Draco woke the next morning to see Harry getting dressed. He watched in silence, unsure if he was ready to wake up and face the consequences of the night before. Unfortunately, Harry saw his eyes open.
"Hey." Harry buttoned his jeans around his waist.
"Hi." Draco rasped.
Harry pointed to the nightstand, "water?"
Draco nodded, and drank the glass of water empty.
"It's pick up day. I have to meet the kids at Kings Cross by noon. I gotta clean the rooms real quick, then go to the Spiffy Sylvans and hire some Elves for the next few weeks, I should have done yesterday. Do you want some coffee?" Harry smiled to his eyes.
Draco stared at him, joyous and so awake.
"It's pick up day!" He said again, eagerly, "Pick up day is my favorite!" Harry nearly squealed.
Draco couldn't help but smile at how happy he seemed.
"I can clean, if you need to go to Sylvans."
"Really? That'd be great. Thank you. Oh, I also need to pick up the car."
"You're taking a car?"
"'Course, how else am I supposed to get all the children here?"
Draco shrugged and started to get up, then remembered he was still naked.
"Uhh."
"Here," Harry handed Draco his trousers, planting a kiss on his lips in the process.
Draco tried to act like that was normal for them, like any part of this situation as normal for them.
"Okay, I'm gonna make some coffee." and he left his room, leaving Draco alone to think for a few minutes.
'I can't believe that happened last night. Completely bonkers.' he stared off as he threaded his legs through his trousers, 'and he just kissed me, like we've woken up like this a hundred times.' Draco stood to pull up his pants and smiled, thinking about how good Harry had felt in his hands. He couldn't remember the last time he'd slept soundly through the night. Draco found his shirt crumpled in the corner of the room, and his other tangled under the blankets. He didn't bother putting them on, he hurried across the landing to his room to shower. He hopped into the pulsing water, as hot as he could stand it. He washed quickly knowing he had work to do.
He dressed in a green jumper that almost matched Harry's eyes, and basic black jeans that he loved because they fit through his toned legs.
Draco moved from room to room scourgifying each surface. Everything was clean for the most part, only a thin layer of dust had settled. He completed the first landing and moved to the second and third. He finished cleaning the fifth floor and checked the time. 1030am. Draco went to the drawing room and kitchen to clean. He waited for Harry to return.
He smiled without thought when he heard Harry barrel through the front door around 1130.
"DRaco! Let's go!" He was smiling so big.
"You're happier than when you left," Draco commented.
"Come see what I got!" Harry grabbed his hand and pulled him out the door.
Draco blanched at the shining neon yellow car that sat in front of the house.
"Good God, Harry, what is that?"
Harry laughed, almost maniacally, "It's a 1974 Beetle! I put an extension charm on it obviously, I'm picking up ten kids."
"Why did you get such a horrendous car? You're going to scar the kids."
"No, no. They love it." Harry assured him, "let's get going."
"I hope no one sees us in this . . . thing." Draco said, though he loved how excited Harry was.
"Well, no one you know will see us."
Draco groaned and shut the starting to rust at the hinges door behind him.
Harry started the car up and giggled.
They arrived at King's Cross and parked just outside. Harry and Draco walked onto Platform 9¾.
Draco looked around, the families that gathered, the large ticking clock overhead, nothing had changed.
Harry leaned against a brick column to wait for the train, which was only a few minutes out. Draco stood rigidly next to him. Someone he knew probably would see him here and he didn't know what to say if they did.
At 12pm exactly, the scarlet train pulled into the station with a deafening whistle.
The platform was alive with squealing children, happy to see their families. A tall boy with ebony hair and gangly arms smiled widely when he saw Harry.
"Harry!" he opened his arms and wrapped Harry in a hug that he returned in full.
"Jeremiah!" Harry yelled, "look at you, you must have grown five inches since I saw you in August!" Harry, in a very fatherly manner, patted the boy on the face.
"Naw, mate, you're just getting shorter with age."
Harry laughed openly. Anyone watching could see that Harry was in his element, he was meant to be doing this. One or two at a time, more kids popped up next to Harry, they were all talking at once, but Harry somehow kept track of what everyone was saying.
"Harry, look what I learned!" a young girl held out her hand to show off a jar of blue fire.
"Sarah! That's a brilliant flame, good work! That's pretty advanced!" he responded.
"Harry, look. Look." a young redheaded boy was holding up a book, "can I get this plant? Please?"
"Oh lord, Neville got to you in Herbology, didn't he?" Harry laughed, "we can talk about it."
"Harry, an older boy told me you battled a giant snake under the school, is that true?"
"Devin, what have I told you about stories about me?" Harry said seriously.
Devin sighed, "If I want to know it's true, I can look it up in a book."
"That's right."
"But did it happen?" Devin begged.
"Yeah, Devin, it happened! He killed it with the Sword of Gryffindor, isn't that right?"
"Darla, don't encourage your brother."
"Harry, what kind of car did you get this time?"
"You guys are going to love it. But, before we go, I need to introduce Draco. He's newly trained to stay at the house. Luna can't be with us this Holiday." He turned and pointed to Draco.
Draco raised his hand in a small wave to the gaggle of children that had semi-surrounded him.
They all stared at him with wide eyes, except Jeremiah, who had wandered off to say goodbye to a friend.
"Thee Draco Malfoy?" a boy whispered.
"He sure looks like him." a girl whispered back.
"Guys, that's super rude. Say Hello."
The kids started up again,
"Okay, but did you actually destroy one of the Horcruxes at the Last Battle?"
"What was Voldemort like?"
"What about that time when Harry was captured at your house and you lied for him to your OWN AUNT! That's so badass."
Draco couldn't keep up with all the kids talking like Harry could.
"I'm sorry, they're always like this." Harry said. He cupped his hands over his mouth, "Boys and Girls, and Jeremiah." they all stood forward and looked at Harry, "Let's move out. I think you'll know the car when you see it! It's TERrible." Harry laughed again at his choice of car.
The kids ran out to King's Cross, Harry followed behind walking close to Draco.
"I'm sorry if their questions make you uncomfortable. I can tell them not to ask you questions like that."
Draco thought for a moment, "I guess I don't mind. Do you answer all of their questions like that?"
"Sometimes. I encourage them to do their own reading. I guess it depends on what kind of mood I'm in when they come at me. They're always at their most hyper when they get off the train."
The children had easily found the neon yellow Beetle parked out front.
Jeremiah laughed, "this has gotta be your worst yet, Harry."
"Draco said it was horrendous."
"He's right!"
Harry and all the kids laughed as they piled into the car.
Draco was at a loss for understanding the humor of this, but got into the front seat and buckled up. The children were all seated in the back, the extension charm creating a large semi-circle. Harry started the car and froze when he looked out the windshield. Draco followed his gaze and froze as well. Walking down the sidewalk was Astoria, and she was holding hands with Blaise Zabini.
"That MOther - " Draco reached to unbuckle, he felt Harry's hand on his knee.
"Draco, not now. I'm sorry" Harry said.
"He can't have - "
"I know. But we can't with the kids here."
Draco looked at Harry's face and remembered the night they'd had together, looking into his bright eyes, he relaxed and sat back in the car.
"Okay."
"Okay." Harry drove back to Grimmauld Place, answering questions from the children without missing a beat.
