Day of the Match
Early Morning (Before Practice)
"Gary Hurry up, I don't want to be late for practice because of you." said Ash in a hurried tone.
"I am ready ashy boy & according to me we are still half an hour early from the scheduled practice session." Replied Gary in a somewhat assuring manner.
"Yeah, I know that, but I want to warm up before everyone else" ash told Gary while smirking.
"Yeah you still want to surprise everyone but you can't surprise me ashy boy" retaliated Gary while smirking.
"You will never know Gary" Ash hummed to himself as they walked out of their dorm
After Practice
"Good thing that we have matches at weekends" said Gary while Groaning
"I know, Last time was even more hectic" said Calem and Paul nodded as they finished their practice
"So, everyone ready for the match?" asked Gary as he eyed everyone from the team
"We're" shouted everyone from the team but Gary sensed tension
"I know we are facing the defending champions today & it would be one hell of a challenge to win, but we must give our best & hope for the best" said Gary as everyone nodded and smiled
"That was some motivation" said Paul
"I learned from the best" said Gary while winking while at the same time Grant came around them
"Everyone, that now we have dealt with the practice, go get some rest before the match" ordered Grant as everyone nodded and went towards the exit
Before the Match (In the stands)
"Ash, why was you coming alone for the match?" asked Serena
"Because, I don't want to intrude on anyone and their friends" said Ash
"Oh, don't you worry about that, you're not intruding on anyone" interjected Dawn with a smile.
"Yeah, and I doubt if anyone of us would feel like that" said Serena
"Thank you" said Ash
ANNOUNCER- WELCOME BACK FOLKS!!! I, MONSUIRE PIERRE WILL BE HOSTING TODAY, ANOTHER FIERY GAME. WE HAVE THE DEFENDING CHAMPIONS PLAYING AGAINST THE HOSTS TODAY. KANTO HIGH VS KALOS HIGH.
ANNOUNCER- MUCH ANTICIPATED GAME AND KALOS HIGH'S FIRST GAME OF THIS YEAR'S SEASON. KALOS HIGH AFTER WINNING THE LAST GAME UNEXPECTEDTLY IS HIGH ON CONFIDENCE.
"Today's match is the real challenge for Kalos High" said Dawn
"Last year Kanto High knocked out Kalos High out of the tournament" said Serena
ANNOUNCER- FOLKS, PLAYERS ARE ON THE FIELD AND LOOKS LIKE GARY OAK IS THE NEW CAPTAIN OF KALOS HIGH, ESPECIALLY AFTER HIS REMARKABLE PERFORMANCE IN THE LAST MATCH. THIS TIME RITCHIE HIROSHI IS LEADING THE KANTO RANGERS INSTEAD OF RED OAK.
ON THE FIELD
"Even a Oak won't be able to help Kalos to Win" said Ritchie
"We will see" answered Gary calmly
In the Stands
"It's not good" said Ash as the players took position
"What happened?" asked Serena
"Kanto High has already studied every player of Kalos High & Marked every player with one of their own" said Ash as he pointed towards the field
"But, Gary and Calem along the team can manage that" said Serena
"Both Gary and Calem are being marked by their best one's even if one of them would be able to break out of the markings, there is still little chance that they will be able to tear off their Defenses" explained Ash
"You're a Basketball player not a soccer player, I won't be surprised if you would be wrong" said Dawn to which Ash shrugged
15 Minutes Later
ANNOUNCER – FOLKS, KANTO RANGERS ARE NOT GIVING KALOS DRAGONS ANY CHANCES FROM THE START. HAVING THE POSSESSION OF THE BALL ALMOST ALL THE TIME. KALOS HIGH CAN BARELY HOLD ON TO THE BALL AFTER CROSSING THE 'D'.
ANNOUNCER- RITCHIE HAS THE POSSESSION AND IS FASTLY MOVING FORWARD WHILE BREACHING THE DEFENCE AND A 'GOAL'. KANTO RANGERS IS IN LEAD 1-0
"It is bad" said Serena
"It sure is, they are targeting Gary & Calem" said Ash
"Yeah, they are not given any room to move around" said Dawn
Half Break Time
ANNOUNCER- FOLKS, HALF TIME IS UP & KANTO RANGERS ARE IN LEAD 2-0. KALOS DRAGONS NEED SOME MIRACLE IN THE SECOND HALF TO WIN THIS MATCH AS OF TILL NOW KANTO RANGERS ARE THE ONE DOMINATING.
"I think, I go see Gary now" said Ash as he left
"What's up with him?" asked Dawn
"Don't know" said Serena as she shrugged her shoulders
Dressing Room
"DAMN RANGERS" Shouted Gary
"Cool down boys" said Grant as he came forward
"How can we, coach?" asked Calem
"LISTEN!! FIRST HALF WAS THEIR'S BUT NOW MAKE THE SECOND ONE OURS" Motivated Grant and everyone nodded and at the same time Ash entered the dressing room
"Hey Coach, can I talk with Gary for a minute?" asked Ash to which Grant nodded and Gary walked up to Ash
"What's up Ashy boy?" asked Gary to which Ash grabbed his arm and took him to distant area.
"You're going to lose this match terribly at this rate" said Ash in a low voice
"I know, their strategy has cornered me" said Gary
"I knew that would happen, Red was one of them and to say we learned all those strategies from him" said Ash to which Gary's eyes widened
"That's why everything I tried, they get to know beforehand" said Gary to which Ash nodded
"Indeed, But I am not here for that" said Ash gaining Gary's attention
"Why you're here? Asked Gary intrigued
"They are testing you Gary, till now" said Ash confusing Gary to which he clarified "to see how much of a Oak you're"
"That means they are comparing me with Red?" asked Gary to which Ash nodded
"Now listen, Give them what they want but carefully" said Ash
"But how?" asked Gary being frustrated
"Don't worry, I have planned something & even it won't be enough for us to win the match, but it would give everyone a show" said Ash with a smirk
"Shit man, I wish you would've been playing this match" Cursed Gary
"Don't worry & listen" said Ash and then he told his plan for the match to Gary to which he smirked
"Ashy-boy you're really a devil in disguise" said Gary while laughing
"Oh really & I thought I am helping you" said Ash
"You're, but I am thinking about the strategies you made" said Gary
"Don't worry, if I am right, I would be playing along you the next match" Said Ash with a smirk
"Anyways, I must go now to explain the strategy to everyone" said Gary to which Ash nodded and left the dressing room and Gary returned to the team
"What took you so long?" asked Paul
"Everyone, I have a plan" said Gary to which everyone became curious and averted their attention towards him
In the Stands
"Ash has been gone for long" said Serena
"Missing him already?" asked Dawn while teasing
"Shut-up Dawn" replied Serena embarrassed
"He is back" said Dawn as she saw Ash walking back
"What happened, Ash?" asked Serena
"Nothing, Serena" answered Ash
"So, Ash you play soccer too?" asked Dawn surprising Ash & Serena
"Yeah, little bit" answered Ash
"Paul told me about yesterday's practice match" said Dawn
"Oh really, It was not much as I tend to always play with Gary & Red in my hometown and practically grew up like that" said Ash to which Dawn nodded
"Serena here once had a standard set up for her that she would date a guy who will be captain of both Basketball & Soccer" said Dawn with a smirk while embarrassing Serena
"Oh really?" asked Ash in curiosity
"It was just to push everyone away, knowing that something won't happen in reality" said Serena to which Ash nodded
"Suppose if something like that happen then what?" asked Ash
"Then nothing, I guess" replied Serena
"But I don't understand one thing then" said Ash
"Why Calem?" asked Ash to which Dawn also giggled and Serena took a deep breath
"He is my childhood friend and I thought it would keep people away from my back" said Serena in a low voice to which Ash nodded
"Why are you so intrigued, Ash?" asked Dawn
"I was ascertaining my chances" said Ash while giggling to which Serena's face flushed
"Why" Asked Dawn being intrigued
"Well, it is a secret for now, but I can tell you both if you both will keep it to yourselves" said Ash to which Serena & Dawn nodded their heads
"Sure, what it is" asked Serena
