Yes I know, I know. I'm sorry, I started college and like….dude I'm an adult now…. Sorta.
Also still don't own, so not much else has changed.
(Oh god. Okay so the little 'I started college' message above? Jesus I wrote that legit three years ago I'm heading into my final year and I started looking at my older shit and found this and oh my god I have my notes for this damned thing and I remember the batshit stuff I had planned and I felt like I had to finish the chapter.
Man quarantine is wild lads.)
Aido exited with a towel around his waist to Koneko lying on the floor staring at the ceiling.
"What are you doing?"
Turning her head in his direction her pale cheeks flushed instantly eyes trailing half down his toned torso before she eeped and turned away to press her face into the rug.
"Koneko?"
"P-put some clothes on!"
Taken aback Aido smiled slightly and after slipping on a black shirt, lay across the bed, reaching a hand out to twirl a finger around an ebony curl. "Shy again? I thought we'd moved past this."
She hissed and swatted his hand away. "If you're going to be like this I'll go stay in dorms."
"No," Aido said strongly and suddenly. "I don't want you away from me. Not now."
Surprised Koneko turned and sat up cross legged. He still had a towel on his head. "This is really getting you huh, the thing with Kaname-sama?"
"You weren't there when you we were young. But Kaname-sama….he changed so much after his parents' death. Other aristocrats wouldn't walk about it but…his parents loved and cherished him so much. Why…why would they commit suicide?"
Before she could answer, a plate broke in the kitchen shocking them both.
"Let's go see?"
He agreed but the sight that met them in the kitchen through a party open door was surprising. Zero, eyes red, drinking from Yuki Cross.
Walking away in a huff, Aido said annoyed, "What the hell I didn't need to see that…hey you okay?" His voice trailed off as he looked at Koneko.
She looked concerned. "He…was possessed by blood and…I think he might have bitten her before. Her First Bite, was Zero and not Kaname-sama." Koneko explained as they continued to walk, out of the Chairman's quarters and towards the Moon Dorm.
Silence fell for a few minutes.
Aido blinked twice before realization dawned, "Wait! You, you have the First Bite thing in China. It's important right? That's why you mentioned the bite thing…"
Koneko nodded, inclining her head in thanks as they entered the dorm and he held the door out for her.
"Less so than it used to be, but Granny always promoted it. She's a forward thinking woman but there's something about this tradition that she holds on to. To be someone's first bite is an honour you daren't disregard. Wars have been fought and peace has been bought over it. I for one never been bitten." Koneko explained seriously but for some reason it felt like a lie to her, as a small knot of guilt appeared in her stomach but she told the truth, she'd never been bitten.
At least, she didn't remember.
Aido on the other hand's eyes had widened and he made a small promise to himself to research more on the traditions of Koneko's other origins.
"T-then…who?" He gulped, "I mean uh…"
Koneko smiled albeit a little secretly. "Go read about it and come back to me."
He whined a little and she smiled a bit wider, "Ah, there it is. That smile. You worry too much Hanabusa,"
He sighed and stared up at the door to Kaname's office. "I'm worried about him…about what's behind this door."
"We'll open it then, together." She said seriously as they both grasped the handle.
Inside was dark and even without the pureblood in it, the leather chair behind the large desk was rather intimidating.
But their eyes were drawn to a chessboard, where one of the pieces had been crushed.
Aido put one hand to his chest and the other wrapped around Koneko's wrist. Kaname-sama was planning something.
But what?
The next time Aido stated he needed time to think and Koneko agreed. That was fair, after all he had a lot of loyalty and emotion for Kaname. He'd need time.
So she called Osuma.
"Well, this is a surprise." Her psychic brother joked as soon as he answered the phone.
"Did Satoru mess with mine and Raiden's memories?" She said instantly.
There was a pause.
Then,
"Probably."
It felt like someone had punched her in the gut, she wasn't expecting…that.
"What do you mean 'probably? How can you just say PROBABLY?"
"Koneko…Satoru messed with everyone. Her was our brother and I loved him but I never trusted him not fully. Think about it. He was in with Jiren but secretly supported Granny whose in league with Beijing maybe, because honestly who knows what Granny wants? Then he'd say he would stand with Yoichi when he took over from father but he married Chieko who's from Tokyo not Kyoto and Akane was going to school in Hong Kong, they weren't exactly preparing to come home. His ability to alter memories was coveted by many, feared by more including me. I write down everything, I keep extensive notes for this exact reason just in case Satoru ever did use his power on me, somewhere there was evidence of the truth."
Koneko sat back resting her head as she stared up at the ceiling. "Can you have a look through. Maybe you know something I don't. It can't be just me and Raiden….can it? Would Satoru choose just us to alter?"
"I mean, there's other options here. You could be wrong is always a suggestion though in this situation I feel as though you're not. You could have found out something you weren't supposed too, that's probably the most likely option. Of course it mightn't have been Satoru at all. Granny could have had him do it, you live with a pureblood, memory altercation is more commonly associated with them. Also…"
"ALSO?"
Osuma chuckled as she got more and more frustrated. "Have you considered the possibility that you had a hand in this?"
"A hand in what, changing my own memories? Changing Raiden's maybe yours?"
There was a pit in her stomach, like a coin had dropped. A pull at her head, the sense of words on the tip of her tongue. She blinked twice and it faded leaving behind a taste of iron in her mouth.
"Precisely."
"Why would I do that to myself? To my brothers?"
"Maybe you know something you shouldn't so you got rid of it. A secret, an event, the options are endless. You could be afraid of something, running from someone? This could be an orchestrated plan that you wanted out of and of course you didn't plan for Satoru's death which I'm assuming is what causing the déjà vu and paranoia about memories possibly being gone and maybe returning. Without his strength to keep it going, things are resetting. History demands to happen Koneko we can't hide from it."
"That makes things way scarier you know." She said softly, "The idea that I feared something or someone. That I did something or saw something or know something I shouldn't that frightened me enough to have my brother take it away. I'd prefer anything else."
Osuma sighed over the phone and for a few minutes it went silent.
"Koneko…things are changing out there. The streets are talking. Something's stirring and I don't know how much real world you see in that school but I have a feeling it'll arrive at your gates sooner rather than later. You must prepare for it lest you get swept up in the madness that'll undoubtedly ensue. I'll check my notes and see if I can find anything."
He paused,
"Koneko, please. Find your answers quickly. I buried one sibling. I could not survive the death of another."
Osuma disconnected the call.
So like, hi? Been a while.
