They played another game before everyone decided it was time to wrap it up for the night. Hailey and Kim went home, leaving Erin, Jay, Avery and Lottie. Avery had fallen asleep in Erin's lap on the sofa, she was tired from not really sleeping and only recently shaking off the flu. Nobody had the heart to disturb her, so Erin ended up carrying her to bed like a baby. Everyone laughed at the fact that she didn't stir at all. Jay went to shower so it left Lottie and Erin in the living room.
"Avery's such a big baby when she's tired." Erin said smiling, sitting down next to Lottie on the sofa.
"Mhm. She's like a six year old most of the time Erin, lets get real." Lottie laughed. Erin didn't miss the pain behind Lottie's eyes, and her intuition knew something was up.
"Lottie, is everything alright?" Erin said, trying to meet her gaze. Lottie looked down and picked at the hangnail on her thumb. Erin moved closer to her, and put her hand gently on Lottie's knee. "Lottie. Talk to me sweetie."
Lottie shrugged and tears rushed to her eyes, she didn't want Erin to see her crying. "It's fine."
Erin reached over and pulled Lottie in to a hug, rubbing her back gently. "It's okay sweetheart, tell me what's going on." Erin said. Lottie broke down in her arms, sobbing in to Erin's shoulder. The eighteen year old was never asked about what was happening, because she put up such a happy facade. Nobody except her on and off boyfriend, Scott, and his group knew about what was happening...because they were the ones forcing her to do it.
"Well, uh.." Lottie started. "I...Scott got in with this gang and they deal quite a lot but they need someone to check what the drugs will do before they deal them so...I take them and...now I can't stop. I tried Erin, I tried so hard. If I find the willpower not to take them...he beats me and then he'll pin me down and..." Lottie couldn't finish, but she didn't need to, Erin knew what was going on.
Erin had a long past with drugs, so she knew how to help her, she pulled away from the hug and tilted Lottie's chin up to meet her gaze. "What do they make you take?" was all Erin said, her voice serious. Erin wiped away the tears on Lottie's face. "Lottie, I need to know."
"I don't really know. Sometimes it's a needle, so probably heroin. Sometimes coke. I think sometimes ecstasy - that one the most." Lottie said. "But usually...they test out stuff like GHB...they'll give it to me straight, and obviously I don't remember much but uhm...I think they just use to me see how well it works so they can...you know..."
"Take advantage?" Erin said, cupping her hand round Lottie's cheek, who nodded. "What can't you stop taking?"
Lottie pulled up her sleeve to reveal dozens of needle marks, still fresh and red. Erin gently looked at them, using her thumb to gently pull the skin around them, causing Lottie to wince. Erin sighed, it was like looking in a mirror. She'd had the same needle marks from heroin.
"I'm sorry Erin. I'm so sorry, I just can't stop." Lottie said, crying again. Erin pulled her in to another hug, rubbing her back gently and stroking her blonde hair. "Please help me. The more I take it, the more I need to feel high. I'm scared I might OD. But I can't stop it."
Erin held on to her. "It's okay, it's okay Lottie, shhh. I'm going to get you help, I'll help you sweetheart." Erin said. "Now, it's late so go to Aves's room, your stuff is still there, and get some rest. I'm going to make some calls, alright?"
Lottie nodded. "Thank you Erin." Lottie said, still hugging Erin.
"That's alright sweetie, I'm going to make sure you get through this." Erin said, "Cmon kid, let's get you to bed."
Erin and Lottie walked towards Avery's room, and hugged again before splitting off.
Lottie walked in to the room and laughed internally and Avery who was sprawled out underneath the duvet. Lottie changed in to her pajamas, and as quietly as she should, slipped in to bed next to Avery.
Avery stirred beside her, and looked at Lottie's red, puffy eyes. "What's up, have you been crying?" Avery said tiredly, her eyes barely open.
"Go back to sleep idiot." Lottie said, not wanting to start crying again. Avery yawned, before wrapped her arms around Lottie.
"I'm your best friend, I know when somethings up." Avery said, her eyes closed now.
"It's fine, I'll tell you in the morning." Lottie said, hugging Avery back, who was now fast asleep. Lottie smiled and closed her own eyes, still hanging on to her best friend.
