That night led to both falling asleep in each other's embrace. With Judy curled into Nick's chest and neck, and Nick wrapped around her, his tail across her body. The two felt well rested when they woke up a couple of hours later.

They remained in each other's arms as they enjoyed their new found relationship status. Simple good mornings were traded along with a short kiss, followed by silence for a brief moment.

"Nick?" Judy's muffled voice said, coming from where she'd buried her muzzle in his neck.

"Yes?" He replied.

"If this works out between us, will Adam be okay with it?" Judy felt Nick's tail wrapping behind her thighs.

"I'm fairly certain he'll be more than ecstatic about the whole thing."

"I'm just worried that us being in a relationship would cause a rift between him and his mother." She not only heard but felt how his chest rose and fell as he sighed heavily.

"Last time Laura and I spoke, I let her know, in no uncertain terms, that you would be around more often."

Judy leaned back to look him in the eyes, her own widened in surprise. "When did that happen?"

"A couple of days ago. The day after you and your parents went home."

"How did she react?"

"Stunned." He stated. "It wasn't a nice conversation. I kind of snapped at her. It was the first time I'd really done that before and she wasn't expecting it. After that she was really cooperative. I wasn't expecting that."

"What were you expecting?" Judy asked.

"A shouting match I guess. But, David and Adam came into the room about that time and she just… left."

"Do you think she'll try to keep Adam away from you?" Judy said with worry in her tone.

Nick didn't say anything for a moment as he thought about the possibility. Judy watched as his facial expression switched from one emotion to the next. From worry to contemplation, then confusion to uncertainty. "I don't believe so. At least, I hope not."

Judy nodded into his chest where her head was currently resting. The two fell into a comfortable silence for a few moments as they just enjoyed being close to one another, until they heard a crashing noise coming from the kitchen.
