Luz's coffin was violently shaking and screams of anger were coming from it. The coffin was covered in a light blue glow that Lilith put on it so she couldn't break out. Amity, Lilith, and Eda watched the coffin with sadness.
"She can't get out?" Amity asked.
"That's right, and just to be safe, we have essential oils that cause vampires to go in a catatonic state when they touch them. The door is covered in it and so are the floors." Lilith said.
"I hate seeing her like this." Eda said, "I failed as a mentor. This wouldn't of happened if I just picked her up from school."
"Edalyn, tell me something. Did she want to be picked up?" Lilith asked.
"What?" Eda asked.
"Did she want to be picked up? I remember Amity telling me that she was going to enjoy the sights on her way home."
"She said she wanted to walk home. But if I had just told her no then this would never have happened."
"Edalyn."
"If I had done a better job of protecting her."
"Edalyn!"
"I can't keep her safe, I'm a failure of a mentor."
"EDA!"
Eda looked at Lilith in surprise. It's been years since she called her by her nickname.
"If Luz was in her right mind then she would tell you that you are the best mentor anyone could ever have. She will say that you are like a second mother to her. She doesn't hold any ill towards you, so why do you?" Lilith asked, "You can't answer that can you?"
"No. I can't."
"Then you need to let this go. You can't change the past, but you can learn from it."
They left Luz, although they can still hear the her screaming and the coffin moving from downstairs. Lilith left, she was unfortunately in charge of a squadron. Alaric looked out at the sky; he felt the power of the New Moon.
"I've waited nearly three millennia for this moment. Tonight, I build the army and soon I take down the witches hold on the Isles."
He ran to Bonesborough and noticed the amount of Emperor Coven's guards patrolling. He quickly ran at one of the guards and sank his fangs into the guard's neck. The man screamed and it alerted the rest. The man was drained in nearly ten seconds. Alaric turned to see more guards coming. He wiped the blood off his chin and smiled. He ran and punch a guard so hard it knocked him into a wall. He rammed his hand through a guard's chest and ripped the heart out. He ate the heart and grabbed another and snapped their neck. He bit down on one that was trying to sneak up from behind. The guard was drained in seconds and Alaric looked around.
"Well, it would appear that I've cleared out this area. On to the next. I haven't even used my Shadow Magic yet."
He ran to the next area and found one guard.
"Well, that's not what I expected, but I won't complain."
He attempted to bite down on the guard only for him to disappear.
"An illusion? I only can think of one person that can do illusions this powerful."
Real Emperor guards came out from their hiding places and surrounded him. A familiar scent hit his nose and he smirked. He turned around and saw Lilith.
"Lilith Clawthorne."
"Alaric Bloodborne; by order of the Emperor, you are under arrest."
"On what charges?"
"On the charges of conspiracy, murder, assault, treason, and attempted turning."
"Oh, miss Clawthorne, you shouldn't lie. Or do you not actually know? I've already turned three."
Whispers could be heard throughout the crowd. Did he really turn three witches? If that's true then he possibly just caused the death of three people.
"What? Who!?" Lilith demanded.
"Oh, I don't know. The first one was that human. You're bound to know that by now. The other two, were two students, I don't know their names."
"You just ruined the lives of three future witches! Take him away!" Lilith said while walking away.
"You have your mother's eye's."
Lilith stopped and turned to face him.
"What... did you just say?!"
"You have your mother's eye's. I would know, seeing as the last thing she saw with those eye's was me."
Lilith never even got to open her mouth to respond he made a black spell circle and sharp spikes erupted from the ground. All of the guards were stabbed and he grabbed Lilith by the neck and looked at her.
"Can you believe, 23 years ago today. I've always wondered, does your blood taste like your mother's or your father's?"
Lilith tried to get out of his grip, but the New Moon gave him unbelievable strength. His fangs got closer to her neck and she did something she hasn't done in 15 years. Unfortunately, his heart is blocked so she would have to aim somewhere else. She pulled out two stakes and stabbed him in the arms. He screamed and let go of her. Lilith kicked him in the stomach and he stumbled back.
"That's a bad burn you have, is it possible you messed with my sister's apprentice?" Lilith asked smugly.
"Glad to see one of the Clawthorne sisters still has their edge."
"If you didn't sneak attack my sister then she would've beaten you."
Lilith made a spell circle, or at least tried to before he ran up and put pressure on her wrist. Her circle disappeared and he threw her against a wall. He ran and grabbed her neck. He looked at her arm and smiled. He grabbed her arm and bit down on it. Lilith screamed in pain and fell to the ground when he let go.
"So, what's it going to be? Capture me or save yourself?"
He ran off into the night and left Lilith. She quickly pulled out a small vile filled with a clear liquid and poured it on her bite. The pain subsides and she stands up.
"That should be enough to stop me from turning. I have to get back to the Manor before and cover my wound before another vampire smells my blood."
She summoned her staff and flew away, unaware that there were red eyes stalking her from the darkness.
