I do have to add I'm really sad I didn't get any reviews for the last chapter but I guess that's what happens when you leave a story as long as I left this one. Chapter 18: Mate Bond

Natsu POV

Lucy and I have been walking for about 2 hours, partly so I can clear my mind and partly so I can find the perfect place for us to be alone. I'm so nervous I can barely think straight but I know that this sadly, isn't something we can put off. If I had it my way we could wait and let things happen naturally but thanks to my dad that isn't an option. I don't want to accidentally kill one of my idiot friends after all. So here I am wandering aimlessly to try and calm myself down while I try to figure out how to best go about this; I mean really, how do I initiate a mate bond? What if I completely screw this up and she hates it and never wants me to touch her again? Am I really ready for all this?

My mind continues to race with similar thoughts until I get pulled to a sudden stop. I turn to look at Lucy but she isn't looking at me, she's looking at something else; so I follow her line of sight and see a beautiful waterfall. After a closer look I see a cave by the lake shore and I know it is the nest my Lucy has chosen for us. "I take it this is where you want our nest to be?" I ask her quietly, just to be sure but not wanting to break the feeling in the air. She turns to me with her cheeks lightly dusted with pink and a sweet smile on her lips. "Yes, it's perfect." I feel the blood run to my own cheeks at how cute she is being right now. After a moment of staring into her gorgeous brown eyes I turn away from her and start heading to the cave.

Once there I give it a quick look over and it seems nice enough but the temperature is slightly cooler here so I'm gonna have to build a fire to keep her warm. "Hey Luce, do you mind waiting here while I go get some firewood and a few other supplies. You can even go for a swim if you want. I shouldn't be too long." At first she looks as though she's going to argue with me and then at the last second she changes her mind and smiles. "Sure Natsu, go do whatever you need to. I'll be waiting right here for you, though I might be swimming. It feels like a lifetime since I last took a dip and the water just looks so inviting." I return her brilliant smile with one of my own before kissing her on the forehead and heading out to gather supplies.

When I make it back from gathering supplies I'm struck by the sight Lucy naked under the waterfall. I can't really see anything between the water and her long golden locks covering her perfectly but the one thing I can see is just how gorgeous her figure really is. I can't wait to have it beneath my finger tips.

"Oh Natsu, you're back. That didn't take long." She is now facing me, though her arm is covering her full chest. I just continue to stare at her with what I know is hunger in my eyes. The longer I stare at her the brighter her cheeks grow. "I'm sorry for my lack of dress but I only have the one outfit so I didn't want to get it wet." At her apology I turn my gaze away. "Sorry for staring, you just caught me off guard. Enjoy your swim, okay? I've got some work to do in the cave before night falls." That said I continue on my way into the cave to begin the preparations for tonight. Though I would much rather be in the water with her.

A short while later I hear Lucy make her way into the cave, water rolling off her hair and skin to the ground with each step. She stops just behind me and catch the briefest hint of her scent as a small breeze comes through the cave entrance. "What are you doing now?" Curiosity laces her voice but I can't help sounding frustrated when I answer. "What's it look like? I'm making our nest. We have to have somewhere to sleep tonight, right? It'll help keep the cool night air out so you won't get sick."

While I continue my work on our makeshift bed I hear her give a small 'oh' sound behind me before she wanders to the other side of the cave to escape the breeze. I take a deep breath in an attempt to calm myself. "Sorry if that came out harsh. I'm just wound a little tight right now and you still dripping wet from your swim isn't helping." I turn away from the supplies for the bed and make my way to the firepit I set up earlier, where Lucy is sitting quietly, and I light the fire for her with the flint I always keep on me. "This should help warm you up until I'm done and then I'll fix us something to eat ok." She looks up at me and nods. "You know I could always fix dinner while you finish what you're doing. I don't mind. you shouldn't have to do everything." I give her my best grin, "I won't stop you if that's what you wanna do but just know I don't mind taking care of you. That's what it means to be a male dragon, we provide for and protect our families, remember." The smile she gives me in response is probably the prettiest one I've seen so far. "You've already done that and so much more. I think the least I can do is watch over the fish so they don't burn." I walk over to her and give her a gentle kiss on the forehead. "Thanks Luce. I won't be much longer, I promise." That said I go back to my task of making our nest knowing that I have to hurry and finish it, because once I do I can finally claim what's mine.

Night has fallen, the fire is burning and the tension in the air is so thick you could cut it with a knife. We are currently sitting nestled together by the fire and I can't help but pull her closer to me so I can bury my nose just behind her ear where I can take in even more of her sweet scent that is surrounding us. She really is beautiful.

"Natsu, that tickles." the sweet sound of her giggling my name hits my ears and runs through me just as every other giggle this evening has. I want to hear more. I take and run my nose behind her ear again in the same way as before, earning me another giggle. That giggle gives me the confidence to try a little more. I keep my face buried in the crook of her neck and let my hands slide down her sides making her giggles stop as her body goes stiff, my hands however, don't stop until they reach her hips. Once there I run small circles on the soft skin there just beneath her shirt which gets her to relax into me yet again. "I'm not gonna lie to you Luce, I'm a little nervous but also kinda excited. Is it ok if I keep going? I can wait another couple days if you need me to." She gently shakes her head so as to not jostle me from my spot at her neck. "It's fine Natsu, I want to go ahead with it tonight. There's no point in waiting if it means even the slightest chance that you suffer even a little. I want to be yours." My breath catches in my throat at her words, my mate really is the best. "Ok. I hope you don't mind but I was thinking we could take this slow. Reduces my chances of messing up that way."

"I would appreciate that too. I'm nervous about all this too after all."

"Hmmm" I hum into her neck as my response and then I slowly let my hands slip under her shirt and make their way up her sides. As they do her breathing quickens and I feel this overwhelming urge to make her whimper out my name as she's over taken with pleasure. I will make her mine.

That thought at the forefront of my mind I start to lightly nibble the side of her neck and her ear which brings a sweet little moan from her, good. I keep going. Now to get this damn shirt off her, as much as I'd like to tear it in two I remember her saying something earlier about not having any other clothes so I opt for quickly pulling it over her head. She turns to look at me with those glazed brown eyes and I know I'm barely holding onto control but I have to. At one point I even started to wonder if you had done this before." She says her last statement with a sad undertone and I quickly grab her chin between my thumb and pointer finger to get her attention. "You are and will always be the one girl I've ever been with or even thought about being with. You are my everything. I love you and only you until the end of my days." I will not let my beautiful mate be sad the morning after creating our bond.

I don't know if it's the determined look in my eyes or the words I just said but she smiles at me the most beautiful smile I've ever seen and throws her arms around me. "I love you too Natsu, you are my forever." I wrap my own arms around her and hold her close so as to just enjoy the feel of her in my arms where she belongs. My mate.
