Epilogue

One year later.

Donna and Harvey were getting married this weekend. It had been over a year since Donna had been cancer-free and now just felt like the right time. Her hair was not pretty much the length she had it before, her scars were no longer red and angry but blended with her skin tone and she was finally getting back to normal. They had been planning the ceremony for a few months and had decided to keep it a small and intimate affair.

"It's weird," Donna said, "I thought after the treatments everything would just go back to the way it was but it hasn't"

"Donna" Harvey replied with a frown

"No Harvey, I'm glad it hasn't. I like where I am today and it has changed me but I think for the better" Donna smiled at the realisation as did Harvey

"Yeah?"

"Yeah. Don't get me wrong if wish it had never happened, but it brought me here with you and taught me that I am way stronger than I ever thought I was"

"You've always been tough. You just didn't realise it before" Harvey said moving closer to her "and I can't believe I get to marry you in two days"

"I can't believe I'm letting you" Donna quipped kissing her husband to be.

The wedding was a small ceremony held at a beautiful historical venue just outside of the city. There was a small grass area which was planted with beautiful white and pink flowers and the weather was just perfect for a wedding. The sun-filled the garden and bounced off the small lake nearby.

Donna wore an elegant white dress that flowed to the floor and fitted her perfectly. I hugged every curve of her body like it had been made just for her, which it had. Her hair was wavy and thick and left down to flow around her shoulder. Harvey thought she had never looked so beautiful. Her dad walked her down the aisle and everyone else just disappeared when Harvey's eyes locked on hers.

They kept the ceremony short and sweet just waiting for that moment when Harvey was told he could kiss the bride. The crowd clapped when he did, and he had never felt happier. Donna was holding back her tears with the biggest smile on her face because today was the day, she married the love of her life.

Barely a month had passed when Donna decided she was ready to take the next step. Her and Harvey had been making dinner when she, out of the blue, brought it up to him

"Harvey, I want a baby" she had stated very matter of factly making Harvey tense up a little. He wanted on too, but he hadn't been prepared for this blunt delivery

"Okay" Harvey paused walking close to her "Well I'm sure that can be arranged" he picked her up and placed her onto the countertop.

It hadn't been easy for them. Donna's treatments had meant her hormone levels weren't where they were meant to be. They had spent months trying with nothing happening. She had started on some hormonal treatments but still nothing. But just as she was about to lose hope the stick returned a positive.

Donna had run to Harvey and jumped up into his arms and kissed him without a word. He held her up and kissed her back but was confused until she presented the stick to him.

"You're pregnant" He smiled. "We're having a baby"

"We're having a baby" she repeated happy tears falling down her face.

Their beautiful baby girl was born nine months later, and she couldn't have been more perfect. And two years later she was joined by a sister. One day watching her two girls and Harvey playing in the living room Donna couldn't help but smile. 5 years ago, she was going through the worst time of her life and today she couldn't have wished for anything more.
