"Shit! Shit! Shit! Shit!" Evelyn shouted.
"Jesus and I thought I swear a lot." Jeanine leant against the living room doorframe.
"I've lost Georgie!" Evelyn exclaimed.
"The hamster?"
Evelyn nodded, pacing around the small room.
"How the fuck do you loose a hamster?!"
"I was cleaning his cage and he must have ran away." Evelyn fell onto the sofa.
"How did he get out of a... Evelyn you idiot!"
Evelyn looked up, moving hair out of her eyes, "What?"
Jeanine facepalmed, "You keep them in a box or something whilst you clean the cage!"
"Oh..."
"Prat."
"Cheers."
"Come on get up, I'll help you find him." Jeanine yanked her up.
"You will?!" Evelyn didn't think that Jeanine would've cared.
"I have become fairly fond of the little guy." Jeanine shrugged.
"Awww look at you."
"Shut up, just shut up. I am annoyed enough."
"If you say so, you softie."
"I swear to God."
Evelyn arched an eyebrow, "What are you going to do Erudite? Kiss me?"
"You wish."
"So did you last night."
"Are you trying to piss me off today?"
Evelyn grinned, "It's all part of my charm."
"If you say so." Jeanine murmured.
They looked for Georgie for about half an hour until there was a knock at the door.
"Who could that be?" Evelyn wondered.
"It's probably Claris, I'll be right back." Jeanine stood from her position on the carpet and stretched out her back. Looking under the sofa had been very unforgiving.
The doorbell rang.
"Okay, I'm coming!" Jeanine shouted.
When she opened the door she was shocked to find the newly weds.
"Eh hello?" Jeanine greeted them in a question like manner.
"Who is it?" Evelyn shouted.
"Tris and Tobias!" Jeanine shouted back.
Evelyn came to the door to see for herself.
"Tobias!" Evelyn exclaimed.
"Hey Mum..." he offered Jeanine a small nod.
"What are you doing here?" Jeanine asked.
Tris finally spoke, "Heard that you got attacked twice, thought we should come and see."
"Oh well thank you..."
"How are you?" Tris asked, it appeared that she actually cared about wether Jeanine was okay or not.
Jeanine shrugged, "I'm okay, the gunshot wound has almost fully heeled now. No strenuous activities but I never did much of those in the first place."
Evelyn laughed.
"Are you shaken up? I mean being held at gunpoint and then knifepoint has got to do something to you." Tobias asked.
Jeanine gave him a bewildered look, "I wasn't held at knifepoint...?"
"Yeah by Darren."
"Ah so that's what he is telling everyone, I have been wondering. He barely made it through the door. He picked my lock and well I heard and was waiting for him with a knife when he got in."
"Really?!" it seemed as though Tobias had believed Darren's story.
"Yeah, I came home from food shopping to find her holding a knife up to his neck and I called the police."
"Oh." Tobias whispered.
"Well come in, come in" Evelyn stepped aside.
They walked in and began to take their coats and shoes off.
"Ummm Mum...?"
"What's up?"
"Why is there a hamster in the shoerack?"
"There he is!" Jeanine exclaimed.
She bent down and picked him up in her hands, "You little arsehole. Although, to be fair I think Evelyn is the real arsehole for letting you escape." she whispered the last part but Evelyn still heard.
"How sweet."
Jeanine went into the living room and put him in the cage, checking that it was secured before walking away.
"Why do you have a hamster, aren't pets banned in Erudite?" Tris asked when she got back.
"Looking after it for a friend." Evelyn answered.
"Oh." she muttered.
"Right, well, will you be staying for long?" Jeanine silently prayed that they had a hotel somewhere.
"It will be good to get a break so we were thinking a few days if you will have us." Tobias informed them.
"Of course we will Tobias." Evelyn smiled.
Jeanine wanted to scream.
They went and sat in the living room.
"You know it's really weird," Tris started, "Jeanine Matthews looking after a hamster and her wife loosing him and they have to search the house. It's... I don't know... it's just so domestic."
"Thank you I think...?"
Evelyn smiled, "Domestic Jeanine is my favourite Jeanine."
"Oddly enough, mine too." Tris agreed.
"How's your brother?" Jeanine asked.
"Oh... we sort of got in an argument."
"You still haven't resolved it!"
"Do you know then?"
"Yeah he came to see us and told me everything."
"Oh..."
"Tris I know it might be hard to except but it's who he is, please talk to him."
"Okay I will." Tris nodded.
Jeanine smiled, "Great."
"Jeanine can I speak to you for a moment?" Evelyn asked, pulling her up and taking her into the kitchen.
She planted a soft kiss on her lips.
"What's that for?" Jeanine asked when they broke away.
"For being so patient and trying so hard."
"Evelyn, he's your son. I don't like him but I love you and that trumps any feelings I may have about him."
Evelyn blushed.
"I love you too."
"I know."
