When the call arrived, Orion answered. Sure, he was one of many, but even so he was called to serve, to ensure mankind survived and to ensure...
When Artemis noticed, she acted. Sure, she was interfiering with something important, but this was a once-in-a-millenia opportunity...
"DARLING! Come here, this food is amazing! This is nothing like the offerings mortals gave us or the food from our time! And this desert... MHHHHHH"
"Ahh Artemis please! This is not an offering to you... wait, is it tasty?"
...that his beloved didn't attract anymore attention to both of them.
...that she didn't regret in the slightest.
And in that small restaurant in the middle of Greece, a place the Goddess Artemis was attracted to in order to partake in modern food, no matter how hard he tried to stop her from revealing themselves, Greece's greatest hunter took a moment to remember how it all started, just a scarce few hours before.
It actually all started when the Grand Saber was summoned, almost a month ago. Her summoning was the trigger that started the chain reaction. The descent of the Grand Servants, heralded by the King of Knights.
And so Orion found himself in his homeland, a Greece he now didn't recognize at all, yet at the same time, the World suplied him the knowledge needed to close the cultural gap between the ages, in order to reach understanding with the current humanity. But what truly occupied his thoughts, was not the weight of the task ahead of him, nor the scope of the conflict they were brought into, that all of mankind was brought into, but rather, his current companion.
She was just as he remembered. Silvery-blue hair, beautiful light blue eyes, that beautiful dress, her big assets, and her mercurial temper when he made her angry or looked at other Girls.
He was just as she remembered. His big body, a frame bulging with muscles, yet with a surprisingly kind and sometimes silly face. That sometimes tended to look at her body parts or another woman with a funny expresion that made her incredibly angry.
And wasn't that a surprise for him, finding that his beloved had managed to tie herself to him in his summoning and come along for the ride. He had felt her trying to squeeze herself into his summoning, or rather, squeeze him into the smallest corner possible to make room for herself. But all of a sudden that stopped, and he the summoning went on as expected... He had expected for her to have given up fighting the will of the World by interfering with his summon, but to his surprise, here she stood, with the full weight of her Authority.
It was surprising to be sure, so I decided to go along with it. I tried to force myself into the summoning but for some reason, I couldn't make that happen. Yet I wasn't willing to let Orion go on without me, so I gave it my all, kept on following him, and managed to properly manifest on the World once again. It was hard sure, but not as hard as I expected. Maybe the hole to the Reverse Side that was opened had something to do with it? Good thing was, she had her Authority with her, which wouldn't have been possible with her original Idea.
In a way, that was both a blessing and a curse for him. A curse because he'll now be unable to hit on cute girls around him, and a blessing, because this was a new oportunity for both of them.
Artemis decided she didn't care how she managed it, because she was happy to be with Orion again, after last time was cut short by her Idiot Brother and his jealousy.
His life was not a long one, but it was emotional, and dangerous... and not because of the monsters. And to die at the hands of your beloved isn't a particularly happy memory, the fact that she was tricked by Apollo notwithstanding. Even before knowing that, I forgave her, and still loved her, which she always returned even when I made her angry with my flirtling.
She wasn't insecure, as humans would put it, to reject claims that Orion brought a new perspective upon her. In all the time she was praised and exalted, she's never felt what she felt with Orion, Love. Which she always felt returned, even as he flirted with mortals, even as he felt lust for moments, even as her Arrow hit him, even as he drew breath for the last time. He didn't curse her, nor reject her, he still loved her.
Even though her way of returning that love were... odd, to say the least. Their relation was a paradox, with how the God's mindset is Alien in comparison to mankind's. But they made it work, and they were happy.
She knows she doesn't love as a human would, because she wasn't and never would be. But even so, they always gave it their all for their love to work, and will continue to do so.
And so it was that Man and Goddess reunited, and started a new journey that would take them to places they couldn't have dreamed. Both with a sense of purpose, and a desire to experience this new chance at life.
And as both lovers looked at each other, as the Goddess shared her current meal with her lover, as the Great Hunter looked upon the smiling woman, both of them savored that moment. A moment that both of them would always remember, and tresure fondly in the upcoming battles. For they'll always remember...
'This is right where I want to be.'
