation. I knew that the Nuñez family hadn't been in Arcadia Oaks long enough to have heard the gossip that fluttered around at the time that it happened so I figured they wouldn't have known as the rest of town had. I dropped my hand, placing it back into my jeans pocket as I tried to save us all from an awkward silence. "It's no big deal though."
"Well, I'm sorry either way." I smiled at Claire's mother as she presented the apology. Probably feeling silly for asking the question.
"Really, it's nothing to be sorry for. Honestly." I gave her a sheepish smile as I shrugged it off. For a moment, she glanced over to her husband before looking at the watch on her wrist.
"Well, we should be off. It was wonderful meeting you, Jim." I nodded my head.
"You as well." Mr. Nuñez gave me a nod as he passed me by while Claire walked over to walk them out.
I felt my face flush as they spoke their goodbyes to one another in Spanish as I understood enough to know what "No es un asunto gracioso" to mean. With a click of a lock and a sigh, I looked over to see Claire leaning up against the back of the door as if she was exhausted from the encounter. She straightened up and walked over to me before placing a hand on my shoulder.
"I'm really sorry for all of that. My dad is usually not that cold as my mother is not usually that chatty." I shrugged, giving her the best smile I could muster as the awkwardness from the previous situation still made the air feel uneasy to me.
"It's fine. I understand. Everybody's parents are different. Just happy that they didn't seem to despise me after first meeting me." Claire gave me a smirk as she retracted her hand, crossing her arms over her chest in what I could tell was a playful manner.
"Are you saying that having parents hate you is usual for you?" I gave her a toothy grin.
"I plead the fifth." This got a giggle out of the slightly shorter teen as she unfolded her arms from her chest.
"How about you get your stuff ready as I get us something to snack on? My family had a good guacamole recipe." I smiled at the idea.
"Sure thing."
"Care to explain the absurd change of clothes? I have a sense of, what is it that you humans call it? Deja vu?" I stifled a laugh at Blinky as I was zipping up my black hoodie as we had done in his library not long before.
"Well, we have a different reason this time." I put my gloves in my pocket before straightening out my hood. "We know of a new possible changeling. We want to make sure though before we investigate any further." Blinky's eyes grew wide at my statement.
"Great Scott! How did you figure that out so quickly? It hasn't even been a few days, from my understanding."
"Let's just say someone we know from school was missing a brother and now they had magically reappeared." Blinky rubbed his chin with one of his four hands as the lower set crossed over his chest. He hummed for a minute before speaking.
"Seems suspicious, yes." He kept his chin on his hand as he looked straight towards me. "What could this information provide you?"
"I have no clue as of yet. We could possibly use it as blackmail. If we make it obvious to the changeling that we know who they are, maybe they could be cooperative. Give us a spy within the Janus Order so they could keep their comfy life." I put the same Spider-Man like mask on my head, stopping at my forehead as I have before.
"And if that outcome does not come to light?" I shrugged at the idea.
"I have no clue." I kneeled down to put my clothes in the duffle bag, knowing from its emptiness that Toby was almost done as well. I placed my phone on top of my clothes, standing back up to leave the rest up to Toby. "All I know is that I'm not going to end up killing what is seemingly a baby. That won't go over well with anyone. Let alone myself. Or my psyche." I stood there for a second, shivering at the idea.
Gum-Gums? I could see myself not having a problem mentally slaying those things. It's apart of the job.
Changelings in the form of babies? I will scare myself for life. Even killing an adult one would probably make me feel as if I'm a bloodthirsty murderer. Hell! Even the gnomes I had a problem with I felt bad for!
I shook my head, bringing myself out of my thoughts.
"Either way, we're just going to sneak in and see if he reacts to the Gaggletack. We'll find a way to use the information effectively at some point after." I looked over to Toby who was now kneeling down to place his phone in the duffle, along with his clothes. He already had his glove sticking out of his pockets as his mask was set the same as mine around his forehead. I stared back up to Blinky with a smile as AAARRRGGHH joined the scene just over his shoulder. "It shouldn't take too long." I pulled my gloves out, putting them on before grabbing the Gaggletack that was lying beside the bag.
"Good luck, Trollhunter. We will be expecting you."
"Jim given luck. Same with Toby." Blinky smiled at his companion as he looked over to Toby.
"Yes. Same to you as well, Tobias." I gave both of them a smile before waving goodbye to them as Toby and I made our way out of Troll Market once more. Once we made our way out, we grabbed our bikes without a word between us.
"Ready for this, Jim?" I gave him a smile as I sat on my bike with my foot already on the right pedal.
"As ready as I'll ever be."
