Chapter 19
Author's Note: Hi everyone sorry about the long delay between chapters, but thank you for all your patience. I had a really nice few days off, but then came back to reality and the complete craziness and turmoil that came along with it, but I am getting everything back under control again and I am going to try to keep on the same schedule that I have been with submitting each chapter on Fridays. Serena stepped off the plane onto the runway it had only been a few weeks since the last time she stood in this same spot with her friends to start there adventure, but now so much had changed and she would be starting a whole new life for herself here with a multitude of possibilities as she looked up at the beautiful clear blue sky and took a deep breath in smelling the cool fresh island air as she smiled telling herself "I'm home"
She placed her hand down to her stomach envisioning for a moment chasing a small child with blond hair like hers and Darien's sparkling blue eyes that she could chase down the sand together and splash in the water with, then turned around and looked off in the distance to the sandy beaches ahead with the rolling waves that could be heard like a silent whisper beckoning for her to come closer and soon she would.
She let out a small sigh knowing this is where her dreams and wishes would soon come true, she would be wrapped up once again in the arms of the man who loved her and feel the water splashing up against her ankles as they take long walks on the beach at sunset, she was in paradise once more and this time she was staying.
She reached down into the pocket of her carryon bag and took out the small wad of cash that Anna had given to her which would be enough for two nights stay at the Wilshire hotel, which she expected she would not actually need for more than one, knowing once she tracked Darien down and explained everything that happened and the harsh truth about her parents, she could put all that behind her and they could begin their new life together.
She smiled to herself thinking of the deep affection they shared together on this island and all the promises they had made to each other, which she felt certain would lead them to living together happily ever after.
She headed up the sand to the hotel and after a quick check in, headed up to the room she was given to give herself enough time to freshen up after a long journey and be the island goddess he remembered her as.
She opened the door to the hotel room and looked around seeing the room was much smaller than the suite she and her friends had shared with only a full size bed, a lamp, one chair and a long dresser against the wall it was not much to go on, but quickly reminded herself it was not permanent and that there would be big changes soon to come.
She walked further into the room towards the opposite wall which was mostly one large window and pulled back the curtains to let some sunlight in, and looked out seeing that even though the room was small it did come with a spectacular view.
She stood for a moment looking out on the sandy coast line, but what held her attention most was off in the distance was a surfer out on the water riding the waves. She couldn't see who it was with the too far distance between them, but based on the control he showed in the endless breaking waved, she knew without a doubt it was him.
She dropped her carry-on down to the floor and turned around quickly feeling the butterflies floating around in her stomach from equal parts nervousness of telling him about the baby, but more so the overwhelming excitement at the thought of seeing him again and feeling wrapped up in his arms once more and finally feeling safe and secure with her own choices.
She turned around and looked out on the plain room once more and smiled deciding not to waste time unpacking, hoping that this meeting would go as expected and she would not need to be here much longer.
She quickly walked over to the small mirror and looked herself over quickly seeing her hair was a bit windblown and pulled it back into a low ponytail then reapplied her strawberry lip gloss so her lips looked shiny and glossy perfect for kissing as she let out a small giggle thinking of the nights she never wanted to end with him, and now they didn't have too.
She quickly headed out of the hotel room with a small skip to her step feeling lighter than she has ever felt before ready to start this new life, new adventure with the man she loves.
She walked down the small sandy path that led down to the beach from the hotel taking in the clear fresh air around her and stood on the tallest sand dune looking out on the endless ocean.
She stood watching as the sun was just beginning to set and remembered the last night they shared on this very same beach and could feel the love that they shared with each touch and caress he showed and now she just had to look out to see the close view she had of his dark ebony hair slicked back as the waves curved around his turquoise board and matching swim trunks.
She felt herself heating up and was not sure if it was from the hot sun overhead or the man in front of her who looked even better than she remembered him being in all her dreams, which couldn't compare to the reality as she watched him expertly maneuvered his board.
She smiled thinking of the person she came to be with him and the things that he gave her the courage to pursue that she never would have tried before if it weren't for his patience and encouragement, like being out there with him feeling his body pressed against her own against the board while together they tamed the wild ocean.
She closed her eyes and stood just listening to the sound of the waves, remembering being out there again with him, only this time there was no fear of what would be, but only a feeling of peace.
She opened her eyes back up and realized she became too caught up in her own thoughts as she watched him come walking back in towards land, holding his board firmly underneath one arm as he wiped some of the water spray from his face.
Her heart was beating faster by the second as she slowly walked closer knowing at any moment he would look up and see her standing there his island goddess as she quickly fixed the dress she wore to make sure she looked as good as he remembered her being as she watched him coming closer, but before he caught sight of her, she watched as another girl ran up to him as she wrapped her arms around his neck holding on tightly.
She stood there frozen watching as she took in a deep breath knowing he had other friends and some of them were women as this one probably is and took a step closer curiously watching as the girl unwrapped her arms from around her Darien's neck and they seemed to be having some sort of conversation.
She was unable to make out what they were saying from the distance that she was at, but saw this other girl was standing a little too close to him for her liking and then watched as she reached her hand up to touch his chest in a too familiar way, which he made no move to stop her, but instead reached up and caressed her touch as he had done so with her.
She let out a deep gulp and felt the knawing in her stomach growing seeing that he was with someone, not just a someone else, but a female someone else, who like her has long blonde hair down to her waist that blew around in the wind as she took a deep breath in trying to rationalize what she was seeing and find a reasonable explanation to all of this as she went to take another step forward and then stopped watching him move his hand through her blonde hair, as he had done so with her.
She felt her legs frozen in place and moved her hand down to her stomach where her child, there child grew, and felt like she would be sick and then heard him say the words to her, the girl who looked like her but was not really her, which left herself feeling completely crushed and mortified as he spoke the words to the other girl "you are my beautiful island goddess and your eyes sparkle like the deepest blue ocean"
Serena stood there shaking her head not believing what she was actually seeing and witnessing right here before her eyes, after everything they shared and been through together, the things that he had told her and now he was right here within her reach saying all the same things to someone as she watched him reach in and kiss this stranger.
She shook her head trying to understand it, the things he said, all the times she had stood up for him and told her friends that he was different and they had something special, to have to see this. She wanted to die knowing the man that she had loved, that she thought loved her back, had found someone else that wasn't her and now she was alone again having his child as she shook her head and began to turn around to walk back up the beach, when she heard him say the words, the words that she thought at the time were meant for her only "No Keia La, No Keia Po, A Mua Lo"
She closed her eyes thinking of the last night they spent on this beach and the deep connection they shared where he repeated those same words to her from this day, from this night, forever more and knew all they meant to him were just that words, that he had convinced her that she meant something more to him, when obviously she didn't.
She turned back around feeling the anger welling up inside to face the couple in front of her who were too wrapped up in each other's lips for anything else around them as she spoke out loudly "you better watch out, soon he will be telling you how much he loves spending time with you"
She watched as Darien's eyes opened up wide and his arms dropped quickly down, releasing the hold he had on the girl that he had been kissing and not just a kiss on the cheek either, but a forceful passionate kiss probably using their tongues as he turned around and faced her and the look of complete surprise and horror that was on his face was enough to tell her the real truth about him as she looked directly at him telling him with a little sneer "Hi Darien, I'm back"
Darien stood there flabbergasted as he shook his head and looked to the girl at his right and then back at her asking coldly, definitely not the warm welcome she was expecting from him as he stated "Serena what the hell are you doing here?"
Serena stood up proudly and walked the few feet closer to him, but all the while couldn't take her eyes off the girl who stood next to him who looked much like her, who was probably falling for his good looks and charm and felt a little sympathy for the innocent girl as she looked to him shaking her head asking coldly "who's this Darien, another friend of yours? Tell me do you say hello to all your friends by sticking your tongue down their throat"
Darien just stood there dumbfounded unsure what to say after being caught open mouthed stuck between two girls one which he never expected to see again, as the girl to his right looked to him angrily demanding "who is this Darien?"
Darien turned around to look at her trying to make amends somehow as he shook his head telling her calmly "don't worry about it Danielle I will deal with this, she is just someone I know. Why don't you go back to your hotel and I will catch up with you later and we can maybe go out and take a walk or"
Serena stood there feeling her breath caught in her throat hearing him address her as just someone he knows as she tried to fight the tears back from showing and looked to him while saying back angrily "and what Darien are you going to take a quiet walk at night by the moonlight under the sand dunes or wake her up very early in the morning just so you can watch the sunrise together"
Danielle looked to the girl in front of her who seemed to know him very well and was obviously very angry then looked over to Darien questioningly as she took a step back asking "why does she know about that stuff we did?"
Darien looked to Serena with a glare seeing that she was obviously here to cause trouble for him as he turned back to Danielle and shook his head telling her quickly "I will explain later I promise"
Serena laughed seeing him getting caught up in his own web of lies and deceit as she told him proudly "why don't you explain now lover boy, hmm you have all our attention"
Darien turned around to look at her, the girl he never expected to see again, who was standing now right in front of him as he told her coldly "why don't you keep your mouth shut"
Serena shook her head amazed at the real Darien she was witnessing and silently barraded herself for not seeing it sooner as she let out a small laugh and told him "oh Darien, I thought you enjoyed it when I told you all my deepest hearts desires"
Darien started to choke knowing he had repeated those same words less than an hour ago to the girl who he had wrapped up in his arms seconds before she showed up as Danielle looked to him outraged while shaking her head stating coldly "on second thought I think I am going to retire to myself for the evening goodbye Darien, don't bother calling on me again actually just lose my number all together" as she looked to Serena telling her proudly "whoever you are it was a pleasure meeting you"
Serena smiled seeing the girl walking down the beach glad to know she was able to at least protect someone else from his lies as she waved her hand telling her "likewise" then watched as the blonde stormed off down the beach, but her attention was quickly disrupted as Darien turned to look at her demanding "well you have got my full attention, now do you mind telling me what you are doing back here Serena?"
Serena looked to him seeing no trace of the man that she had loved once who spent endless amazing moments with her instead seeing only the cocky rogue who seduced her into thinking she knew what love was as she shoved him in the chest telling him harshly "making a fool of myself apparently"
She turned back to the water and wiped a tear away from her eyes rather than face him and let him see how much he hurt her as she crossed her arms over her chest knowing that she had no place to go now and was stuck on an island with him while Darien stepped forward and looked to her with the soft eyes that she grew used to seeing as he told her innocently "it is good to see you"
Serena shook her head expecting now he was going to try to use his charms again to win her over and let out a loud laugh, then took a step away and turned back to face him telling him harshly "please cut the crap, how stupid do you believe me to be? I just saw you with someone else, you told her the same things you told me, everything that I thought we shared that was special meant nothing to you, you used me"
Darien shook his head knowing there was no longer any use in denying it and walked over to pick up his board from the sand, showing no remorse to her words as he told her back plainly "I did no such thing"
Serena looked to him knowing every word that came from his mouth are lies and placed her hands down on her hips asking "well then are you going to stand there and tell me that you missed me, when I thought of you non-stop only to come here and find you with some other woman. You were telling her all the same things you told me Darien. I thought I meant something to you, not to mention that you could not find the time to answer even one of my phone calls, did you even get any of my texts or were you too busy with all your what was it you called them friends, was she another friend of yours Darien?"
Darien turned around to look at her with a coldness in his eyes she never saw before as he shook his head telling her "fine your right, she was not just a friend, like you she was just another girl who came here from her boring life looking for an adventure, but you would think for some as smart as you think you are Serena, that our lack of communication would be a sign not to travel across the country and show up here unexpected, go back home"
Serena looked to him feeling foolish for actually believing any word that came from his mouth as she shook her head and wiped a tear from her eyes telling him "you're a cold-hearted monster"
Darien laughed as he started to walk across the sand telling her truthfully "look I have other places to be, but if it helps you sleep at night, I will tell you this I am not a monster Serena far from it actually. I just give stuck up rich girls like yourself, who come to this island looking for an adventure to get away from their boring mundane lives. Well I give them what they're looking for, so that they can all go home and tell all their friends about it. You were just the same as the girl you just chased away and all the rest before that. We had a good time together for a week and you have your adventure story to tell all your rich friends about, the one time that you went to the island and let yourself lose for once and had sex on the beach, now if you will excuse me I have others waiting"
Serena felt sick to her stomach hearing his words and thinking of how many others that had come before her that he had used his charms on and how many would come after as she shook her head telling him sadly "you were my first"
Darien turned around and looked to her with a shrug to his shoulders and told her back innocently "yeah you kind of caught me by surprise on that one too, but hey If it's going to be your first might as well be your best"
Serena looked at him knowing that he really had that much confidence in himself and what he honestly believed was an okay thing to do as she shook her head and told him coldly "you have got to be kidding me, do you really think that makes it okay"
Darien looked to her seeing the hurt and pain in her eyes as he shook his head and walked back over telling her more gently "look Serena we had one amazing week together, but that's all that it was. Don't try to find something more where it isn't. Now why don't you go back and catch the next flight back home and go back to your fancy lifestyle and you and I will we will always have Paradise Cove" as he let out a little sigh telling her "and what was it that we had shared together the hills, or the beach, or wait no, no the waterfall that was it"
Serena looked to him knowing she was being mocked for all the times she thought about their waterfall and the start of where she began to fall in love with him, which was obviously just a joke to him and not there special place at all, but just another piece of land and wished she had never gotten into that car to begin with as she shook her head telling him angrily "you disgust me. I can't believe I fell for your lies"
Darien shrugged his shoulders back not showing any concern to her statement as he told her calmly "well I would like to say it's been its fun catching up Serena, but we all know that would be a lie, now I must be going, take care of yourself"
Serena looked to him feeling the rage building up inside of her seeing him rushing off to his next conquest as she shook her head asking harshly "what's your hurry too many other girls to take advantage of?"
Darien turned around to look at her with a crooked smile telling her pleased "more like lead on an adventure" then pointed a finger her way as he told her with a slick smirk "see yeah! Around"
Serena looked to him seeing him walking away, showing no care to how much he hurt her and was ready to wipe that smirk off his face permanently and give him a harsh dose of reality as she shook her head telling him confidently "wait don't go running away so fast Darien"
Darien turned back around to look at her as he let out a loud sigh telling her more forcefully "listen Serena I'm sorry, but you didn't mean to me what you thought I meant to you, but it was fun while it lasted, now let it go"
Serena nodded her head proudly thinking that he actually thought she was caught up on him still after all of this telling him back "oh I know that; believe me I got the message loud and clear with your friend there in the bikini"
Darien nodded his head glad that was settled as he told her confidently "good, now go on with you, go back to your penthouses or mansions or whatever it is you have there" as he gave her a little wink telling her "and consider this a life lesson well learned"
Serena shook her head ready to wipe that condescending smile right off his face as she crossed her arms in front of her, taking on a face that she saw her father do many of times before when he wouldn't back down in a business meeting telling him back "okay Darien well then in that case, I have a lesson for you to"
Darien looked to her with a small grin not taking anything she had to tell him too seriously as he replied back with a laugh "alright, I'll play along what is it you are going to teach me Serena"
Serena looked to him as she walked up closer seeing the little grin he displayed proudly and told him back sharply "here's a lesson for you, before you make love, no love is not the right word is it, have sex with someone on the beach you need to make sure you wear a condom!"
Darien looked back at her with his eyes open wide not expecting to hear that as he asked confused "what is that supposed to mean?"
Serena smiled as she placed her hand down onto her stomach and walked the rest of the way up to him standing inches apart and put her hand up to his chest telling him with a grin of her own "congratulations Darien, you're going to be a daddy"
Darien looked to her seeing the seriousness in her eyes and then down to her stomach where her hand lied as he took a step back and shook his head as he told her shocked "no, no this can't be"
Serena stood there looking at him knowing under other circumstance his reaction might have displeased her, but right now seeing a cold dose of reality hit hard him in the face was a simple pleasure she could have in this dreadful moment as she nodded her head telling him back "I assure you it is happening and very real"
Darien looked to her seeing the seriousness in her face, of what she was trying to lay on him as he took a further step back while shaking his head telling her forcefully "it's not mine"
Serena laughed knowing he was the only one she was with as he so confidently bragged about his abilities and told him back smugly while stepping up closer bridging the gap between them "come now Darien you said so yourself that you were my first, what was it you said for my first time might as well be the best, well you did it alright and you were also my only, I might add"
Darien shook his head feeling like everything was spinning around him and was about to come crashing down as he looked back at her standing there smugly looking completely in control and told her panicked "no it's not possible, maybe your just late I mean the possibility of getting pregnant on your first time its not"
Serena looked to him seeing him grasping for air while watching him drown in front of her as she shook her head telling him with a strong laugh "really Darien what sex ed. Teacher told you that. I promise you it's possible, the proof is right here growing inside of me I am not late, hey you said so yourself for my first time I certainly got the best of you" then put her hand to her stomach telling him proudly "and here it is"
Darien looked to her stomach with his eyes bulging wide at the thought of a child growing inside that could be his as he shook his head telling her mid freak out "no it's too soon you only left the island not too long ago don't these things take more time"
Serena shook her head knowing he was trying to find a way to not make this exist, when it was very real and not something that would remain hidden and told him sharply "it's been weeks Darien or have you lost track of time with all your distractions, while junior here is still growing"
Darien put a hand through his wet hair taking it the situation that was in front of him as he shook his head telling himself "this isn't happening"
Serena got a simple pleasure out of watching him, mister cool and confident become so unhinged, but also knew all her plans were now out the window of what to do as she shook her head knowing she needed some time alone with her thoughts on what to do next telling him back sharply "well this didn't go as I had expected it to but, it has been a long trip and with the baby and all it has left me feeling kind of tired. I am going to go lie down for a while, why don't you come by the hotel later seeing as how you seem to know it so well and I would expect any plans you had this evening with your blonde friend there have been permanently cancelled so we can talk later about this, once you get past your denial that this is really happening and this child is yours"
Darien stood there dumbfounded as he looked to her and started to count the weeks back in his head as he nodded his head telling her "yeah later, we'll talk"
Serena walked over to him seeing the shocked look still on his face as she reached up and patted him on the cheek and then whispered by his ear saying "and probably best to keep your pants on for now surfer boy"
Darien turned his head slightly to look at her knowing he would be permanently attached to this girl from now on and what that would mean for him, that his whole life as he knew it was about to completely blow up around him as he shook his head telling her "I…I"
Serena shook her head seeing the charmer was now left utterly speechless as she told him with a loud laugh "don't think about it too hard it will only give you a migraine" as she turned back around and walked back up the beach while Darien stood there and placed his hand up to his head indeed feeling the intense pounding there as he watched her walk away while asking himself "how the hell did this happen?"
