Savethemadscientist: He's more likely to open up to her than his own brother.
NicoleR85: Sorry about that. I decided it needed a better title.
After Dean helped save Gordon from the vampires, they were back at the bar, sitting around a table with some drinks. "No, no, I got it", Gordon said when Dean got out his wallet to pay the waitress. He handed some money to her and she walked off. Gordon raised his shot glass "Another one bites the dust", he said.
"That's right", Dean agreed. The pair drank the shots while Sam sat there, his hand gently grasping Clary's from under the table. Even though she didn't show it, he knew that she was affected by that vampire's death. Could it be that she knew of some vampires? It was entirely possible. After all her family did consist of werewolves, warlocks and psychics.
"Dean. You gave that big-ass fang one hell of a haircut, my friend", Gordon remarked with a laugh.
"Excuse me", Clary said, getting up from the table and walked toward the main doors. Sam was quick to follow her.
"You know, you probably shouldn't be bringing your friend along if she can't handle it", Gordon said to Dean.
"She can handle it fine", the Older Winchester stated defensively before going after his brother and soulmate.
"You ok?" Sam asked Clary when they got outside.
"Yeah, I'm fine", the ginger replied "just didn't particularly want a recount of what just happened". It wasn't the first violent death she'd seen sadly despite her mother and step father's efforts. She knew it was all part of the world they lived in. But that didn't mean she wanted to chat about it over several shots of alcohol.
"I know", Sam said.
"Everything alright out here?" Dean questioned, joining them.
"Everything is fine", Clary assured him "I think I'm gonna go back to the motel, call it a night".
"I'll come with you", Sam offered "not up to drinking anyway".
"I'm gonna stay for a bit longer", Dean said, giving Sam the keys to the Impala "don't do anything I wouldn't do", he added quietly to his brother making him roll his eyes.
As soon as they got inside the motel room, Clary went straight for the bathroom muttering about the need to have a shower. She pushed the door closed behind her but she didn't quite do it properly so the door opened a little, giving Sam a glimpse of her taking off her shirt.
He should be turning away. It was wrong to keep looking, he knew that but it was hard to tear his eyes away from the sight in front of him. Sam let out a shaky breath as she moved away from the door and the shower started up. He was going to need a cold shower after seeing that…a very cold shower. Sam went over to one of the beds, grabbing one of the books on the way.
He tried to get himself lost in the pages but his mind kept drifting back to the sight of Clary's bare back…skin that was probably very soft to the touch…
Argh! Stop it! He mentally scolded himself, smacking his forehead with the book. "Hey! Don't do that!" Clary exclaimed running over to him and snatching the book out of his hands "why would you do that?" she asked, brushing his fringe back to see if he'd hurt himself.
"I…I…was trying to stop myself from thinking", Sam stammered, trying to ignore how his heart had started to race at the closeness of his soulmate and how good her fingers felt as they went through his hair.
"Thinking about what?" Clary asked sitting back a little.
"You", Sam admitted.
"You were braining yourself with a book to stop thinking about me?" Clary questioned not sure whether to be amused or insulted.
"I saw you…in the bathroom", Sam blurted out "t-the door wasn't closed properly and I know I shouldn't have but I just couldn't help myself then I got all these thoughts about your skin and how soft it might be…" Clary cut off his rambling by kissing him.
"Its ok, Sam", she said softly, pulling back "I'm not mad".
"You're not?" Sam asked.
"If I were mad, do you think I would've kissed you, dummy?" Clary questioned with a laugh.
Sam chuckled "No, I guess not", he said "can we do that again?"
"Sure", Clary answered and Sam pressed his lips against hers.
"We probably shouldn't tell Dean about this", he said when they eventually parted "he called dibs after we first met you".
Clary giggled at that "Don't worry, I wont tell him", she promised "I'm gonna get a soda. Do you want anything?" she asked.
"No, I'm good", Sam replied.
Clary smiled as she stepped out of the motel room, feeling rather…giddy. For the first time in a while she felt happy. She strolled over to the vending machine and brought her can of soda. As she walked back to the room, can in hand, the ginger paused. She was getting the sense that someone was watching her. Clary gripped the soda tighter and started to walk a little bit faster. She almost made it to the room when she was grabbed from behind!
"Sam!" she managed to scream before a hand was roughly clapped over her mouth. Sam rushed out of the motel room only to be clocked hard in the face. He fell to the ground, unconscious.
The next thing either of them knew, they were bound and gagged with bags over their heads. The bags were pulled off to reveal the bartender that Clary had spoken to. He advanced on the ginger, his fangs bared. Sam protested from around the gag, struggling against the ropes holding him to the chair. "Such a pretty little thing", the male vampire remarked, touching Clary's face that only served to make Sam more angry "your boyfriend doesn't like that, does he?"
"Step back, Eli", a woman ordered, appearing in the doorway. Eli, moves away from Clary, his fangs retracting. The woman walked over and removed the gags from both Sam and Clary's mouths. "My name's Lenore", she said, introducing herself "I'm not going to hurt you. We just need to talk".
"Talk?" Sam scoffed "Yeah, okay, but I might have a tough time paying attention to much besides Eli touching Clary" he glanced at his soulmate "you ok?"
"Yeah. Fine", Clary answered.
"Eli isn't going to harm either of you. You have my word", Lenore assured the pair.
"Your word? Oh yeah, great, thanks. Listen lady, no offense but you're not the first vampire I've met", Sam said sarcastically. He was still on edge with how that vamp had the nerve to touch what wasn't his. He was definitely itching to kill him for that.
"We're not like the others. We don't kill humans, and we don't drink their blood. We haven't for a long time", Lenore explained.
"Really?" Clary asked, interested "I've heard about vampires who try to live off of animal blood. Thought it was some kind of joke".
"It's not", Lenore said.
"So you're responsible for the cattle mutilations", Sam stated.
"It's not ideal, in fact it's disgusting. But - it allows us to get by", Lenore explained "to survive so that people like the two of you don't come looking for people like us".
"Why are we explaining ourselves to them?" Eli demanded "We choke on cow's blood so that none of them suffer. Tonight they murdered Conrad and they celebrated!"
"Eli, that's enough", Lenore snapped.
"Yeah, Eli, that's enough", Sam repeated.
"What's done is done. We're leaving this town tonight", the female vampire continued.
"Then why did you bring us here? Why are you even talking to us?" Sam questioned.
"Believe me, I'd rather not", Lenore replied "But I know your kind. Once you have the scent you'll keep tracking us. It doesn't matter where we go. Hunters will find us".
"No they wouldn't", Clary said "I know someone who can help. He can take you somewhere you'll be safe and not have to worry about being hunted".
"And why should we believe you?" Eli sneered "you're a hunter".
"Hardly", Clary scoffed.
"Who is this person?" Lenore asked.
"Magnus Bane", the ginger replied. Lenore and Eli exchanged surprised looks.
"You know Magnus?" Lenore questioned and Clary nodded.
"Yes, he's my godfather", she said "I can call him and he'll whisk you away to a safe haven. I promise".
Eli took Lenore aside "how do you know we can trust her?" he hissed "she might just be saying that to lead us into a trap".
"Or she could be telling the truth", Lenore said quietly "think about it Eli, our family could be finally safe. I'm willing to take that chance" she walked over to Clary and removed the rope "I'm going to let the pair of you go if I have your word that you will call Magnus Bane".
"The second we get to our motel, I will", Clary promised "and I'll get him to meet at the bar where you work Eli".
"Very well", Lenore said and freed Sam "take them back but not a mark on either of them", she ordered to Eli. Bags were put back over Sam and Clary's heads before they were escorted out to te truck.
As soon as they were out of the truck and free, Sam hugged Clary tightly. "You ok?" he asked her.
"I'm fine", Clary replied. He took hold of her hand and walked into the motel room.
"Where you been?" Dean asked. He'd been pretty worried about the pair, especially their soulmate as his soul mark had been giving him a little bit of discomfort during their absence. Though now she was there, it settled down.
"Can we talk to you alone?" Sam requested.
"You mind chillin' out for a couple minutes?" Dean asked, looking at Gordon.
"Sure", the man replied. Dean then left with Sam and Clary.
"Dean, maybe we've got to rethink this hunt", Sam stated.
"What are you talking about? Where were you?" Dean demanded.
"The vampires kidnapped us and took us to the nest", Clary replied.
"What?!" Dean exclaimed "are you alright? Did they hurt you?"
"No, I'm fine. They didn't touch me", Clary quickly assured him, grabbing his hands to stop him from checking her over for injuries.
"One of them did", Sam reminded her and she shot him a look, telling him to shut up.
"Did you kill it?" Dean asked his brother.
Sam shook his head "No. I didn't", he answered.
"Why the hell not!" Dean exclaimed "one of those things touched our soulmate and you didn't kill it!"
"There's a reason he didn't", Clary spoke up "the vampires are different. They don't kill people, they drink animal blood to survive".
"And you believed them?" Dean asked "Sam, where's the nest?"
"We had bags over our heads. Couldn't see a thing", Sam replied.
"But you must've heard something. A sound to give away where it is", Dean pressed.
"We went over a bridge outside of town", Sam told him.
"But it doesn't matter where they are because I've already made a deal with them. I'm gonna call Magnus and he's going to get them somewhere where they'll be safe", Clary added.
"You've got to be kidding me!" Dean complained "you don't make deals with vamps! They're monsters!"
"These ones aren't. They drink…" Clary started
"Animal blood. I heard you the first time", Dean interrupted "They lied to you. They're killing people, it's what vampires do. Gordon's been on them for a year, man, he knows".
"You're taking a complete stranger's word over us?" Clary asked.
"Sorry, Clary but like I said, he's been on this a lot longer than we have", Dean repeated "So I'm gonna trust his word".
"Fine but I'm not helping you hunt them down", Clary said "what I'm going to do is keep my word to Lenore". The young woman walked back to their motel room only to find that Gordon was gone! "He's gone after them", the ginger stated angrily.
"We have to stop him", Sam added.
"Definitely", Clary agreed. She picked up her phone from the table and dialled her godfather. After a quick conversation with the Warlock, he agreed to meet them.
When they eventually arrived at the farmhouse, the nest where the vampires were staying with Magnus in tow, Gordon was already torturing Lenore. "That's enough of that", the Warlock said and with a wave of his hand, Lenore was standing beside Sam and Gordon was bound to the chair, tape over his mouth.
"Thank you", the female vampire said, swaying on the spot as the dead man's blood was still in her system.
"Lets get you healed up, my dear", Magnus said, supporting the vampire and leading her out of the building. He was quick to deal with the wounds Gordon inflicted on her and then opened up a portal "on the other side of this is your safe haven", he told the vampires.
Lenore smiled at Clary "Thank you, Clary", she said, grateful that the human had given them the benefit of the doubt "we will be in your debt".
"There's no need", Clary assured her "just promise me you'll all have good lives in your new home".
"We will", Lenore promised. She stepped through the portal and one by one, the vampires followed her.
"Thanks for this Magnus", the ginger said to her godfather, giving him a hug.
"Any time biscuit", Magus said "and you two…" he turned to the brothers "look after our Clary".
"Don't worry Magnus, we will", Sam said putting an arm around Clary.
"Definitely", Dean agreed. The Warlock smiled at the trio, knowing his goddaughter was in good hands with the boys. He stepped through the portal and it vanished. "I shouldn't have trusted Gordon over you and Sam, Clary. You were right about the vampires. I'm sorry", Dean said apologetically after the Warlock had gone.
"Its ok. You've been so used to it being black and white that this, along with my family has made it a little more complicated", Clary said "it takes some time getting used to".
"Yeah…don't I know it", Dean admitted "can you forgive me?" Clary glanced at Sam before lightly kissing Dean on the lips. "I take that as a yes?" the older Winchester asked.
"What do you think?" Clary counter questioned with a smile and hugged him. Dean grinned at his brother over her shoulder. Sam could only roll his eyes at how proud he looked. Though he smiled to himself that he was the one Clary actually kissed first.
