Chapter 25: Fight for your dream!
Izuku Woke up in the recovery room. His injuries had been healed up. "It seems like that healing quirk really comes in handy sonny," Recovery Girl said. Izuku got up.
To his right, he saw Ochako smiling at him. Her parents were to his left. He looked down. "Deku, what's wrong?" Ochako asked. "I failed," Izuku said. He remembered the fight and how Hayate beat him. "I promised you I'd win and then I let my anger get the better of me," he said, "because of it I lost."
"Yeah…. about that," Ochako said, "you won and Hayate got disqualified for cheating." Izuku looked away.
"That doesn't mean he didn't beat me with my own strength," he said, "I lost and failed you…" tears streamed down his face. "If you feel like I failed you, I understand…" Ochako cupped Izuku's face. She then kissed him. The kiss lasted a few seconds til they broke apart. "I would never think that about you Izuku, because I love you," she said, "You fought hard and you showed a lot of heart. I was touched by that speech you said about me and why I wanted to be a hero."
"She's right, young man," Maruki said, "That was a good thing you did for Ochako. That right there lets me know that you'll make a spectacular hero one day. I would be so proud to call you my son." Those words brought Izuku to tears as he smiled.
Meanwhile…
Hayate was brought in the principal's office. He had a bruise from Bakugou. Principal Nezu was sitting on the other side. "So Mr. Hayate, do you know why you were brought here?" he asked. "What's it to ya?" Hayate answered Nezu's question with a question.
"Well, you were brought here because of 2 things; One, using unauthorized gear during your match with Izuku, and 2, your actions against Young Uraraka," Principal Nezu answered.
"Your point?" Hayate asked. "His point, young man, is that people have been scared by your matches," Midnight chimed in, "People have been frightened by how poorly you beat up Uraraka. And then you went and exposed her reason for being a pro hero!" "At least I was telling the truth, old lady," Hayate said. Midnight was about to pound him to a pulp but Aizawa held her back.
"The villains never play fair, so why the hell should we be any different," Hayate said, "I'm trying to show the world that we shouldn't be afraid to take what's ours. I don't understand why everyone is so afraid by my method!"
Aizawa nodded to Principal Nezu.
"I'm sorry to say this Hayate, but as of today you will no longer be a part of this school," he said. "Wait… what?" Hayate asked.
"He's saying you're no longer part of U.A!" Midnight said still pissed about being called an old lady, "You're EXPELLED!" "Excuse me but you can't just up and expel me!" Hayate snapped, "I'm supposed to go to this school to become the superior hero!"
"After those stunts you pulled, I think being a hero is out of the question," Aizawa said, "Now pack your stuff and get outta here."
Hayate stood up from his seat and kicked the chair away. "One villain attack, ONE!" Hayate shouted, "And you'll wish you never expelled me." He walked away and slammed the door.
Ochako and Izuku returned to the stands to see Todoroki's fight with Iida. This one was slightly longer that Todoroki's previous fight as Iida had better speed and mobility that Todoroki's ice and hence had gotten a blow or two on Todoroki which the boy defended with an ice shield. The match however did end in a similar fashion to Todoroki's fight with Sero as once Iida used his 'Recipro Burst' he was unable to move and Todoroki froze him in place with a glacier and them walked out of the arena once Midnight announced his win.
The third fight for the quarter-finals was Tetsutetsu against Kirishima. The two of them were having an arm-wrestling match. Both sides were pushing forward refusing to back down. "You can do it Kirishima!" Mina shouted, cheering him on. The match went on for what seemed like hours. Kirishima knew he had to give it his all. As if by an adrenaline rush, he had the strength to pin Tetsutetsu's arm down and win.
The final fight for the prelims was Bakugou Katsuki versus Jotaro Kenshi. Everyone was watching the two contestants walk to the stage, a Momo in particular. Mina noticed her blushing. "I think someone's got a crush….." she said.
Kenshi was face to face with Katsuki. "So it comes down to this," Katsuki said. "I guess it does," Kenshi said, smirking. Katsuki got in a fighting stance. "Don't expect me to go easy on you," He said, "I'm going all out like the rest of them." Kenshi got in a stance of his own. "Wouldn't dream of it."
Katsuki charged up explosives in his hand. He then lunged at Kenshi. "Hope you give it your all!" he said.
He threw the explosives. Kenshi evaded them by jumping. Once he was close to Bakugo he went for a 1-2 hit combo and then went for a high kick. The kick pushed Katsuki back and then Katsuki saw an opening. "Nice try," he said. HE grabbed Kenshi by the arm and threw him around.
Kenshi landed on his feet and did a move similar to Chun Li. One of the legs hit Katsuki and he fell to the ground. He quickly got back up.
"Not bad," Katsuki said, "But playtime's over!" He threw an explosive at Kenshi. Kenshi pulled an item from his inventory. "I hope this works!" he said pulling out a Relic.
He pulled out Mario's cape from Super Mario World. The minute the explosion connected with the cape, it was deflected. The crowd was amazed.
"Whoa!" Present Mic said, "Jotaro just pulled a Smash Bros move!" Katsuki smirked. "You're not as weak as people say you are," he said, "But you'll need more than bluster to take me down!"
Katsuki started throwing more explosions. Kenshi evaded each of them while getting closer to Kenshi. Izuku was watching his movement. "Kenshi seems to excel at close end combat in certain fights," Izuku said, "It looks like Kacchan is using explosives to keep his distance."
Kenshi did a roundhouse kick and Katsuki dodged it. He threw an explosive at him pushing him back. Despite the pain he felt, Kenshi was still going for it. He lunged at Katsuki while pulling out another relic. The relic was connected to his right hand.
As soon as it connected to Katsuki's face, it sent him flying back. Kenshi's body started to glow. A humanoid figure was coming out of his shadow. Kenshi had unlocked a new Relic called 'Umbra Stand'. He grinned and looked at Katsuki, and the crowd was going wild.
"I should thank you Bakugo, for not letting your guard down for this match," Kenshi said, "Cause now I'm getting serious!" He charged at Katsuki and went for a jab straight combo. He then turned around and allowed his Stand to pummel him. "Seether seether seether seether!" it said. Its final punch sent Katsuki flying.
He used an explosive to push himself back at Kenshi. When he was close enough he threw another explosive at Kenshi. The stand blocked it, and then did an uppercut. "That gamer guy is full of surprises isn't he?!" Present Mic said, "First he goes smash bros, and now he's taking Bakugo on a Bizzare Adventure!" The stand was about to charge at Kstsuki for a final punch to knock him off the stage.
As soon as it was close enough, it started to vanish. The time limit for Kenshi's relic has passed. "Shit," he said. He failed to see the explosive coming at him.
He was sent flying off the ring. "Jotaro is out of bounds!" Midnight said, "Bakugo advances to the Semi-finals!" Katsuki went over to help Kenshi up. "Good game," he said, "I admire your strength." Kenshi took it and got back up.
Later Katsuki took his seat next to Camie. Kirishima and some other students approached him. "Dude that was a pretty intense battle," Kaminari said, "Jojo almost had you."
"Well, even he has limits with those 'relics' of his," Katsuki said, "But he gave it his all." Monoma walked by. "Good thing you put that fragile little gamer in his place," he said. Katsuki whacked him from behind. "There's nothing fragile about Jotaro," he said.
Kenshi was making a phone call. "Kenshi?" someone asked. "Hey Mom, sorry I missed your call," he said. "Oh it's ok, I understand how busy you are," Ms. Jotaro said, "Your stepdad and I watched your matches. You were incredible!"
"I managed to beat the first guy," Kenshi said, "I almost had the other one with my new relic I unlocked, but I reached my limit and got cocky."
"Well, that's how things go when you're playing games," Ms. Jotaro said, "You just have to keep trying. You still have 2 more chances to show them who's boss."
Kenshi smiled. "Well, I'm close to achieving my dream," Kenshi said, "It'll just come a little later than usual." "Now now, why are you in such a rush?" Ms. Jotaro asked.
"I just wanna show the kids with disabilities that you can make a difference," Kenshi said, "Let them know that they can make their dreams come true. I wanna accomplish my mission as soon as I.."
"Sweetie, I know you have your mind set on this goal of yours, but you don't need to rush," Ms. Jotaro said, "And just that thought alone, the fact that you're doing for other kids with autism or other disabilities; That lets me know that one day you'll make an incredible hero in the future. I'm so proud of you." Kenshi wiped some tears from his face and smiled. "Thanks Mom," he said, "I love you." "I love you too Kenshi."
Izuku, Ochako, and Momo arrived. "Jojo?" Ochako asked, "Is everything ok?"
"Peachy keen jelly beans," Kenshi said, "Damn, I guess I lost. I thought I had Kacchan at that last few minutes of the match but I got carried away." "Are you alright?" Izuku asked, "Did Recovery Girl heal your injuries?"
"Yeah, but she went easy so I didn't lose too much stamina," Kenshi said, "Next time I go up against Bakugou, I gotta step my game up."
Izuku smiled. "I'd be more than happy to spar with you a few times," he said, "I'd love to see how strong you are with that 'relic' you used." Kenshi smirked. "You're on Deku," he said. "Hey, we got some time before the next round," Ochako said, "Wanna grab a bite?" "Sure," Izuku said following her.
Kenshi and Momo were left alone. "So who were you talking to before we got here?" Momo asked.
"My mom and stepdad," Kenshi said, "They told me they were proud of me."
"Well I am too, you really did great out there Jojo," Momo said. "Eh, if anything I looked like a kid who was just pulling out items from my pocket," Kenshi stated.
"Even though you didn't make it as far, you still did spectacular," Momo said, "I had no idea you would be able to deflect Bakugo's attacks with that cape."
"Meh, that was just sheer dumb luck," Kenshi said, "I honestly didn't think it would work. Then again, that is how the cape worked in the smash series." Momo giggled to herself. "You're so cute when you nerd out on gaming."
Kenshi blushed. "So, since you're here… could we talk about something?" he asked.
"That's…. Actually why I'm here," Momo said, imitating the blush.
"So…. about earlier, when you kissed me," Kenshi started.
"I'm sorry, I allowed my emotions to get the better of me," Momo said, "I mean, my parents are strict about boys, provided they treat me well, but I still feel like I should apologize."
"What for?" Kenshi asked. "Well…. I guess I've sort of developed a crush on you since the trial battles," Momo said, "But I also assumed you had your eye on somebody else." "Momo I…." "That's why I thought we could just leave it at that and…"
Kenshi got close to her and gave her a quick peck on the lips. She blushed. "...and you kissed me," she said surprised, "Wha…" "You're right, I do like someone," he started, "But I'm looking right at her."
Momo blushed. "What caught my attention about you, is your willingness to help others out before helping yourself, and on top of that, you reached out to me and helped me see more in myself," Kenshi started, "You've always been so kind to me despite my… disability."
Momo then smiled. "Wow, that's… great," she said.
"I didn't wanna assume that you liked me, so I just kept my emotions to myself, plus I thought I would be nothing but a distraction to your goal," Kenshi said. "I have all the time in the world to achieve it," Momo said, "But all that matters, for the time being, is right now."
She placed her hand on top of Kenshi's. "Kenshi, I really like you," she said.
Kenshi smiled and said, "I really like you too." He turned away for a minute. "But if you know the history between my family and yours, then you'll probably know that my biological father will not approve of this at the slightest," he said.
Momo looked sad. "Its ok, I understand," she said.
Kenshi smirked and put his hand around her hip. "But I don't live with my biological father. Do I?"
"No," Momo said.
"Alright then."
Their faces got close and they shared a quick kiss. It seemed too short, so the two of them came closer again and shared an actual kiss. Momo wrapped her arms around Kenshi's neck and Kenshi wrapped his arm around her waist. After a few seconds they broke apart and smiled.
"Momo, will you go out with me?" Kenshi asked. "I'd be glad to," Momo said, "Well, we should hurry before the next round starts." They walked back to their seats, hand in hand.
