Alright, this chapter is short..and I want everyone to know ahead of time. I'm not gonna spend a whole lot of time on third year...least that is the plan. The fourth year will probably be longer, and rhen we have the cow known as Umbridge too deal with. I am also stuck on ideas with Snape's Defense class...because we don't really get a big visual on that. So, that will be fun. Anyway, I hope you enjoy.
This year was going to be fun, I could tell. From this Sirius Black fellow escaping from Azkaban...my mother was in a state of shock after that Prophet came. To Rita Skeeter deciding she was going to stick her nose in my business, it wouldn't be much of a shock. As now the entire United Kingdom's Wizarding World knew I was adopted by the Malfoy's. My name showed my status, and the announcement of the potion..securing me to the what Skeeter called "the most powerful" wizarding family.
It was both annoying, and pleasing. As Draco and I sat next to one another on the train, Crabbe and Goyle both still gaping at our appearance. "Bloody hell, you two could be twins!" Blaise cried when he poked his head into our car.
"Potter won't know what to say." Goyle added.
"Well if he does, Snape has taught Amelia a ton of stuff over the summer. She can hex him to hell and back." My brother spoke simply. "I guarantee after her seventh year, she will be the most powerful witch of our age."
"Draco." I smiled softly, but I couldn't say much as the train came to a screeching halt. "The hell?"
My Slytherin companions all looked at me amused. "Sis-" my brother started, before we all froze. The lights flickered before they shut off altogether. "This doesn't seem good." He muttered.
Standing calmly, I peaked my head out into the corridor. A few gazes looked at me in confusion, but for the most part everyone seemed to be looking to the front of the train like I was. As I went to withdraw back into our chosen carriage, the entire train jerked, forcing me to fall on to my brother. "What the hell, was that?" I asked softly, while Goyle closed the door.
"I think something is coming aboard." Blaise muttered, having forced his way between Crabbe and Goyle.
"Blaise is right, something is out there." Crabbe uttered, as we all looked over to see the windows beginning to ice up. The entire cart seemed to be rattling, as all of our breaths could be seen in the air. A creaking could be heard, as we turned our heads to look at the door.
"Dementors." Draco hissed, my blood ran cold as soon as the word was uttered. Dad had warned us both, that we might see them..and that they were terrifying. "They must be looking for Sirius Black."
I nodded, as the large black shadow opened the door. Its body was greyed and decayed looking, like a decomposing corpse, and its breath sounds rattling like it was trying to "suck more than air" out of a room. All the happiness seemed to disappear at once, and it felt as if I would only know pain and fear while it was there. It looked back and forth to us all, before pausing to look at me. The empty eye sockets were scabbed and slimy looking, before it seemed to take a deep raspy breath once again. Hiding my face into Draco's side, I hoped it would keep me safe..and surprisingly I was correct.
"That was bloody scary." I heard Crabbe whisper, which caused me to look back up. I stared at the boy, he looked sickened by the creature..that had occupied our space only moments ago. His cord which was normally a soft blue color, vibrated with a darker hue. I've learned to associate that with fear, in fact the entire carts were vibrating with colors...it was quite disorienting.
"I agree." I whispered.
Blaise's response to fear was crude humor. "Well at least, you have your brother to protect you….or do you protect him?"
"Very funny." Draco hissed. "I will give my last breath to protect my sister, and you know that."
"Don't forget brother, I will return the favor at any point." I told him simply, which earned me being embraced.
A knock came to our door, which had us all looking over. A tall man peaked in, he seemed kind enough..but something about his aura was off. But, at the same time it seemed he was trustworthy. "Is everyone alright here?" He asked.
"Yes, sir." I replied softly, and he smiled.
"Good, if you need anything. My name is Remus Lupin, you may come and see me. I am in cart 7 E." He told us calmly, before he disappeared.
Draco pursed his lips. "He must be our newest Defense teacher."
"Surely he will be better than the last one." I replied simply, Lockhart still disgusted me to this day. But, a bit of pride filled me as he had been found out...and his memories had been erased. Served the man right in my opinion.
Crabbe nodded. "Ya not missing the prettiest-"
"Do you want to wear vomit?" I asked.
Goyle snickered at this. "Oh come on, you have to admit. It was quite entertaining to see Snape blast him across the room."
"It's entertaining seeing Ron, trying not to piss himself everytime Snape looks in his direction." I shot back, which had every single Slytherin in the room doubled over; except my brother. I was still laying on him after all.
Draco tried to smother his laughter. "That is the best way to sum up the Weasels, facial expression."
The train returned on its way, soon after our little laugh. It was nice to smile again, the Dementor had made it seem impossible; but my brother and friends could make it better. "Oh Amelia?" Crabbe asked, gaining my attention.
"Yes." I answered.
"Draco told us, you are doubling your workload?" He asked. "Will you still have time for your lessons with Snape?"
"Yes, Snape won't let me miss my lessons." I replied simply. "Not when I'm making a lot of progress with it."
"Only a matter of time before he starts grading you on it." Goyle replied.
"If he was the Defense teacher, he probably would be." I replied simply.
"Damn, Granger would be pissed. Ya know she has trouble with defense spells." Blaise said simply.
"Maybe she will do us all a favor, and drop it during her sixth and seventh years." I replied simply. "It's bad enough I share every single class with her."
"Father will want updates with that." Draco told me flat out.
Nodding my head calmly. "He told me." Replying calmly. "Plus you know I don't keep anything from Dad."
"I know you are the Malfoy Princess." Draco teased, while running fingers through my hair.
'Don't you ever forget it.' I shot at him, while smirking.
He returned it. "Oh I won't. You also have the smirk down, Potter and his possy won't know what to do….or who you are."
"Did you just speak to him telepathically?" Blaise asked.
Turning to him calmly, I focused on the orange cord gripping on to him. 'Yes.'
He jumped before grinning. "We can surely mess with Potter's head, if we answer you without you speaking." He started snickering at the idea. "This will be so much fun."
"Also, what Potter doesn't know is I grew up with him. I can see his aura easily, so he won't be sneaking around." I grinned. "I can easily let Snape see anything."
"Ooh….that will be fun." Draco chuckled.
We all snickered and laughed, the rest of the way to the castle. Separating only, to go to our respected tables for the beginning of the year feast. Heads kept turning at the Gryffindor table, as I sat down. Confusion on all of their faces, I really did look like Draco so it made sense.
"Malfoy? Why are you here?" Seamus asked, well more like demanded.
I raised an eyebrow with confusion. "Because, I am a Gryffindor." I replied, their eyes went huge at this reveal.
"Swan?" Potter asked.
"It's Malfoy now." I replied simply. "Amelia Rose Malfoy."
Fred and George grinned. "The blood adoption did wonders on you!" The latter spoke happily.
"Yeah you look good, happy, healthy." Fred agreed. "Are you sleeping in the tower?"
"No, I'm staying with Professor McGonagall." I replied calmly, my eyes focusing on Granger. "I've been burned once, and it won't happen again."
Her brown eyes narrowed at me. "I never burned you."
"Sneaking about in the middle of the night, to cut another student's hair..it was low." I replied to her simply. "Now, Granger you and I share every single class together. We need to try to be civil." She turned back to her friends at that, before we finished the feast and went to bed. It was a Monday night after all.
Turns out we were all correct in Remus..or Professor Lupin was the new DADA teacher, but none of that mattered at the moment. Currently I sat with Izzy in my Divination class, as promised to Professor Snape I took this class.
"Welcome, my children. In this room, you shall explore the
mysterious art of Divination. In this room, you shall discover if you possess….the sight." The crazy woman spoke, when I say crazy I meant it seemed she was out of it. "Hello class, I am Professor Trelawney...together we shall cast ourselves into the future…" Her eyes locked with mine. "But know this, one either has this Gift.."She shifted her gaze, and I followed them to Granger. "Or not, it cannot be divined from the pages of a book."
She was crazy but I liked her. "Interesting."
"The first term will be devoted to the reading of tea leaves." Professor Trelawney continued, locking eyes with me once again. "If all goes well, we will proceed to palmistry, fire omens, and finally Crystal ball."
My hand shot up, and she nodded to me. "Will we be discussing auras, and crystals?"
"We will, but that will come if you continue on with me for a third and fourth term…." She went quiet eying me, before turning to Parvati. "Beware of a red haired man."
I watched as Pavarti moved away from Ron, but something told me it wasn't him. "I don't think it's him…." I muttered aloud.
Professor Trelawney turned back to me quickly, instantly intrigued. "Oh, you are Amelia Swan...now Malfoy?"
"Yes ma'am." I replied.
"Professors Snape and Dumbledore, both assured me I would see much of you during your remaining years. I am pleasantly surprised at this outcome…" She went silent for a moment, before her eyes widened. "But please dear child, your life will hold many questionable decisions...but your love will be safe in the end."
"My what?" I asked, and she just smiled while turning back to the class.
"Alright, let us get to work." She smiled. "Look into your friends cups."
Taking Izzy's cup, my eyes narrowed as I saw an anchor and chain. Looking up to my Ravenclaw acquaintance, I saw whatever she saw had her troubled. "What is it?" I asked.
Trelawney walked over to us. "Amelia, would you like to go first."
"Ah yes." I replied softly. "I see that Izzy here, will have a series of events..that may cause a difficult change."
"Very good." The Professor said, while gently taking the cup from me. "Yes..very good…"
Izzy was silent. "I apologize Professor, but Amelia's has at least three symbols in her cup. I see a skull that is the only thing that is truly prominent. Which means, danger is in her path."
Trelawney took the cup calmly, smiling softly at Izzy. She wasn't rude, letting the girl know she was taking over to help. "Lets see..yes Amelia child. You hold many trials that will lead you to a danger, and I see many attacks upon your person." She looked troubled, before a smile found her face. "But, once your deadly enemy has been defeated...great happiness will find you."
0.o.0
I was already tired of Granger, Ancient Runes was simple enough..and luckily Draco and I shared that one. But, by Merlin the bushy haired girl was annoying. 'Draco, I have to get all O's.'
"Why?" He asked, gaining a few strange looks.
'To rub Granger's nose into it.' I replied simply, as we were packing up..heading to Hagrids new class. "Please try to be civil."
"I will." He pouted, but we followed after the man.
As we walked I could hear Granger huffing about Divination. "Death Omens. Honestly. If you ask me, Divination is a very wooly discipline." She groaned, and I couldn't help but glare at her..it became darker as she started to mock the teacher.
"I'm gonna hex the hell out of her." I hissed to my brother.
"Why don't you get in her head?" Goyle asked, having heard me as well.
I looked at him, then looked back at Granger. "Hmmm…." I hummed softly, before allowing myself to focus. The girl's cord was easy to picture, and when it glowed a pale lilac..I went for it. 'Granger.'
She looked back in confusion, but I averted my eyes. "Did you say something?" She asked.
"No." I replied. 'Draco, you know Snape may not be pleased.'
"Or he might find it interesting." My brother replied, before we passed the golden trip to walk to class. "I promise not to lose my cool today, I know you are quite fond of Hagrid."
"Thank you." I replied simply, though something told me not to believe him.
