Part Twenty Two
That evening Jackie uncomfortably made her way downstairs, half asleep she turns on the light for the kitchen and screams in surprise to find Mrs Hyde lying fast asleep face down on the table ,
"Jackie?!" Steven ran downstairs his hair all over the place,
"Oh man! How did she get back in here?!" Steven moans irritable at the sight of his mother,
"Ew she's been smoking in here. My stomach is churning already " Jackie goes to the fridge and pours herself a glass of juice , noticing the tortured expression on her husbands face making her lightly place her hand on his arm,
"Baby go back to bed. I will set up the couch for her tonight "
"Jackie..."
"I know Steven. You don't need to say anything. I understand " Hyde looks at her and knew that she did making him smile lightly,
"Thanks" was all he could manage to say as she lightly rubs his arm,
"Go on. Your working tomorrow go get some sleep" Hyde kisses her before hesitantly leaving the room, Jackie waited until he was upstairs before waking Mrs Hyde up,
"Woah ! What time is it?" She asks groggily smelling of stale alcohol and cigarettes, making Jackie squirm her nose trying not to be sick,
"Midnight. Listen your clearly determined to stay so here's what going to happen. Tonight you will sleep on the couch then tomorrow we go over house rules!"
"Whatever princess!"
"Don't whatever me. I will not have you drag my husband down! I love him and I won't have you hurt him again!"
"Your so uptight ! Guess its the baby! When I was pregnant with Steven I was crazy ...even then he screwed up things for me " Jackie felt her eyes water her heart breaking,
"Please i am going against my pride here to beg you to not hurt Steven. I know what he went through before and he was a total mess. I get that because my parents abandoned me too...it hurts" mrs hyde yawns loudly and falls her head back onto the table snoring loudly, Jackie sighs frustrated as she heads back upstairs trying to keep her composure and not cry.
The next morning Steven woke up and went downstairs to find Jackie tidying up looking exhausted,
"Doll?"
"Oh good morning Steven! Listen your mom is still passed out on the table...I will wake her so you don't have to see it"
"Oh Jackie I love you for that but I honestly can handle it. Did you sleep?"
" couple of hours. Baby wriggling around all night "
"You should go lie down i will bring you breakfast in bed" Jackie wraps her arms around his waist kissing him lovingly,
"Thank you baby but I am fine. You go and relax before work while I make breakfast " they both enter the kitchen to find his mom rummaging through the cupboards,
"Mom?!"
"My Kitchen!" Jackie looked horrified by the mess as mrs hyde shrugs over at them unfazed as she pulls out a lighter and a cigarette,
"Mom don't you dare light that in my house!"
"Never thought I'd hear you say that! You've gone a right bore since being with Princess moany here!" Jackie hormonal could not hold her emotions and silently the tears fell, making hyde grit his teeth as he strides over to his mother grabbing the cigarette off her and ripping it apart,
"You dare enter my home and not just wreck the joint but upset my wife and disrespect her . See I can take whatever you throw at me but don't ever bring my family into your toxic crap! Now I want you to leave and never come back "
"But I am your mother! You never respected me Steven! Your going to end up like your father and screw that kid up!" Jackie did not realise what she had done until after her hand had slapped mrs hyde , all three standing in shock before mrs hyde stood defensively at Jackie making Steven stand infront of Jackie,
"OUT NOW!" They watched as she left the house Jackie bursting into tears making Steven wraps his arms around her, both holding each other seeking comfort from each other.
At the record store Hyde sat looking deep in thought as Eric, Kelso and Fez were sat on the couch chatting to each other ,
"Hey baby" Jackie says entering the store kissing his cheek,
"Hey doll why aren't you resting?" Jackie frowns concerned,
"Did you forget ? I have a scan remember?"
"Oh crap Jackie I'm so sorry man!"
"Its okay I get how seeing parents that abandoned you can through you off course. Look you need to work ill just get Donna to take me or maybe ask Kitty"
"No! I will not have you go through this alone " Jackie smiles sadly taking his hand and squeezed it lightly,
"I am here Steven. Like you were for me. So don't do a you and bottle things up okay?" Steven lightly strokes her chin playfully,
"Go sit down i will find someone responsible to cover for me "
Hyde helped Jackie inside the house and leads her upstairs,
"Argh Steven I feel fine ! Why do I need to have bed rest!"
"Because the doctors said. Now get into bed Jackie hyde and don't move unless to goto the bathroom " Jackie gets changed into pyjamas and hyde helps her into bed tucking her in,
"Now I have put everything you need on the bedside table. I will see you later when I get home from work. If you need anything ring me or kitty . I love you " Jackie turns on the telly feeling useless as she uncomfortably tries to find a angle to lie on,
"Uh I'm so fat!" Jackie lightly takes deep breathes as she flicks through the channels beyond fed up.
