Chapter 18: Mirror Madness
Hey everyone I'm back with a new chapter. Sorry about the wait, this one took a little bit of time to figure out. This is a little bit of a backstory to an original idea in this story. I hope you like what I have planned. Please Review and Enjoy.
We find ourselves in Royal Palace where an 8-year-old Arkayna was walking down the hall with Queen Goodfey.
"Arkayna today we're going to meet someone who will be a great ally for the Royal family and the Mysticons should they ever return." Queen Goodfey said.
"Who?" Arkayna asks.
"You see when the original Mysticons battled Necrafa she had easily overwhelmed them with her superior numbers until one day a man named Lord Casterwill and his army of Seekers joined the battle and with their help the Mysticons were able to defeat Necrafa. And that's who we're going to meet right now." Queen Goodfey explains.
"Lord Casterwill? How can he be any help if he was alive during the time of the first Mysticons?" Arkayna raises an eyebrow.
"Not the Lord Casterwill, his descendant." Queen Goodfey said opening the door to reveal LeBlanche and an 8-year-old Sophie waiting inside.
"Arkayna meet Sophie Casterwill." Queen Goodfey introduces.
"It's nice to meet you." Sophie said walking over.
"So wait, for over a thousand years you guys have been preparing for if the Evil ever came back?" Arkayna asks.
"Exactly." Sophie nods causing Arkayna to giggle. "What's so funny?"
"Sorry it just seems pretty sad that for over a thousand years your family has been preparing for a battle that might never happen." Arkayna said.
"Excuse me?" Sophie raises her eyebrow.
"Arkayna don't be rude." Queen Goodfey said.
"But Mom, Necrafa was destroyed by the Mysticons which means we have no need for Mysticons or Seekers anymore." Arkayna said.
"Well, I believe that is better to be prepared for danger should it ever come than to be ignorant of the world around you." Sophie snaps.
"Excuse me?" Arkayna glares.
"You heard me princess. You better watch yourself because if the evil ever returns you better pray they don't find you because I don't see you lasting very long." Sophie said as both girls glared each other down with hatred in their eyes.
Flashback End:
In a snowy mountain range, an explosion went off as running out of the opening the explosion created Ryou and Musa ran out first with Piper, Arkayna and Sophie right behind them and in Piper's hand looked like a red mirror on a black stand that allowed it to spin.
"Did we lose them?" Musa asks as they turned around to see a group of tribal warriors chasing after them.
"No we didn't!" Ryou panics.
"Wow they really want to keep this artifact." Piper said looking to the mirror.
"Well we need it more." Sophie said.
Musa looks down and sees large blocks of ice. "Guys I got an idea. Jump!" Musa yells as she leaps off and smashes down on a block and rides down the mountain on it like a snowboard.
Looking to each other Piper and Ryou nod before following her lead and landing on the blocks sliding down them.
"Whoo! This is awesome!" Piper cheers.
Sophie and Arkayna ran to follow when a tribal warrior threw a bolo tying up Arkayna's legs causing her to tumble into Sophie and they both fell onto the block of ice and slide down the mountain.
"Get off of me! This isn't a carpool!" Sophie said struggling to push her off.
"I would if I could!" Aakayna said trying to get her legs free. "Boltflare!"
She aimed her hands at the bolo but before the blast was fires Sophie elbows her off causing Arakayna's hand to shoot up and hit the upper snow causing a large avalanche.
When they heard the rumbling the 5 of them scream in horror as the large amount of snow came down towards them.
"Save us Vigilante!" Ryou yells quickly as the snow came down on top of them.
Back at the Mysticon base, Zarya and Em were watching Doug as he was playing video games against Tecna.
"Yes! I'm finally gonna win!" Doug cheers when Tecna presses a button and the game over sign appeared in front of him. "NO!"
"Sorry Doug but I don't think video games are for you." Tecna said when the door swung open.
Turning around they saw Ryou shivering while Piper and Musa were clinging to him for dear life.
"By the Hammer of Harmon." Em gasps.
"Whoa, what happened to you guys?" Zarya asks.
"A mountain of snow came down on us." Ryou shivers.
"So not fabtaculor." Piper shivers.
"If Ryou didn't call out Vigilante we would have been buried alive." Musa shivers as Ryou handed Em the mirror which she immediately put down a table.
"Alright girls I think you can let go him now." Zarya said trying to pull Piper off but she didn't budge.
"I can't. I can't feel my fingers." Piper said.
Musa looks to Ryou and even though she was frozen to him she had to admit she kinda like him holding her.
"How did this happen?" Tecna asks when from behind Sophie and Arkayna storm in arguing.
"This is all your fault! You're lucky we managed to get the artifact before you ruined everything!" Sophie snaps.
"My fault?! If you hadn't elbowed me, we wouldn't have had to worry about the avalanche!" Arkayna snaps.
"Oh no, they're at it again." Zarya groans.
"I always knew you would never last. Even if you're a Mysticon you're useless." Sophie points.
"And what's that supposed to mean?" Arkayna glares.
"Oh please, ever since you became the Dragon Mage it's been one disaster after another and frankly we're all getting tired of having to clean up your messes." Sophie blames.
"My messes?" Arkayna gasps.
"Girls maybe you should calm down." Ryou suggests.
"Stay outta this!" Sophie and Arkayna snaps making them all back up.
"Name one time." Arkayna dares.
"How about Gawayne's Coronation where we had to teach you to fight like a Seeker after you wasted all your powers showing off at the party because you weren't invited?" Sophie points out.
"Gawayne had it coming." Arkayna said.
"And let's not forget when you left us to fight Necrafa and her army all by ourselves while you went swimming." Sophie said.
"I needed to save my parents!" Arkayna said.
"It's always something that's yours. My parents, my Codex Piece, my amulets, mine, mine, mine!" Sophie mocks.
"Well excuse me but I don't see you saying how you've suffered through this." Arkayna said.
"You're right I didn't suffer, because I was prepared. Maybe if you weren't so ignorant you wouldn't be in this position." Sophie said.
"Are you calling me a lousy Dragon Mage?" Arkayna asks.
"If the tacky shoes fit." Sophie said.
"Say that again." Arakyna grinds her teeth.
"If the tacky shoes fit." Sophie repeats.
"Okay Casterwill." Arkayna said as she tackles Sophie to the ground and the two of them fought.
"Not again!" Em panics as they rolled around on the ground banging into the table causing the mirror to fall and the lens got the reflections of both Sophie and Arkayna.
"Hey!" Dante ran in and grabbed the two girls pulling them apart. "What is going on here?!"
"She started it!" They both said.
"I don't care who started it! I'm finishing it!" Dante snaps. "Now listen, we're a team and we need to start acting like it. You two wanna act like kids I'm gonna treat you like kids. To your rooms now!" Dante points
"What?" They both snapped before glaring at each other as they left.
"Whoa Dante, you can be a tough parent." Zarya said.
"You have to be when you raise a Seeker." Dante smirks.
"Uh guys I'm sorry to interrupt but Ryou, Musa and Piper are starting to turn blue." Em points.
"They're either cold or losing feeling in their arms, either way we should probably help them." Tecna said.
"Hang on kids." Dante said running over.
While they tried to save Piper, Musa and Ryou none of them noticed the mirror started to spin faster and faster and glow.
That night as everyone slept the mirror fired two lights that shot down the halls, one hitting Sophie and the other hitting Arkayna which caused their spirits to change bodies. Sophie going into Arkayna's body and Arkayna going into Sophie's body.
The next morning Sophie/ Arkayna woke up letting out a yawn. Rubbing her eyes, she climbed out of bed. Reaching to her bedside table she expected to touch her amulet but felt nothing.
"Huh?" Sophie/ Arkayna looks around confused. "Why am I in Arkayna's room? Did I sleepwalk last night?"
Walking to the bathroom, Sophie/ Arkayna went to wash her face.
In Sophie's room, Arkayna/ Sophie got out of bed and yawned walking to the bathroom to brush her teeth but when both girls looked to see the other both of them screamed in shock and horror.
Running out of their rooms both girls ran down the hall and ended up seeing themselves.
"What's going on?! Why are you in my body?!" Both girls ask at the same time.
"Oh my goblin this cannot be happening. Pinch me, I have to be dreaming." Arkayna/ Sophie said as Sophie/ Arkayna punched her shoulder. "Ouch! I said pinch not punch."
"I gave you what you needed." Sophie/ Arkayna said.
"Well now let me see if you're dreaming." Arkayna/ Sophie said punching back.
"Alright knock it off. If I'm gonna beat you up I'd rather do it when I'm in my body and not when I look like this." Sophie/ Arkayna said.
"Alright fine…wait, what's wrong with the way I look?" Arkayna/ Sophie asks.
"Trust me you don't want to look under that rock." Sophie/ Arkayna said. "Now what happened that could have caused this?"
"Well we came back from the mission, we fought and Dante split us up." Arkayna/ Sophie said.
"Maybe he knows what happened." Sophie/ Arkayna said.
"Wait. Should we tell the others about this?" Arkayna/ Sophie asks.
"Absolutely not, I want to fix this as quick and easily as possible." Sophie/ Arkayna said.
"For once I agree with you. Imagine how Em would take this." Arkayna/ Sophie said as they went down the hall.
In his room, Dante took out his holotome and held up the mirror to it.
"Yep, here's the reason. There's a titan in this artifact and a very powerful one." Dante said as an image of a titan with a large mirror for a body appeared on screen. "Divine Mirror Kagami, special powers include reflection of enemy abilities and attacks, but in the case of you two it reflected your spirits and put them in the body of the other."
"Whoa, that's crazy." Arkayna/ Sophie said.
"Do you have any idea how to reverse it?" Sophie asks.
"If the titan is the cause of it all you need to do is bond with it and it can put you back in your original bodies." Dante theorized.
"Perfect." Both girls said reaching for the mirror at the same time.
"What are you doing?" Arkayna/ Sophie asks.
"Trying to bond with the titan so we can normal again. Obviously I'm the best choice." Sophie/ Arkayna said.
"Hello, I'm the Leader of the Mysticons. I should get the titan." Arkayna/ Sophie said.
"And I have the most experience, so I should get it." Sophie/ Arkayna said.
'Not again. Ryou was never this difficult.' Dante thought.
"You'd probably mess up like you always do." Sophie/ Arkayna said.
"Why do you keep thinking I don't take this seriously? I am more than ready for this titan." Arkayna/ Sophie said.
"Alright that's it." Dante said pulling the mirror away. "Until you two come to an agreement about who should get the titan you can just stay in each other's bodies for the time being." Dante said.
"What?!" Both girls said.
"You heard me, so you better make peace and figure something out." Dante said pointing them both to the door. "Thank goodness I never had a daughter."
In Arkayna's room, both girls were sitting down.
"So Casterwill any bright ideas? Or are you just gonna sit around and wait like your family always does?" Arkayna/ Sophie glares.
"You know Arkayna, I just figured out the perfect way to settle this. I am gonna make you say I can have the titan." Sophie/ Arkayna said standing up.
"Oh yeah, how do you plan to do that?" Arkayna/ Sophie asks.
"Like this." Sophie/ Arkayna ran out the door.
"Wait. Come back with my body!" Arkayna/ Sophie said running after her.
Following her to the main room, Arkayna/ Sophie gasps to see Sophie/ Arkayna walking up to Malvaron who was reading some Astromancer texts.
"Hey there." Sophie/ Arkayna said changing her voice to mimic the real Arkayna.
"Hey uh is something wrong with your voice? Sounds a little weird." Malvaron noticed.
"Nothing to worry about. I just thought since things were so slow, we could hangout." Sophie/ Arkayna said causing Arkaya/ Sophie to gasp.
"She wouldn't." Arkayna/ Sophie said.
"Oh you mean like go to the Undercity with everyone?" Malvaron asks.
"Yes we could do something like that. Or it could just be you and me." Sophie/ Arkayna flirts surprising Malvaron.
"Wait what?" Malvaron said when Arkayna/ Sophie ran in and grabbed her.
"Sorry Malvaron, Arkayna's not thinking straight." Arakyna/ Sophie said pulling her down the hall before slamming her against the wall. "What the heck was that?!"
"Didn't like seeing me hit on your crush?" Sophie/ Arkayna smirks.
"What? Crush? N-No Malvaron is just a friend, he's our Soalann." Arkayna/ Sophie said nervously fidgeting with her hair.
"Oh wow you are so pathetic." Sophie/ Arkayna rolls her eyes.
"Listen stop flirting with Malvaron in my body." Arkayna/ Sophie said.
"Then let me bond with the titan or I am gonna ruin your life." Sophie said.
"Oh you wanna play like that Sophie, well two can play at that game." Arkayna/ Sophie said pushing her and running down the hall.
"Get back here princess!" Sophie/ Arkayna said chasing after her.
On the balcony, Ryou was swinging the Willblade trying to get used to his new weapon before taking a small breather.
"It's gonna take me a while to get used to fighting with just one sword now." Ryou said drinking a bottle of water when Arkayna/ Sophie saw him and grinned at the thought of payback.
"Hey Ryou." Arkayna/ Sophie said trying to change her voice to sound more like Sophie.
"Oh hey Sophie." Ryou said as Arkayna/ Sophie sat next to him. "So what do I owe the pleasure?"
"Oh no reason just wanted to see you." Arkayna/ Sophie said as Sophie/ Arkayna ran down the hall and saw them.
"She better not lay a finger on him." Sophie/ Arkayna growls.
"Well I really appreciate it Sophie, I think I'm getting better with the—" Before Ryou could finish Arakyna/ Sophie leans in and kisses him on the cheek causing Ryou to blush while Sophie/ Arkayna grinds her teeth in anger.
"HOW DARE YOU!" Arkayna/ Sophie looks and sees Sophie/ Arkayna leap in and tackle her to the ground.
"Whoa! Arkayna what are you doing?!" Ryou asks standing up.
"You better hold onto that Willblade tightly or else this girl is gonna get it!" Sophie/ Arkayna said grabbing Arkayna/ Sophie causing the two of them to wrestle around the balcony before they both ended up falling in the fountain getting soaked to the bone.
"Alright enough!" Ryou said swinging the Willblade creating a blade of energy that forced both girls to let go and separate. "For crying out loud, what is wrong with you two?! Look I don't know why you two hate each other so much but have you ever tried sitting down and talking out your problems?! This is getting insane!" Ryou said.
"But Ryou—"
"But nothing, look at yourselves." Ryou said as both girls realized he was right, they were soaking wet fighting in a fountain because they were fighting over who should get the titan that made them switch bodies because they fought yesterday.
"You know what you two work this out. There are some strategies even I can't figure out." Ryou said grabbing the Willblade and walking out.
"Ryou's right, Arkayna look us. We've been all day and this what we've been reduced too." Sophie/ Arkayna said as they got out of the fountain and sat down.
"If my mom could see me right now she'd be so ashamed." Arkayna/ Sophie said.
"I'm not exactly living up to the Casterwill name right now either." Sophie/ Arkayna admits.
"We could have been friends that day we met, but because of my stupid mouth I ruined it all. Yet even when I was so wrong you came to help." Arkayna/ Sophie said.
"Because I'm a Seeker. I trained my whole life to help the Mysticons and you told me I was wasting my life preparing for a battle that would never happen, but now that it is happening you never even apologized for that day." Sophie/ Arkayna said as Arkayna/ Sophie looked at her and frowned realizing she was right.
"I'm sorry Sophie. You really are an amazing Seeker for putting up with us…especially me." Arkayna/ Sophie said.
"Well I guess if I had lost my parents the way you lost yours and had to put up with all the stress of trying to save them I'd be worried all the time too." Sophie/ Arkayna said.
"Don't forget my stupid stepbrother." Arkayna/ Sophie points out causing both girls to giggle.
"You know what Arkayna, you can have the titan." Sophie/ Arkayna said surprising her.
"Seriously? Even after what I just pulled?" Arkayna/ Sophie asks.
"Yes, as a reminder of the day we finally put aside our stupid childhood squabble and became real teammates." Sophie/ Arkayna smiles holding out her hand. "Friends?"
Arkayna/ Sophie looks at her and smiles shaking it. "Friends."
"But I mean it, don't you even think about kissing Ryou again." Sophie/ Arkayna glares.
"You can have him, I don't want him." Arkayna/ Sophie said.
"Good." She grins taking care of that problem.
In Dante's room, Arkayna/ Sophie was standing in front of the mirror.
"Alright this is gonna be like when you got Freelancer or Melee Artist. Powerful titans like Divine Mirror Kagami are harder to bond with so concentrate." Sophie/ Arkayna said.
"Okay." Arkayna/ Sophie said holding out her hand to try and bond with the titan causing a bright light to emerge from the mirror showing the titan was putting up a struggle. "Come on, bond."
"You can do it Arkayna, do it! Do it for the Mysticons, Drake City, the Comsoverse, do it for Queen Goodfey." Sophie/ Arkayna said causing a determined look to appear on her face as Arkayna/ Sophie successfully pulled the amulet from the mirror. "You did it!"
"Reflect, Divine Mirror Kagami!" Arkayna/ Sophie said as a long-haired, red-cloaked titan with a giant mirror for a chest appeared.
Holding up the mirror, Divine Mirror Kagami reflects Sophie and Arkayna putting their spirts back in their original bodies.
"I did it. I'm me again!" Arkayna smiles.
"Me too!" Sophie smiles as both girls jump and down cheering.
"Thank you Sophie. Now we can save the realm." Arkayna said.
"You're welcome, but now we have something more important to do first." Sophie said getting her attention. "We have to find your parents."
Smiling Arkayna and Sophie hug finally becoming friends after so many years of hate.
Little did they know Dante was watching them with a smile on his face.
