A/N: Okay, the last chapter was pretty hefty and I got to say, I never expected the Precursors to have a dark secret. This chapter, well, I don't know what to expect. This is the Hardest Level in Combat Evolve, so expect a lot of deaths in this chapters. Also, what the Monitor said about the Precursors were in her opinion as she had managed to read some history.
I also want to thank for ExcaliburShooter for the opening. Dude, make an account if you want a collab. And sorry for the long update, I was just taking a break.
Disclaimer: I do not own Akame ga Kiru and Halo. They belong to their rightful and respectful owners.
"Ready yourselves Reclaimers for this mission, known as the Library, will be the hardest level you'll ever play in this game. It is so difficult to complete on Legendary that you will be on constant alert and there is no room for error. It can be considered one of the hardest levels in all the Halo games. Even you Esdeath and Akame will be extremely tired and will die a few times. There are only a few levels I can specifically think of that can definitely top it in difficulty." Delta warned the players and shivered at the difficulty of the sequel Halo 2 where you can die in less than a second on Legendary especially by those...
Jackal Snipers...
"Are there any tips we need?" Najenda asked as she was making plans in her head on how to handle the Flood much easier.
"Yes, use the Shotguns this level, they provide major damage to the Flood in this game and also be on the move. Don't stop running because if you stand your ground, the Flood will swarm you and surround your position Reclaimers." Delta replied.
"Understood." Akame said.
"Got it, you're getting this Esdeath. You won't be talking smack anymore this time." Najenda said with a smirk.
Esdeath glared at her then started smiling menacingly as to cover up her humiliation. "We'll see when I prove myself better then you without fear of these creatures."
"My scans show that your blood which is mixed with that degenerative Danger Beast poison in what you said otherwise, Ms. Blueberry." Delta said plainly so that everybody would hear.
"..." everyone was silent about that.
"Did she just..." Leone started as she knew that the monitor roasted the Ice Queen.
"Uh oh..." Tatsumi and Wave gulped as they both shared Leone's reaction.
Najenda began trying to cover her mouth with both her hands when she heard the last part as she giggled.
Esdeath began radiating with a killer intent. "I'm sorry but... what was that you said...?" she said as the temperature dropped. An ice shard appears out of nowhere and tries to hit Delta but Delta retaliated by shooting it with her hard light beam weapon on a low setting which instantly melts it completely into thin air.
She turns back to Esdeath. "Oh, I mean no offense, but I'm just pointing a few things out. You are after all are still experiencing an animalistic blood rush still from what my scan shows ever since you encountered the Flood. I guess that's what happens when a human drinks a very unhealthy liquid for substance like the blood of a creature that is quite uncivilized and your body does seem to feature many traits associated with the color blue." Delta said calmly but also smugly.
Najenda then burst out laughing on the couch with both of her arms were holding onto her stomach and everybody began letting out a few giggles including Tatsumi and slightly Akame, who were just smiling.
"You..." Esdeath gave a death glare to Delta. "Why I ought to..." but before she was about to grab her rapier, she then realizes that it's missing.
"Oh I think you may have misplaced your weapon Reclaimer. Don't worry, it's in safe hands." Delta said proudly. As she moved it somewhere else earlier before this.
Esdeath was about to go full out and kick the monitor but Leone, Tatsumi, Wave, Mine, Chelsea, Seryu, Akame, and Bulat got up to grab her in time with Koro standing in front of her in his miniature form waving his hands up as a gesture for her to stop.
Delta just floated back to the Dorothea's seat humming the theme 343 Guilty Sparks would do.
"Well...you sure do like messing with her a lot." Dorothea said with a drop of sweat coming down on her face as she eventually stopped giggling.
"She's... scary." Cosmina said who was hiding behind the couch while peaking her head up as Esdeath was still very angry with Najenda on the ground crying of laughter.
"Well someone's got to be there to stop her ego from destroying herself, Reclaimer. Pride and closed mindedness filled with a zealotic belief that has so many flaws. It's quite ridiculous which will lead to any sentient's downfall no matter how powerful. " Delta stated with satisfaction again. "Now let's wait it out and wait for them to start the game."
About ten minutes would passed and everyone, including Esdeath again was filled with annoying anger went back to the game. Najenda composed herself by coughing a few times before returning to the game with a smile on her face.
And with the ruckus all over, the level starts.
The Library
(Cutscene)
The view fly through of the main central chamber of the Installation, through a bizarre rotating doorway, to find 343 Guilty Spark and John-117 teleporting in.
"Well, hopes this mission is worth it." Lubbock said.
343 Guilty Spark: "We must collect the Index before we can activate the installation."
(Gameplay)
343 Guilty Spark: "Ahhhh...I, am a genius. Heeheeheehee!"
As soon as the four players entered the first area, they were greeted with more flood infection forms. And after taking out them, "Combat forms" were walking slowly towards them.
Insert- Demons…. Monsters…
"This sound is really creepy." Cosmina shivered at the theme as it gave her and some others Goosebumps.
"Alright! It's these guys!" Leone cheered and charged into one of them.
"Wait Leo-!" Akame tried to warn her friend because there was something suspicious about it. Its upper body was almost bursting, like it was carrying something.
Unfortunately, Leone pummelled the 'Combat form', which it fell and spurted out multiple infection forms. Which downed her shields and the infection form killed her.
"What the hell was that?!" Mine wondered.
"Those are carrier forms. They are created when a combat body is either too weak or too damaged." Delta answered.
With Leone out, the three remaining used all of their assault rifle ammunition. Najenda and Akame managed to pick up some Plasma rifles and Esdeath with a shotgun. They manged to kill the waves of Flood and catches up to Guilty Spark.
"Jeez, a flamethrower would be useful in that sort of situation." Wave indicated.
"I agree with you." Bols admitted as flamethrowers WOULD be useful against them.
The monitor managed to listen to their conversation and whispered to Bols' ear. "You're lucky that the flamethrower that you received is exactly the same as Rubicante. But the fire quickly burns the body."
"Wait? What did you say?" Wave's eyebrow rose.
Delta looked at Wave, "Rubicante was based off a Forerunner weapon, which was specifically designed to combat against the Flood." Bols was surprised about that fact and soon the three soon face the screen.
343 Guilty Spark: "We are near the Index chamber. Follow me."
When the three with Leone respawning emerges into the large central chamber.
343 Guilty Spark: "The energy field above us contains the Index. We must get up there."
"So, how many floors, Delta?" Leone asked.
"There are four in total and endless waves of Flood." She responded.
"FOUR FLOORS?!" most of them shouted.
"Oh, man. We wouldn't survive that long, even with or without our Imperial Arms." Lubbock said.
"No, Lubba. We would NEVER make any process with that." Mine corrected.
When the four comes to a huge door, which is locked.
343 Guilty Spark: "The security doors have sealed automatically. I will go access the override to open them."
With Guilty Spark leaving them, more waves of Flood appear. The four soon readies up by pulling out a Covenant weapon or a Shotgun. Najenda threw a frag grenade, killing about seven in total and gunning down a Combat Form that was coming up to her. Esdeath did the same by shooting her shotgun at it. Akame threw two grenades and killed about twenty Combat forms. As she finished killing her enemies. Leone rushed up to two combat forms with a shotgun that she picked up. However, the four only had four bars of health left.
"Come here you!" Leone said she was about to shoot the combat form, when one of them leaped forward to Leone and swung its whip to her, which took down her shields. She quickly retaliated by moving into a safe distance and shooting the Flood Form five times.
"Phew, luckily I didn't die this time." She sighed in relief and looked at her health bar, which only had two left. She needed to find one soon.
After a while, the monitor came back.
343 Guilty Spark: "Please, follow closely. This portal is the first of ten."
As the four and Spark move into the next hallway:
343 Guilty Spark: "Puzzling. You brought such ineffective weapons to combat the Flood, despite the containment protocols."
"Hey! We're still not used to these threats yet!" Mine pointed out.
"I have to agree with you." Tatsumi said as he and the rest never understood on how to combat the flood.
Upon moving down another hallway.
343 Guilty Spark: "The Flood must not escape the installation. They would consume all."
"No kidding." Dorothea gulped as she couldn't imagine what infection form would the old members of her group would look like.
"The Flood is a serious threat. Luckily, there are no flood samples in this installation." Delta reminded the group, which made them sigh as they wouldn't need to deal with them in real life.
Upon entering into another hallway.
343 Guilty Spark: "You can see how the body has been transformed by the genetic restructuring of the Flood infection. The small creatures carry spores that cause a host to mutate. The mutated host then produces spores that can pass the Flood to others. It is insidious and elegant. As long as any hosts remain, the Flood is virulent."-
Everyone was quite disturbed by that fact and it would cause a lot of trouble. "There is another reason."
They all looked at the monitor. "What is it?" Dorothea asked.
"It's the flood super cell." Delta answered. "It can produce a lot of cells in a body, which then causes the mutations." That made some of them shiver at that fact.
As the four goes down yet another hallway while killing any Flood.
343 Guilty Spark: "We must continue. This way please."
Further down another hallway and the four killed more enemies while picking up new weapons and ammunition.
343 Guilty Spark: "This installation's research facilities are most impressive! Perhaps we'll have time to see them later."
As the Monitor Spark sends a squad of Sentinels to assist John.
343 Guilty Spark: "These Sentinels will supplement your combat system. But I suggest you upgrade to at least a Class Twelve combat skin. Your current model only scans as a Class Two, which is ill suited for this kind of work."
That got Wave and Tatsumi thinking. What was their armour classed as in Forerunner standards? "Delta, what combat skin class is our Imperial Arms?" Wave asked.
That got Delta's attention as she remembered what she said to Esdeath. "Hmm, from what I modified before, Grand Chariot was classed as a class three Variant while Incuriso was classed as a highly unstable class five."
"Wait, what?!" Tatsumi exclaimed because even thought Incuriso was just a prototype, it was very powerful in Forerunner standards comparing to Wave's one.
"But I thought that Grand Chariot was based off the prototype from Incuriso!" Wave added.
"Indeed. But your Imperial could consume your body and mind, which is highly unfortunate due to the designs. But luckily I manged to modify it so that the effects would slow down." Delta continued. This made Tatsumi sigh in relief but couldn't help but feel what he would do when the Tyrant Dragon takes over his body
"Alright, so shall we continue on?" Mine asked and soon Tatsumi, Wave and Delta looked back at the screen.
As John nears the first platform lift:.
343 Guilty Spark: "Pardon me. A plasma conduit breach in Section 5-5-2-4 has disrupted power flow to a gravity maintenance assembly. Repairs require my attention. I will return soon."
"So, he's leaving us?" Najenda asked as she didn't like how he keeps on leaving them.
"Yeah." Akame answered.
As the four rides the first lift to upstairs.
Wait, It Gets Worse!
"C'mon! Don't make us panic!" Lubbock begged as he saw the title card.
Towards a little down the first hall of the second floor while killing off multiple enemies and picking up new ammunition.
343 Guilty Spark: "Flood activity has caused a failure in a drone control subsystem. I must reset the backup unit. Please, continue on. I will rejoin you when I have completed my task."
The Monitor leaves temporarily, making the four girls groan as they have to deal with the waves of Flood.
"Damnit, he always leaves in at the worst time!" Leone gritted her teeth as she shot gunned an infected Elite.
Delta was shocked about this. Usually, Guilty Spark when she met him didn't always act like that. Maybe, it was due to rampancy. But she soon shook that thought off and looked back at the screen to see the Reclaimers playing the game.
Two minutes had passed and things has gone very wrong. With the four drying up on ammunition and their health going low, the four picked up new weapons, from plasma pistols to Magnums, they fought very hard to fight against the flood.
"Where do these keep coming from?!" Leone exclaimed.
"Maybe it's from the dead bodies around the facility." Susanoo guessed as he and some other knew that it was the reason that there were no bodies in the last mission.
Guilty Spark soon returns to the four with the door open.
"Finally!" Leone exclaimed in relief as she and the others threw grenades to kill off the Flood
343 Guilty Spark: "The Sentinels can use their weapons to manage the Flood only for a short time. Speed is of the essence."
Once the four encounters another large door.
343 Guilty Spark: "Please wait here."
"AGAIN!" Leone shouted as she was really getting annoyed about this.
"Do not be made, this makes it fun." Esdeath said with a sadistic smirk. However, her Danger Beast blood is telling her mind to leave this place immediately, which she was annoyed of.
As the four approaches another hallway on the second floor, they engaged more combat forms, with Najenda dying from multiple flood hits from their whips.
"Good thing, I needed to die." Najenda said as she was really low on health.
343 Guilty Spark: "Your environment suit should serve you well when the Flood begins to alter the atmosphere. You are a good planner."
Into once again another hallway, where a lot of carrier forms and two combat forms were there. Akame shot one of them and it exploded, killing all but one, who then shot a rocket and killed both Leone and Esdeath.
"Wha-" Leone was about to say.
"Since when does the Flood carry rockets?" Esdeath said in a state of shock.
343 Guilty Spark: "The installation was well conceived. It is surely the only way to end the Flood threat."
With only Akame left, she finds and rides the second platform lift while also shooting down any flood form with her shotgun or throwing a grenade and also finding a nearby health pack. The three soon respawned with full health bars.
"Well, it cannot go worse, right?" Leone hoped as she didn't want to get killed again.
But I Don't Want to Ride the Elevator!
The four goes into the first hallway of the third floor and killing off any enemies that stood in their way.
343 Guilty Spark: "I would conjecture that the other species currently on the installation is responsible for releasing the Flood. They seem most persistent in their attempts to access restricted areas."
"Yeah, Delta…." Delta looked at Dorothea, "who exactly released the flood?"
The monitor looked at her, "The Prophet of Stewardship ordered such a thing. The Fleet Master was angry that he took over without consent."
"Oh…" that was her response.
The four comes into another hallway, but this time it's large, open, cavernous.
"Finally, some open space!" Leone exclaimed in relief.
"Leone, it's exactly the same as the others." Akame reminded her friend.
343 Guilty Spark: "Why naturally the Flood is simply too dangerous to release, and mass sterilization protocols may again need to be enacted. Of course, samples were kept here after the last catastrophic outbreak... for study. It seems... that decision may have been an error."
"Yeah, we all know how it ended up." Tatsumi said.
The four encounters another hallway.
343 Guilty Spark: "The installation was specifically built to study and contain the Flood. Their survival as a race was dependent upon it. I am grateful to see that some of them survived to reproduce. "
The four reaches the third floor's locked door.
343 Guilty Spark: "I will deactivate the security lock. Wait here."
Spark once again leaves, much of their annoyance and more flood forms appear.
"DAMNIT, just how many are there?!" Leone shouted as she was REALLY getting sick and tired of this.
"Just don't worry about that, Leone." Najenda assured her but she was also getting sick and tired of Spark leaving them.
After killing all of the enemies, Spark returns to them, with Akame and Leone dying due to ammunition shortage.
Najenda and Esdeath encounters yet another hallway, but this time with slightly more Flood forms.
"Now this is getting more fun." Esdeath said sadistically as she and Najenda threw a lot of frag grenades and killed all of the flood forms.
343 Guilty Spark: "Please stay close. Time is short."
Najenda and Esdeath rides on the platform lift to the fourth floor, with Akame and Leone respawning.
Fourth Floor: Tools, Guns, Keys To Super Weapons
The four enters the first hallway of the fourth floor.
343 Guilty Spark: "The Flood are already hard at work repairing your vessel. Its parasitic nature belies the Flood's intelligence."
"Yeah, we have no clue what that would do to the victims." Wave gulped as he knew that they would steal some memories, which sent a shiver down his spine.
Everyone clears the route to the Index platform, fending off several remaining Flood forms. From carrier forms to combat forms, they manged to kill a lot of them and finally reached the index room.
(Cutscene)
343 Guilty Spark: "The energy barrier surrounding the Index will deactivate when we reach the ground floor."
When the platform comes to a stop.
343 Guilty Spark: "You may now retrieve the Index."
John walks slowly over to the Index, which is held in a sheath of some sort. A series of metal blocks encircling the Index move in and out for a few moments, before the Index itself pops slightly out of the top of the sheath.
John removes it and holds it up to examine it for a moment, before 343 Guilty Spark zaps it from John's hands and into some sort of trans-dimensional storage chamber in the Monitor's body.
343 Guilty Spark: "Protocol requires that I take possession of the Index for transport. Your organic form renders you vulnerable to infection. The Index must not fall into the hands of the Flood, before we reach the Control Room and activate the installation."
Spark and John teleport away from the platform.
343 Guilty Spark: "The Flood is spreading! We must hurry!"
"Yeah, using the halo ring is a good idea, right?" Lubbock said.
Delta knew that Lubbock got it all wrong and that the Halo rings were meant to destroy all life in the galaxy, meaning that it kills the Flood's food.
Fades to black.
Level ends.
As the level ends, all four soon put the controller down. The Library was considered to be the hardest mission ever, with Flood coming without stopping.
"Man, I am not going to do that again." Leone muttered.
"Leone, you've charged in and got killed by a Flood, who can spurt out more of the squid-like creatures." Mine reminded her, which she pouts.
"The Reclaimer is right. However, I think that the next mission you all WON'T definitely like." Delta added in the details. Soon, Tatsumi, Wave, Lubbock and Mine soon picked up the controllers to play the next mission.
Well, that's out of the way now. Since there's a month from Halloween, I would give you the title of my Halloween special. And it's called:
The Choukri Island incident.
It's currently sketched in paper now. But it is on the works. P.S. the synopsis might come in soon.
