It was the day of Lin's funeral, as Republic City Police dressed in black uniforms carried Lin's coffin with the United Republic flag, which was simply the gold emblem on a field of purple over Lin's coffin. The police officers carried Lin as the Tsungi horn played in the background. Lin's coffin was dropped in the cemetery hole where the people dug. Me, Korra, Asami and the others were dressed in black, gathered around the hole where Lin was buried. Su Yin attended the funeral, along with her husband Bataar and the Beifongs. Su was heartbroken to see her sister pass. She kneeled to the ground and cried.
"No, how could this happen!" Su cried. She was holding her hands over her eyes as tears rolled down her eyes.
"It's ok, mother." Bataar Jr. said.
"No, it's not ok!" Su said. "My sister is dead! I just recently got along with her, but now she kicked the bucket!" Su went to say a few words for her sister.
"Friends, we are gathered here today to celebrate the wonderful life of my sister Lin Beifong. Su said. Lin was many things, a police chief, a warrior, a stick in the mud, but what she was most importantly was my sister. Suyin said. The man who served under her wing would like to say a few words is Mako." Mako took the stage and claimed the floor.
"As police detective, I served under Lin for some time." Mako said. "Under her command I had busted many Triads, solved many cases, and even worked with Korra to rebuild a whole civilization." Mako paused for a bit. "I will make this announcement right here that I will assume my title as chief of Republic City Police. Under my leadership, I will make my brother detective, and together we will maintain a just policing system, no bias, no favoritisms, just good clean law and order." Mako ended his speech, as the officers gave him a black overcoat with the RCPD badge on it.
"Congratulations, Mako, you are the first non Earthbender Police Chief!" Bolin said.
"Thanks Bro." Mako said. "I want you to conduct an investigation on who the murderer of Lin was, while we work with Milan to solve the case."
Republic City Police Station
Bolin spoke with me if I knew anything or possibly was involved with Lin's murder.
"Milan, I am going to do a little technique I learned from the teachings of Toph Beifong." Bolin used his Earthbending to observe my blood to determine if I was lying.
"Did you perhaps murder Lin Beifong?" Bolin asked. He did not determine a pulse, so I was telling the truth.
"Do you know or are you familiar with the actual murderer?" Bolin asked, holding up a copy of the newspaper.
"Yes, I do." I said. "It was a member of the Heian Society." I said.
"Heian Society?" Bolin asked. "Come with me and Mako, we are going on an investigation together." I joined Mako and Bolin as we went to see Zhu Li.
Zhu Li's Office, Republic City Hall
"According to these news reports, the murderer was a man with a purple robe and green accented black hair and green eyes. He has to be Earth Kingdom, but there are only two Heian members left." Zhu Li explained.
"It's Golu." I said.
"How do you know his name?" Bolin asked.
"An old friend of mine told me." Anon came in the room.
"I used to date a guy named Golu a while back." Anon explained. "We were fine at first, until he started having a desire for power." Anon shivered as she paused. "He wanted the health insurance money, so he tied me to the bed with Metalbending and forced me into sex. That was just the beginning, because he beat me and tried to make my life a living hell." Anon was crying as she was telling her story. "That's when I vowed to cast him out of my life, but now that he is a member of this secret society, I want him dead even more!"
"Why did you join the Triple Threats?" I asked.
"I joined them because I wanted to be strong, and to prove that I can survive no matter what I have to do to get there. I can have half my body torn off but I will still do whatever it takes to come through!" Anon said.
"That explains it." I said. "Would you come with us to track down Golu's location?" I asked.
"Certainly." Anon said. We left Republic City Hall and headed for the Republic City Police Station.
Republic City Police Station
At the Republic City Police Station, Chief Mako, Detective Bolin, Anon and I were gathered around the municipal map of the city.
"Anon, can you tell where you used to date Golu?" Mako asked. "Odds are he could be there."
"We used to go to this soda fountain called Lee's Fountain, located in the Upper East Side. He could be at the fountain reminiscing the past."
"Let's go there." I said. We got in our police car and zoomed to Lee's. We parked the car and got inside. We saw Golu sitting down at a booth drinking a Lychee-Cola. I grabbed Golu and threw him on the floor.
"You are under arrest!" Mako said. "You have been charged with rape, domestic abuse, and the murder of Lin Beifong." Anon Metalbended some bonds onto Golu.
"Take him away." I said.
"Yea, take him away!" Bolin joked.
"You are going to answer for what you have done!" Anon said.
Meanwhile, at the Heian Society Headquarters, Kiara was listening to the radio broadcast of Golu's arrest.
"And there you have it folks, Golu was arrested and will face trial..." The rest of the radio broadcast was unheard because Kiara used her Firebending to blow up the radio.
"THOSE DAMN FOOLS!" Kiara screamed. "If The Heian cannot control the world, then we will destroy it." She breathed fire out her nostrils in anger. "Republic City will burn to the ground, and a new Republic City will be born in its place. First Republic City, then the entire world will be burned and in its place will be a whole new world."
