"I cared for Chaka. I always have. And I still do. I wish I could have been there for him, but I couldn't. Scar wouldn't let me go near him. If I did I would be dead. I wish I just disobeyed him and just ran with you and him. I wish I could take it back but I can't... I-I-I.." - Nala

Chapter 24: Nightmares and Flashbacks

That night everyone in the royal cave was asleep. Kopa was sleeping in his spot in the royal cave. He was sleeping beside both of his sisters while their mother and step-father were gone to spend some time alone. Suddenly a flashback went through Kopa's mind as he was asleep.

Flashback - when Kopa and Chaka were four months old

"Kopa!" Scar roared, coming onto the scene, looking very angry. They were inside the royal cave.

"Y-Yes Scar?" Kopa stammered fearfully.

"Where's your brother?!" Scar shouted.

"I-I don't know," Kopa stammered nervously, looking away from his step-father.

"Kopa," Scar said with anger, forcing his step-son to look at him. "I need you to tell me where your brother is. It's important that I find him."

"Why do you want to see my brother?" Kopa asked, even though he knew full well why Scar needed Chaka.

"You know damn well why I need your brother!" Scar boomed, causing Kopa to shake in fear. "I need him for his lessons today! Him and Damu!"

"Damu is at the watering hole," Kopa said. "But I have no idea where Chaka is," he lied.

"DON'T YOU DARE LIE TO ME KOPA!" Scar roared furiously, causing Kopa to jump. "You better tell me now or so help me it won't be pretty!"

"As I said before Scar," Kopa said, his voice rising with anger. "I have no idea where Chaka is."

"Are you asking for it?" Scar asked, advancing to Kopa.

"Asking for what?" Kopa asked fearfully, backing away from his step-father

"This," Scar said roughly, raising his paw. "You don't want this do you?!"

"No," Kopa said softly.

"Then you better damn tell me where Chaka is right now!" Scar roared furiously, his paw still raised.

"You know what?" Kopa said his tone flat. "I honestly don't think you'd listen to me anyway. Like I said before, I have NO idea where Chaka is. He didn't say where he was to me. He just doesn't trust me at all. So you better look for Chaka yourself 'cause I have no idea where the hell Chaka is." Just then, Scar stroke Kopa in the face, sending him flying in the cave and hitting a nearby wall and hitting the ground hard.

"That's what happens when you don't answer me, boy!" Scar said roughly. "If you didn't want this to happen then you should have answered me!" With that, Scar began to walk out of the cave, leaving Kopa to fight for consciousness. While Scar was about to exit the cave, he ran into Nala, who was looking none too pleased.

"You better knock some sense into your boy Nala!" Scar boomed. "Because your boy didn't want to answer a single question I asked him. So you better knock some damn sense into him or so help me I will kill him!" With that, Scar stormed out of the cave to look for Chaka.

"Kopa!" Nala cried out in horror, running to her son. Just then, Kopa's world turned black and was knocked out unconscious.

End of Flashback

Nightmare

Kopa gasped and looked around, realizing everyone in the cave, including his sisters and grandmothers. He got up to his feet and headed outside the cave. Just as he got out of the cave, the sky was pure red.

"Huh?" Kopa said with an eyebrow raised, clearly confused. "What the hell is going on here? Where is everyone at?" With that, Kopa headed down Pride Rock to look for everyone

After what seemed like forever, Kopa gave up on finding his family. Just then he heard a voice say, "Hello there young precious Kopa." Kopa spun around and gasped to see his father, Asante, standing there with an evil smile.

"No," Kopa gasped, his eyes wide in horror. "You're dead. There's no way your alive dad. There's no freakin' way that you're alive."

"Oh but I am Kopa," Asante said evilly. "And because I am alive I want to show you something."

"Show me what?" Kopa asked suspiciously.

"Come," Asante said, motioning his son to follow him. "I will show you." With that the Kopa followed his father, dreading what his father will show him.

TLKTLKTLKTLKTLK

Asante and Kopa reached the gorge and to Kopa's horror, saw his mother laying there in blood along with Simba, his sisters, and the other Pride Members. "Mom!" Kopa cried out in horror. "Simba! Aisha! Kali!" With that, Kopa went running to his mother, sisters, and step-father's body.

"Oh no you don't Kopa," Asante said, scooping Kopa from going close to his mother's body. "You are not going anywhere close to your mother's body."

"And why the hell not?!" Kopa shouted.

"Because," Asante said, pointing to the hungry hyenas. Kopa gasped and his eyes grew wide as he saw the pack. "You are going to be next."

"What do you mean I'm going to be next?" Kopa asked.

"You are going to die next," Asante said evilly. Kopa tried to break out of his father's strong grip, but because of his father's strong grip, it was impossible to do so. "Attack!" With that, the hyena pack went after Kopa. Kopa broke free from his father's strong grip and made a run for it. But he didn't get too far. The hyenas had pinned him down and were biting him, causing him to cry in pain.

"Dad why would you do this to me?!" Kopa cried through his pain. "I'm your son!"

"Oh naive little Kopa," Asante said evilly. "So stupid eh? You thought I loved you? I never did. If it weren't for your mother's stupidity than none of this would have happened. And besides, seducing your mother was my only interest. Goodbye, naive stupid Kopa." With that, Asante walked away, leaving Kopa to cry out in pain as the hyenas bit down harder into his limbs. Asante let out an evil laugh as he heard his son's cries.

End of Nightmare

Kopa panted, sweat pouring down his face. As he panted, catching his breath, he looked at his sisters, who were sleeping on each side of him, sleeping sound. He then looked around the royal cave and saw his grandmothers sleeping on the other side of the cave. And the rest of the lionesses were scattered around the cave. Kopa let out a sigh of relief, knowing that everyone in the pride was safe. He also knew his mother and step-father were still alone together.

"That's a relief," Kopa thought to himself, wiping the sweat off his face with his paw. "Everyone's still sound asleep. Thank goodness it was only a nightmare. If it were real life, I would surely be dead by now. I'm just thankful that my father is truly dead and that was just a nightmare." With that, Kopa laid his head back in his paws to get some much-needed sleep. Kopa does not realize that in the future he will be in for a big surprise that will shock him.

A/N: Poor Kopa :(. Nightmares and flashbacks can haunt you. And sadly Kopa has not fully moved on from his brother. And if you ask me, was Scar Kopa's step-father during Scar's reign? Yes, he was. Just like Asante (Kopa's father) is Chaka's step-father. There's your answer.

By the way, the next Chapter we will be having a full chapter of Chaka! I know you guys miss him, I miss him too! I actually miss him because I don't write him as much as I do to Kopa. But hey, it is what it is.
