Luke looked at Zach and said "Hey man"
Zach looked at him with a smirk on his face
"Hey Logan, what's up man?"
Cammie rolled her eyes and kept looking at the textbook that she had out ignoring Zach's clear ignorant remark.
"Uh it's Luke actually and I'm good I was just asking to get tutored by Cammie here."
Zach laughed of course this idiot would use this as a stupid excuse to get close to Cammie. Which reminded him of why he was here in the first place.
"Oh yeah Cammie, we're supposed to bring you back to dinner."
"Whose we? I was on my way once I saw the time. haha" She replied.
"Uh, Bex is in the building looking for you already we should let her know that you're okay." Zach replied while looking at Luke.
"You guys are going to dinner together?" Luke asked curious.
"Yeah, haha our group of friends gets all together about 1-2x times a week sometimes for dinner" Cammie quickly explained to Luke.
Cammie then stopped and thought about it. Why am I explaining myself to Luke? Zach on the other hand was slightly annoyed that Cammie was so quick to explain herself.
Zach nudged Cammie reminding her that it was 100% time to go. She looked up at Luke and said
"Hey, if you need any help with anything just shoot me an email or text alright?" she replied while grabbing Zach's hand to drag him out of there.
Bex came out of the building at that moment in time
"MY LORD CAMMIE, for crying out loud where in the flipping world have you been?!"
"sorry Bex I was studying and I got distracted and forgot to check the time" she said sheepishly.
Luke was watching this whole interaction, but was still staring at Zach and Cammie's intertwined hands. Zach saw that he was noticing their hands and smirked.
"Let's go everyone else is waiting at the restaurant. See you around Logan."
Walking away with Cammie and Bex from Luke he was satisfied, but couldn't help recalling what he heard of Cammie and Luke's conversation. Was he really about to ask her out? Is she interested in him? Why was she tutoring him? Boy this dude had nerve and if he wanted a fight that's what he'll get. After all Zach wasn't the #1 heartthrob of America for no reason right?
Suddenly Cammie came to a halt.
"Zach why did you keep calling him the wrong name even though you clearly know his right one?" Cammie asked with a slight annoyance.
"You're kidding right Cam?" Bex stated clearly amused.
Zach looked at Cammie wondering how on Earth one of the smartest girls he knows is so clueless about life and about the guy who was clearly about to ask her out?
"No seriously Zach I'm not kidding that was rude! He's never done anything to you before"
"Cammie, the guy was clearly hitting on you and you can't even see it" He replied a little angrily.
"So? It's not like you're my boyfriend. We tried once and that was not how it was supposed to turn out." she replied.
Bex realized where this conversation was headed and immediately said
"hey guys we're in public. Given the situation and the fact that Zach is who he is maybe we should't do this here and now."
"No if she wants it done here and now it's what she's going to get from me Bex" Zach replied.
Cammie looked at Zach expecting an explanation and lowkey an apology.
"Cammie, I'm not the one who has any explaining to do. You're the one who didn't want to give us a chance"
"No, nuh uh. no way Zach this is not all on me. No way in hell can you just pin all of the things that went wrong on me. That's not fair." She replied while shaking her head.
"Alright if you two want to do this here and now can we at least wait until we get into the car?" Bex asked.
Both Cammie and Zach nodded and the three of them walked silently to the car. Once they got in Zach turned the car on and waited for what seemed to be a lifetime, but really was 2 minutes before turning around and saying:
"Cam, I like you. A lot. I think that goes without saying. I respected your decision, but I don't think that doesn't give me the right to be jealous and honestly a little confused about everything."
Cammie sighed and looked out the window.
"Zach, I feel the same way about you, but I dont do spotlights. I dont mesh well with attention. Not to mention that the last time I opened my heart I was stomped on so hard that I literally didn't know how to even be myself."
Zach looked at Cammie realizing that the girl that everyone saw was a facade. She puts on a face for everyone to see, no one knows about her true issues let alone the crap shes been through especially given her family and health issues.
"gallagher girl, let's put all that trash behind us. I want to get to know you. the REAL you, the WHOLE you, and the you that no one else sees. I want the good, the bad, and the ugliest of them all."
