DekUravity-Chapter XIX:
Love with Might 3-Two Friends:
Toshinori fully dressed like someone would be if they were about to go out on a proper date leaves the apartment building...only to find David standing outside, having been waiting for him. David is surprised, even shocked to say the least as he gazes upon the look of Toshi's clothing. If David didn't know any better...he would think that Toshi was getting ready to go out somewhere with a woman...David laughs at the idea of Toshi acting like he was some kind of gentleman. However...
Toshi struggles trying to speak up about going out with Hisuie before David brings up the subject of if both he and All Might were going to do some more Villain bashing like yesterday. Just before Toshinori could answer...Hisuie speaks up, having appeared behind the large Hero. David wonders whom was talking and sees a young woman around his and Might's ages appear onto the scene. She walks around Toshi and introduces herself to David, wondering if he was a friend of Toshinori's. David is hesitant towards saying hi and engage in conversation with Hisuie before demanding to know from Might whom was this young woman that was with him.
Toshi asks David if he remembers the story that Might told the latter not long ago, about having a high school crush. As the pair engage in secret talking away from Hisuie for a few moments, she becomes curious. Wondering if this is what was called by others to be a male bonding moment perhaps. Although learning that this woman was indeed the one in the same girl that Toshinori used to have feelings for, fitting the description of said girl's appearance in his story. Still...David becomes dispirited by the fact if Might plans to change what they scheduled between the two of them for the day...
Toshi claps his hands together and begs David for a favour, just this once. Wanting to spend at least a whole day with Hisuie above all else, even putting off Hero activities before resuming them for the entire week afterwards. David is not amused...believing that Might intends to hold off his ambitions, now that he reunited with an old flame. Toshi says that David's words are uncalled for, having made both a single and simple request, then only to receive backlash for it. Hisuie is concerned if the two were fighting amongst themselves...
David proclaims that Toshinori is damn right about the backlash, the former is trying to be honest with his friend. Being a Hero means taking risks in every single moment of not only a pro's career but life overall as well. Heroes don't get the luxury of normal lives, not when citizens were being sacrificed during each and every single second that both passed and flew by everyone's heads. Shield grabs Might's clothing by his neck and says to him what is the point of living a boring daily life when there was Hero work to be done that required saving the lives of the public...
Might at that moment becomes annoyed, asking that if David wanted to be a Hero himself then why doesn't he just say so instead of lashing out against Toshi? what was so wrong for Toshinori to take a break every now and then!? David replies that Might already knew the answer to that question. He CAN'T become a Hero, not with the Quirk that David has that can only allow him to stretch his fingers and do nothing else...the pair start to run out of breath, just as Hisuie tries to intervene.
Might takes this as an opportunity to leave, roughly taking hold of Hisuie's hand and not wanting to see David's face for the time being. David is then left by himself and kicks his car, accidentally causing the alarm to activate and for David to quickly use his car keys in order to turn the siren off. He wipes some sweat emerging upon his brow due to strong sunlight and watches Toshi walk away before David gets in and starts up his car, driving elsewhere to clear his head. After walking a mile, Hisuie speaks up and says that Toshi was hurting her by holding with a very tight grip...
Realising his mistake, Toshi lets go and deeply apologises towards Hisuie. She wonders if she was the cause of that awful fight...before Toshinori lies and replies that she wasn't. Though Hisuie knew better...she decided to take Might's feelings in stride and be considerate of them. Respecting the fact that he argued with David, solely in order to hang out with her for the day. Hisuie tries to lessen the negative feelings of Might and ask if both he and Shield would usually fight like that. Surprised by what Hisuie wishes to know, Might decides to answer her question but first...the big lug needed breakfast as his stomach growled.
At a nearby diner called "Pete's Pet Spider", Might eats through one extra large sized hamburger one after another, greatly surprising Hisuie by how much he could eat. He shares with her whilst eating the details of Toshinori's relationship with David whilst Shield himself was seen elsewhere, driving towards his university. Since Might chose not to bash Villain heads, David figures that he might actually attend one of Professor Caterwaul's lectures rather then skip out just for the sake of it. Toshi speaks with Hisuie about how both he and David are clearly good friends and that no matter how much they argue. Nothing will tear their friendship apart...not even the deeply and stubbornly rooted opinions they equally have.
Toshi recalls an argument that he had with David about a month ago, similarly tense towards the one the pair just shared earlier back at the apartment complex entrance. David said things along the same lines that he was saying within the current argument during the previous one at the time of last month. David wasn't mincing words and said that he hated the fact All Might was well endowed with such a hefty body, easily able to fight and subdue Villains with. Toshi on the other hand called David scrawny and that he couldn't fight for the life of himself, even if he tried to genuinely combat a Villain...
At the time, Caterwaul broke the duo up, telling them to take a breather from each other respectively...and that's precisely what they did. Not long after, they hugged and made up by having good old cola with one another whilst watching the sunset of the country. Toshi thinks the argument from then wasn't as bad as the one today...but believes that he and David will undoubtedly make up all the same and watch another sunset together. Hisuie is surprised...and glad to hear about what seems to be a very strong bond of friendship between men.
After finishing his last hamburger, Toshi remembers that Hisuie has suffered the loss of trust because of what the jealous students at U.A. did to her. Hopefully intending to help her with that issue, Toshi says to Hisuie if he would be honoured with the details that she has planned for the two of them today. Surprised but happy...Hisuie agrees to comply with Toshi's request, knowing that he was sincere in his desire to fulfil happiness for Hisuie herself. Meanwhile, David arrived at his university...
Looking for Caterwaul, Shield enters the professor's office...only to find it with claw marks and broken vials scattered everywhere. Professor Caterwaul is found laying on the floor by David whom helps the professor up to a nearby chair. Regaining consciousness...the professor reveals what had occurred here in his office, hoping that David wouldn't find out...until it was the right time...for the professor to peacefully pass away. Professor Caterwaul was suffering from a rare type of lung cancer that was untreatable. He diagnosed himself and had discovered that he has only 3 months left to live.
David was shocked, especially horrified to learn of Caterwaul's condition...but it still didn't answer the question of what happened here in the office. The professor next reveals that in order to slow the process of his terminal disease, he had been concocting special mixtures to drink. Although they do help him...they also have an adverse effect. They cause his Monster Cat Quirk to run completely wild and he is unable to control himself until the effects of the mixtures have worn off. Fearing what would happen if Might were to learn of Caterwaul's prognosis...he begs David, his number 1 student to keep quiet about the matter.
David at first refuses until Caterwaul brings up the subject of Toshinori's mentor Nana Shimura. Toshi had lost her to All-For-One and if he learns of Caterwaul's fate before he passes on, being a friend of Shimura's...the professor again begs David to keep this matter a secret. Although begrudging about it...David hesitantly agrees, for Professor Caterwaul's sake. In the meantime...Toshinori goes with Hisuie...to the grounds of her collage. She first wanted to introduce him here at where she works before doing anything else...only for the two to be met with a sudden opposition of sorts.
Another Japanese student studying alongside Hisuie at the collage introduces himself. His name is "Makizo Nanjo", a graduate from Shiketsu, the rival school of U.A. Toshinori reveals to actually recognise Nanjo, having watched Shiketsu's equivalent of the U.A. Sports Festival. Unfortunately for Shiketsu itself, because their festivals are not as popular like the ones only found at U.A. Nanjo had received letters from his underclassmen whom think very highly of him that there might be talks to cancel the Sports Festivals held at Shiketsu and instead hold them solely at U.A. Due to being the number one high school back at his, Toshinori and Hisuie's home in the land of the rising red sun.
Although All Might tries to sympathise with Nanjo, he refuses to accept what he believes is pity. Already knowing whom All Might was, Nanjo had wished to challenge him in a "manly" duel that would decide which school back in Japan was better-U.A. or Shiketsu. All Might was utterly flabbergasted by the idea, not understanding why should they fight for the honours of their high schools when the fighters were stationed in a completely different country around the world. Hisuie opens to the idea, saying that students studying to be Heroes were allowed to combat one another in spars behind the campus. So long as not too much damage was made towards college property...
Thinking this might be a good chance to impress Hisuie, as well as help her with own insecurities...All Might decides to accept Nanjo's challenge and duel him. A smirk appears across Nanjo's expression, very similar to that of Bakugo's whom was yet to be born within the next few decades. Elsewhere, David decided to go and look for Toshinori, having calmed down enough to rationally talk with his friend...his best friend. What would David have to say towards Toshinori when they next meet? would he reveal the truth about the professor? all that mattered at the moment...was that David needed to speak with Toshi.
Nanjo leads both All Might and Hisuie to the Quirk battle arena on the college campus, attracting a number of viewers interested to see a potential challenge unfold. What would All Might face in this battle ahead...he wondered. Regardless of possible worries on his part, Toshi was prepared to face whatever was thrown at him. Because being prepared to face something...is one of the things that most aspiring Heroes must certainly contend with during their livelihoods.
To be Continued.
